Review from Brett B.
This is your typical Amici's. We generally eat here about once a week, and I have been happy with everything I have tried so far.
The pizza, pasta, soup, and salads are all good. And their service is usually very good. My drink is never empty! -

This review is restricted to Amici's gluten-free pizza.
Utter crap. This pizza would suck without a gluten-free crust. They skimp on everything and I don't know why. We were staying at the nearby Cypress hotel and we had to order some room service because this pizza sucked so bad. We gave the leftovers to some friends who were in a different room, and despite the fact one of them needed gluten-free, THEY left it behind to be thrown away by the cleaning staff.
If you want a real gluten-free pizza that's edible, you probably have to make your own. I'll never eat at Amici's again. -

I was craving pizza but have a gluten sensitivity. I had heard that Amici's had gluten free pizza. So my husband & I set off for Amici's in Cupertino.
We got there at about 730 on a saturday night. It is a pretty noisy restaurant. When I got the gluten free menu & discovered the gluten free pizza was 25 dollars, I wasn't very happy. But I have heard from a few friends that they had really good gluten free pizza, so I tried it. I was not impressed at all! The pizza was tiny, dry, had very little on it & NOT worth $25. My husband wasn't impressed with his pasta either.
We will definitely not be back. -

We tend to come here for group meals as our office is located in the same complex. The food is of course good here but they tend to overcook the pizza. The eggplant parmasian is a pleaser for sure.

I love their Asante pizza, especially because it has SOY CHEESE!!! I love that Amici's offers soy cheese at no extra charge for any of their pizzas. I like the Asante, but add red sauce (it doesn't come w/it) and roasted green and red peppers. YUM YUM! The only draw back is their price. But I'm willing to pay it every now and then to get my pizza fix.

It is Friday Night and we were all in the mood for Pizza so we walked down the steet to Amici's.
This was our first time here and we are glad we walked as parking is sparse.
Great ambience and we got a seat quickly. I ordered up a cheese pizza as it is lent.
The Pizza was ready in a short time and looked really good. It tasted just as good and i ate my whole pizza.(small)
I was pleased with what i got and maybe next time i will come in for a sausage pizza. -

GREAT VEGAN PIZZA! They use Daiya, which is super yummy for non-cow milk folks.
I've only ever used this place for home delivery, but they ALWAYS deliver a piping hot pie, seems straight out of the oven... and I'm not super close to them. It's always within the time frame they give me over the phone, which I greatly appreciate because I have toddlers.
Great customer service too! They have my order in a computer, so they can see what I've had, all my special requests, etc., so I can just say "give me the usual" rather than rattle off a complicated order.
Finally, one time they left off the sun dried tomatoes from my pizza, and when I called the next time to order I mentioned that I'd paid for them on my last order and wanted to make sure they were added this time... not only did they not charge me for my current order, the guy on the phone could see that I previously ordered a slice of their yummy tuxedo cake and offered me a FREE complimentary slice for the previous mistake, saying how sorry he was and that he'd personally check my pizza this time to ensure the sun dried tomatoes were added! Now that's what I call customer service! -
Review from Jaclyn L.
I love New York style pizza and I've been able to experience it here at Amici's Pizzeria! I love the haunting pie aroma, the crust and being able to fold the pizza in half and eating it this way. The restaurant looks really nice, I called in ahead of time for take out. Me and my fiance decided on the Amici's Combo pizza and we were able to watch it come out fresh through the brick oven as soon as we arrived. We walked into complete quietness on a Saturday afternoon.
We brought it back to Grandma's house and we all loved it! The cheese was melted into the light marinara sauce and all the meat/veggies were cooked to perfection. There's just something about pizzas being cooked in the brick ovens. It was insanely delicious! After it was gone, the boys were still hungry! I didn't purchase a second pizza though, the pizza was about $30 for just one large pizza and it wasn't enough! It seemed a bit on the small side and flat with thin crust but that's the way these kinds of pizzas are made. Too bad they don't have coupons like the other pizza joints LOL but then again, all these other pizza chains don't compare to Amici's Pizza.
It's a family favorite but it is on the expensive side. I'm sure I'll have a craving the next time I see this place so I'll be back! We love Amici's pizza pies! I'm hoping to go to New York one day and experience the pies there to see the comparison :) -

