Sad to report, my last two visits have been meh at best.  Tonight the native haddock with crab ravioli was actually flavorless in many respects.  Crab stuffed ravioli should be stuffed with CRAB and perhaps a bit of mild cheese....my ravioli were stuffed with onions and if the oil they were dressed in was EVOO I'll kiss the chef's ass in Macy's front window.  The crab was covered with a horrible crab stuffing with strong hints of mustard....laying the crab stuffing atop the haddock only served to insure that the haddock was flavored with the stuffing, ie the aforementioned mustard.  For $27.00 I expected better and the steamed brocolli was well cooked it just wasn't seasoned one bit...nada.

My wife ordered the "aged" tenderloin with scallops and whiule the scallops were superb, the tenderloin was overdone and somebody needs to tell the chef that stewing a tenderloin is actually a felony.  Listen Chef...cook the meat and then sauce it...DO NOT EVER COOK THE MEAT IN THE SAUCE.....unless of course you're preparing a chuck roast.  Horrible meal tonight...horrible.  What a drop off from our previous visits.

This place came highly recommended. What a disappointment! The dining room is cute...but small. They pack you in like sardines. When we sat in our booth the table was terribly wobbly, the waitress can over and seemed a bit annoyed that she had to shim the table.

The white wine was warm. The entrees were 'meh'...not great but OK. For the money we spent we wanted to be wowed! It was our son's birthday so I asked for a slice of cake with a candle, when we were done our meal. Another person, not our waitress came over with the cake right in the middle of our dinner. We had to shoo her away, ruining the surprise.

All in all it was not a good experience. And to add insult to injury, we asked for a doggy bag, the waitress packed less than half of our leftovers. We left feeling ripped off, then when we realized we got half of our leftovers, we felt doubly ripped off. We will not be going back any time soon.

My mom and 2 sisters went there last week for lunch on a quiet Tuesday afternoon and they refused to serve them. They were asked for ID and provided a passport. The waitress & manager would not take them so they left.
Last time I checked a passport was a valid ID. Disappointing and I won't be giving you my business again.

I normally go to Amici's ( have been MANY times) for good Italian food and good service-tonight I got neither. We were seated  promptly it was raining out and a slow night. Then we sat and sat and sat. The other waitress came over and apologized for the delay . She came over again and apologized and took our drink order. The busboy delivered the wine and apologized. Our server, the bartender, finally finished schmoozing with her 4 patrons at the bar. She came over and we ordered our paninis. After some time there were delivered to the table without the extra sauce as requested. The veal was tasteless and I think the management changed their bread source-it wasn't as good as it normally is. We ate and no one asked us if we needed more wine. The only time our waitress/bartender came around was to make sure the bill got paid-Such Attention to detail!!!  I'll give it one more shot since I think the wait staff is inexperience or maybe they were hanging the bartender out to dry- NO team work and lots of standing around. Amici's use to have an amazing bartender-Deb- she was sorely missed tonight.

p.s. drop the old school plating with the chopped parsley sprinkle-so yesterday!

The food took forever, over an hour and it wasn't even that busy. Food was mediocre. We waited longer then the table next to us and they received free beers while we were offered nothing. Unfortunately, it was my Birthday and it was a miserable experience.

We love this place. It is a very small restaurant with dark lighting. Perfect for a date.

The food is outstanding. Everything I have tasted there has been better than the next item. My wife gets the chicken broccoli ziti every time we go there. She says it is so good that she just can't bring herself to try something new.

It is a bit on the pricey side, but with good reason. You get what you pay for there. We are happy to pay what they ask.

I marked off that it is not a good place for kids, just because it is a small restaurant and the tables are close together. It is also more of a date place than a family place. I have been there with kids and bigger groups (7 of us) and they were able to accommodate us without much trouble. If your kids are well behaved then do not fear taking them here.

One another positive note, the service is excellent. My brother in law is mildly retarded and will only order chicken fingers when we go out to eat. They did not have chicken fingers on the menu, but when he ordered that they did not miss a beat. They told us they did not have them, but would go next door to their other restaurant (Willys Steakhouse, also excellent) and get them from there. That was a great move and cemented our opinion that they are a class act.

This place has some killer pizza.  The sauce is not too sweet, and the ingredients top notch.  I like the sausage/mushroom, but have yet to have a bad pie here.  Crust is bubbly and fairly thin.  It's pricey ($15-$20 for a large), but well worth it.  A large pizza and large house salad feeds 3 hungry guys pretty well.

Also of note, the best steak and cheese in recent memory "steak deluxe".  The roll is super-fresh, probably baked in-house... and big chunks of melt-in-your-mouth steak smothered with peppers and onions and mushrooms... topped with Provolone.  Not your standard pizza-store steak sub!

The Chicken Parm is also excellent.  Real breaded chicken, homemade sauce... mmm.

Usually we do take out from here.  Their entrees are pricey and the place is always jammed on weekends.  The dining room is small, and mostly booths.  There's also a full bar with bar seating.

The Risotto dishes are incredible (veal, especially).

