Review from Luba P.
I have only ordered for delivery so I can not speak on the service or the restaurant itself but the pizza tastes great!!! Its not the best in the city (You'd have to go to Tony's for that) but it sure beats chain pizza places like Dominos or even Extreme Pizza.
The ingredients taste fresh and everything I've ever ordered was delivered quickly and was still hot. Very friendly person taking phone orders but unfortunately they don't give too many discounts (even tho we ordered over $250 worth of food and are a local business).
I'd say try it if you're in the neighborhood but keep looking if you want something special. -

as much as i want to like amicis (they are, after all, sponsors of check please), i am persistently underwhelmed by their food (it is okay) and overwhelmed by their prices (one time take out for two, with tax and tip, came in at something around $70...granted we ordered salad, gnocchi and dessert to accompany our shared pie, but this seems steep)...
good for a slice on the street on the way to the ballpark, but otherwise, just keep on walkin... -

Really great thin crust pizza. I enjoy the pepperoni, it curls up around the edges and gets browned : )

Ordered delivery from here and the pizza looked like it was a day old, reheated. Needless to say it tasted like crap.

Here's the deal. Amici's pizza is decent. Not great compared to other options in the city but convenient for delivery in Russian Hill/Marina. However, there in lies their greatest problem. Every single time I have ordered pizza for delivery here... Which is at least 4 times in the last few months... They have double charged my card. So inevitably you order and check your account and will have a couple $30+ plus charges (yes they're expensive too) sitting there. I get pre-authorizing and waiting for the tip to put through... But once man, not twice! Amici's why is it you do this every single time? It's certainly not going to financially cripple me to have another $30 or so temporarily taken out of my account but seriously why do you think it is even remotely acceptable to f#%£ with my money?
Tell you what, I will give you one more try if you respond to this review. If not let's do the math... I stop ordering from you ($60 a month * 12 months = $720 a year) + everyone I tell not to go there is (conservatively) 20 people which we will say = a spend of $300 a month * 12 months = $3600... So we are at roughly $4320 just from word of mouth from me. Not to mention who that 20 people will tell and this review. Pretty quickly you are going to lose some serious revenue. I am sure you know that it takes 10x the cash and effort to get a new customer over keeping an existing one. So again, I will give you one more shot. Respond to this review and explain why every time I order delivery from you, you feel it acceptable to reserve twice the amount of the cost on my card.
Balls in your court. Hope to hear from you and update my review. -

So in LOVE with this pizza!!!!
Blows the hyped up pizza joints in North Beach away. Love their thin crust pizza. Guilt free!!! I regularly order the spinach salad and Asante. Always consistently fantastic. Delivered in under 30 mins. -

I'm usually not big on chains, but I've never been disappointed by Amicis in my many times there. We used to go a lot after my firm's softball games, and we've tried so many of the different topping combinations and I've liked them all. I'd recommend the Philly pizza (with sausage and onions) and the Spicy Pepper Chicken, as well as the new Milano pizza (with potato and bacon, among over toppings).
My friends and I recently had a "Pizza Potluck" where everyone brought pizza from some bay area place, and we all met up and tried them all. To the surprise of most, Amici's Milano was tied for the most votes for best pizza (along with fancier pizzas from Little Star and Pizzaiolo).
There are a lot of locations, so if you're in the mood for pizza, don't be afraid to try Amici's! -

We placed an order for delivery... which was very quick (30mins). The thin crust pizza (pepperoni and sausage) is pretty good...not great, but wasn't bad. I would order it again if I was nearby and really wanted a pie, otherwise I'd go somewhere else.
We also ordered the linguini with white clam sauce...one word...bland. It lacked any kind of flavor and was disappointing.
Overall wasn't bad and I would eventually give them another try. -

Gluten free pizza - WAAAAY over priced. WAAAAY skimpy on the sauce, the cheese, and the toppings. I had three toppings on my pizza and it cost me almost $28. They called it a 12" and you have no choice on what size you can order with the gluten free pizzas. I was told that a gluten free cheese pizza would cost $21. When I picked up this pizza the box was so light I couldn't believe there was anything in it! The crust is paper thin. What a total rip off.
Do yourself a favor - if you are gluten free - make your own pizza! I do it all the time for cheaper, and much better quality! -

Recently moved from the east coast and have been searching for a good pizza since... have tried many places, and i finally found a suitable pizza.
The crust is thin and floppy, they are generous with the cheese, and just the right amount of grease.
If you're looking for a good east-coast / New york style pizza, definitely give this place a try, i haven't even finished eating and i needed to rate. -

