For the shy, for the unsure. For those with two left feet, and for those who are too afraid to dance in fear of offending others. This class is for you.
Unpretentious and down to earth, Amina is one of the most friendliest instructors you will ever meet. Her classes focus on the basics to hip-hop dancing and provide a good base to learning advance moves later on (level 2). I think one of the most important things to take away from the classes is the confidence that is gained from moves learned independently, used within choreography, and the freestyling with other members of the class. I'm positive you'll become a better dancer if you take this class and realize everyone there is just trying to have some fun. As an instructor, Amina is patient and encouraging to all of her students. Don't take this to mean that she won't be keeping a watchful eye on your form, like any good instructor she will be sure to critique and correct anything that is off.
Level 2 is taught by Stetson, who is accurately described by Amina as "not Diva like". He keeps the class fresh and fun with his brow low and the beat up tempo. Be prepared to break a sweat because you will be moving for the majority of the class. The class is much more fast paced and will require you to challenge yourself with moves that require more complicated steps. He also encourages much more freedom and freestyling, this is a way to develop your own personal style. I'm thinking of joining the next Level 2 class (each Level 2 class is different with new moves).
The main difference between the two: Level 1 will teach you the basics and raise your confidence level, Level 2 will teach you how to dance. -

The screenwriting classes are my absolute favorite! prof. L is awesome (yale professor) - very entertaining and you just want the class to go on forever b/c everything he's saying is just so interesting.
the dance classes are also great! amina and her instructors are really friendly and you end up making friends in the class. amina teaches the beginner class which is great because it can even teach the most clumsy dancers (like me) how to be good! i even went on to level 2 with stetson which was definitely more challenging and a great workout! with the discounts, the prices are extremely competitive and i think it's worth the investment.
Word on the street is that amina's going to be adding a cooking class soon and she also has a class called "the art of cool" - it's taught by a comedian, Tehran So Parvez (spelling?). Anyway, he's hilarious and definitely makes the class worth taking! -

I was the most awkward person ever in bars and clubs before taking Amina's hip hop dancing for bars and clubs class. I had taken other dance classes here and there in the past but they always focused on some crazy choreography that was of no help when I actually went to a crowded bar.
Amina's class is different because she focuses on single moves that you can groove to all night at a bar or club. It's amazing how after a few weeks with her you're already one of the better dancers in most clubs.
She also has class club outings every session which is awesome cause you get to go out and use the new moves with Amina and your new friends from class. If you're at all shy about jumping into hip hop dancing, the kind you can actually use in clubs and not look ridiculous, Amina's class is perfect for you.

I have always liked to go out, but I never really knew any moves. I had even tried to imitate dances from music videos, but just couldn't seem to make my body perform . Amina can really break down how to make the moves work, even for someone like me who thought they had no rhythm. She was extremely patient with everyone in the class, and had a great attitude when it came to her students. I would recommend her class to anyone interested in learning how to dance the basics in hip hop, and I am looking forward to her more advanced class.

Teaching class is one of my favorite parts of the day. I love being rewarded by seeing my students improve, but also want my students to have as much fun learning as I have teaching. My class is a safe environment for students with little to no experience in dance to feel comfortable, meet new friends through class and class club night out, and have fun; All while learning steps and getting a workout. I can teach body isolations and basic coordination to students of any age and level. I've been taking dance lessons since I was 3 years old and in some of them the teachers were so mean and serious that they made me (and other students) actually cry! I'm a lot more laid back. My two main goals for my students are 1.) For my students to look so good after they finish the course that people ask them where they learned to dance and 2.) For my students to like the class enough to take Level 2 or another class with me or one of my other teachers :)
