My husband and a couple of friends did this tour last week. It was a cold day (by Southern CA standards) in Boston, and there were 2 others who showed up for the tour. We picked this tour because of the price: FREE! Anthony, our tour guide, did mention the gratuity thing once at the beginning of the tour, and promised that he wouldn't mention it again ~ which he didn't. Basically, he said to pay what we thought the tour was worth.
The tour took us all over Boston, hitting up the heart of the Freedom Trail, parts of Beacon Hill. Anthony gave us history lessons at every stop, and even threw in some cultural and trivial tidbits as well. At our stop at Boston Common, he was even able to ward off a crazy man, who claimed that all of his relatives were killed in the Common. Anthony remained professional, while the rest of us were cracking up!
The 2.5 hour tour flew by, despite the cold wind, and at the end, we gave him a generous tip. He did a great job! It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The tour was able to cover the history lesson that my friends, husband and I wanted during our stay in Boston.
Take this tour if you're ever visiting Boston! You will not be disappointed! -
Review from Glenn C.
Camarillo, CA
I did this tour back in may and was very pleased with what it had to offer. It wasn't bad considering the tour was at its infancy, only starting a few months before. What really stood out was the tour guides were a couple of college students who were born and raised in Boston and were very, very passionate about their city. My tour guide in particular really knew his stuff. I was the only person to show during my tour and my guide was a liitle under the weather, but he was still able to provide a fun and informative 2.5 hour tour. Their website claims 1.5 - 2 hours but since I was the only person who showed, he suggested that we take our time. Some trivial facts were thrown in that made the tour very interesting. No reservations are required, just show up at the meeting place and look for guy in the green shirt. And did I mention it's all FREE!!!! Other paid tours go to only half of the places this tour visits. Also, you're not pressured into tipping your guide, he does it for the appreciation of his city. 5 well deserved stars AM tours!