Gluten Free Pizza Review:
For those of you are are on a gluten free diet... this is a decent pizza place.. but for several reasons.. only 3 stars...
1. Price... $30.00 for a 12 inch gluten free pizza... unreasonable!
2. I love PIZZA... and i love lots of toppings! I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza with red onion... the toppings were so sparse it mainly tasted like a cheesy gluten free english muffin...
3, the crust is thin... which can be a plus or minus depending on your expectations... for me it was okay...
Overall, the stars are coming from the fact they even offer an option, however, it wasn't outstanding, but somewhat enjoyable.
It was nice to get to enjoy pizza among friends, and not have to bring something from home, or order a salad... -

I like that every time I've been here, it's never as crowded as the one in soma. I also like the gluten-free option. I also like the vibe in here. That's really about it. It's kind of overrated. The pizza isn't too bad but out of all the places there are to get a pizza, this is definitely not at the top of my list.

This is the best Pizza I've had in a long time. Easily the best pizza in the bay area. Way better than the by-the-slice, in-and-out style pizza places that seem to get high ratings here on yelp.
As far as the price goes...I feel fine with paying for quality.
The best part? They deliver. -

Thank you for having such great gluten free pizza. They even have a gluten free beer (not bad). AMAZING.
It's a little expensive for the gluten free, thus only 4 stars. -

Amici's is reliable - it delivers decent although not amazing pizza. I had the veggie which delivered the killer punch in caramelised onions - dead rat would taste better if dressed in these babies. Fortunately, Amici's does much better than dead rat and filled a happy belly full of good pizza and cheesecake.

Tasted like cardboard and very expensive. Paid $50 + tip for a pizza and Cesar salad and both were bland. Will never order from this place again!

Great thin crust pizza with lots of toppings to select from. I'm always a little put-off by the price verses the size, but that's just living in the "City", i.e the pizza isn't cheap. Definitely a great dine-in place. I would recommend it over other places, especially if you like your crust thin.

Nasty pizza. Way overpriced. Crust was limp and rubbery. The mushrooms seemed straight out if a can. And the whole thing cost me $30.

San Francisco, CA
This is a good, solid pizza. The price is a little high considering it is a thin crust and takes more to fill up but I guess the location in a prime tourist area on a busy street is what justifies the prices. I am sure there are much better pizzas for much better prices elsewhere in the city on some side streets.
The crust was very thin, crisp on the bottom, and had a fine flavor. Cooked just right. A minute or two longer and I'd call it overdone. The rest of the ingredients were just fine. Not much cheese but there isn't supposed to be on this kind of pizza. The slice held up well, it wasn't limp.
Service was... well I was here to eat let's just leave it at that. -

Gluten Free Pizza Review... undercooked crust....soggy blah.
I wasn't impressed to say the least. Even looking at the topping options I wasn't excited about it.
I ate in, and was able to have a gluten free beer with my order. I thought it was pretty overpriced considering all the options out there. -
Review from Amy B.
I have been in CA for about 9 years and have yet to find decent pizza. Amici's (and Giorgio's on Clement and Victoria's on Balboa) is the closest I have had to good, true East coast pizza.
So why only 3 stars, you ask? Well, first, they're super expensive!! Seriously. Thirty bucks for a pizza?? Come on. And although they'll usually reluctantly deliver to me being 3 blocks outside of the delivery zone, it's always a crap shoot and sometimes it's under the condition that I spend more money.
So, yes, pizza is good and almost authentic. But prices are just too high to justify it. -

Since it has been at least 10 years eating at an Amici's location, I decided to take my friends here after a fun yet exhausting day in San Francisco. This is, however the first time I am reviewing the location on Lombard St. From what I can remember, this was previously the location for Uno Pizzeria so its nice for the owners of Amici's to buy this location which is in the heart of the upscale Marina District.
I arrive here on a Saturday night around 9pm with my 3 friends and we are starving beyond belief. We were seated quickly and for drinks, I choose on ordering only an iced-water w/lemon. I immediately know what I want as a friend of mine and I order 1/2 pineapple & Candian bacon.. and the other 1/2 is the Amici's combo (which consisted of pepperoni, meatballs, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, and black olives). My other two friends order the four-cheese lasagna and spaghetti w/extra marinara sauce, respectively.
About 20 minutes later, our food finally arrives. Everything is piping hot and after the first bite of this pizza, I was welcomed with a nice crispy thin crust as well as a mild spice to the tomato sauce. I don't know how this place does it but the dough they use must be imported from the East Coast because this is truly like a New York-styled pizza. Both the pineapple/Canadian bacon as well as the Amici's combo tasted great as it satisfied my hungry appetite. I did try a bite of my friends' four-cheese lasagna as well as the spaghetti but both were just okay to me. I think the reason is the spaghetti had to much of a watery taste to it. But the pizza definitely made up for it as it is one of the better pizza establishments in the Bay Area.
The only reason why I had to bump this place down to 4 stars is because of the price. For a medium pizza, it was $22.65 (which in my opinion is relatively expensive for the portions that you get). Another is that for this price you're paying, you would think they would at least give you a side of salad, breadsticks, etc. But I guess that's what you have to pay especially since the Bay Area in general has a higher markup on most of their restaurants.
Overall, it was a good experience and I'll definitely come back here again in the near future. -

