"Silence. The time has come, for you to bowl for your life"
I came here as a wee child. And I will admit, I had a bowling coach, belonged to a bowling league, and had my own customized (name engraved, fingers sized, mickey mouse themed) bowling ball...and I am not ashamed.
The experiences here as a kid have aided me in holding my own at any NY bowling alley with friends.
Surprisingly, Shirley Lanes, has tried to keep up her appearances...even since when I used to go there. I'm sure it's still cheap as hell and smells like socks and cheetohs, but well worth it for the nostalgia. (I remember pulling up in the parking lot and the walls, made of vinyl siding, you could hear the balls hitting the pins.)
Nothing has changed. Their little kid arcade is still there and their bathrooms host that awful motion sensor sink activation in the bathroom.
If you're from the area, a sure fire hometown place to bring friends. Would I deal with the league attitudes anymore... probs not.Listed in: April Underdog Challenge

Quite honestly, I'm surprised they're still around. Along with WHB Lanes, they were my go-to back in the day, beating Wildwood which brings in similar clientèle. Average AMF that isn't immediately visible but is certainly easily accessible.
