Amici's Pizza is my favorite pizza next to Pizza My Heart. I love the Amici's combo with fresh garlic. The right thinness with all the right ingredients, its an absolute dream right out of the oven. Have it with a Caesar salad with fresh anchovies and it's like Heaven on Earth. I've been to a number of Amici's locations and they are all consistently awesome. The pesto clam linguine is also delicious.

Decent. We never dine in. Only have them deliver which they do promptly. You wont be disappointed and it is thin crust. Though it won't excite you either ;) better places around but they don't deliver.
Biggest complaint is its too salty. -

Ordered from Waiter(dotcom) last Friday for this Amici location for: a medium margarita with roasted garlic, a spinach salad, an order of gnocchi with pesto sauce and (in two places wrote) a request for 4 containers of parmesan cheese.
The pizza didn't have the roasted garlic, the parmesan cheese was forgotten and for $7.95, we received 18 bites/pieces of gnocchi. In calling them to tell them what a rip-off it was to receive 18 pieces of gnocchi for $8 bucks (that's $.50/bite), I was told that an order usually comes with 16 pieces. Holly s-balls!!! I make gnocchi and know that the actual food cost for this volume is less than $.75 total (it being just a baked potato mixed with flour and two tablespoons of pesto sauce), so how they get off charging $8 is beyond me.
I called to complain to the manager and he said he'd have the General Manager call me to discuss. It's been 3 days and I never heard from the GM. We'll NEVER place another order from this place in the future. They TRULY RIP PEOPLE OFF!!! -

This is the second time I've ordered online and been disappointed not only by the pizza but the lack of customer service.
The first order was wrong. I ordered 1/2 pepperoni and half olives & pepperoni. What I got was 1/2 olives instead of pepperoni. They also sent along 1 container of parmesan cheese (I requested 4), 3 containers of red pepper and 1 container of ranch dressing. The latter two of which I noted in multiple areas I did NOT want.
The second order the pizza was correct. However I received NO parmesan cheese (requested 4 again) and only that damned tub of ranch dressing.
The pizza is incredibly bland and greasy. The garlic breadsticks are better than the pizza and the only reason I gave them a second chance.
Like one of the reviewers below I was told I'd be given a call back and have yet to receive one.
Never again. -

Good thin crust pizza, not the best, but solid! My favorite is the roasted garlic thin crust pizza!

I'm still not sure why everyone in Redwood Shores seems to FLOCK here at any given hour, but... it's growing on me.
We don't really think their pizza is anything to wait for, but it has served us well the few times we've been in.
Dining in has excellent service. All the staff is very friendly and jovial. Take out is prompt and even ahs it's own parking and side door for convenience.
The menu is ... well Amici's! I'm still trying to find that "go to" menu item that I can always count on. People dig it. So if you're wondering whether or not you should try it out?
DO IT! and then let me know what YOU think? Any dish I should try? -

Mmm I love pizza, pasta, and salad but there are only three things I enjoy eating at Amici's. Those three things are their antipasto salad w/ Italian dressing, clam pizza, and the pesto pizza. This place is also really convenient because it's close to my house and it's close to the gym (literally a 2 minute walk away from PAC).
Their antipasto salad is nice and fresh. It also contains lots of ingredients. I like my salads embodied with lots of different flavors. The more color the better! Amici's antipasto salad is packed with salami, onions, olives, bell peppers, tomatoes, and shredded mozzarella cheese.
Their pizzas aren't as great. The bottom of my pizza is always black and burnt. It's hard to get that burnt taste out of my mouth (the weird thing is I normally enjoy burnt food but not burnt pizza dough). Anyways if you must get pizza here get the clam pizza and/or the pesto pizza. The flavors will lessen the burnt flavor but won't get rid of it completely.
Basically not the best pizza out there but pretty good salads. -

Best Pizza hands down! I love the thin crust and the amazing fresh flavors! I'm quite addicted to this place!

