You walk into a place and see a bunch of old people passing out birthday cake, you may develop some notions about what the place is like.  The terms "pathetic" and "decrepit" may come to mind, especially if you're a bit of an asshole, like me.

Put them away, because this place is awesome.  The staff is friendly, they have table service, the menu looks awesome.  Lots of Greekish goodies. The hummus was purchased, the hummus was good enough to encourage further exploration.

The place has a few too many tables and the weird coupon slot machine should be avoided.  It says right on there you may get nothing for your fifty cents.

They spiced up their patio! It's now adorned with some lush potted flowers and a soothing fountain in the corner. Speakers on the patio allow patrons to enjoy the music while relaxing under the umbrella-covered bistro tables.

Amor also offers up some unique perks, such as ladies night, where parties of four or more women get a free appetizer. The PBR is always $1.50. And the lentil soup with spinach and ample pocket bread is well worth the $3.50 price tag.

I love love love Amor, I work a block away so I go in all the time. The people are so nice and the food is amazing. I walk in and I get a big hello and a glass of water sitting on the bar before i can make it there. The lunch specials are good, the happy hour is amazing and they are starting to do belly dancing soon!
I love going there for so many reasons, most of all it feels like family, and that's better than anything.
Also, they have a couch and a love seat and a coffee table that's so comfy. I had a bunch of friends out for happy hour and it was perfect.

Part three of the LoFoPo (again, don't punch me, I'm just having a bit of fun here) BURGER CHALLENGGEEEE!

I really wanted Amor to be the winner here, but they ended up being the weiner. Why? Well, I know it's supposed to be about burgers, but in this case I was distracted by some awful, awful, awful, awful french fries.

In short, they tasted like freezer burnt, generic-plastic-bag-grocery-store, oven fries. Nasty. One french fry altered my entire Amor Lounge experience.

Why did I want them to win? Because it's a homey place and I can tell it's a family-run establishment. I felt like I was in someone's living room decorated like a bar. It's a regulars establishment.

The burger? I mean, it was a good deal. I'm sure the patty was hand-formed. But these days it's almost like you have to go out of your way to not serve non-Sysco beef on a non-Sysco bun with non-Sysco condiments, because many Portlanders have come to expect more. But I felt like I ate a Sysco burger, and that's about that.

But the fries. Damn, they were bad.

A few months ago another establishment in town took far too long to get rid of a dead rat somewhere under their bar. The smell still lives on in my brain. And so does the taste of those french fries.

The lure of the gyro lunch special drew me in. There was one other diner there when I arrived and he paid and then firmly, but politely, let the server know that the burger was *really* bad. I had already ordered and wondered why, off a menu of mostly Middle Eastern food, a patron would get an American item and be surprised when it was no good. Anyway, the gyro was delicious and server was very friendly. It's a shame that they don't allow minors in during the day. I would have brought the whole family in for lunch. Oh, well, I'll definitely be back.

This is a surface-skim review -- I've been here just once, with my wife, on a weekday evening.

The surface is pretty good, though. Amor Lounge replaces some dive bar or another along Foster Road with casual Mediterranian dining. The interior is well-decorated and there's a small patio. The place also has it's own parking lot, a bonus for the driving set.

The drinks were decent for the price, the service was pleasant and attentive, and the food was tasty, albeit a bit basic. For example, the hummus appetizer was just that -- hummus and bread. If you want feta and olives, you have to order the (surprise!) feta and olive plate. It is pretty good hummus, however, and if you're willing to accept the no-frills approach it's worth the money.

We'll definitely head back for some patio dining. I think Amor Lounge is a welcome addition to Foster.

I suppose the relevance of this rating depends upon what you are looking for. It's clean, quaint, and the staff are friendly. If you are in search for inexpensive food and cheap drinks this may be your spot. However, if you are hoping to find a hole in the wall with great food this is NOT the location you want to visit. The humus and baba ganoush are edible, but nothing I want to relive. Each have a pungent lemon-garlic flavor. The only thing that distinguishes one from the other is the slight variation of color. The gyros is giant, filled with veggies, and saturated with sauce. I'm sure its great if you have been drinking and need to line your stomach, but if you are hoping for savory flavor you will be disappointed. The seasoned meat was undetectable. Even after dissecting the lean slices of lamb from the overwhelming sandwich the flavor was reminiscent to heated pre-packaged deli meat. If you are looking for a casual place to hang out with out any expectations of being dazzled, Amor is the place to be.

incredible happy hour- the middle-eastern food is delicious- the family that owns and runs the place and all of the servers are incredibly welcoming and nice. Has to be one of the cheapest places to drink micros in town and the service is great. Sold.

    I love the Amore lounge.
Honestly, I was at first, very skeptical of it for some foolish notion, but once I was there I knew that it was my new favorite neighborhood place. Food is inexpensive but good. I was there on a Saturday night and it was pretty quiet except for me and my friends. The owner had conversations with several of us, and the waitress was sincerely welcoming and inviting us back. It was a great experience, and I hope that they do well. The baba ganoush was enough to win me over!
