Best Jukebox EVER!!! Talk about great bar music, the jukebox at the Ginger Man can keep you busy for hours.
100's of beers that rival the selection of The Flying Saucer, darts, live music, great bartenders and a friendly atmosphere make for a great hang out.

Beer, darts, bratwursts, and a great jukebox, this is another one of my all time favorite bars. The only downside is that they don't serve liquor, but I really like beer too so its fine with me. The patio and beer garden are great when the weather is warm and the upstairs lounge is relaxing. I go here after work to relax with friends and have some beers, but its pretty fun on the weekends too. I don't know the science behind it, but after you drink a bunch of stout European beers everything is ok, until the next morning.

I WISH I could give the Ginger Man 3.5 stars. I'll do four, though.
Because the selection is really great. And there's no other Ginger Man (Men?) in Dallas. I think there are a couple others in the other states...but yeah, the only one in Dallas.
So. Selection - check.
The crowd is pretty agreeable. Not too many frat boys, not too many trendy uptight modeling types. A nice mix.
The outside patio and upstair porch areas RAWK. Great for dogs, if you've got one. In fact, buy a dog, get a leash, take it to the Ginger Man. The dog will love it. You'll see.
I took off a star (well, kind of one and a half) because sometimes the Saturday night live music is obnoxious. And sucky.
Also, the benches outside? They hurt. They hurt alot.
But the venue is awesome, your dog will like it, and you can get some great beer here. When the weather is mild, I'm telling you - go.

With its dark wood, leather couches, and book shelves, Ginger Man feels like a classy affair. But with its huge picnic table-ridden patio, sometimes cover-bands, and dart board, it also feels like a laid back place to detox with friends.
And while you're detoxing from the week, tox with one of their g'jillion beers on tap from all over the world. If you're looking to try something new, the bartenders almost always have a perfect recommendation for you.
The food is limited, but what they have is good. My only complaint is - because the bar is usually overflowing with people - it can take a while to actually get a drink.
Also, according to another review, they have a church service on Mondays? Who knew?

If you can think of a beer that you want, the Ginger Man probably has it on tap. Not to mention you can get PITCHERS yes PITCHERS of STELLA!! OMG bad idea! This is a great place in Uptown, I don't feel like I am surrounded by 30K millionaires at all....of course those pitchers really help. As for the food, the cheese plate is standard and delicious fare. The turkey cranberry sandwich is good, but it doesn't come with anything else on it so if you are really hungry this isn't going to cut it. Great patio for the warm weather. The upstairs area with the couches is almost like drinking at home with your best buddies....but with more ambience and more cost....hehe

The beer lover in me will always find a second home here. Good outdoor patio area, mostly easy parking, bathrooms that swing outward, church service on Monday evenings (I'm totally serious), and dog friendly.
I always get the Black and Tan, which is always spot on, but they have a large variety for every interest.
Ginger Man is great for conversation. The music volume is kept low, and it's not so dark that you can't see the person you're talking too.
I do have one complaint though (and I'm not even talking about the cigar smoke because that's kept outside), one of their regulars has a bad habit of leaving his dog in the truck. I know people have complained, the staff have to hear about it, but the management will not intervene.

Outdoor patio, and a great selection of beer. When I say great selection, I'm not kidding. I can get my chimay blue, as well as a genny cream ale. It totally takes care of those moments when all you can think is "Boy, could I go for a genny now"
The crowd is much more laid back and way less "stripey shirt" than a lot of other bars in the area. I haven't had the food but if it's as good as the "cousin " pub in CT this place is an easy win

A pretty good selection of beers, so if you like beer, you'll like it. Unfortunately their selection of food is rather limited so if you need to get something to eat while downing those beers, good luck, better eat before you come here.

While visiting a friend in Dallas, I was promised I would not be made to go to any douchey bars. And even though the Ginger Man appears to be in one of the snootier parts of Dallas, it was definitely low-key and just right for this Seattle-ite. I did feel a tad old, surrounded by kids who appeared to be in their early 20s, but the vibe was very chill.
Minus one star for the amount of time it took to get a beer.

I went here for the kick-off night of my 10 year high school reunion. We had the whole upstairs to ourselves. Upstairs it's a bit small, but there is a separate bar and patio area that adds space.
Downstairs there is a rather large patio area attached. They seemed to have a decent number of beers on tap that were reasonably priced. It was a nice setting to reconvene with people who I hadn't seen in over a decade.

Great beer selection. Nice layout. There are big tables outside and nice couches upstairs. The parking situation is not so good, and they don't have a lot of food, but this is still a great pub where you can hang out with friends.
This is our favorite beer place in Dallas. We love the outdoor patio and excellent beer selection. We've always had great service. We love the Maredsous, dogfish head 60 or 90, golden monkey, Stella artois and when they have it in yum the St. Bernardus. This is a place we stop before we go out to din's so we don't eat much here- though they have a good beer companion plate of cheeses and salami's (nothing fancy) and a good spinach artichoke dip with french bread.

Great place for great beer and huge variety of them too. I went during a friday night and the place was crowded but not so much that service was impossible. It's pretty much a straight bar but I felt welcome and the people were friendly although. Nice outdoor sitting area up high. Reminds me of a Key West florida bar but without the water.
I did not see any texas yahoos, mostly trendy young types but that is what you would expect from the nice Mckinney area. I will definitely go back and urge you to try this funky place out.
* Try the Chimey Belgian beer. It will knock you off your chair!
This place reminds me of my home of seven years...Austin, TX. In the yuppy mecca of uptown lies this laid back bar. There are large wooden tables and benches out back and a nice deck out front with seating as well. It is a great beer joint to meet up with friends to catch up because you don't have to scream to be heard.
No hard liquor here, but a large beer selection, jammin' jukebox, and a much needed laid back atmosphere. Finally, a place where you will find more flip flops that raised collars.

Its a good thing I don't live in Dallas right now because if I did, I think I would want to live close to The Ginger Man...and go there every day. Its definitely a refreshing bar in the Dallas scene. Beer and wine rule which lend to sunny afternoon drinking and lounging. Great place for a drink after work too. Overall a great pub with a huge selection of beer. I make sure to stop by whenever I'm in town.

I love the Gingerman. I first came here before I lived downtown and got so lost looking for it. But once you find it, you'll love it. Very laid back, which is a nice surprise for the area that it's in. It's an old house converted into a beer garden. A great patio with large wooden picnic benches help encourage conversation with people not in your group. There is a small upstairs library area that is really nice and a bit more private. Most importantly, I love the people here, It is by far the least stuckup bar in the area very casual, nothing tucked in, lot's of hats and flip flops...my type of place. In a nutshell it's a great neighborhood bar that's anything but pretentious.

Every bit of what the "Five Star" people say is true.
'Nuff said.
I just went here over the weekend while I was in town. A bunch of people from high school were there. I liked this Gingerman because it's much larger then the one in Houston, but the service wasn't great. My brother and I stood at the bar for at least 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged. I don't drink beer so I managed to sip my cider for the whole 2 hours we were there and my brother managed to get drinks a little quicker upstairs. Once you find the bar, it's worth checking out, if nothing else, it serves a lot of beer.
There is nothing that really sucks about this place, but it's a scene pretending not to be a scene.