Amici's is the closest pizza place in my hood, so of course I'm gonna try it!
Sadly, it will be the one and only time.
It's a nice place; lots of seating with a nice staff. But the pizza was just so-so.
We ordered a large Margherita pizza to share. Normally on a Margherita pizza I'm used to large slices of tomato and mozzarella. This was really saucy, with diced tomatoes and the regular mozzarella shredded on top. Not authentic, especially if you're calling yourself an "east coast pizzeria." The only redeeming factor was the crust, which I really liked.
The Artichoke Panzanella Salad was decent, although a little oily. The small size was quite large enough to feed us three.
I'm glad that I got to try Amici's, if only for the fact that I don't have to wonder about it anymore. Been there...done that...got the mediocre pizza. -
Review from Pat G.

Out of all the pizza parlors in all the world, I had to choose this one. Ordered a large with slow roasted garlic, meatballs and mushrooms.
For over $25 I got:
A large pizza that had the heft of a small pizza.
About a dozen slices of some weird cured beef, some round, some just pieces, all FLAT.
Miniscule mushrooms that looked like they came out of a can.
Plenty of grease.
Garlic also not uniformly cut, not really roasted.
Way over-cooked, inedibly dry black crust from a dirty pizza oven.
To say that frozen would have been better is an understatement. -
Review from Carina M.
So a bulk of my friends kept telling me I had to come here and have their pizza. I should've known better...
$20 for a large thin crust pizza...with 2 toppings. I didn't want pizza so I got a 'large' spaghetti with meatballs. It was ok, but not worth the $16 I forked out for it.
Service was a little slow and forgetful, but the girls were so friendly it made up for it.
It's really a 2.5 star place, but I rounded up because of the service. -

The take-out service is fast (call their direct line). My favorites are Manhattan Red Clam pizza, lasagna, and spaghetti. Soup is good too.

Being new to the area, I was stoked when I found out that RWS has an Amici's. This is my favorite pizza place :)
We always order the following and are never disappointed:
Siciliano Pizza with Red Sauce added
Cesar Salad (it's the BEST Cesar Salad I've ever had in my life)
Meat Lasagna (just to change it up sometimes)
YUM. -
Review from James L.
Had my first taste of Amici's pizza recently and I have to say that I'm definitely a fan! I should have tried it out sooner!
I love the thinness of the crust (as well as its "pull" and pleasing chew that tells you that the gluten in the crust has developed nicely), the complimentary fresh garlic, and the complimentary vegan cheese! (One reviewer says the vegan cheese has a milk product in it, but the brand they use does not contain casein or any other milk derivatives, so I don't know what that's about.)
It's hard for me to frequent pizza joints these days since I can't really do dairy anymore so I really appreciate that the pizzas here are not only right-on when it comes to the crust, crust-topping ratio, and overall quality but also friendly to vegans and the lactose intolerant. Gotta love the gluten-free option as well. The prices are the only downside, and they're the reason why I didn't give five stars.
But thanks, Amici's! I love popping an Amy's Kitchen frozen pizza in my toaster oven but it's nice to have an actual pizza place nearby that offers something I can actually have.Listed in: FOOOOOD! (on the Peninsula!)

Review from Chi N.
I usually take my clients here since I am just up the block. The pizzas are made in the traditional Italian way of baking the pie in a brick oven. The result is a nice crispy crust. I like how you can add garlic to your pizza, although you should remember to carry extra mints or even a toothbrush to wash out the stink from your breath after.
My favorite dish to order here is the Linguini & Clams (clear sauce). There's just something about the flavoring they put into the sauce, that makes this dish stand out from the rest.
It's also nice that they have wine and beer for happy hour. -

I want top give this place a 3.5 stars.
In any case, I loved the plenty of parking, and the food is always good. Service is always very decent. Yes, it's a little pricey so we don't dine there all the time, but food is hearty and always good.
If it was slightly less in cost, I would give it a 4 star, but having said that, I know I will go back. -