Pizza is expensive. It tasted meh. Also had the gnocchi as an appetizer (my first time), and that was a little better. I remember coming here a few years ago and thinking that the pizza was amazing. Like DELICIOUS. I'm not sure if my taste buds changed, or if the quality of the food became worse. Honestly though, I didn't feel like I got any bang for my buck. And trust me, there was a lot of "buck" involved.
I would recommend Cicero's Pizza if you want a mind-blowing thin-crust pizza experience! Or Pizza Hut if you want a large with unlimited toppings for just $10! Now I'm starting to sound like a commercial. Sorry Amici's! -

Decent thin crust pizza, great location.
This street has lot of great eateries competing but its still a decent spot for an Amici's. Their pizza variety is simply OK but the service staff is really nice and its a psuedo nice place to dine.
Margarita pizza has sun dried tomatoes on it which is a nice touch. Greek Pizza is super good too with the feta cheese. They don't have goat cheese so don't ask. -

My wife and I went here at 9pm on Valentine's Day. The front desk staff was on nearby table and was eating their dinner. We were seated by a waitress a moment later. The place from outside looked good. The inside has high ceilings and overall it looks good. But the table arrangement and quality of tables makes the whole experience mediocre.
Now lets order, I wanted to order penne with roasted veggie. The server told me that they are out of oven roasted veggie and as they are closing in 45 mins they are not making anymore!! People were still coming in but the staff was not in mood to serve and preparing as if it is closing time.
We ordered mini margarita pizza and small penne with pesto. Our food arrived very quickly. I must say, I never eat past in flat plastic plate. The first bite and it was undercooked and cold. I sent it back and overheard the argument between chef and server. The cook was very arrogant and when server said it is cold, he said "ya I know that"! Anyway next round it was okay. The pizza, claimed to be NY style, was stripped of cheese and soggy.
Enough said, this place is overpriced and no quality. I ate in-and-out burger later in the night :) -
Review from Steven N.
Pizza is pretty good but the price is over the top. A 10in pizza is $17. I was ables to finish it by myself no problem. I seems a bit excessive.
the pizza was good. All their pizza are thin crust. I had a garlic chicken pizza. -

Nothing like finishing up watching a movie at Vallco, by eating some pizza. It was a Sunday and they were pretty much empty, so my party and I were seated, served, billed pretty fast.
The pizza itself just tastes..........average. I've had better and I've had worse. Their margherita pizza was a little tangy, which was.......interesting.
Just FYI, some of their toppings are treated as two toppings when it comes to billing. One of our large pizzas (which by itself was $24.95) we requested to have artichoke on it, and when they charged us for two toppings we were..........confused.
Then once we re-looked at the menu, we realized why we were charged for two toppings.
3 stars.

Review from Anna V.
The pizza, pasta and food here is decent. The service is a little slow but not horrible. There isn't anything too special about this location other than the fact that it's in a very nice plaza. Not a bad place to drop by for a meal if you're in the area, but not really a place that will blow your mind out. 2.5 stars.

I ate a small Margherita for lunch. $14.95, a little expensive for the portion. The crust was excellent. It needs more mozzarella.
They don't have cappuccino or espresso. I ordered a cup of cappuccino to a waitress , not seeing the menu, and she kindly told me that there was a cafe within a few doors. I forgot that this is "East Coast Pizzeria", not an Italian pizzeria. -
Review from Ryan A.
This place just barely gets a 2 star. It had a three star through the consuming of the food. It's average, at best, pizza. The boyfriend had the nerve to tell me that it's "New York style, that's just how it is." Sorry, but New York style isn't burning the pizza. The toppings were average, as well. It was just a bad chain pizza experience. Maybe it wasn't 3 star at that point, it was probably 2.5 stars.
The experience dropped to 1.5 stars when the waiter was confused by splitting the bill between the four of us into two checks. We got two pizzas, two pops, one beer and an appetizer. One pizza and two pops on ours, the rest on the other two's check. Not hard, right? Apparently, it is. After coming back to ask again and then it taking another 5 minutes, he came back and informed us that they don't split the check and that next time, a waiter may not be nice enough to do this for us. It's horrible customer service to not split checks in half for a table, and even worse to do it then point out that you were putting your waiter out. The more I think about it, the more I want to write to their management . . . we'll see. I won't be back. -
Review from Carina M.
Done and done with Amici's. I came here Monday with friends.
I ordered a chicken caesar salad (small) and split a pesto pizza with hubby and a friend. Another friend ordered a gluten free pizza.
Chicken caesar salad was good - nice and tangy with that anchovy kick. LOVED IT.
Pizza we split? Not so much. I don't know what it is about pesto pizza and places not really being generous with cheese. The pesto flavor itself was ok, but not as strong as I normally prefer.
My friend's gluten free pizza was $25. $25 for a pizza that was not really much bigger than their medium size. I was floored...and summarily upset for her, too.
While I enjoyed the chicken caesar salad, the overall meal was a star experience. The salad and service boosted it up to 2 stars.
I think Amici's is really overpriced and overhyped. It's not the best, end all East Coast style pizza place.
Sorry, Amici's. Others may love you...I don't. -

