Chocolate lovers rejoice!  Amore Chocolate Pizza is open at Town Center Plaza and rumor has it they are in the process of frachising, so soon enough there might potentially be chocolate pizza everywhere.

This place is not for the faint of heart.  I can eat chocolate with the best of them, but I definitely overdid it on this particular afternoon.

A client of mine had a baby shower at Amore and I made the mistake of not eating lunch prior to my arrival so I was starving.  The spicy hot chocolate coupled with the chocolate pizza was enough to send the least diabetic prone person into diabetic shock.

While the chocolate treats are among the best in the city, I would encourage you to take it easy on  the chocolate.  If you are having the hot chocolate, skip out on the chocolate pizza - or, just bring one home with you for later.

Homemade family owned style looking establishment.  Friendly staff.  Purchased both Toffeelicious and Coffeelicious, both to die for if you are a chocolate lover.

Toffeelicious is only made with milk chocolate (small negative for me. I love dark), hard chocolate so be careful if you try to break the pizza with a bite (don't tell your dentist, they will not be happy about the abuse you put on your teeth nor sugar).

Coffeelicious is yummy with a cookie bottom a little easier to break by hand, and is a coffee and chocolate lover's dream.  =)

Small Pizza is about $3.95 Medium about $6.95 and there wasn't a large in the flavor I enjoyed.

Other flavors they had was: Dark Chocolate coconut, which looked good but i'm not a huge coconutty fan.
    And other Milk Chocolate flavors.

They also serve food and coffee in the store it is not just a small candy shop but a whole establishment with deserts and tables to relax and savor the chocolate.

Out of Towner's Comment: Do Not I repeat follow what Garmin says when you look up Amore and it takes you to: 114 West 20th St Leawood, KS
I love Garmin and Garmin products but since the journey we went on took us to the dirt road I addressed above to not go to, it was a funny journey, coming from Oak Park Mall in Overland Park to journey about 30min to the other end of Leawood and find a dirt uninhabited location.  Then to realize that the Groupon address was different and 4821 W 117th St near Roe, basically 5 minutes from our original starting point.  We went back another 30 minutes to finally find the Chocolate Pizza Company in a newly built strip mall.

The owners confirmed they were never at the West 20th St location so honestly I still do not know what the heck Garmin was thinking, especially being headquartered here!

I felt like I was in someone's house, but not in a welcoming way. The decor is really outdated and uncomfortable. It seems as though this business was thrown together in two days. Everything is really expensive, five to six dollars for a gross latte (weak espresso, too much syrup, no foam). I had to throw it away, it was not drinkable. There's nothing special about a round disk of chocolate shaped like a pizza either. Spicy hot chocolate was OK. They really need to step this up in order to survive...

Had a dealbug for here.  I walked in to friendly staff to explain the many items for sale.  I decided on a variety of almost all the single serve chocolate pizzas.  Although I wasn't knocked over with the chocolate, the pizzas were good and favorable in the different kinds.  I would like to try one of the different desserts next time. They look yummy in the pictures.

I love their chocolate but dislike their business practices. They pay employees minimum wage and then don't pay them on time. They say they can't afford to pay them. Well their employees also have bills. Not a good way to conduct business.

History

Established in 2006

Annette had been making chocolate pizzas for theatre productions for four or five years when she heard a whisper suggesting to start a business.  Starting as an online corporate gift she developed the four milk chocolate pizza flavors and went into business.  In a short period she and her husband Chris decided to expand into a wholesale business and started selling to gift stores like Prairie Patches in Lawrence, Kansas.  When the economy turned south in 2008 and small stores were reluctant to order inventory she decided to change directions and open a "Chocolate Bar" like she had heard of on the coasts.  With a lot of hard work and some luck they landed in Town Center Plaza in Leawood where we are today.  We have expanded from our original flavors to 8 different flavors and added a number of desserts.

Meet the Business Owner: Annette C.

Annette has always loved acting and performing.  She acted throughout high school and college and moved to NYC to pursue her dreams for 14 years.  Then her high school boy friend convinced her to leave NYC and start a family.  Friends convinced her to audition for Fiddler on the Roof at Lawrence Community Theatre and she was right back into it.  There's a custom of sharing "opening night" gifts, if you are the lead you give something to everyone in the cast and crew and a musical can have upwards of 100 souls.  After several lead roles Annette decided to do something special and developed the Break-a-leg Chocolate Pizza.  Several years latter she heard a whisper suggesting she make your treat into a business and share her love with the world.  With the help of her husband and friends she has turned her passion into a Dessert Cafe Please stop by and see how the dream is evolving.