AWESOMENESS! First off, the service was excellent. The server was very nice, patient, helpful with suggestions and was always smiling. She even checked back with us a few times. Her name was Flavia, I think. Thank you, Flavia, for such awesome service.
I ordered the mini 10" clam with red sauce and garlic pizza and WOOOOOOWZERS that was pretty damn amazing. Each bite was so foodgasmic, that when I was in conversation with my friend, I'd get lost. The pizza had me in this trance...I totally would recommend it and its only 400 calories!!! I can't wait to go back and take the hubs!!! I ALSO want to try their pastas! -

A lot has been said here about Amici's, so I won't go on and on.
We ate here for dinner last week, it was our second time here. We ordered a pepperoni & sausage pizza, and the penne with meat sauce. We shared both, and the portions were just right.
Service was wonderful!!! Very friendly, nice girl. It is a bit pricey, and the pizza is the thin, thin style. I actually like a bit more sauce on my pizza. But the crust is delicious.
The pasta was yummy. Again, nothing mind blowing, but tasty and cooked properly. It tasted fresh.
Yummy! -

Overpriced, underwhelming. The pizzas are very small and thin - tasty, but not worth 20 bucks for 2-3 standard toppings. Not even close to "east coast style," but it caters to the industrial park lunch crowd so they get by.
Would not buy again. -

I always hear a lot of complaints about their pizza, but I love it. It's a nice thin crust brick oven pizza that tastes great.
The non-pizza is wonderful as well. If you order a salad, they use only the fresh green leaves and never use any wilted or brown vegetables. The sandwiches taste great and the pasta is OK.
It's not the cheapest place, but it's good. -

When you are sitting in a room full of an evil group of axe murderers you probably only have one thing on your mind.
What to eat for your last meal?
This was the case over the weekend, as I sat counting down my final living minutes I decided on pizza. I made sure that the ax murderers would have no say in the matter and ordered two large pizzas to be delivered.
Amicis is not the best pizza in the universe, in fact it probably isn't even the best pizza in the Bay Area. But they are excellent in other ways, like delivering a quality pie in less than the promised time and never making a mistake with your order and NEVER forgetting to bring a long sides of peppers and Parmesan cheese.
If you order take out they are just as efficient and my order is always ready even before I arrive. The counter staff always opens the pizza box and let you inspect your pizza and makes sure it's prepared how you want it.
My tip of the day, on your next order, request "Light Crust" trust me on this.Listed in: Pizza Protest Strike

Good pizza, you need to eat it hot! And while they deliver, it still comes in a little soggy, so pick it up and you know Steve D. got it right, I too will leave my home, heat up a pizza stone and when I bring it back I toss it on there to toast it back up... My personal favorites are the Manhatten, white clams & garlic & sausage with jalapenos... The pizza is thin and crispy, it can be a bit on the oily side, I don't mind it, if you do just use a napkin and blotch it off. Thier pastas are ok.... I usually just do the pizza and the ceasar salad, which has a freakin awesome dressing which is great to dip some rolls or your pizza crust into....
The delivery guys drive like idiots, especially out of the back alley behind the shop, no joke, they seem to think rather then delivering pizza they are transporting organs or something. I usually use their back door because it is close to the big parking garage, when street parking is full... -

Total tab of $49 (including tip) for:
two mini cheese pizzas
two apples juices (can you tell i had the kids with me?)
one plate of chilled brocolli
one small chicken caesar.
What is wrong with this picture?!? Doesn't fifty bucks seems excessive for a party of three (two are under 5)?!?! It really irritates me when I order a kid's meal for $7.75 a piece and it doesn't come with a drink. Go ahead, call me cheap.
I need to outsmart the menu and learn how to order better.
The pizza's decent here, but I like Toto's Pizzaria in Belmont better. -
Review from Jeff R.
Erica and I went to Amici's to meet with our long time favorite Colombian friend Camilo Garcia. It was a simple, cheap and fast meal that worked for everyone, especially Camilo since it is across the street from EA.
We ordered a large pizza to share for three, which was a perfect size and quantity. Our taste buds were undecided so we split the pizza half vegetarian and half pollo. Both types were very good and reminded Erica of a local version of CPK. The crust had a nice buttery flavor and the cheese was not a low budget filler. I enjoy eating in California because in most cases ingredients come from local producers and are seasonally fresh. This can be experienced even at a pizza shop. Amici's is a chain so next time you're looking for 'za in CA, Amici's is a good choice. -

