Amorina makes me happy. Plain and simple. No, wait, pizza generally makes me happy...Amorinas makes me happier. Content. Satiated.

I haven't tried anything aside from the pizza and salad, but I'm OK with that. Well...sometimes I try A LOT of the wine. I really enjoy their style of pizza, when i crave it, its the best. But, it is something you need to experience to know if you like it or not, its not for everyone, but it is for me.

Also, I like the dude whos always serving tables there and correcting my Italian pronunciation--and I HATE being corrected! Clearly this food has an amiable effect on me. The lighting, the decor and the vibe is all just so nice without trying so hard. The Capricciossawhateveritscalled is like a pizza I always wanted but never thought of making. The zucchini, inventive specials, the diavola (yeah its greasy, but what the eff did you expect from those ingredients?!?!)...its all so good. Yes, this place is great.

Stopped in to Amorina because Franny's had an hour wait (no thank you!) We had to wait for 10 minutes for a table, which paled in comparison.

The pizza was pretty good. We had two varieties: a fresh mozz, mushroom, sausage rosemary, and an interesting ricotta, olive, orange, mint. The latter was interesting but i wouldn't crave it again. The first one was quite good, but it was a white pizza, which wasn't clear from the menu.

I would have given four stars, but docked one because we asked for no green olives on the ricotta pizza, and was told "sure, no problem" and whaddya know, it came out olive-laden. Gross. That said, the crust on this pizza is top notch!

Staff was friendly, prices were reasonable enough, and the fresh-tasting olive oil with the complimentary bread was nice.

The decor is kind of bland. It's going for old school cute, but it just looks old.

Don't be fooled by the neon sign; this is not your typical pizza-and-spaghetti place.

The homemade focaccia-style bread is worth the price of admission all by itself, served with a really excellent olive oil. If you call ahead, they will bake a loaf of bread just for you to pick up and take home and stuff into your face. I suspect we will be doing this fairly frequently.

The pizzas are beautiful thin-crust creations, and you can order any combination of toppings; the charming server didn't blink when I asked for a cheeseless pizza with sausage. I felt the tomato sauce could have used just a bit more salt, but otherwise it was perfect. I'm getting over being ill and haven't been very hungry, and I still ate four of my six slices. My partner X, not known for her appetite, scarfed 5/6 of her zucchini pizza and saved the last piece for breakfast. A hungry person could certainly demolish a whole pizza. They look big, but the crust is so thin that the total mass is probably about the same as a couple of thick-crust slices from your average by-the-slice place, and much tastier.

My partner J had the rigatoni with mushrooms; he declared it excellent, and asked for more bread so he could sop up the last of the sauce.

The staff were fabulous, friendly without being smarmy or overbearing. They even cracked up at our jokes. We will definitely be going back.

    This place is amazing.
It's the perfect balance of comforting and inventive.

They have perfect thin-crust pizzas with the most unlikely yet delicious toppings, as well as good pastas with equally great flavor combinations.

The pizza specials change daily, which is great.

And they have 4 types of pizza by the 'slice' - regular mozz, and 3 types of everchanging 'rustica' foccacia style pizza, which change daily.

Everything is reasonably healthy, and not greasy at all.

As other reviewers have said, this is the kind of great neighborhood place that you want to take friends from Manhattan and other places to.

This place made me hate New york pizza. I ordered the Diavola, which comes with sun-dried tomato pesto, spicy salami, mozzarella, and peperoncino...but was thoroughly disappointed at the food. The dough was so thin, the pizza was almost crunchy. It was also SO oily that I felt like I was ingesting potato chips.

The service was good, but honestly, the pizza was just SO BAD that I just don't think they'd be able to redeem my ratings.

I hesitate to encourage you to eat at Amorina, because one of my favorite things about it is that I usually don't have to wait too long to get a table there!
Their pizza is amazing - the pasta is fine but really, get a pizza. They offer a decent number of vegetarian options. You can get a pizza loaded good veggies (and even fruit!) and you don't feel like a grease pit afterwards.
Salads are also a highlight - I can usually be convinced to pick whatever special they have that night.
The atmosphere is homey, warm, well-lit, and just the right size - not so much a romantic joint, but great for a casual meal. Seems pretty kid- and family-friendly (that should not dissuade the childless, either).

