GONE - along with the whole building to make room for... wait for it... MORE F-ING CONDOS!!!
The city is always changing but don't the last few years of glass tower spendy condo expansion seem excessive?
I saw Jerry Seinfeld playing Larry David here, Paul Sorvino and Jeanette Lee as well. Good high school memories.
Oh well

Celebs went there, I understand.
Fascinating to watch the building as they tear it down, to replace it with a skyscraper bringing more and more people to our already overcrowded West SIde.

Walking home in the rain at 3:30 am, I literally stumbled into Amsterdam Billiards. Thank God for this place and the very helpful staff. Without them, I wouldn't have been able to complete my buzz and get help finding a taxi while all the bars were emptying out into the unwalkable, wet streets.
They have a ton of tables and, as mentioned previously, I owe the staff a debt of gratitude.

This is a fun place if you catch it at the right time. I've been here on a Saturday night and heard crickets chirp, and then been by on a weekday afternoon and had the place be hopping. Personally, I like it when it's quiet. I find the little lounge area to be ideally sized and comfortable while waiting for your table to open up. The booze is expensive, but what are you going to do?

Beautiful tables, good drinks, tournaments, leagues, and a "nice looking" location.
Friendly staff. Excellent place to play pool.
Aesthetically pleasing -- dim lights in the evening with individual lamps over each table. Rolling racks under tables for coat/purse storage (don't worry about having to watch it so closely when it's under the table.

NOTE: Great place for Orthodox Jewish people to meet each other. Every time I go here I see at least 5-10 Orthodox Jewish people playing pool.
You may feel a bit old if you have a high school diploma on some Saturday nights, but the name of the game here is pool and there are plenty of tables at which you can park.
Spacious enough to be suitable for players with fans just there to watch.
Bar service is decent - nothing fancy, but they haven't failed on a drink order yet.
Open late and never closed, regardless of holiday or holy day.
I think this is a great spot to hang out and play pool in the city. I also had a memorable ping pong battle with my older brother here. The atmosphere is chill. It's not a place where you're gunna feel people are watching you, or too high maitenence or anything like that. Decent bar and service. A good place to go for a lil activity with friends or whomever.
Good pool and decent, if pricey, drinks. The problem is that it's hard to tell when the place is going to be packed out. I've walked in some weekends and gotten right on a table, and on others I've waited two hours and then just left. The small 'lounge' area is lame and drink service there is almost non-existent.
It's a fun time when you can get a table, but if there are more than a couple of people ahead of you on the wait list, it's better to just turn right around.
This can be a cool place if you are looking for something to do on rainy Sunday. When I went, there was a short wait for one of the 25 or so tables they have for rent. This wasn't a problem because Amsterdam is also a bar. They also have a comfortable sitting area just off the bar area with some TVs.
The crowd there was a mixture of stilted amateurs (me) and skilled players (everyone else), but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. It's not a necessarily a cheap afternoon ($13 an hour, $6 a beer), but it's a fun place to pass the time with some friends.