I have always liked Amici's and have ordered their delivery many times. The Mountain View location is also nice. We really like the thin crust and the toppings are always flavorful, the cheese bubbly and they have some of the most unique flavors of all the pizza places we've tried.
I like their combination, calabria, eggplant and the trentino is ok, although it tends to be soggy. I love their antipasto salad with mustard italian, who doesn't love cheese, salami and kalamata olives on their salad?? The parmesan cheese they serve with their pizza is fresh, not that jarred crap.
Delivery is always prompt, friendly and free. The only thing is that I think it is pretty pricey, but I can't compare the quality and taste to that of the less expensive chain pizza places so it is what it is. I'll continue to order Amici's in the future. -

My office loves going here. We either dine in or have it delivered. I usually order the spinach salad and have a few slices of vegetarian pizza with sausage.
Try it and I'm sure you will like it. It's best when it comes right of the oven, the pizza has a nice crunch. -
Review from Eva O.
Hands down--one of our favorite pizza restaurant! The pizzas are absolutely incredible. Each and every one. The crust is perfection and the toppings are divine! Aside from the pizzas, their other creations are also just as amazing. The Garden salad with mustard italian dressing.
It's GREAT. -
Review from Yum E.
Came by for lunch yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Despite being in a rather decrepit shopping plaza, the interior was quite modern.
Mini Philly Pizza w/ fresh garlic
- Thin crust pizza w/ plenty of toppings
- Flavorful and not too much MSG
Caesar Salad
- Fresh lettuce and generous portion of croutons
- Salad was not overwhelmed with salad dressing!
Service was professional and friendly. The interior of the restaurant was spotless and the waitress was prompt to remove our excess plates.
...I think I may have found a new lunch spot! :D -

In less than 12 minutes, our pizza was cooked and delivered to to our table and was ready to eat -- that alone deserves 4-stars :-)!
After a long day of shopping at IKEA in East Palo Alto, my friends and I stopped by Amici's in Redwood Shores. We were worried that there was going to be a long wait, but once we got inside, we were seated at a table right away. The waitress took our drink orders as we decided on what kind of pizza to get. Finally, we ordered a large Pepperoni/mushroom with extra mozzarella and fresh garlic. The pizza was hot and yummy, the cheese was tasty and stringy and the crust was perfect -- thin and crispy, the way I like it!
Make sure to sit away from the sunlight because even though they have shades on their windows, it does not work. One of my friends had the sun on his eyes the whole time we were there. I guess we could have asked to be moved, but we were so hungry that he didn't care anymore after the pizza arrived. -

A TALE OF TWO PIZZAS
Depending on what you are looking for in your pizzeria, Amici's isn't bad at all - except that I think there's a big difference between the quality of the dine-in pizza and delivery.
Amici's (the location in Redwood Shores) is in a very popular shopping area with easy access to the freeway. You've got several other restaurants in the same plaza in case you change your mind or if the wait it too long.
They've got beer and wine, and the ambience is more upscale than any of the pizza chains (but it has that distinct "shopping center" flavor to it).
As for the pizza, they have this brick oven that cooks their thin crust amazingly fast. I got my pizza so fast once that I thought they gave me someone else's order by mistake (of course, I ate it anyway)! But I was very disappointed by their delivery - the pizza turns into a sloppy mess during the ride to your house.
I think their salads are typical, but I haven't bothered trying anything else on their menu because the pizza is great.
Amici's isn't really a date place (unless you are married, live in Redwood Shores, and don't want to make the journey over the freeway). But it's great for lunches with friends.
PROS:
- Excellent pizza if you dine-in.
- Amazingly fast cook times - that brick oven is better than a microwave
- Great selection of ingredients
- Excellent thin crust
CONS:
- A little pricier than a typical pizza (but generally worth it)
- Not suited for delivery - the pizza doesn't keep well
- Ingredients are expensive and can add up quickly -