I'm not a fan.  Every time I order the eggplant parmesan, I am even more underwhelmed than the last time.  Two little slivers of eggplant, nothing on the side, nothing to eat it with.
This place is nothing to write home about.

This was our second visit to Amorina and it was excellent. The service is friendly and accommodating. Emily was our server but others came by when she was with other customers.

We both loved the bread which comes with olive oil and that they were happy to warm it up upon request. We then had the Cabonata (eggplant) salad which is served warm and is very good. For our main course we split (okay I as usual ate 2/3 of it) a superb Margherita pizza made with fresh mozzarella and basil. We especially were impressed by the thin but flavorful crust.

The place is small but decorated tastefully in its simplicity. The food selection is a little limited but they use quality ingredients and know what to do with them. Prices are average for the location. This is a neighborhood restaurant that makes outsiders feel welcome and full!

Not to sound like a Bertucci's ad (because this place is far... waay far above it), but Amorina is the classic neighborhood brick oven pizza spot.

Upon walking in, I was immediately hit with the warmth and aromas of the oven. A big deal for me in the fall and winter.

There were about six staff members in the small dining area who were multi-tasking between hosting, serving, and happily chatting with regular customers and their children. At first I couldn't tell who worked there and who was there for dinner. Then I felt bad for telling our waiter that I lived in the area and but I hadn't been there before.

I really like the choices of pizzas, perhaps more for the ideas than the execution, although mine was tasty--mushrooms and asparagus on fresh mozzarella with a drizzle of honey balsamic. The squash soup was also very good, and I was happy to see that they didn't skimp on the portion. They also get a bonus in my book for choosing a delicious olive oil for the tables.

Great service. Small quiet neighborhood restaurant. We had the Special salad: Arugula, persimmon, pistachio, and blue cheese. Capricciosa

Sometimes I judge a restaurant by the number of things I would change if I were in charge. There's not much at Amorina that I think should be done differently. All the parts are in place for what amounts to the perfect neighborhood cucina.

While the menu here may not be as daring or varied as the nearby Franny's, it provides the comforting satisfaction of consistency. I'm never disappointed (or bored) by a meal eaten at Amorina. The owners and staff are all super friendly. When the cooks goof around with the servers it gives the feeling that you're just going over to your fun cousin's house for dinner with the family. This is a restaurant with real soul.

Word of advice, the deliciousness of the Amorina pizza is somewhat reliant on the perfect serving temperature. Naturally, this is a difficult thing to get right for take-out or delivery. My rule of thumb is to eat the pizzas in-house, and stick to pasta and salad for take-out.

    An eclectic homey italian restaurant!

Ordered the endive salad with goat cheese, beets, and orange vinegarette. Perfect balancedbeings of sweet, bitter, and sour! I don't like beets but they prepare theirs that taste like candy, healthy candy!

Split the salad and the pizza with my partner. The pizza was also delicious! Thin crust topped with honey, figs, pear, and Gorgonzola. Its a must to dry if you love something sweet and salty.

For dessert, the ricotta cheesecake is light and creamy. Not too heavy after a full meal. Its topped with rum soaked cherries and orange zest.

I give this restaurant 5 stars for excellent dishes, polite non-overbearing service, and a family oriented feel!

I've only lived in the area for 3 weeks, and I've already been to Amorina's 3 times. It was recommended to me by a friend, and I am SO glad.

I love everything about this place. It's warm & friendly, the staff is beyond helpful, and the food is perfect authentic italian cuisine.

I've brought friends here as well and everyone has become obsessed. Definitely try the pizza with pears, figs, honey & gorgonzola. Also always go for one of the specials - the last time I was there my table and I split the soup special which was a chilled melon/mint soup (to die for) and an arugula salad with strawberries, walnuts, and goat cheese that was the perfect summer salad.

