I have been having a hard time finding a vintage inspired, unique wedding dress. Demitrios is a cattle call full of ripped and stained dresses that they claim look amazing on everybody. After that horrible experience I was hesitant to go to another bridal shop. I finally got up the courage to just go and drove over to old town La Mesa.

I walked in and Brittany was friendly, asked questions but was not pushy at all. She let me choose my own options and didn't try to push anything on me. After trying on 3 dresses I found the one. Literally "THE DRESS"!!!  I get the actual dress I tried on! They don't have to order it and it wont take months to get it! The fittings take time but I was thrilled to be able to buy right off the rack.

All their dresses are in impeccable condition. I didn't feel like I needed a sanitizing scrub down after trying on their dresses like Demitrios. Their prices are amazing and had alot of great dresses under $500. The dress I choose looks couture, vintage and old Hollywood glamour without the vintage couture price tag.

I highly recommend Amour Bridal for any bride looking for an amazing dress!!!! I couldn't be happier with my choice, the price and Brittany's great customer service!!!

I wish no bride the horrific experience I encountered when ordering my wedding dress from Amour Bridal.

I was so excited to check out this boutique. It is only a couple miles from my house and I grew up in a small town in Minnesota before moving to California. As a Minnesotan it was my experience that small businesses offer the best customer service.

I ordered my wedding dress through Amour Bridal. I signed the reciept to order a size 6 dress. The dress was $1020. They ordered a larger size 8 dress by what they say was a mistake. I believe they never actually ordered me a new dress because the sample I tried on the first day was the larger size 8.  It took "5 months" for the dress to arrive.  At the first fitting the "mistake" was discovered.  The owner Carolee Scoortis was at the first fitting.  At first she tried to lie and say I ordered a size 8.  I said, "No way! I have been stressed for the past 5 months about fitting into a size 6."  I made her pull the original reciept for proof that I ordered a size 6.  She verbally offered free alterations to correct the "mistake." I agreed to the free alterations to fix the mistake.  I regret this decision now but at the time my wedding was only 6 weeks away and I loved the dress.

Throughout the alterations process I was never satified with the quality of alterations offered by thier seam stress.  The seamstress had only worked for the store for about a month and had little experience.  The alterations made the dress pucker from under the bustline to below the hips even though it was suppose to be a smooth fitted dress.  The seamstress apologized for her work because she was not happy with how the dress was turning out. Altough the owner refused to care.  I gave them a final deadline of one week prior to the wedding to present the final alterations for a final fitting.  The deadline was not met. I showed up at the shop and it was closed. No one was even thier to explain the dress was not complete. I went into a frantic panic because it was one week before my wedding and I had no dress.  I went emergency dress shopping that night.

I never even picked up the dress from Amour Bridal and the owner refuses to offer me a refund. I have called, sent certified letters and threatened to take the owner to small claims court to get my money back. I even stopped by the shop to request her to settle on a refund amount and she ran out the back door.  Crazy..right?

Please do not shop here.  I will be filing an official small claim against this store next week to get my money back for a dress I never received.

Please, DO NOT BUY YOUR WEDDING DRESS FROM AMOUR!

I bought my dress here in October 2011. I am already married, but my husband and I were married in a courthouse, and I have been planning my wedding for what seems like forever (we are military and have had to change the date 4 times). I really loved the dress, and I was offered a discount if I bought the dress right then.. I wish I would have paid more attention to the little signs I now realize I didn't pick up on.
My dress and slip total was $1000, and I was led to believe that my dress was designer. When we tried to take a picture, we were told by the owner, Carolee, that the designer did not allow that, but that if we were "actually in David's Bridal, then you could take pictures." So basically, we were tricked into believing that my dress was from either a designer or David's Bridal. I now know that the dress is a replica from China. I also know that the $2000 Jim Helm dress I dreamed of could be ordered as a replica for $300, so they definitely made a VERY large profit off of me and other brides.
I was called in January and went in for my first fitting. Just like in other reviews, my dress fit exactly like the sample did, even though the size I ordered should have fit me like a glove since the measurements were only a 1/2 inch different than my own. I didn't feel comfortable with the seamstress AT ALL. When I asked her a question about changing the neckline, which I was told I could do before I bought my dress, she wasn't sure if she could do it and had to ask the owner. Really? Since your the seamstress shouldn't you know what you are capable of doing?
A month later I was called to schedule my second fitting.. Even though I still had over a year before my wedding. I let them know that I was pregnant and moving back home while my husband was on deployment, and that we would have to wait until closer to the wedding to do the fittings, which I thought was already the plan. I have never heard of a bride having her final fitting a year before the date, a lot can happen to your body size in a year. After hearing, "Well I hope this is something you wanted,"  I was told that I had to have the dress shipped to me and that they had never worked on the alterations anyway.
A week later, I was called again and told that my dress HAD to be shipped because they were closing down, and that I had to pay for the shipping myself. So ladies beware, supposedly this shop IS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS. So its been 2 1/2 weeks since my card was charged, and I called numerous times and was told that the owner was out of town and that she was the one who had taken care of the shipment. Yesterday the owner came back, but she would not talk to me over the phone herself like a responsible mature person would do, but instead the very polite lady on the phone told me that my dress had never been shipped but that they were taking it right then.. I was also promised a return call with a confirmation number, but that did not happen. I am now wondering if I will ever get my dress.
So ladies, please safe yourself the distress, and go somewhere like David's Bridal that has ethical business practices and a proper return policy!!

