Great Chips and Salsa.  Relatively clean.  Good Service.   Close to Authentic.  Not very flashy, but it is mexican afterall.

All of my friends and extended family seem to LOVE this place.
Amigo's has great, friendly service and their food isn't prepared poorly, or anything, its just not good (or authentic).

In case you've never been here, Amigo's serves what I call American-idealized Mexican-style food:
    1. most dishes covered in red sauce and shredded cheese
    2. canned refried beans as a side to every dish
    3. warm (bagged) torilla chips and fresh salsa

    C'mon, I've had better stuff in a shopping mall/airport food court/amusement park.

Here's my rule of thumb for Ethnic restaurants: if you don't see [insert Ethnicity] in a [insert Ethnicity] restaurant, run like hell!

Food: I've had much better. Bland and really basic. Although, a lot of food for the price.

    Service: Decent enough.

    Price: Most things below $10.

I had by far the worst service ever at this restaurant. After we were seated, we waited over 10 minutes before our server even bothered to acknowledge the fact that she had  a new table to serve. When other restaurants are busy, the server will at least come by and apologize for the inconvenience of the wait and at least take your drink order, but not here. Our server passed by our table at least 4 times before even looking at us. She was too busy dealing with a bigger tip table than to be bothered with a couple. Any time she did come to check on us, she was only at our table with enough time to drop off whatever she was serving leaving us no time to ask for anything else such as the straws we didn't get or another refill on pop when it was wanted. When we went to go complain to a manager, of course there was no manager on duty. Our server apologized and tried to blame it on the host, but how is her lack of service someone elses fault? Other than the service, the food could have been better. If it wasn't for the fact that they microwaved our meals, the food had potential to be good. Over all, I didn't enjoy my dinning experience and will probably stick to the Amigo's in Taylor for now on. The only way I would ever eat here again is if every other restaurant and grocery store closed down and they were the only place to eat.

Another great mexican place in downriver.  Amigo's and Mexican Gardens are near each other and I think they are starting to have a debate war on which place is better.  Amigo's or Mexican Gardens?

I would pick Mexican Gardens but Amigo's is right up there.  Actually it could even be a tie.  They both are similar in food taste.  Both places aren't the real authentic Mexican, it's the americanized "let's put white cheese on everything cooked in lard" restaurant but they both do it well.

The service is good and the chips and salsas are great.  You can't go wrong eating lunch or dinner here if you're craving mexican.

Some of the best Detroit area Mexican food. Lunch menu has a great selection at reasonably good pricing. Chips and sauce a plenty, only drawback would be could be warmer. The hot sauce is good but could be a little hotter. The food is always hot and fast. I go there for lunch at least once per week. The service has always been great.