How about a piece of warmed flat bread with flavorless toppings? YEah, not too tasty.
I think this is a pizza place for health nuts and if you're that deprived of flavors, then this stuff must be ridiculously good.
Gimme some deep dish pizza any day!
If youre a health freak, who eats low salt, low fat food and stays away from carbs...this pizza will be delicious to you. However, cardboard with low fat Parmesan might taste really good to you to. =)
Okay, okay...if you like authentic Italian pizza - flat with hardly any cheese and limited toppings...this one's for you. I was just as disappointed when I had pizza in Florence, Italy. Flat, a teaspoon of sauce, no cheese and a piece of spinach. =( -
Review from Kevin W.
San Mateo, CA
Some people complain the crust is burnt. If you read their menu it says right on it:
We bake our pizzas in brick ovens, the way tradition-minded Italians have been baking pizzas for hundreds of years. Because our pies are baked directly on the super-hot brick floor, the crust comes out crisp and darker than the typical American pizza - often a bit black. If you are a crust lover, you will find our crust distinctively delicious.
Then under that it says:
If a darker crust is not to your liking, please specify "light crust", although the result may be undercooked for some tastes.
I don't see what the problem is.
This Amicis has some damn good pizza. Probably my second favorite place to come for a pie. It is a bit expensive, but well worth the price. -
Review from Deborah D.
Redwood City, CA
This is a very good pizza and other Italian restaurant chain and close to home. We love their brick oven, thin crust pizza, but think it's a bit too greasy if ordering one with any meat.
The salads are very fresh, large and tasty. Good bread. Atmosphere in the restaurant is nice- friendly, prompt and roomy. In the summer they open large windows for the evening breeze.
Take-out is timely and good. Just an all-around good pizza place in the neighborhood, but more expensive than most in the area. -

San Mateo, CA
The Amici's Combo is pretty good with pepperoni, sausage and a bunch of other stuff. The crust is really thin, which is different for me... the middle gets kinda soggy.
Anyway I don't recall too much because I had only 30 minutes for lunch before my tooth extraction so I was concentrating more on shoveling food down rather than admiring the finer aspects of the pizza pie.
+1 star for blazing fast service. I thought for sure I'd be eating my napkin for lunch, but the pizza came quite fast. -

If you are from the east coast, you will surely be disappointed. I think the prime benefit is that It's in a convenient location if you work in the Redwood Shores area, but it seems pretty crowded. I'm not a big fan of the food. To me, the pizza is bland and boring.

Review from Euge C.
Santa Monica, CA
I came here almost a decade ago, when it was new, popular and crowded. Lines.
There are no lines anymore.
But this is a good thing, because the food here is still so good. These guys are still executing for years beyond what should have been their peak. I have to applaud that dedication to excellence.
* The salad looks like a picture, it's so fresh and perfect.
* The Amici's combo pizza never disappoints. The other combinations are ok, but please choose this one.
* Get the breadsticks. This is typically menu filler at most pizza joints, but here, it's a revelation. -
Review from Katrina O.
Sunnyvale, CA
Three stars is for the food, which was delicious. (Caesar salad was great)
But: our original seat was near the front door so we got 1) cold breeze and 2) loud talking from people waiting to be seated.
On the whole, the entire restaurant was too loud for my taste. Good place to go if you don't want to talk to your date/company. (Which can be quite convenient!)