I Felt The Commercials Were A Gross Misrepresentation!!! I Would Go So Far As To Say False Advertising.
I Made A Special Trip To This Establishment, Paid TWICE What I Would Elsewhere While The food Was Mediocre & Completely Not Worth Going Out Of My Way To Be A Patron.
It Turned Out My Date Knew The Manager Way Back When, So He Asked What We Should Try. In The Most Professional Manner You Could Imagine This Man Suggested The Pasta Dishes, The Appetizer's, He Said The Salads Were Good . . . . . He Was SO Sweet!!!!
He Tried His Absolute Best To Stay True To His Position & Back The Place Of Business But Also Steer Us Clear Of The Pizza. I Was Impressed With His Demeanor :o)
But I Went There For the Pizza So We Gave It A shot.
It Was Mush. The Toppings Were Mushy, The Crust Was Mushy, The Flavor Was Boring. My Salad Had Cheese From The Tub You Buy At Costco. . . . . Like Fine Buy Cheese From Costco But AT LEAST Buy The Block And Shave A Piece Of Cheese!!!!! I Couldnt Believe It. We Made A Special Trip For THIS?!!?
My Date Was Down Because I Was Really Unhappy & He Had To Maneuver This Awkward Situation Between His Long Lost Pal And My Disgust l.o.l
I Just Want To Say That Im Lucky Enough To Live In A Part Of The Country That Has Outrageous Opportunities For Food Consumption.
I Make It A Point NOT To Visit Chain Restaurants Because Im Usually Happier At Mom n Pop Shops, Secret Hole's In The wall, Independents, Etc.
I Went Against My Better Judgement Based On The Commercials And Was Sadly Disappointed.
I Sincerely Hope You Try Lil Star Pizza, Waterfront Pizza, Sh*t Piccolo Pizza In The Tenderloin Puts This Place To Shame!! SHAME!!!!

Chose this place cuz it was in walking distance of our hotel and we needed something quick. The only reason I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because they had our pizzas ready in 10 minutes. Crazy fast.
But the rest was a disappointment. The crust was super thin and overdone, so it was really tough to eat. The combo pizza had really sparse toppings. $45 for 2 mediums? Way too expensive for what we got. -
Review from Terry C.
The pizzas were 3 stars. But the spinach salad i had was 5 stars; it was amazing. Spinach salad with roasted red peppers, red onion, tomato, bacon, feta, topped with toasted Pine Nut, served with a lemon basil vinaigrette. It was so good. I normally don't finish my salads because i want to save room for my entree. But instead, i stopped eating my pizza to finish the salad.
I ordered the spicy pepper chicken pizza and my friend got the Milano. The Milano was good as it had potatoes on it! The spicy pepper chicken pizza was a little dry. I know the menu said no tomato sauce...but i didn't know that meant no sauce at all. I also prefer my pizzas to be thicker so Amici's was just A-OK.
I would like to try their pasta dishes next time. -

This place is ridiculously expensive for a chain restaurant pizza place....
My two friends and I came here on Wednesday. We ordered a large chicken caesar salad; it was $16.75 and it was not even that big.. It says it's supposed to serve 3-4 people, but it looks like someone could eat it by their self and still not be full. We then got a Large Amici's Combo, and it was extremely salty. -_-
Um, the service was good.... and so was the salad... So two stars for Amici's! -

Yummy pizzas. Thin chewy crispy crust. Great menu variety. Used to order these all the time for delivery when I was on Russian Hill. A little greasy, but that's usually OK when you're looking for a pizza.

Long story short:
For every plate we ate I can say the same thing: Expensive, over priced food. They all tasted much saltier than it should've been.
They're known for their "amazing pizza"? I think I can go to safeways and pick up one of those freezer pizzas you put in your oven and it would taste better. Amici's pizza was very thin, and again, over priced.