Let me start by saying I love the dress I bought here.

But...the customer service was disappointing and at times insulting.

When purchasing the gown I was under the impression that I was buying a designer gown but after a few emails with my consultant I found out later that it was a copy made in China. I love the design of my dress and think its beautiful, but I do wish they were upfront with me about the gown being a copy.

I found the customer service poor because of lack of updates on the process of my gown.

I found them insulting when I went in to see my dress when it arrived. I tried on the gown and was unsure about coming back to them for the fitting so I asked them if I could schedule the fitting by phone when I was ready. The consultant gave me a look of frustration and a tight smile and then when she was talking to another consultant right outside my room she told her I was not scheduling my following appointment because I was "particular". Then she never returned to help me out of my gown I had to ask my friend to assist me out.

To recap I love my dress but the customer service of this store made me angry, frustrated and insulted.  So I personally would not recommend this store.

I came here alone when I was just browsing for dresses. The consultant was really nice and attentive and found me two dresses I absolutely loved. She said there was a 20% off discount if you bought the dress on your first visit. I was alone and really kind of hesitant, but I knew this was the dress I wanted, so I bought it. The sample size wasn't my size, so my consultant took my measurements and order my dress based on that. My wedding was in 4 months and the consultant told me it would be no problem to have the dress here in 2 months, 3 at the latest. So I waited and waited and finally got a call from my consultant letting me know the dress should be here 6 weeks before my wedding. The day came when my dress was supposed to arrive and I got no call from the store. I waited a few days and finally called them where they explained there was some problems with shipping due to the storms back East (this was in the middle of summer, mind you). But she gave me another date my dress should be here. That date came and went and I received no call from the store. I waited again a few days to call and got another sorry excuse as to why my dress wasn't there. Four weeks later, 2 weeks before my wedding, my dress finally arrived.

When I went to try on the dress, it fit EXACTLY like the sample size. Pieces of the lace had come unsewn and I just was so unhappy of how my dress arrived and how it didn't fit correctly. My consultant who once had been sweet and nice, was inconsiderate and impolite. She did not seem to care that I was unhappy and explained that in transit, some of the lace must have come loose. Really??? What a horrible excuse. Then they wanted to charge me $30 something dollars for each bussel. Well my dress needed like 12 bussels, this is what the consultant told me. I was really hesitant to pay that much money when I had already spent so much on my dress. Inside the dressing room, the seamstress told me she would do the bussels for cheaper than what my consultant had told me. So I said ok. The seamstress also said she would fix the lace that had come lose (which the consultant told me I should pay for) but the seamstress said she would do it for free. She also was to fit my dress for me, even though the consultant had ordered my dress to my measures (which she apparently did not). I had to pay for this as well.

I came back again for my dress (less than 1 week before my wedding!) with my mother. She was furious at the bussels. She said they could have done less bussels and that they just were ripping me off. Not to mention she said there is no way that lace on a brand new dress should have come loose in transit! And when I tried my dress on, it fit exactly the same way as it had in my last 2 fittings. I don't think they made any changes to my dress whatsoever. Not to mention, there were still some lace that were loose and sticking out. I didn't have any time for them to fix my dress and I didn't trust them to have things done in time for my wedding. So I decided I would take my dress home. When it came to the issue of paying, my consultant asked in front of my group of family that was with me, if my mother was going to pay for the remainder of the cost. This was quite embarrassing for my mother since she does not have any money and I was paying for my own dress. It was insulting to her when she had to say "No I'm not paying" in front of other family and my husband's family. My mom was completely embarrassed. When I returned home, upon further inspection noticed the bottom of the skirt on my dress was filthy. There is no way that it could have been that dirty just from me walking around the store in that.  I was so disappointed. They also wouldn't press my dress for me (well they would for like $100), so I had to take it to my local dry cleaners who did it for $30.

