This place is with a doubt the best Italian Restaurant in Stamford ( pound per pound) .
The chef Alfonzo , it's an unbelievable cook. His food is in constant touch with new italian culinary trends. In addition he is obsessed with FRESH and organic ( huge for me ). Furthermore, he is an incredible host and gives you what every Italian restaurant Strives for : home feeling with a touch of class.
Can't review the pizza ( but just won best pizza in Stamford , over colony who held the pedestal for a while. Not surprise at all..
The specials have an edge and the food it's great. The prices , are on the upper side ( cosindering the location and restaurant ambience). Having said that they are above pelicci's and below siena( closer to Columbus trattoria ) the location has an Arthur's ave aroma. The most unique dishes are in my perspective the : bronzino ( carved masterfully at table side) and my favorite Pork chops gorgonzola. Their home made dressing is to die for and the ricotta cheesecake .. Maron!! -

I'm picky when it comes to pizza. I'm from New York where good pizza is fairly standard. I spent a while trying pizza in the Stamford area that I loved. This place has traditional, thin crust, pizza. Light cheese, good sauce, crispy crust. Not greasy at all, which I cannot stand. I have had one bad experience out of the dozens of times I've eaten here. The pizza was once soggy on takeout but I have never experienced that again. They serve gluten free pizza which my friend really enjoyed (she said it was the best she ever had). The pizza is reasonably priced but other menu items are a bit pricey. Honestly I like the pizza so much, I have never ordered anything else but a salad, which is decent and shareable with two people. I highly recommend this place. This is a place for true pizza fans. Very similar to Roma's in Tuckahoe, NY. Tasty!!!

This place has gone way downhill. The food is just okay, but the service is atrocious. I was only a party of 2 while a party of 10 was there so we got NO service whatsoever. We couldn't even finish our meal because no one came to refill our water or drinks or ask if everything was okay. My boyfriend ordered a meal with a description of an "abundance of lobster" in it....4 tiny bits is not an ABUNDANCE to me. It took 30 minutes to even get our check. Basically, we were completely and totally ignored. $80 and I can't even get some more water? I will never step foot in this restaurant ever again.

Disappointing. Service was awkward and a little slow. The menu looked great and I was really looking forward to it based on the other reviews. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre and overpriced.

One of the great hidden gems in the Springdale neighborhood. Amazing Italian food run by a great family. You don't find too much of that anymore!

For once, I allowed my boyfriend to choose the restaurant a few nights ago. I'm the foodie in this relationship, and usually if I let him choose we end up at Subway or Duchess. So, given the oppurtunity, he did a little research, read a few reviews and chose Amore, in Stamford.
I had never heard of it, nor had he, he was messing with my tastebuds blindly! At first, I was a bit nervous...the place was...a little dated, a little out of the way, a bit too quiet, in a little shopping center in a part of Stamford I never knew existed.
Then I looked at the menu. There were 10 things I wanted, and he felt the same. So we started with apps...clams oreganato and a small pizza with grilled chicken, hot and sweet cherry peppers, and sausage. What I loved about the apps were that they actually did what they're supposed to do, entice your appetite! The clams were flavorful, very lightly breaded, fresh oregano, and a nice lemony broth. The pizza, perfect, light on the toppings, great sauce, crust was thin, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. I'm curious as to what type of oven they use, not brick, not a standard blodgett, I should've asked.
Then dinner...I had shrimp, clams, and scallops over linguini. Seafood and pasta is one of my favorite combos. My concern always is that the seafood is often just boiled in a tasteless sauce. This was not the case. The seafood and the sauce were perfect. Lot's of garlic, lemon, parsley, butter, wine, seafood broth of some sort. When I finished the entire bowl, I wanted to tip the bowl so that I could drink the sauce! My only complaint is that they used bay scallops which I do not prefer.
The service was good, a nice attentive young man helped us as best as he could, seemed like he was the only waiter. We moved outside for coffee and enjoyed the busy little street the restuarant is on. I would go again, and soon. It's not for special occasions, and its a little casual and dated, but who cares! -

Great place for everything Italian; pizza, pasta, desserts. The wait staff is friendly and owned by a great family.

Just rated Stamford's Best Pizza - okay, so we have try it. The pizza was greasy and undercooked. OVERRATED. We were also charged $16.95 for spaghetti with butter for the kids. Really?? What kind of butter were they using - were they churning it in the kitchen by hand??? They used boxed spaghetti too. No sauce, no meatballs. Just plain old pasta and butter for a child. $16.95!!!! The large pizza cheese was only $14. Ridiculous. We obviously won't be returning. Better pizza made with fresher ingredients with a warmer, family atmosphere at Remo's on Bedford.