I have come to this location 2 times within the last month. Both times my party of four has left unsatisfied. The problem with Amici's is not their quality but their quantity. Also the pizza is overpriced and not the greatest San Jose pizza either.

Review from Karen L.
I really like coming here for a nice lunch with the girls or dinner with the family. The whole place is chic and has a classy but casual feel to it. I'm also very partial to East Coast Pizza.
I've had a lot of good times here with my friends. Good food in a intimate, yet fun setting brings people together. :)
My favourites off the menu are the Pesto and Clams with Linguini, the breadsticks, and the spicy pepper chicken pizza. I've also tried "building" my own pie before and that turned out really good too. I'd recommend the thin crust.
The service is fast and the hosts are always friendly and upbeat.
For all these pros, I really don't mind the overall priciness of Amici's. -

Amici's (all locations) is hands-down the best pizza in the bay area. I was a little shocked to see 3,5 stars as the average rating for this place.
Yes it is more expensive than other pizza chains. If you can gag down the dreck the serve at Dominoes, Pizza Hut, Round Table or any of those places, by all means save your money and go there.
However, if you appreciate *real* NY style pizza--extra thin crust, well done (aka "burnt" a little on the down side) with high quality mozzarella, then you will happily pay the price at Amici's. -
Review from Kevin L.
The thin crust pizzas are alright - we usually get a 15" Manhattan Red Clam for four people and a side of ravioli and it's decent. However, on many occasions, the bottom of the pizza was burnt. Disappointing.
It's not cheap (like pizza hut) and doesn't taste like pizza from New York. Kind of expensive, but the decor and service is nice! -

Didn't know what to eat.. so came here.. (I'm not a HUGE pizza fan... but if I do eat pizza, I prefer thin crust)...
I LOVE the Gnocchi with Pesto... It didn't feel too creamy or heavy... I liked how it was fried and the pesto was YUM. This is one of the things I fill definitely order when I come back!
The pizza was good too... Toppings were generous enough and not too overwhelming...
The staff was very friendly. Had a nice little laugh on our way out. :) -

Loved the great customer service and attention but the quality of the "New York" pizzas needs much improvements to match the reality of an "East Coast" pizza.

Overpriced for mediocre pizza. It's totally "name brand" pizza.
Nonetheless, try their spicy chicken cilantro one, it's delicious :)
And don't ever eat their spaghetti, it's not worth paying for. -
Review from Sir T.

Succulent pizza with a price. There's a reason they aren't known for their pasta, though.
I shared a Medium Margherita pizza with 2 other friends. It cost us $19.95 and we each received 2 slices. Expensive? Yes. Good? Very. The thin-crust pizza has just the right balance in ingredients (so it's not some spaghetti-sauce-of-a-pizza or a flop of vegetables.) I especially liked the tart flavor the cheese gave, and this made the pizza all the more unique.
As we predicted just 2 slices wouldn't be filling, we ordered a pasta option: Oven Roasted Vegetables, Garlic, Parmesan, and Fresh Herbs. For a small, we received a fistful each for a total cost of $11.95. The pasta wasn't overcooked or undercooked, but it definitely tasted sub-par - like the kind Mom makes at home.
Ambience: I actually didn't step in too long; we opted to eat outside cause it was a nice and sunny evening. This was a good choice as we had our privacy and we could laugh loud without annoying the other diners; the only thing is, it took forever for the waiter to receive our order, bring the check, give our money back, etc.
I'm a fan and I will come back for the unique taste in the pizza. And when I come, they won't forget us sitting out in the back there.

