This place is a welcome addition to the area.  I have tried a few of their pizzas and all have been fantastic.  The Ranchero is by far my favorite.  My family and I went there for brunch on a recent Saturday and everyone enjoyed their meals.  The prices are very fair and the food has always been well prepared and delicious.  If you get the chance you should definitely support this local business.

Don't let the small size fool you.

Unfortunately, this business is under new ownership and no longer offers the vegan options that prompted me to visit in the first place. I ordered the bruschetta but it came with Parmesan cheese sprinkles (my fault for only asking about butter) so I let my dinner companions eat it. I ordered a cheeseless veggie pizza, which was huge because they only came in one size. The mushrooms on the pizza were canned not fresh; I can get better pizza closer to home. The prices are a bit high and the food was just okay so I don't plan to return.

Hopefully this place succeeds, as the past two businesses in the building do not seem to have been so lucky.

We went there for breakfast today, and it was very good.  However, they serve "skinny people portions" so I was still left feeling hungry, but what we got was very good.  My boyfriend got the stuffed french toast, and I got an omelette.

We definitely want to try their pizza again sometime soon, as it looks like they added some new ones to the menu since the first time we went a while back.  Good thing they deliver :)

I wish them lots of success.  They have a very nice atmosphere and everyone working was really friendly.

A great local independant restaurant! A+ for having lots of vegan options including vegan chorizo. the pizza is really good and service is attentive, but not hovery. The place seemed busy on a friday night so i'd suggest either calling ahead or going a bit earlier (we went around 7). I would have given them 5 stars if they had other desserts than cheescake (it is good, but i'd like to see more variety). Also, music was great till the bob seger came on later in the evening:)

After reading a review in the paper and checking it out on Yelp, we decided to try Amici's. We really like to support the locally owned restaurants. We had been there when it was LaPergola. The location is a bit off Dorothy Lane, but that keeps the noise of the traffic down a bit. The place has a deck, so that is a great place to sit outdoors on a nice evening. I peeked inside and the interior looked pretty cool, so I wouldn't mind returning and sitting in there either.

One bummer is that they don't serve beer and wine yet, but they have vodka. Buckeye Vodka to be precise, so it's not a place for a martini. They have a house specialty Lemoncello drink. We tried it and I liked it, but husband did not. I would much rather have had a glass of wine, so hopefully that won't be too much longer before Ohio's red tape liquor laws let them have one. Until then BYOB would be nice, but they said no.

On to the food: We had Nachos Italiano to start. Tri-colored tortilla chips layered with house meatballs, mozzarella, onions, mushrooms & white sauce. I thought they were pretty good. For dinner we shared the Grazer pizza with spinach, green onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, & artichokes. The crust was thin and well cooked, albeit a bit bland, but that's what toppings are for, right? And the toppings were good. Amici's specializes in locally grown ingredients- a great concept.

I would definitely go back and recommend for you to try.

The vegan pizza with spinach and sun- dried tomato's is terrific. Also the vegan Nachos is great!  The management is friendly and always talk to us and asks how everything taste.

This was my first time there, and I'm already planning my next visit. I met a friend for dinner around six and there was a pretty good crowd for a Tuesday. Could be because it was so nice out. Pretty much everyone was sitting on the patio.

They just recently started serving beer and wine. I got some kind of cider that was so good, I had another. I ordered the Neptune pizza for dinner. The crust had a nice flavor that was not overpowering, and the crab, Gruyere, and garlic toppings and white sauce were delicious. My friend had the Buffalo Balls, turkey meatballs covered in Buffalo sauce. I tried them and was a little jealous that I hadn't ordered them myself.

Sounds like they have some exciting plans for the deck in the winter, so definitely check it out, even if it's cold outside!

    Vegan Pizza, anyone?

I've been twice so far. The first time, I ordered vegan pizza, and it was amazing. They use Daiya. My husband thinks it's the best vegan pizza we've tried yet, and for me, it's in the top 5 for sure.

We also had breakfast wraps that were veganized (Aloo Saag and the Mexican one -- see the pictures) and those were simply amazing. Great value and delicious.

I hear the vegan nachos are awesome! The vegan sausage sandwich was not really impressive -- just sausage, sauce, and daiya, pretty much.

I only give it 4 stars because the menu is only available at certain times, which really limits food choices. Also, the first time I went there, the food took 50 minutes. To be fair, the waitress told us they make their own bread and that bread would take 30 minutes, but since we ordered a pizza, I thought we would not have a problem. I even said that to the waitress, and she did not correct me. We had a problem -- I was so hungry it was uncomfortable and I scarfed my food without even tasting it. It was really sad for me because I don't like to scarf at all and it was my first experience there. I was scared to go back. It was 1 pm on a saturday, so I did not think food prep would trump lunch! This happened a couple of months after they opened, so I hope they have it together by now.

This is NOT the Amici's of 2011.

A change in ownership over the new year occurred.

This is now Casa Amici's.  It should be called the casa d'inferno (house of hell)

Service is HORRIBLE (slow, rude, etc). Prices are ridiculously HIGH.  Food is NOTHING special and is simply overpriced Fazoli's.

This is so sad because the original Amici's was upbeat, friendly, affordable and the food was great.  Please will the original owner come back!  You had a great thing going and I loved your establishment.

