THE best restaurant in the Littleton area by far. The restaurant is called Melanie's Bistro and the inn and restaurant are located in a remote part of Lisbon. My husband and I have been dining here for 2 years now during our visits to the White Mountain area. Our meals have been prepared to perfection every single time. Pasta dishes are always cooked al dente - you could be in Italy. The menu occasionally has a dish or 2 with a hint of Spanish influence - I especially look for these entrees. Karen, the chef, is top notch and it's a real treat to have such quality in a "woodsy" area.
I will say the atmosphere is very quiet and, while we like that, some might be bothered by so few people eating at the restaurant. -

A great meal last night at the Ammonoosuc Inn/Melanie's Bistro. The food was excellent. There were six of us, and everyone raved about how good it was! The service was wonderful, ambiance was great. Loved it and will be back!

Wow, this was quite unexpectedly good. Thanks Yelpers, we'd have never found this place without you. Off the beaten path doesn't quite do it justice, this is a fairly typical northern New England Inn, with a teeny tavern/bar and a nice unpretentious dining room. You will never drive by it, you need to seek it out. 4 of us dined, 1 had the Chicken Pot Pie with puff pastry, I had the strip steak with Gorgonzola, one had the eggplant and the last a Caesar salad. We all had the French Onion soup, which was delicious, not too beefy nor too salty, piping hot, with a homemade crouton. Everything was delicious, cooked perfectly, service was attentive and personal, and dinner for 4, with cocktails and wine, was under $150. A meal this good, if you could get it, would cost double in North Conway or Lincoln.
If you find yourself in this neighborhood seeking a fine meal, this is a real gem. Make a reservation though! The chef worked alone tonight and we nearly got shut out. It's worth it. -

Did not stay at the Inn, just ate here. I'm often a cheap date, so I opted for the Ammonoosuc Burger with sauteed mushrooms, onions and cheddar. It might've been the best I ever ate. My husband got something more grown up...some kind of pasta with lobster, etc. He loved it. Very tasty drinks...martinis, I think...heh. Magnificent veranda with incredible view. I think it's located on the Lisbon Village golf course so there's golfcart traffic on the premises to be aware of. Look for getaway golf and skiing packages on their website.

My boyfriend and my valentine's day get-away consisted of hauling over to NH for a gig he had at cannon mountain ski resort, with his band (the chicken slacks!), so we decided to make a night out of it. After he finished up the show, we headed to the Ammonoosuc Inn. Many twisty turvy roads later, we had gone over the river and through the woods, stumbling upon this haven. Very excited, and not knowing what to expect, we gathered our things, and as we walked up to the front porch, there was a lovely wedding reception taking place right in the dining room. Candles filled the space, and hints of red and pink. It was small, and fabulous. We walked in the front entrance, adjacent to the scene, and looked forward at those having valentine's day dinner, complete with red roses adorned on each table. The fellow who checked us in was the owner (along with his wife), and is a native New Yorker, who up and bought this place, and now calls it home. (You'd want to leave New York for here too.) It is one of the most clean, welcome inns I have been to...and I interned at a boutique hotel in Philadelphia last spring so I know how these things go... Anyway, there is a space to play board games, and fireplaces, and even a darling coffee/reading the paper-type room before you mosey on over to your room, which by the way there are only nine of! We stayed in the Chardonnay Room-which was on the lower end of the rooms-but truly I couldn't have pictured anything quite nicer than it. Although small as rooms go, it had a plenty large enough full size bed, with nearly 10 pillows to spare! Decorated pleasantly, and views that will blow your mind, it was ideal for our special night. The bath tub was lovely as well, and although not much as shower pressure goes, it wasn't important. I took many photographs that next snowy morning when we finally could see what exactly was right out our window (because we got in late the night before), and it was gorgeous! Thanks to the owners and congrats to the new bride and groom! ALSO, we had fantastic breakfast that following morning (which, by the way, is included in the rate). I believe they have one woman cooking breakfast and it was quick...granted...there was only one other couple seated when we walked down! Very delicious. So, if you need a quick get-away (like we did), or are thinking of planning a small wedding...something like 50 guests... get on up here to this beautiful inn and restaurant. I've heard it's just as wonderful, if not more, in the summer, so I know I'll be making another trip :) There's going to be a spa coming shortly as well, which will just make this place absoluuuuuuuuutely perfect! As if it isn't already! We had such a nice trip, only wish it could have been longer!

I have eaten here once a year for three years now and have always been here in the month of January which is a quiet time for tourists in the area. The Inn and Restaurant are run by a couple who relocated to Lisbon from New York. They have a dining room, but when I have been there only the pub has been open which has been just fine because it is a coxy place with a few tables and small bar. There is a great drink menu and then a list of entrees to choose from that should have something for every taste. In the summer and fall they have golf and will host events and corporate retreats.