Every so often I remember how delicious your Cheezly vegan pizza was and it makes me sad.
It's funny that several pizza places in SF now carry daiya. Amici's is now one in a crowd instead of one of a kind. So disappointing. And disgusting. Seriously, gross.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Some people say I fall into the category of pizza snob because I usually go for "fancy" pizza (e.g.: delfina, zero zero, starbelly, etc.) Ok, so I do love those places. But hand me a Mama's Celeste frozen pizza and I'll just as gladly happily devour it. (Gotta love those microwave "individual" pizzas). So, Amici's delivery. I think I was expecting domino's type pizza (which I will eat, though it is low on my pizza totempole). So, Amicis--I was pleasantly surprised that this was actually thin crust, delicious and not dominos-y. We ordered a heavily meat-oriented pizza, which was hearty and completely satisfying. No complaints here. For a delivery chain, it's decent and I'd order again. The pizza was delivered FAST. it was a tad expensive, but pizza in the city seems to be that way.
Afterthought: one small complaint. Wish they had included some chili flakes and parm w/the pizza!Listed in: Pizza Pizza!

after long drive to francisco, i came here for some francisco dinner. the gentleman promply seated us at the table. everything went so well.. until i got my order. my meat lover's pizza was burned, and it was hard as rock. also a lack of vegi made the pizza salty. our waitress was no where to be seen. not once our waitress refilled my drink. i left w/ 5% tip. take that!

**3.5 STARS**
Friends and I were all starving after being filled with chocolates... we were all shaking... so we needed to eat ASAP and one person suggested this and on we went...
We got here at 3 pm so it was dead.
We got seated right away - and we ordered right away too... We decided to have family style a.k.a. share!
- Margherita (medium) = didn't eat any of but the other 3 did and they all liked it.
- Calabria (medium) Mozzarella, Provolone, Pancetta (Italian Bacon), and Tomatoes = it was good but it was really really really salty! The pancetta (I'm assuming) was loaded with salt and it carried throughout the pizza.
- Chilled Broccoli (With Extra-Virgin Olive Oil and Fresh Lemon Juice) loved this! This has become my favorite appetizer!
Overall... friendly folks and fast service... just didn't jive well with the pizzas. Total for all 4 was $74... pricey but we were all starving.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Pizza from anywhere else just is not the same.
The mini amici's combo hits the spot every time. I've tried a few others, which are all great as well.
The service is consistently great. Sure, it's a little pricey here, but for me, it's worth it. -

It's great that there is a gluten-free pizza in San Francisco. It's not substantial in any way but you don't go away feeling hungry.
Amici's seems to be at odds with its community in San Francisco and has chosen to punish its customers for voting to require that they provide healthcare to their employees. They do this by adding a surcharge on top of an already pricey pizza.
From their website:
"SF Benefits Offset Charge: Recent decisions made by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors have created an economic burden for small businesses. To help offset mandatory operational expenses such as "Healthy San Francisco" medical care, paid sick leave and a higher minimum wage, we are adding a 4.85% charge to each guest check." -

I have been here probably a dozen times for the GF pizza over the last couple of years, so I figured it was time to write a review. First of all, I am really appreciative of the fact that they added GF pizza to their menu, giving those of us who eat GF a chance to go out for pizza. They use the Still Riding GF crust and have separate areas for preparing the GF pizzas, so I have never gotten sick eating here. The crust is pretty thin, and the first few visits it was cooked to a nice and crisp texture. They offer a wide variety of toppings, most of which are gluten-free, as well as GF beer. Overall, the staff have been pretty knowledgable and accommodating. The manager even once offered that they could deliver GF pizza out of their normal delivery area if we placed a large enough order.
The first few times I went there, it seemed like a 5-star kind of experience. However, the last few times we went in, the pizza has come out undercooked and often with soggy crust. I have found that GF pizza in general is better when it is eaten while it is hot and crispy. On my last visit the pizza was literally cold and uncooked in the center and we had to send it back for extra cooking. I am not really sure what changed. But given their steep prices (bills over $40 for one GF pizza with a few toppings and 2 non-alcoholic beverages), it has made me not as eager to return. -

I'm not sure why other yelpers didn't like the gluten free crust....because considering how long it had been since I had eaten pizza...that crust tasted damn good to me!
Yes, it was pricey for a pizza...but it's gluten free...the ingredients are pricey.
I thought the flavors were great - the peperoni was just perfect, nice and crispy, flavorful and fully of yummyness.
I would definitely recommend the gluten free pizza to others out there!! -

I love me some Amici's! The pizza is the bomb ... but even more so, I love the pasta! Their penne with meat sauce and their lasnagna is so good. Just like mama used to make!
You can tell they use great ingredients and their produce for their salads and pizza is super fresh.
