$10 bowling on Monday night? I'm in! It was pretty packed on a Monday night. They have a full bar and you can bring in your own food too. My friends invited my boyfriend and I to join them and they waited for over an hour to get a lane! luckily, they closed at 1am, so we had a couple hours to bowl a few games. It was a lot of fun.
The staff is laid back. You don't have to give them one of your shoes. The place itself is more outdated than Strike in Cupertino, but not nearly as pretentious nor as expensive. -
Review from Yum E.
Came by for dinner the other night and it definitely felt like time travel... The interior was dated from the 70s/80s. (Try visiting BowlMore for a more modern experience.)
The highlight about the experience was the talent behind the counter upon arrival.
In general the experience was satisfactory with the lanes in good working order, although somewhat old.
I forgot to take a picture of the vending machine that they pulled out and just tried to fill the space with tape....seriously?!?
The crowd at the venue seems three-fold: famliy with small children, high school hangout, or the more "senior" crowd. -

Use to come here a lot when I was in a bowling league here. I usually like Cloverleafs lanes better, but since this place is a lot closer where I'm from I usually settle at this alley. This place use to get packed when I use to come here, now it seems a little bit slower than before, but a lot of people come here. I like their bar here which makes bowling a that much more fun.
Price here is pretty decent and I still believe they have the cheap Tuesday's if I'm not mistaken. This alley is pretty much average, and I don't mind coming here every now and then. This place is also good for kids, so take e'm here and have a good time out. -

I like this place, came here on a saturday night at 9pm and got a lane right away. It was not crowded at all.
We got the "extreme" bowling deal that included 2 hours of bowling, shoe rental and 1 large pizza (8 slices) for 4 people for about $83. -

Came here on a Tuesday for one of their cheaper game nights.
The place was not overly crowded but they strategically make people wait for the lanes.
Food is decently priced, but not overly tasty... It is better to eat before you go or bring food with you.
It would be nice if the other people wouldn't smoke indoors, but this is a review of the place and not of the people who go there. -

$5 shoe rentals (x 2 people) + $5 game (x 2 people) = $20 for a measy game!!
We felt very ripped off. $5 for shoe rentals is ridic.
Sorry, not worth it. On the upside, it was nice and empty when we came and this place is pretty big! About 40 or so lanes. But the place seems dirty and the balls aren't organized so it's hard to find your size. -

me n baby blue - bowled one game (59 and 95, yes, really). had the personal pizza $7 (skip it!) and the salted pretzel $3 (tell them "no brush-on butter") and a big ass wild cherry pepsi,
Had a blast and bonded with my boy - 5 stars! -

review's a bit overdue but thought i'd post anyway.
we held my son's 8th birthday party here fall 2011. i had some concerns about holding a big party there as my company had previously tried to book a party here and ended up getting double booked. i spoke with cindy, the manager at the time, and she said that happened under different management and then assured me, she would make sure things went smoothly. and that they did!
we were expecting approximately 150 guests. cindy worked with me to provide the most affordable option for our size group from # of lanes to how much food we should think about getting. we ended up reserving 16 lanes (yes, 16 lanes) for approx. 100 bowlers and picked a variety of items from the menu. we asked the mgr to make sure her staff staggered the food and drinks coming out so that we would be able to feed our guests during most of the 2 hour timeframe.
we arrived 30 minutes early to set up. we were greeted by a staff of 2 who helped us set up the gift and favor table. AMF provided the table covers and began setting up the food table. the employees were very good at making sure they coordinated when we wanted the food and drinks to come out, when the cake should be served and any requests were quickly taken care of. the manager on duty that day was clearly briefed by cindy (who was off that day) to make sure that our event went smoothly! :) the 2 hours flew by so quickly! next time i think we'd add an extra hour to wind down hahaha.
we have been back with our family and friends on a regular day and on those occasions, getting a lane and the price (special pricing during their promotions) was great! :) -

The lighting is bad, especially at the lanes, which makes it difficult to see the markers and boards when bowling. Some of the lanes have mechanical problems, computer problems, or both. Although the former manager claims that the lanes are oiled prior to league play (which I seriously doubt!), they are dry and if they are indeed oiled, it's only a very thin layer--which only lasts a frame or two. During league play they leave the music on and often assign lanes to paying customers right next to you. One would figure that a corporate-owned bowling alley would be much better than the typical "mom and pop" houses. Apparently, this isn't the case! As if the house conditions are not enough, beware of the league "sandbaggers" who stop bowling once they know that they've already wrapped up a spot in the playoffs and then start bowling when it really counts! This is the first and definitely the last time I'm joining league at Mission!

