Stopped here on my someplace else.
I still think mediocre non chain food is 10 times better the most chain restaurants.
The place was clean
The service was fast and friendly.
The food was OK -

As a very general comment, if this is what passes for Mexican food in these parts, I'm glad I don't live here. Maybe growing up in Southern California has spoiled me, but in my opinion, even Taco Bell is more authentic than this.
That being said, the food was reasonably decent. Just not "real." I had some sort of a shrimp burrito with white queso sauce. It was OK, but not exceptional. The different varieties of salsa were not bad, though I wasn't too keen on the avocado stuff. I've definitely had better. I tried a margarita, and it was almost gag-inducingly sweet. I can make better margaritas at home (seriously, how can you screw up a simple combo of tequila, lime juice, and Cointreau that badly?).
On the plus side, the staff were very friendly, and the service was fantastic. Gotta give them credit for that. -

Go service, average food. The outdoor dinning was good, the drinks are good. Just not impressed with the place.
They push the Fajitas, and they are just par for burning meat and onions. -

We ate here passing thru for lunch. The atmosphere is colorful and festive. It's pretty loud. The parking lo was packed but we were seated immediately. chips and salsa came immediately as well. They bring a green and a red. The red is smooth and a little spicy but not anything to rave about.
We ordered the white, blanco queso- TO DIE FOR and worth the trip alone!
We ordered chicken quesadilla's- cheesy and yummy!
A taco and cheese enchilada plate- taco is different, the meat is just diff. But they stuff it full. The cheese enchiladas had tons of cheese in them but the chili meat sauce on top had a different flavor- hard to explain- but kind of tangy or vinegary. I only eat one.
We also had a tostada and tamale plate- he said they were nothing special and would've preferred Taco Bell's.
The server was friendly and says- amigo, amiga, señorita and so forth with every breath!
I would return only for the queso and skip anything with the beef meat- I'd go for the quesadillas.
We got some chips and white queso to go! :)
Also- FYI- motor home parking friendly- we just pulled down the side and in an empty lot behind the restaurant, easy! -

Eh, it was ok. Not bad, but I wouldn't go back. The salsa was so-so...could have been spicier...could have had more flavor. My tiny tamale was good, but too small, and the beef tostada was adequate. The margarita tasted like something you would buy premixed (very tart and limeade tasting), but, again, it wasn't bad. Service was good (our waitress was quick with salsa and chip refills) and friendly. We were able to walk here from our motel, which was a perk for sure.

Wow......I'm a first? Neat-o!!! Well here we go.....Amigo Juan's is a great place for mexican food in this soon-to-be-mass-marketed town. Their fajitas are awesome!!!! I usually don't order fajitas when I dine at mexican food restaurants, but I had to this time. Well lets back pedal for a minute......when you arrive you are greeted by the kindest, sweetest person in the world everytime. As soon as you sit someone brings out a multitude of salsas and a warm basket of chips. They usually give you the right amount of time to decide. We usually start each meal the same way: QUESO!!!!! They make a white queso which is unusual for Texarkana. Its so creamy and just the right amount of herbs and vegetables in it. Now back to the meals........there is nothing on the menu that is not good. The stuffed chilis are out of this world. And their tacos remind me of the kind of tacos you get at Fuel City: small and delicious. Fair warning: being on the Texas side of Texarkana they do require a Unicard in order to drink. But give'em a try next time you are driving on I-30 and need some food. You won't be disappointed.

GISUW and I went the other day.(6/17/2010)
Got in and got seated, no wait. Waiter was fast and friendly.
Chips were hot and salsa was fresh. Salsa wasn't chili pepper hot, but rather black pepper hot. Smooth, not chunky. I think the addition of (more) jalapenos, cilantro and salt would help. Maybe a little more texture would be nice. All in all not a bad salsa.
We ordered two Dos Equis and fajitas for two. Beef, chicken and shrimp.
Subbed out refried for frijoles and corn tortillas for the flour.
The guacamole was good. Not too much "stuff" in it, fresh.
The rice and beans were, well rice and beans. Nothing special. Beans weren't too fatty and the rice wasn't hard or soggy.
The fajitas were cooked nicely. Chicken was done without being too dry. Steak was actually tender! Not rubbery, hard or dried out! I could actually eat it without having to cut it up or bite into the meat and pull the bite away with my fingers. Shrimp, well shrimp is just too hard to cook correctly (or at least to my correct) Bell peppers & onions were cooked nicely with a range of textures and doneness. The seasoning on the fajitas was nice. Not over powering but just enough.
With the fajitas for two you end your meal with a sopapilla. One covered in honey, chocolate and powdered sugar. One look and it was gag worthy. I just pushed mine to the side. No way in hell was I gonna touch that sugary, slimy, gunky mess. It looked like a 3 year old prepared our dessert.
All in all a fair tex-mex fajita dinner for two. It's not on the weekly restaurant run, but more on the every couple of months and we are on that side of town run