I tried the Scallop appetizer once... it was like 6 scallops and some lettuce for $9 or something ridiculous.  So avoid that one.

I went in there once with my parents for coffee and desserts.  The mocha was about perfect, and the desserts were delectable... I think I had something called a chocolate bomb which I recommend highly.

Chicken parm with angelhair. Get it, love it, box it up and eat it with your fingers cold by the soft glow of your fridge.......*drooling*.
Anyway, we have tried *all* the chicken and veal dishes here. All winners -- never a problem.  We also have only done take out --so I can't vouch for the insides... maybe someday....

One the reasons why the burbs are better than the city - ok, the ONLY reason why the burbs might be better than the city - is that going out to eat is a fraction of the price!  The caveat is, the food probably doesn't measure up.

But this place did!  We started with some martinis - I had the lemon drop - and they were quite good.  They could totally take on some pretentious Martini from Match, for example.

Then, we had an appetizer (calamari, meh, I have had better), and gnocchi (MMM!! Deliciously filling PMS satisfying potatoey goodness), 2 cappuchinos, and a ginormous slab of tiramisu.

    Damage?

    $60!

    Totally worth it.

Plus, you know, Shrewsbury is kind of cute on that one block; we went for a walk in a very old cemetery after... it was a nice date.

Fantastic little place with good atmosphere and some inventive dishes in addition to reliable classics. Very large portions, especially on the classic dishes. Risotto was excellent; braciole was very good; chicken parm was great. Absolutely loved the beef & scallops with lobster ravioli. Order this! Excellent caesar salad can be split among three or four as an appetizer. Small place, so not ideal for a large group. Booths are fine for 4.

We called to ask if there was a wait time because we were a party of 8, and it was Saturday night. The lady told us on the phone that we were in luck, and they could seat us within 10-15 minutes. We were only 5-10 minutes away, so we hurried over. When we arrived, however,  they told us that they could not seat us for two hours no matter what! However, we believe the mistake was theirs because a party of four right ahead of us had just been sat at a huge table set for eight. Poor first impression of this place and poor accommodation on their end! They need to work on communication between staff members. Till then, we won't be coming back! Very dissapointing!

The price was reasonable and the food was acceptable, but something more important was missing.  We went there for dinner one time and later were shocked to find out that we were being overcharged by $10 on the tip.  I called the restaurant to complain, but the manager said it was simply a careless mistake on the waiter's part - would that convince you?  The manager told us the main manager would give us a call back and offer an explanation.  Not surprisingly, we never heard back from her.  We didn't get any apologies, or any further explanation about a $10 tip increase, nor were we informed whether the dishonest waiter was punished or fired.  We just received a silent refund of $10 on our credit card bill later.  Needless to say, never again would we walk into this restaurant.

Cambridge transplants. Amici's is great for  sitting at the bar and having a martini. Somebody has to convince the chef not to put so much sauce on his dishes. Like cologne/perfume, less is more. Pizza is great (a rare find in MA), but too expensive. Staff is hot and cold - sometimes full of themselves, other times pleasant. We'll go there for convenience (3 times a year at most, and we live here), but would more readily eat east of town. And that doesn't necessarily mean Boston - Romaine's in Northborough and Tomasso's are great!

There are not many seating options for groups (my first visit was for a party of 6), but we some how managed to grab the only booth available at 6 pm on Friday. The menu is much larger than I expected and their family style salad was a perfect size for 6 (we had the extremely tasty winter salad). Their food options included everything from panini sandwiches and pizza to risotto and decadent pasta dishes. Their specials were also amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good quality Italian dining.

I've gone here a couple of times now, an it's a total gem!  The wine list is decent but not great, and the house cocktails are fairly modern and fruity.  I've only ever seen two bartenders there, one is a delightful young girl with short black hair who really knows her stuff and is very personable, the other is a bro that seems to be in it for the tips, but is still pleasant.  The food there is great but sometimes lacks in presentation due to the amount of sauce they use.  I'd love to see them cut down the menu a little and really elevate their strongest dishes, the menu is about 8 pages long and is a hodge podge of American/Italian favorites.  I'd love to see a menu that better reflects the Chef's passion for food, rather than have "something for everyone."

This is a cool little place in the old part of Shrewsbury.  They do not have a lot of room or tables, so it can sometimes be tough on the weekends to get a seat.  They do have a cool little (I mean little) bar.  Food is served at the bar and there is typically a good, relaxed atmosphere, although there is a regular lady bartender whi is over the oip and sometimes annoying.  The food here is very good, defintely a couple steps up from your Olive Garden or Bertucci's fare and not much or anymore expensive.  This place is worth a visit.  I wish they were open on weekend afternoons through outthe year, the bar would make a good place to catch a football game and eat.

Very small intimate restaurant, food is wonderful, decent portions for the price. No reservations after around 6:30 so plan ahead. Recommend to take a date or family. I had the veal gnocchi, the sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes together were a bit overwhelming so I wouldn't necessarily recommend that in particular but the different pastas with the garlic cream sauce are great. The fresh bread with whole roasted garlic cloves soaking  in oil is a wonderful touch.
