Amura is one of the best places in Orlando get sushi! I have a few other favorites, but each time I go there I am never disappointed.

I have grown to love my favorites, and typically get them each time such as the Shrimp(Steamed) Shumai, Volcano Roll (the best!), Super Crunch Roll and Crunch Roll.  Their sashimi is always fresh and is delicious!

In addition I look to their specials to try out new roles once in awhile and I am never disappointed either at their selection. Service is great, and for me the location is convenient since I work in Downtown Orlando.

After a certain local imitation asian fusion restaurant disaster, I decided to get some sushi at Amura in hopes of something I could actually digest.

The sushi was acceptable! I had salmon sashimi, spicy tuna roll, and an avocado roll. The spicy tuna was yum, and the sashimi was fresh.

This place would get 4 stars except for the service...which was a let down...the first thing out of the waitresses mouth was: "We close at 10." It was 9:30. Wow. In other words, "We're closing soon, so you need to hurry up and get the hell out here and not waste my time" sort of thing.

If you go, expect a solid sushi experience, and crappy service. This way, you wont be let down if its bad - and you'll be pleasantly surprised if its good.

This is the Japanese restaurant that doesn't know much about Japanese food and Japanese culture.
They have Sushi menu but besides that, this place is nothing like the restaurants in Japan.
We ordered Fiery Chicken and Tokyo Orange Chicken. Not bad but not memorable. You could order the similar dish at other Asian restaurant with cheaper price.

Their waitress was rude and that is my major reason for giving them 1 star.

I understand their "Japanese food" are americanized since their major target markets are Americans. But I really want them to know about Japanese Customs, Etiquette, and Culture a little bit more before they open the restaurant especially when they over charge their food.
When I saw $15 for Yakisoba, I thought it was a rip off.

I'm not coming back.  Bye cha!!!!!!!!!

This was the first place I ever sampled sushi. And the way I acted like it was plague on the plate. But my server was quite nice about it, and the owner was there to soothe my anxiety. But I will say by far they have the best sushi I have ever had in Orlando. I love the bento boxes some of the dishes come in and the presentation of the food is neat. The food though is a bit pricy, of course it's right in from of the new condo building downtown it's worth it..

I ate at the Lake Mary location.

BAD TEMPURA batter!

I knew that was the end of it. One thing I judge on when I eat at Japanese eateries is the tempura batter..Then the sushi..

Too bad Ive had better tempura somewhere else.

This location underwent an overhaul. It's more sophisticated now, competing with Ichiban around the corner.

The sushi is tasty, for sure. I sampled the Philly roll, Atom Bomb roll, Bamboo Wine roll, eel roll and the staple: spicy tuna. All were satisfying.

Service was sufficient, but it felt a bit forced at times. (Read as: timely, yet stale.)

The clientele is a mish mash of downtowners, with a heavy emphasis on attractive women with enhanced body parts. "Check please!"

when i lived in the area, this was a favorite of my roommates and myself.

the service isn't awesome, and place isn't pretty, but I'm pretty sure that eating a Mexican roll will change your life.

Next on my sushi list....Amura's Downtown location.

This is the perfect place to go before having a night on the town...if you like sushi and your stomach can handle it when combined with copious amounts of alcohol hall that is. Amura's is tucked away among the many restaurants, bars and night clubs along Church St. near the I-4 overpass. While it's not very big in size, their food is big in variety, quality and taste.

The first time I stumbled into this sushi joint I had a serious hankering for some good sushi...and it was well fulfilled. Their menu features many of the usual items you will find in an establishment of this kind which includes edamame, seaweed salad, several different kinds and varieties of sushi, tempura and hibachi style cuisine. And like most places Amura has their signature items to set them apart from the competition, which are pressed rolls in addition to a sushi roll named after the restaurant.

As is usual, my favorite rolls to order include the rainbow, spider and volcano rolls. The fish is always very fresh, the rice sticky and the size of the roll makes you feel like you're getting your money's worth. Their signature pressed rolls are also quite tasty, although messy because eating it all in one bite is nearly impossible. The thing practically falls apart when you try to lift it up and dip in the soy sauce. Their tempura appetizers and dishes are also well done. Not too greasy or overpowering with a greasy taste, but just right. I've never had dessert here, but I hear it's yummy. And let's not forget about the sake...definitely a must if you're up for it.

The décor is simple and what is expected of a Japanese restaurant with subtle colors and floral designs throughout. Seating is a bit crammed, but once you start eating and chatting with your friends/family you'll soon forget about that. Service is pretty good, although I have had a few not-so-great experiences here. It all depends on your server. The wait does get pretty bad on the weekends, but I'm pretty sure they do accept reservations. Prices are typical for a sushi restaurant and not considered cheap, but that also depends on how much you order and just how hungry you are.

Overall, a good place to go if you're in the downtown area.

I want to amend this review because this location does not deserve 5 stars. I still think the sushi is very good but the service and presentation has gotten a little complacent. If given the choice I'd much rather go the the Sand Lake location which is a much cleaner and more modern. I think the service is much better there too; the downtown Amura has wait staff that seems bothered. This is probably from years of drunks stumbling in after a night of drinking. (Hey, that was us a few times too!)

This place used to be really fun (my husband and I went on our first date here), but in the past six months or so, it's felt like the restaurant stopped caring.  It got super popular, and then the quality started sliding, it took for absolutely ever to get any food, and the real kiss of death was when I ordered a glass of a more expensive sake and was brought the entire bottle already opened, which I *so* did not want to pay for.

Used to go there monthly or even weekly when I was on a real fish high, but haven't been there in a few months now.  Hopefully when I get around to giving Amura another chance it will be back to fun, fresh, and yummy, as it once was.

I know a lot of people really enjoy Amura, and I'll admit it isn't too shabby.  The rolls are a little gimicky (more so than other places, anyways), and are huge.  While this is a plus to many, I'd rather be able to order 3 rolls, with pieces I can actually fit in my craw, instead of a single monstrosity that could feed a family of four.  The cooked dishes are rather underwhelming.  The service isn't the greatest, but that has more to do with poor management than the servers themselves.  It's a decent option if you're stuck downtown, but if you can go elsewhere, you should.

I think the sushi here is a bit expensive.  They up the price just because it's downtown.  Big deal.  But this place is the place to go for a lot of the suits and ties when they come down for lunch.  I hear this place is packed during lunch and dinner.  My sister used to serve here and they are worked to the bones.  Sweat, blistered toes, the whole she-bang.

I like the crunchy shrimp roll.  They take tempura shrimp, tempura batter, spicy sauce and roll it up together.  Fatty and oily but damn good.