Wife and I decided to eat lunch somewhere before hitting a movie Saturday afternoon while the boy was at King's Island.  We would usually go to 2nd Street Market in this instance, but figured we can always go there because there's no chance of it closing in the near future.  Amici's on the other hand is located in a place where good restaurants just don't make it.  La Pergola was a very romantic Italian restaurant that didn't make it.  Then it was Barbie's Bistro...gone!  Then it was Millie's cheesesteaks for like a week...gone!  See, the problem is that these restaurants are located in a non-descript building BEHIND Sherwood Florist on Dorothy Lane.  If you don't know where it is or haven't heard about it from someone, you ain't a-gonna find it, capice?  Luckily, someone told us about Amici's and a tip o' the hat to them, whoever they were.

Best thing about Amici's is they claim to make every attempt to buy from local all-natural, organic farmers.  We being the tree huggers we are were intrigued by this claim.  We also are always wanting local restaurants to thrive and grow, so this was our chance to support a place where past establishments didn't have too much luck.  So should I actually start reviewing the food now?

OK, OK, OK.  Amici's serves breakfast, pizzas, sandwiches and salads.  they also have an appetizer menu that starts at 4:00 p.m.  They serve drinks but don't have beer yet.  I am hoping they bring in some nice microbrews ala South Park Tavern, Trolley Stop, etc.  My wife ordered a Pink Flamingo, which was a grapefruit cocktail, but I forget what alcohol was in it.  Tequila?  I had to sneak a sip before she gave me a look of utter disgust for taking a drink of her drink.  Anyway, I had the limoncello with Buckeye Vodka...OH YEAH!  Her's had the Buckeye vodka in it, too.  Limoncello had Buckeye vodka, lemonade, Lemoncello and soda water maybe.  Very good drink.  Just the right strength and refreshing on a 90-degree day.  Laura ordered a Neptune pizza, which has crab, roasted garlic and Gruyere.  I got a piece of that and must say it is one of the, if not the best, seafood pizzas I have ever had.  Blows away Sidebar's seafood pizza, as well as South Park's, and you know how much I love those places.  I got the Pesto pizza, which came with chicken, tomatoes, red onion and duh...pesto!  Excellent!  Perfect chicken and the tomatoes were like these huge, ripe beefeaters that would almost cover half the slice.  Very enjoyable.

Now I gotta tell you about the best part.  THE CRUST!  Oh man, this crust is incredible.  Thin and crispy with big bubbles.  I love the bubbles.  So freaking good!  I got a side of pesto to dip the ends in.  Unbelievable!  One of the best crusts I have ever eaten.  It's really freaking good this crust.

Since we were having a light lunch, we didn't get salads, and they weren't serving apps yet, so all I can tell you about are the pizzas and drinks.  They also have a Mai Tai Monday night after 8:00 p.m. and a Bloody Mary Saturday (perfect for early morning pre-golf meetups), so we will be going back to Amici's very soon with more peeps from the hood.  Oh yeah, and the deck provides a very cool, hipster, laid back vibe with Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, etc. pumping through the speakers.  You might even see cute little dogs about.  Price is very reasonable. I'd say about 2 $$'s.  Food and vibe is so close to 5 stars that I have to just give it a 5-star rating.  Wife says it is automatically in her Top 5 rotation, so if the wife is happy...

We came here in a large group looking for some pizza that would please everyone. Between one meat pizza, one vegetarian, and one vegan pizza we had everyone covered. The pizza came quick, was fresh, the multi-grain crust some of the best I've ever had. And daiya! Excellent find.

Great pizza! Actually the best in the area in my opinion. Wish they had beer. Place is small and no AC. Deck is nice and only good outside eating in Kettering. Guys managing/owners are really nice.

This summer my daughter and I went.   We ordered lemoncellos to drink...awesome, and she orgered vegan pizza and I the pesto chicken.  We waited forever and the owner (?) bought us a complimentary order of the artichoke and crab. It was wonderful, and we had not inquired as to why it was taking so long because the place was packed.  When the pizzas arrived, they were excellent.  Had we had another engagemen aftert, we would have been late though, so may not want to visit when you have time contstraining plans after.

My daughter went back on a Saturday morning for breakfast and got the vegan version of eggs benedict.  She said they were good; however, they never did bring her potatos.  When she paid with cash, they had no change and they scrounged and told her they were sorry but they were short a dollar on what they owed her.   Very strange for a business.  So my daughter counted that shorted dollar as part of her tip.

Tonight we ordered pizzas to go as it was raining.  We called the order in ahead and the waitress seemed to have a great deal of trouble comprehending our order.  She may have been new-giving  her the benefit of a doubt.  Pizzas were ready when we got there, and we both paid separately, my bill being $11 and my daughter's $13 something.  We both paid with $20's.  Guess what???  They told us they had no change.   So we stood there for 10 minutes while they scrounged for change again.  Our pizzas were on the counter getting cold while they tried to come up with the change.  I understand people not wanting to keep excess money because of robberies,  but this seems to be a habit since it happened to my daughter twice and myself once.  But, other than being a bit on the cold side (and we could have heated up when we got home) the pizzas were excellent again.   Seems they have a few things to get straight and I hope they make it without annoying people in the meantime.

Still I recommend the place because their pizzas are excellent.
