Amory Park is pretty much the site for all of my most successful romantic ventures. It's not huge, but there's enough space for a couple tennis courts, a baseball diamond, and still room left over for either an informal soccer pitch or an ultimate frisbee area, or just to lounge around on the grass. The hilly side by Amory street offers a specatular night-time view of the top of Prudential, if you sit in just the right spot.
During the day, and in the summer, Amory Park is full of young and old, hanging out and kicking it funky fresh in the splendor of nature. Since the park is super accessible from both Beacon Street and Commonwealth Avenue, a lot of BU students will roam over this direction from both South Campus and West Campus.
The best part of Amory Park, though, is visiting it at night when almost no one else is there. It's quiet, and the weeping willow by the preserve is gorgeous and has a couple of low-hanging branches. I've been a couple of times when fireflies were buzzing around the woods, and it's about as close to an oasis of nature as I've found in Boston. If you are looking for an almost stupidly romantic location to take someone you've been meaning to kiss for a while, take them to Amory Park late at night (10 pm or later) on a weeknight in the summer or early fall. If they have any interest in you at all, snogging is pretty much guaranteed. -

Clay tennis courts for $20/hr...yayyy!
Dogs pooping all over the fields (their owners don't pick up...ick), so I wouldn't play soccer there unless you don't fall down in the grass ;-) -

Armory Park is a hidden gem in Brookline. The hilly area is ideal for sledding during the winter months, and it's a nice place to relax during the summer. There's a little nature preserve that's fun to walk around.
The lake/pond is filthy, however. People seem to think it's okay to litter in it, and the water is not clean. All in all, I recommend visiting Amory Park if you're looking for a fairly quiet area to chill during the summer. -

This is the place to go for sledding or tobogganing. I was a huge fan of that in the past.
However, now that I'm older, I often go there and see many young children running around, enjoying their youth and punching each other in the arm, absolutely certain that the other one was "it" and yelling "No backies! I'm not it! You still are!" They would whack the other and then immediately run away. It's like I'm watching my past in them and it suddenly makes me wonder what their Yelp reviews of this park is going to be like...Listed in: The B-Line

Amory park / Amory Playground is my local park. It's where I go early in the morning or late in the evening to just chill out from time to time. During the winter, much like any park, Amory is mostly empty. But from early Spring right through until Autumn, there is a mix of people and groups lying out on the grass, playing soccer, or catch or even baseball. There is a baseball pitch as well as a soccer pitch with actual goals!!! :)
The park includes Hall's Pond and the Brookline woods.
Sometimes you will find it quiet where you can chill out, read a book, listen to your MP3 player, chat with a friend, even enjoy your lunch on a warm day. Other times, there will be a soccer match (which is unorganized-just show up and play) a baseball game, people on bikes, people playing tennis, or walking their dogs. You can have your dog off the leash here from dawn until 1PM. After 1PM, it's a dog on a leash policy.
It is also connected to the Brookline Woods which is a wildlife preserve. You can quietly go in here and watch any amount of different wildlife and then if you want to, there is a place at the entrance or exit to the woods to write down and help track what animals you saw there.
I'm giving it 4 stars. Yes there are no lovely flowers to look at and yes there is only one bench to sit on. I would like to see a lot more benches in the future but at the moment, get your picnic blanket out and you will be fine! You will have great views of the Prudential building and there is plenty of greenery too. I love this place!
You can take the C line Hawes or Kent street, or it is less than a mile from Kenmore or even less than a 5 minute walk from Coolidge Corner. -

Amory park is the place to go in the summertime. It really has everything you need to have a good time. There's a baseball and a softball field with a TON of grass space in the outfield(s). There's also tennis courts if you want to a pay a few bucks to play on clay. The scenery is amazing here too. It's a great place to lounge in the sun!