We reserved 4 lanes. We go there early & told them we were here & they thanked us for arriving early. 2 lanes weren't working so they gave 2 of our lanes to other people.
So about 12 out of 24 of us had to wait 1-2 hours.
The air hockey table can't keep score.
"When are our reserved lanes going to open?" I ask after 1 hour. Or was it 2?
"I don't know," the manager says. "10-15 mins."
^This is the second time he said that. And it's been at least 1 hour.
We finally get our lanes. They stop working midway through a game so someone gets a strike when they didn't really get a strike.
Then it stops working a second time.
They didn't turn on the music until way late.
One star, because bowling was fun and the manager was nice even though he gave our lanes away and when I gave him a bitch face. -

The bowling alleys here are nice, but not worth the trouble one goes through to play. The games and shoes are all very, very expensive, but can become very affordable with coupons. Without the coupons, however, I would never be coming here. The shoes on a normal day are $5 rental (which is ridiculous. buying your own shoes cost $25+, so buy your own shoes asap if you plan on bowling occasionally), and each game ranges widely in price, depending on the day/time etc. Be sure to go during discount hours or with coupons, or else you'll be burning through money just to play a handful of games.
The employees here are terrible. They are the major reason why this review is giving them a one. They are not specific in anything, and respond to problems very poorly. The janitor and cashiers are mean and not very courteous towards customers.
What disgusts me the most are the employers. I feel like they have the attitude of "we have a million customers so we don't have to care about them because more will come anyways". Several times, I have called and asked before hand about when is a good time to go, how the lane availability is and etc, and show up as they say to find myself waiting a very long time or finding something different from what they said on the phone. I can give specific examples, but it'd be easier for you guys to just find another bowling alley (they're everywhere) and play there instead.
Long story short, this overpriced bowling alley is not preferable over other, nicer, homier alleys like Cloverleaf Bowling in Fremont. -
Review from Angela K.
Sign up on the AMF mailing list and you get valuable coupons! Most recently they are sending out free game coupons with shoe rental. My niece and nephew were visiting this week so it was perfect afternoon trip to the bowling alley. Shoe rental runs for $5 per person and you get a free game. Pretty good deal.
Place was pretty empty in the afternoon but they need to hire more staff even if it's the middle of the day. They had one guy in charge of the shoe rental/cashier AND the food preparer/cashier. So the same guy is frying my fries as grabbing my shoe rentals. Not a fan of this. Side note: their fries are really delicious!
Splurge and hire one more high schooler for extra few hours in the summer please! -

I am currently in a league at this bowling alley and so far I would have to rate the experience as a league member as great in regards to amenities. If i was just a regular customer just coming to have a little bit of fun bowling however, I would say that this bowling alley is just OK. The alley can get a little crowded because of a previous deal that used to attract a lot of attention to the location ($2.00 games after 9:00PM), so it can be a little bit of an inconvenience when you have to wait around. While this location has done a lot of improvements and changes in regards to their service (food servers, new menu options, etc) it's not great when you can't even bring in your own Gatorade to drink while you bowl because of the "no outside food rule." It's not a deal breaker but I did not like being told that I had to finish my drink outside or throw it away. There's a bit of an issue with people bringing their food and drinks down to the lanes as spillage can ruin your bowling shoes, but it's somewhat to be expected at a place like this.
In regards to bowling leagues here I think the amenities you get are great. On Thursdays from 3-5 you can bowl unlimited practice games, although you generally have to share the lanes, it's still a pretty nice experience. In addition to this you get a coupon for two free games every week, and you receive a 20% discount on non-alcoholic beverages and food, also a discount at their pro shop. If I wanted to bowl just for fun, I may or may not come to these lanes, but if you're interested in joining a league (especially if you're a beginning/intermediate bowler) there are a lot of great perks to it. -