Amorina is a decent pizza place in Prospect Heights but is nowhere near on the level of Franny's. My friend and I shared the Ceci e Cipolle salad with fresh chickpeas, peppery baby arugula, crisp red onions, and a tasty balsamic vinaigrette and the Norma Pizza with a thin, crispy crust, marinated eggplant, fresh mozzarella, ripe cherry tomatoes, ricotta salata, topped with fresh basil and mint. It was a satisfactory though not transcendent meal. What spoiled my experience here was the service. Our waiter was simultaneously too hands-off and too hands-on, if you will. When he came around to tell us about the specials, he squeezed in way too close to my friend when there was absolutely no need to do so given that the table next to us was empty and the space was bigger than, say, Chavella's. After our food was delivered, it was impossible the flag the same waiter down for missing silverware and basic condiments as well as the check when it came time for that.

Not  entirely my thing although I LOVE Italian food.

I'm unimpressed by their selection - I wish there were more items that weren't as complicated.

    Does that make sense?

I love pasta but I like mine pretty simple. I don't need their entire menu to be simple pasta, like pasta in butter but there are just too many flavors going on in one dish.

I like their Margherita pizza (?) the crust is really tasty and the basil seems to always be fresh.

Peep the ceiling when you're in there. There are bunch of different kind of light fixtures. So cute! I love the assortment. Also, the decor is pretty funky. Something one should be used to in this neighborhood.

    Bon Apetite!

I was doing pretty well there for a while, resisting the daily temptation of Amorina.  Its sign promised breakfast pizza at lunch, I held strong.  Its daily take out special promised deliciousness at a budget price and still I maintained my will power.  Until a fateful night, tired after a loooooooong day at work with an empty refriderator not patience to wait for delivery I finally cracked my resolve and ordered.  Its changed my life.   The pizza was delicious, quality ingredients, perfect cheese ratio, slightly crispy crust.  PERFECTION!! Its quickly becoming a very dangerous habit.

I have been ordering Amorina since they opened hence, I like their pizza but their service is going down the drain. I hope that Albano the owner takes note that his staff is incapable of providing good take out service.

We waited patiently for 1 hour and I called them. The woman on the phone said, let me check and see.? She said that it would be another half hour. Usually I would have told someone like this to keep their effing pizza but I was starving! I am sure that she forgot to place the order with her kitchen.

No sorry, discount, or concession for their screw up! Nice dealing with you guys and you should understand that you are not the only game in town.

If you have patients for unnecessary arrogance go to Amorina.

I went here for some food and was very very let down. Their meatballs were not mixed properly. Last time I checked meatballs had a variety of meat, bread, and parmigiana cheese in them. It seemed as though they had just hamburger and then were chucked in the oven.
The meatballs tasted like...cardboard.  Disgusting! I also ordered a salad. The waitress  brought me the wrong salad. I said no big deal, lettuce is lettuce but she did not check on us, or try and make it up to me by offering a comp or maybe a complimentary cappuccino or desert.
Other than the flaky service I wouldn't go back there cause I did not have a good experience with the food.

"At Amorina, each pizza is made with only the highest-quality ingrediants: King Arthur unbleached flour, Muir Glen organic tomatoes, freshly made mozzarella, Italian extra-virgin olive oil and Mediterranean sea salt." - from the take out menu.

That explains why the pizza is SO GOOD... before I even read that, my boyfriend and I talked about how the sauce and cheese were definitely high quality.. I don't mind paying a little extra when you can taste the difference, although we had to opt for the take out special ($5/2 slices and a soda- good deal) because we only had $12 cash and they don't take cards. I think they would do better if they made it more like a pizzaria with ambiance, rather than a restaurant with a take out option. The place has always been empty when we've walked by and it was a little funny because when we walked in, all of the employees were sitting at a table eating... I felt like I was walking into a dinner party uninvited. I'd love to try the pasta dishes, they run about $10-12.50 and they deliver, so I'll update when I've tried that.

Definitely reccomend the pizza if you like fresh ingrediants and thin, cripsy, delicious crust. Mmm... we went yesterday, but I want to go back today!

If you're ordering by phone, ALWAYS ask what the specials are. You could miss out on something totally delicious.

