I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been going to this little haunt for so many years and the food not only is scrumptious, fresh, hot and lipsmacking... the service is top rate!
We are always welcomed like we are family and treated like royalty.
We love the employees and Lou the owner!
There have been times where we have had a reservation and had to wait some time, but... they will gladly open your bottle of wine so that you can drink while you wait. The pecorrino~reggiano cheese they give you to nibble on before the meal is fantastic as well as the toasted crusty bread and oil dipping.
You can never go wrong here with anything that you choose to dine on and the specials are amazing!!!
    This is a must do!

Great place to grab casual italian fare.  The service was fantastic (Theresa was attentive, funny, and made the dinner memorable).

Food was excellent - good portions, not too expensive and very flavorful.  Warm bread with hard cheese was a very nice touch and we enjoyed everything we ordered.  Two sides to the restaurant - one more a pizza place, the other a BYO restaurant.

Definitely a place we'll be back to - happy to recommend.

We here with my department , checking out our new neighborhood.  We are moving to Madison NJ in Dec 2012. Any who I ordered the checken parm and it was ok. Ordered calamari and that was really really.  The restaurant is a pizza shop on the left side and a sit down restaurant on the right side.

Had dinner here with my wife. We ate on the "restaurant side". Was impressed right from the start with the friendly staff who whisked away the wine I brought before we even sat down! The garden salads were as fresh as could be with a tasty understated dressing. The fresh bread was crusty , accompanied with a plate of olive oil for dipping and the side dish of romano cheese was excellent.
I had a chicken dish with spinach and mozzarella cheese on it in a very good tomato sauce, with a side of al dente spaghetti ,while my wife had the fresh eggplant parm. We both liked our entrees.
    Portions are big.
The staff is eager to please and the atmosphere is relaxed.
When I mentioned to our server that it was our first time here, he asked us our names and introduced himself. He came back later and gave a coupon for a future visit. We will be back!

Amicis is two restaurants in one -- a takeout/delivery pizza place that makes some good pies (their bruschetta pizza is especially good), and a sit-down restaurant that doesn't even serve the pizza.  Their pizza is pretty standard priced, their sit down restaurant seems a bit expensive for pizza-restaurant food, but not bad at all if you just think of it as an Italian restaurant.    Both sides of the restaurant are very nice, the people are friendly and happy to see you.  The sit down side does fill up on busy nights, so plan ahead, be ok with a little wait, or be prepared to go elsewhere.

There are a lot of pizza places in Madison, if you live here you should throw it into the mix with Romanelli's, Firehouse, etc.etc. as a good change.

Ate hear a while ago but from what I remember it was decent Italian food. Prices were very reasonable, portions were filling, and there was good service. It was a little more casual than Broccolini's across the street and I preferred that. Good place to get some dinner, I remember it being fairly packed in the summer.

    Worth checking out.

Outstanding. Friendly attentive service.  Hot fresh bread and big chunks of Parmesan.  Homemade meatballs with red peppers and mozzarella.  Kind of small but would totally go here again.

Great food! I use them all the time for corporate functions. They are pretty fast on delivery. The portions are pretty good for the money.

What an amazing little place.  My boyfriend and I started going here a couple of months ago, and we have fallen in love with this place.  Both the food and service is great.  The owner is also very visible, usually working the cash register on the pizza side of the restaurant
I really like the idea that along with giving you bread and oil at the beginning of the meal, they also bring you little chunks of parmesan cheese.  And for kids they give them a ball of pizza dough to let them play with (keeps them busy!)
We have had everything from their pastas to their meat entrees, and it all has been good.  Last night I had the penne with shrimp and he had the shrimp scampi.  Both were so good (actually they were so hot from being freshly prepared that we had to wait a couple of minutes before we could eat them) and the portions were huge - can't wait to have the leftovers.  I'm not sure if the desserts are made in house, but they are really yummy.
Only word of caution is that the place is small, so if you come later than 6 on a weekend night you're out of luck (make a reservation!) and it gets really noisy with all those tables full.

Not being in the area, some friends took us there last night. They made reservations, the food was fantastic, and plenty of it, Friendly waitress, I had a veal dish, which was unbelivably tender, I hightly recommend, but on weekends there is most likely a wait, not a fancy dining room, and a bit cramped, the prices are average. I would definitely go back again.
