this is a GREAT place to buy a gift for the female S.O., not only because of the unique stuff you don't see everywhere but especially because the super-friendly owner (Amita) will help you choose just the thing. There is some stuff for guys as well - pens, watches, business card holders, etc - but the selection is mostly in the lotions/jewelry/handbags girlie stuff category.
the prices seem reasonable for the high quality merchandise on offer. it's not exactly cheap, but that's the point - "hey baby i got this for you at walmart" is not going to score you a lot of points. -

Artful, functional items from a business owned by a kind and responsible community member (who shared in earnest just how much she goes out of her way to support local businesses). Plus, ornate chocolates sweetened with *honey* and made with other clean ingredients by a local artisan.

Finally! A spot to shop in the Wallingford Center!
I'm always so bummed when I go to Trophy Cupcakes and can only browse in the boutiques that have an obsession with purple crushed velvet and long embellished tunics.
The fantastic selection of leather purses is what first drew our eyes to this little shop tucked away behind the stairs on 45th. They aren't high end purses, but ridiculously cute brightly colored leather bags, with fantastic details, and good stitching.
They also carry candles, magnets and other boutique types of nicknacks, but it's really their bag collection that sets them apart from other boutiques, and I saw nary a whimsical "positive affirmation" charm in the place. Score. -

Well this was a cute surprise.
If you walked past this store too quickly, you would definitely miss it. It's seriously the size of my kitchen, but in it are a ton of adorable finds. My scores included a really cool handmade purse, a kittan wallet and a groovy scarf that is soo cute and actually really warm. All were moderately priced and definitely one of a kind little gems and if you are in the market for a gift for someone who adores all things cute, then stop in here.
It's also in the same mall as the cupcake place and YUM! One, two punch!Listed in: Seattle Hot Spots!

This is a cute little hole inthe wall gift store with a wide assortment of ever-changing items.
I have to hand it to the sales staff.. they are outdoors. Always. In rain and snow and sleet and cold and shaded afternoons in hot weather.
Why a 4 not a 5? I have not found something which I have bought and also some of the accessories as nice as they are are a bi tmor eexpensive than I would wish to pay.
I may change my mind someday. -

Handbags aren't a fetish of mine (I'm more of a shoe extraordinaire), but when I step into Amita, I find myself giggling and drooling in excitement. From functional to funky, Amita (both the woman and the shop) will have something that meets your needs/desires.
While most of the bright colors, appliques and shapes aren't my style, there is something identifiable for everyone I know. And when I said most weren't my style, I didn't mean all: my current tote that is literally (almost) affixed to my body is from the one and only Amita. It transforms into a hand bag, shoulder bag AND lap top bag (for less than sixty bucks!) and it is plain, black, vegan, and North American-made (Canada)--just the way I like it.
Oh, oh, and check out their solid perfumes in portable tins (no funny stuff added either--all natural)! -

I've been visiting Amita for years, and I always have trouble controlling myself! Although it's in a very small space, there are many, many great things! The owner is a sweetheart, and has an amazing eye for detail. I love the jewelry and handbags (and am giving in and buying a purple handbag that I can't stop thinking about...)
I highly recommend Amita. -

Super small, but really great goods and accessories for (mostly) that lady in your life.
Candles.
Little decorative clocks.
Handbags and other accessories.
Goods from abroad and from local craftsmen as well.
Super nice owner. -

An absolute one stop shop for gifts or for a reason to treat yourself with quality accessories and clothes. You can't go wrong here as long as you have a little extra cash to spend. Not only do you get a handful of sustainable, local, green items you also find yourself chatting it up with Amita herself!
Don't be fooled by the size of this shop. Although it is the size of some walk-in-closets it has an eclectic collection of goods. You can find handmade, milled in the U.S. handbags made by Maruca among other sustainable bags, sweeten up with Pacifica, a vegan bath product made in Portland, browse through the silver, one of a kind jewelry. No worries about your carbon footprint here! Not only will you win brownie points for finding a very unique gift but will also feel good for keeping it local! -

The store resembles what I would think the house of a well-organized hoarder would look like. But, unlike the house of a stereotypical hoarder, Amita smells very nice and you'll be amazed at the colors inside.
I came to this store because I was looking for a Christmas present for my sister who likes candles. Found some nice small soy candles for her. Yes, a little pricey, but chatting with the owner made the trip worthwhile. Very nice woman.
Amita carries unique and memorable merchandise.
I'd definitely come back to Amita to buy presents. -

When you just can't find that unique and perfect gift for someone, swing by Amita in the Wallingford Center. Handmade gifts from Tibet, one-of-a-kind jewelry made by the owner, Amita and imported clothing from Australia make for a difficult time when trying to make a decision.

This is one of my favorite stores in Seattle. It's unique and stylish. You can definitely find something fun for that special friend, especially that friend you call self. I found a Matt and Nat bag back in December. I'm still using it and love the quality, durability and style. The store owner is truly knowledgeable about her products and she's helpful in the non-overbearing kind of way.

I discovered Amita while working on a photo assignment for Wallingford Center Merchants Association. As I perused Amita's collection of fine gifts a beautiful dark fuschia colored Lodis wallet caught my eye and it featured greatly in the final assignment. I loved it so much I had to go back and buy it. Amita's selections are beautiful and authentic. Definitely worth the expense.