As for the staples, the lasagne is quite good. If you're accustomed to the ultra-American, super-heavy lasagne with thick, wavy pasta and lots of ricotta, you might not be into this. This is more like the lasagne I had while living in Florence-- besciamella, a nice ragù, more delicate sheets of pasta, a dusting of parmigiano... yum.

I'm also partial to the tortellini bolognese, the pizza norma, and pizza capriciosa. Good stuff. Not my favorite crust (Franny's has my favorite crust still), but the toppings more than make up for it.

Sad. I wanted it to be so good. I was excited for it to be so good.
My roommate and I had been talking about going here for months, so a rainy Friday night was a great excuse to give it a try. We wound up ordering in- and at the very least, the woman on the phone was very nice and helpful- the service was prompt.

    The food? Borderline yucky.

We shared the Delizia salad- the beets were tough, and the whole mess of very yellowed endive was caked in goopy globby goat cheese. The dressing was thick and tasteless- and I wound up leaving most of my portion untouched.

My roommates' eggplant parmigiana was, according to him, "Not great"- it looked bizarrely brown. The saving grace on my Tricolore pizza was a great crust, but overall- not even close to worth $10... it was mostly tasteless.

Sad times- we were so hopeful!

    http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Amorina reminds me of San Francisco's Pizzetta 211: small, expensive pizzas that taste great. But Amorina has more seating (not to mention really cool interior design), and also sells their special two slices plus drink for $5.

The pizza was very good-- some of my crew added salt to one of the pies, but we were all impressed that the spicy was actually spicy.  The pasta was good, & I really liked the bread.  The service on the other hand was pretty ridiculously bad.

Listen, I'm not a stickler for a pad of paper.  I get that maybe you feel cool without one.  You make the diners uncomfortable, though, & hey!  The guy at the counter writes up a ticket-- why not save him the trouble?  Anyhow, all of this is moot if you DON'T HAVE A GOOD MEMORY.  Seriously, if you can't remember our order, get a pad of paper.  See how that works?  Anyhow, we had to ask for the check a couple of times, & I had to ask the other server for more water-- to be fair, she seemed to be a good server, but she wasn't OUR server.

This space used to occupied by an old slice joint, but after renovating the space it looks like they kept around a few signs from the old place as mementos or trophies of war. From what I saw of how this places operates however, as opposed to most of the new pizza places opening in this area of Brooklyn, thankfully its the former. Its very homey inside, and they even had a kids' menu with a large mom-and-kid clientele to match. The menu was basic with only pizza, salad, and pasta, but had a good mix of basic and more ambitious options. The service was very friendly and relaxed, with the owner front and center but not lording over things. I loved this place as an establishment, and thankfully the food matched up.

The pizza I got was called "Will to Live" This was worth ordering if not only for the epic receipt I received at the meal, as it was labeled on there as such. Anyway, it had fresh mozzarella, shallots, pecorino romano, blood orange slices, and watercress. While this sounds like one of those pizzas that a chef might think of when he's high, it simply worked. The crust was a great example of the Roman style: thin and crackery, with the end crust having some nice softness to it and a bit of char too. The mozzarella, romano, and shallots blended together beautifully, and were subtle and delicious. The watercress added a little pepper in, and the blood orange brought it all together. The bittersweet juice combined perfectly with the rest of the ingredients. The biggest reason I'm not giving a better rating is because the blood orange slices were cut way too thick on average, and there were far too many of them. They were overwhelming things, so I ate some of them off and we were good.  . Cheating notwithstanding, this was still a great combo and a great pie, and thus worthy of the rating.

Instead of super pretentious pizza restaurants, this is exactly the kind of simple places that need to open in New York because they will resonate with the local populace and thus do well. I'm also glad to see a Roman pizza place that represents the style well, as this is only the second I've found thats even worth mentioning. Very strange, seeing as pizza al taglio is similar to our grandma slices, and Roman pizza bears a resemblance to Staten Island "old-fashioned" style pizza. Suffice to say, this place is a winner and I will be back.