Now don't judge my review because my friends and I are students and we don't want to splurge out on food for a night - granted, at the end of the meal, we did not feel FULL (like Santa-Claus-full), but we were content and didn't reenact Tomb Raiders with our fridges at home. -

Came here for dinner with the hubby last week. I had the margherita pizza and he had the garlic chicken.
Both were tasty, as was the garlic bread-sticks.
Service was fast and friendly. -
Review from Kim K.
My nieces rocked the mini cheese kid pies which are the same size as the "personal" pies adults get at baseball stadiums. But with much less crust and looking much tastier.
Not only is there an abundance of veggie options but they have a Vegan pizza that tastes pretty damn good. It comes w/broccoli, spinach, diced tomatoes, vegan cheese and made with super thin crust upon request. It was paper thin yet perfectly crisp, and the veggies were perfectly cooked as well. A highly recommend this option for anyone- vegans, you don't want to miss this.
My other companions had the Amici sampler w/artichokes. I believe there's pepperoni and olives on that. No complaints, every bite gone so I guess that was pretty tasty as well.
If you have some time to kill before your dinner there on a Sunday night, there's a kung fu school around the corner where you can watch adorable little kids kick pads around 6pm. Cuteness! -
Review from Gary J.
Dissatisfied is an appropriate word to describe the pizza. The toppings were sparse, the dough was chewy, and frankly it lacked taste. Too bad because they have made quite an investment in the facility and are not paying attention to the whole reason for a restaurant - the food.
Expensive for a pizza place. -
Review from Adrienne Y.
San Jose, CA
I've always been able to get a table pretty quickly at Amici's and the staff is pretty nice. The food takes a while to come out though, then again, I guess it's because pizza takes a while to make. I love thin crust pizza which is why I like Amici's, but on several occasions, they've burnt the bottoms of my pizza giving it a disgusting taste. Although there's a good variety of different combinations of toppings to get, I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. It's a little to pricey and takes too long just to get some pizza that gets burnt all the time.
The atmosphere is really nice though. It never gets too cramped, crowded, or noisy and the decor is always clean. Also, the servers are always very friendly and attentive. If the food was made better and was worth the price, I'd probably be all over Amici's, but it just doesn't cut it for me. -

DELIVERY SERVICE :-(
I love their pizza but only for eating in. Just tried to order a pizza and just wanted a medium - all I needed. After asking for all my personal info and then taking my order I was told I needed to get more food or they wouldn't deliver. They never mentioned the $25 minimum charge.
By the way, as I was typing this I placed my order at Round Table ($10 min) and I'm sure the kids will be very happy! -

Evan's Thoughts
All it takes is one word to describe my dining experience here: Delicioso!
I came here with my family of 4 and enjoyed a wonderful Italian dinner. We ordered fabulous pesto Gnocchi, magnificent Margherita pizza, and our personal favorite: the New Haven White Clam Pizza. We even fought over the last piece of the white clam. (No seriously...fists were thrown for the last bite of that pizza heaven)
The only comment I'd have was that it was a bit too noisy for my taste. A little girl was screaming her head off a table over because she apparently had lost her blue crayon. If you're looking for an intimate dinner for two, this may not be the place to go. But with family or friends it will go over extremely well.
All in all, 4 stars from me. Bon appetit! -

