Clinking noise 4am....furnace not turning on. I go down to look..hear the noise....and know that there is a problem and these kinds of problems cost lot of money. Jumped on YELP...starting checking out some of the local folks ( since I live in Half Moon Bay. Liked what I read about Dennis. Called him...he was out at my place in an hour. Had the parts...fixed it...explained it all...an hour later all fixed. There is something to be said about customer service, honesty, and efficiency that we all look for as consumers.
I am not related to or have any part in Dennis's business. As a Yelper, I want to make sure that others know the difference between a real service oriented business and those who are out only for themselves and care little about the consumer.
Well done, Dennis. You have my 5 stars! -

Found AMS on Yelp. I'd bought my home 10 years ago and always had 2 rooms that stayed very cold - heat just never seemed to get into those rooms. Had my furnace and vents checked a couple of times but no solution. Just recently, I decided to get to the bottom of this problem...I was determined to get heat into these rooms.
I got an estimate from company referred from a friend. The guy came out and told me that the ducting going to those rooms, plus a poor connection with the ducting leading to the furnance in the garage were my problems. Solutioin - replace ducting in these areas, plus... blah , blah for a cost of several $1,000 dollars - yikes - "do I really want heat in those rooms", was my new question.
I decided to get a second estimate from someone in my home town of Pacifica - thank goodness. I called AMS and Dennis came out the same day - and within 10 minutes (NO KIDDING) I had heat flowing into those rooms from him adjusting the fan speed inside the furnance....wow!!!!
In these tough times, it can be hard to find folks with integrity, fairness, and extensive knowledge of their craft - but there's no shortage of these values and qualities at AMS!

They have been to our house two years in a row now and have provided excellent service. They are willing to crawl into tight spaces, where most shutter at the thought as the heater is located under the house in a tiny crawl space. At Christmas time, Dennis the owner came out and fixed our heater when we accidentally turned it off (yes that happened) and did not charge us any house call. That is top notch in our book. We have recommended him to friends and will continue to use AMS as well as recommend them to anyone who is in need of their services.

Our experience with Dennis, the owner of AMS Coast Sheet Metal in Pacifica was refreshing. He is honest, hard working, and friendly and we recommend him and his company without hesitance.
We had been told in May 2011 by another company that our heater, which was limping, wasn't worth fixing and should be replaced. The heater stopped working two weeks later. Dreading the cost we decided to wait until October to replace. After the first October storm we called three places for estimates; Dennis came first and we are thankful he did.
He came on the Friday of Columbus Day weekend - we were scheduled to meet at 4:00 pm. Dennis called before the meet to say he was running late from a job in San Francisco and would be here shortly. I appreciated that because too many would have blown the meeting off and not called. When he arrived and we made our way to the heater, his said to me when he laid eyes on the heater - from a distance mind you - "Oh Joel we do not need to replace this heater. It's too new ['85]. We can fix this." He opened it up, started it up, listened and poked, and then pointed to the fan on the motor and said, "Here's your problem." The motor was not making the full revolution because the wheel inside the housing was busted.
After removing the motor, Dennis removed the wheel to see if motor could be salvaged but too much damage had been done by the broken metal. He told me he would drive to his shop, get a replacement motor, and be back directly. I said he could wait until next week since it was a holiday weekend but he insisted. Dennis returned as promised and replaced the motor.
We were prepared to spend thousands of dollars to replace a heater that needed a $187 motor - something that took Dennis two minutes to figure out. He could have exploited the fact that I was ready to spend the money but he didn't, which is why I am writing my very first Yelp review. Thank you Dennis for reminding me what honest workmanship is. -

Had a brrrh and grrrh kind of morning last week. Went to turn on the heat and the darn furnace wouldn't ignite. It only made that annoying endless clicking sound. After looking on Yelp for someone who services the Pacifica area, we decided to give AMS Coast Sheet Metal, Heating and Air a call. Dennis kindly made room for us in his schedule on what was probably his lunch break. It took him a few minutes to diagnose the problem (not the igniter, but a part connected to the igniter). Luckily, Dennis had that part in his truck and within a short time and for a fair price, our furnace was up and running again. You'd have to know that the last repairman who came out in 2005 highly recommended that we replace the whole furnace. When we asked Dennis, he said, no, that it still has many years of life in it. In fact, he said it is of better quality than what you can buy on the market today. We appreciate that kind of honesty and, if and when the furnace does need replacing, you can be sure that Dennis will be the person we call!

Had an issue with our furnace and found AMS on Yelp. Dennis directly answered the phone, happened to be the neighborhood, and within the hour he'd diagnosed and fixed the problem at a fair price. You probably won't get this lucky every time but he's been fixing furnaces for 40 years and is intent on helping people, not gouging anyone. A joy to be helped by someone who knows and cares about his craft.

We had previous companies come out to do an estimate to "replace" our furnace because we were told it was "unsafe." After numerous estimates and prices that went all the way up to 10K, Dennis came over and cleaned it out, tested it, made sure there was no leaking of dangerous gas, turned our light back on, and gave us a green light. He didnt' charge us for his time, only to light our pilot light back on...wow, he was knowledgeable, honest, and kind. Makes us think that all of the other companies really just wanted to make a buck. Hard to come by honest people who like what they do, have been in business for years, and just want to do honest work. Thank you Dennis.

I have never paid AMS a dime; tried to, but helpful Dennis refused. For that matter, I've never written a YELP review before either; but this outfit has inspired me to do so. I called them with a question about my furnace and Dennis of AMS asked where I lived. When I told him, he said it was on his way to an evening out and could swing by and show me how to 'fix it myself'. He showed me just what to do - nothing too complicated. When I finally got around to it I forgot one key step and shorted out my system. I called him again (on a Sunday) expecting to finally pay for some professional assistance. Instead he coached me both on the missing step and how to fix the problem I'd created - all over the phone and at no charge.
Great neighborly customer service - even when you're not a paying customer!!! -

I was not getting enough heat to my bedroom- was sure I needed a new heating system. Dennis from AMS Coast Sheet Metal came out and very quickly assessed what was wrong. He was thorough in checking everything and was not out to make a buck, like so many companies are. His estimate to replace our system, should we decide to replace it, was lower than I expected. I will definitely recommend them to friends and should we decide to replace the system, these are the guys who are going to get the job! So refreshing to find a professional company with good old fashioned home town values.