The food was good, but one star off for prices.  To give you an idea:
    - Nearly all pizzas are $10.50-$13.  It just seems a bit pricey for the neighborhood, although you might be able to split one if you both get appetizers first.
    - Pasta dishes are $9.50-$13.50 which is really pricey considering the portion isn't huge and any that include meat are only as meat sauces. The rigatoni w/ mushrooms dish I ordered was $12.50 for pasta, mushrooms and sauce!
    - All desserts are $5.25 for small portions.  Good if you're watching your waistline, bad if you're watching your wallet.

I didn't have a problem with the "kitschy" interior, it's fine.  Our server was a bit slow, but she was nice.  They also take cards for dine-in service.  Maybe they don't for take-out though, I haven't found out yet.

Best pizza in Prospect Heights and Clinton Hill. Of course I may be biased because I love arugula and they have a lot of menu items that include this delicious leaf.

An affordable, but not too affordable, cozy pizza place.

I also ordered from here on a cold and rainy night, and unfortunately am outside of their delivery area, but they made an exception, just this once they said, haven't tried again to confirm if that was true. What a treat, to receive from a gorgeous man on a bicycle a pile of the most delicious, hot pizza on a cold night.

I just happened upon this place after a doctor appointment and it was better than I could have expected.  I had my 4 year old son with me and I was happy to see they had a kids menu section.  I ordered one of the pizza specials - artichoke, cherry tomato and balsamic reduction-and it was honestly one of the best thin crust pizzas I've ever had.  My son was happy with his pizza.  We had enough to take home as leftovers. The only thing I don't love is that the place is pricey.  The service was very good.  It was just what we needed on a Wednesday evening for quick but delicious meal.  We don't live in the neighborhood, but I would return.  It really is a sweet, neighborhood place.  I noticed a lot of pizzas going out on delivery, so people are lucky who get to order from there for delivery pizza.

It's not all that often that a business makes such an overwhelmingly positive impression the first time you set foot through its doors.  But Amorina did just that.  I wandered in off the street, in hopes of getting some takeout pizza to bring to a nearby bar, and, considering it was a cozy and busy table service joint, expected to get loads of attitude.

Not so.  The staff--waiting at the back counter where the pies are made--couldn't have been more pleasant and accommodating.  And the pizza, well, it was also excellent.  I had a slice of the marinara and the last two remaining "rustica" slices (square, that is) with various different cheeses and toppings that were fresh and tasty.  And tab? $7.  Terrific.  (And those seven bucks would normally include a bottle of soda, but since I ain't a cola drinker--even if Amorina do have some of them fancy locavorist beverages--I passed.)

I'll be back, both to sit down and have a proper meal, and get some more take out.

    Tastes like chicken.

Me and my gf wanted to try a new italian place and decided to trek it to Amorina to give it a shot.   Service was good, seating a little bit cramped.  They do not accept credit card, it's cash only, hope someone updates that.

I went for the spaghetti and home made marinara sauce.... first bite seemed very familiar... but not in a bad way.  Asked my gf for a bite... and she said it tasted like chicken bullion...  and gosh darn it... she was right... it tasted like chicken ramen!! seriously.

It tasted like I was eating spaghetti in a creamy chicken ramen sauce.  It wasn't a bad thing, but I certainly didn't feel like I was eating italian.

My gf had the rigatoni and mushrooms, that tasted ok from what I had.

I also had an individual pizza, nothing special, but again not bad.

Wouldn't discourage anyone from visiting, but can't say I'm super eager for another visit.

    Simply not worth it.

13 dollars for a small plate of pasta with a few mushrooms?  I don't own a restaurant, but I'm going to assume that the markup on that dish is at least 800%.  A dyslexic dog with cataracts could have made my meal.

But hey, if you don't mind doling out cash for meager portions of pasta covered in butter (is that what Italian food is?), go nuts ..

Pizza is absolutely amazing.  The crust is a work of art.  I think they blow away Franny's in this regard.

I have never had a good experience with any of their pastas, though.  I would stick with the pies.  And as others have mentioned always consider the special pies.  The butternut squash pizza is insanely good.