I was so so so upset by my whole experience. My first visit was amazing, so I thought this would be a good place to purchase my dress. However, things just went completely down hill from there. I am certain to this day, that they never ordered me a new dress and that I took home the sample dress, but paid for a new dress. The consultant that I dealt with was horrible. She must be the owner or a family member of the owner...I don't know who would ever keep her on their payroll. Although I found my dream dress here, I would never recommend this place to anyone. Their customer service and business practices are in the toilet.

This is a great little bridal boutique. It's kind of hidden away in La Mesa, past all the antique stores in the Village. But it is a gem.

One of my bridesmaids and I decided last minute to try wedding dress shopping on a Saturday. We didn't have an appointment, but the sales gal was more than happy to help us out. She listened to my requests, and was great at helping me pick out dresses that fit my needs.

I didn't realize how overwhelmed I would get shopping for my wedding dress, and the staff was very understanding and helpful when I got that deer in the headlight look as I looked through the massive amounts of dresses.

They have a great selection, aren't pushy, and don't tell you that every dress looks amazing on you - because let's be honest, THEY DON'T!

I didn't end up buying my dress here, but definitely had some options.

better dresses than the chain stores.... looking for something different and i found it. The store is great when it comes to fitting appointments and moving them around my schedule.
They have full length mirrors and 2 pedestals for trying on dresses in the main room. they have a few bridesmaid dresses - veils and acessories-and do tux rentals also.
the girls are very helpful and full of energy. I love my dress....

This was the first store I wanted to check out after I first got engaged. I had driven past it countless times growing up in East County and dreamed of the day I could finally go in and try on a wedding gown. As you can tell, I really wanted to like this place. An independent small business is close to my heart as my family has owned a small business for 40 years.
I called two weeks before hand to make an appointment because I was going out of town and spoke with Brittany. We made an appointment for Tuesday the 23rd of November at 12 p.m. Told her my size, my ideas of what I might like and my budget of $1000. The minute after I got off the phone I told my Mom the day and time and she informed me she worked that day and could we do it a different day. I immediately called back  Amour , not even 5 minutes had passed, and spoke with Brittany and asked if we could change the appointment and she said "how about Wednesday same time?".
This is where it goes South. Mom and I show up to Amour on Wednesday the 24th at 12 p.m. to a closed store! As in closed for the Thanksgiving holiday be back on Tuesday. I called and left a message on their machine stating that I had an appointment and was standing out in front of a closed store.
I finally get a message from Brittany on Tuesday morning. She said there must have been a misunderstanding, that they had me penciled in for Tuesday, and if I would want to reschedule. I called her back later that afternoon and explained that I had an initial appointment, but changed it right away. She said that I might have spoken with her manager the second time I called back. I have no idea why that would have made a difference, but I told her  no, I had spoken with you. I then asked her that if it were true that my appointment were scheduled for Tuesday, isn't it customary to give a courtesy call to a customer to either remind them of an appointment or call to tell them that they are late for an appointment and hope everything is okay. I received no calls from anyone from Amour on Tuesday or before to confirm my appointment. She had no answer as to why then no one called me. At this point she started to give me a snarky attitude and say how sorry she was and how it was her mistake but it sounded anything than sincere. She then asked me if I wanted to make an appointment. I told her no, that her unprofessional attitude and her inability to get my first appointment right not to mention that there was no talk of trying to compensate me for my inconvience. She then said she was sorry and proceeded to give me the super snarky line, of "I hope you find the dress of your dreams". I said thank you, I will and hung up.
I wanted to support a small business and ended up at Davids Bridal that Wednesday in La Mesa without an appointment and they were more than happy to help me and I think I may have found "the dress of my dreams".

I actually found my dress and never got a chance to go back to Amour - but after the numerous follow up calls from David's Bridal, calls from vendors associated with Alfred Angelo and the terrible experience at Sparrow - I just had to update to say that this store was easily the best wedding dress shopping experience I had. They had a vast selection in terms of prices and styles - much more so than the chain stores - and the service was excellent.