Amici's has some very good items on their menu but I am becoming more and more disappointed with this restaurant over time. I also am including in this review, the Amici's in Mountain View. We order from both.
Amici's needs better quality control. This is what is hurting them. No one wants to frequent an establishment when you start to wonder, even before you order, if the food will be cooked properly this time. This is my complaint. I have ordered the gnocchi from the Cupertino Amici's twice and both times it was burned. It looked nothing like gnocchi. I finally gave up and was given a credit. Sometimes the pizza, which is usually good, is also burned. Several times we have had to return it, and that is at both the Cupertino and the Mountain View restaurants. I ordered the chilled broccoli salad in Cupertino and it was delicious, done perfectly. I just ordered it from Mountain View Amici's and it was raw and not worth the money. There is too much inconsistency and too much left to chance.
Amici's makes a great vegan pizza. It is flavorful. The Daiya vegan cheese is very good. The New York thin crusted pizza is also very good and similar in thickness and taste to the pizzas in NYC. I also recommend the low carb New York Pizza and appreciate the thoughtfulness of offering this. A large cheese pizza is $19.95. There is outdoor seating at both restaurants, but I like the seating in Cupertino best. It can be very pleasant, if the meal is cooked properly. I hope Amici's improves its quality control because when they get it right, it is very good. -
Review from Aubrey C.
2.5 stars
Amici's has some good things going for it -- some good flavors and unique pizza combinations -- but ultimately can't get past borderline mediocre due to its high cost.
Although the pizzas are generally unlike the mainstream fare you'll see at other pizza places, and Amici wisely has many options without sauce so that you can actually taste the ingredients, a personal 7-inch size is $10. And this won't even fill you up if you're very hungry. A slightly larger 10-inch size is a whopping $16.
The pasta prices are also a bit shell-shocking. They could definitely put more variety in the pasta menu, with no entree-type dishes like chicken parmigiana. The vast majority of it is different pasta types with different sauces. That's a good start, since it gives diners the mix-and-match ability, but ultimately it's still one basic dish: pasta + sauce. Anyway, a small lasagna with meat sauce (note: not meat lasagna; cheese lasagna with meat sauce) is already $12. And really pretty tiny considering the price.
Their desserts could use some work too -- only two things to choose from. I tried the New York cheesecake -- it was flavorful and creamy, and a pretty decent-sized slice, but the cost was $5.75. That cheesecake was probably only worth about $4 max in my own opinion.
Amici's is a decent place, but be prepared for the cost. Even though the flavors are good, it is by no means a knock-your-socks-off kind of place. -
Review from Stephen C.
San Mateo, CA
Interesting and inventive pizza combinations are the main attraction here. Thin crust baked brick oven style leaves a little char and makes each bite crispy and tender at the same time. There's even a special section for the gluten wary.
Don't come if you're expecting cheap take out style pizza. That's not what they're offering. You'll pay a premium price for premium ingredients.
I recommend the garlic bread and the broccoli appetizers (you know, for the illusion of health consciousness before you devour an entire medium pizza) and because they cook the broccoli just right to where it's warm and crisp at the same time.
Also if you're in to sports there's a bunch of vintage photos framed on the walls of famous athletes... who may or may not have enjoyed pizza. -
Review from Stacey L.
The restaurant looks like a small place from the outside but is actually really big on the inside. It gives off the little pizzeria impression but I think what they're going for is actually a sit-down Italian dining place.
I'm a huge fan of the spicy chicken pizza (red peppers, grilled onions, basil) and the spinach salad (cherry tomatoes, onions, feta cheese, sundried tomatoes, pine nuts, drizzled with a bacon-bit dressing). Those two dishes are definitely both must-try's. My overall dining experience however, was just alright. The waitress was not as attentive as I wish she was and only checked on us once for water refills. The food is also slightly pricey for what it is -

Mmmm, disappointment at it's expensive-est. Seriously, what is up with these prices? Came in here for lunch and I think we were practically the only ones in there. We shared the white clam pizza and a plate of lasagna, drool, hungry. Sadly even though we were the only ones the food took quite the while to make its way, oh? But as our food finally came out it was so measly I wanted to cry.
Though the thin-crust pizza was indeed tasty, it's just not worth the moolah! Not to mention really, it's so "thin", I felt like I could be eating air. $12 for a mini pizza ? Not my cup of tea, Amici's. -

Review from Eve K.
I usually like this chain but not completely feeling it as a lunchtime option in Cupertino, so a little less than 3 stars from me.
Cost to worth it ratio: 2 stars (for lunch)
Highlights:
- Clean, new place: always like new lunch options
- Pizzas: not quite as good as Mt. View somehow (maybe due to the young age of the ovens), but still pretty good. I like the thin chewy crust and options like roasted garlic.
Lowlights (my flip side to highlights):
- Feel of the place: in its desire to be contemporary, with its curvy steel look, it comes out as industrial and a bit sterile.
- No lunch specials: big con here, as you'd think they'd offer a lunch slice deal of some sort--slice and salad, 2 slices and a drink, etc. I know the one by the ballpark in SF has slices, but here no such thing. That leaves your options as a mini pizza that's a bit spendy or hoping your lunch buddy and you can agree on a pizza to share.
Not sure I'll be back for lunch, as it wasn't a hit for my co-workers, but maybe for a takeout for dinner sometime on the way home sometime... -

3.5 Stars.
Thin crust pizza is always better, and they have it in interesting flavors, like potato and bacon, and something with eggplant, but as far as quality and flavor, it didn't really stand out and amaze me.
What surprised me though, was the salads. They make some good salad here (unlike other places) The spinach salad and the ceaser salad, are both really good.