Teenyboppers GALORE!! LOL.
A good place to have some drinks, buy a pitcher of beer and attempt to bowl! They have a bar here-- Nice!
I've been here a few times and had a blast every time.
Fun place to have a girls night out, fun-night with friends or a date!!
Do I need to repeat-- THEY HAVE A BAR HERE?! Haha I sound like an alcoholic, but this place is a great place to have a good time (even for the beginners- like me!) -

Just went here the other day and wanted to add a little more to my previous review. It was a Saturday night and games are $6.50 with $4.00 for shoes. If you are planning to bowl more than two games, you might as well do the unlimited bowling for $17 which includes shoes and unlimited bowling for 2 hours. This is what I did, and I was able to get 5 games out of it.
Also, we bought a pitcher of Coors Light for $10, which I think is a good price for the bowling alley. To go with the beer, of course we had to get a large sampler plate. Came with 6 mozzarella sticks, 6 buffalo wings, 2 egg rolls, and nachos. For $18 it was a decent price and it was really tasty.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Dear Manager,
Your staff are rude, especially Kayla. They need some employee training because talking to customers without any eye contact and unwilling to help resolve problems are not acceptable ---- not to mention trying to screw people over to cover up their own mistakes. I've never seen such poor attitude in a place that's meant for people to come to unwind.
If I could give a negative 5 stars, I would. -

I'd go here again. If you're looking for something to do any evening and you don't want to go clubbing, go bowling. This place has a cool laid back atmosphere. I paid $17 for 2 hours unlimited. The first time I went Lane 4 broke a few times in the beginning. We told the employees there and they apologized and added another 15 minutes to ensure we got our money's worth.
There's a large screen tv above the lanes. Its a cool distraction when you're waiting for your turn. The picture is mediocre but the speaker system was cool. -

I love this place. Bowling is growing on me and mission lanes is the best place to go without spending so much money. It depends on when you go. Monday nights after 7 is 1 dollar per game and Sunday through Thursday after 9 costs 2.50 a game. My favorite time to go is Sunday morning from 9am to 11am. You pay 10 dollars for two hours for unlimited games.
The service is okay. Sometimes they look mad and it seems like they hate their job but most of the time they're helpful and nice.
Overall, mission lanes is a perfect place to go bowl for the awesome price, just remember to go a little early because it does get really pack and the wait is horrible. -

Low $20-something for two people: one game each and shoes on a Saturday night. I don't think this is too expensive considering that they have a nice bar, music playing, and pretty lights!
I live pretty close to this place, but have only been here once before this past visit and it was way back in elementary school! So, coming here again I was a bit scared considering how it will look. As I entered I was relatively surprised at how modern it looked! I will definitely suggest coming here instead of any other place from now on!
The service was good, the bar prices were really cheap! One large margarita was only $8, a pitcher of fat tire was $14, and a pitcher of some cheap beer was $10 - can't beat that! The pitchers had a large ice block in the middle (I thought because of the ice pack we weren't going to get our money worth, but we got a good number of beers per pitcher. About 6-7?)
Love the atmosphere and will definitely be back. -
Review from Enza P.
I've been here several times with friends and family. On weekdays starting at 9PM, each game is $2.50 and each pair of shoes are $4.75. At the beginning, I thought this was a crazy good deal, but after experiencing other bowling alleys, I realized other places offer games for only $1 each and shoes are $1 each also! For our group of 5 people, we purchased 3 games for each person and 3 pairs of shoes. $52!!! TOTALLY ADDS UP.
The vibe here is good, and the music even got my traditional dad and quiet brother dancing around which just made the experience that much better.
The thingy that brings back your bowling ball kept getting stuck and didn't like giving my dad's bowling ball back. The service was okay, but our games were counted wrong and we had to stand in a long line to get it fixed and then the scores got messed up now and then too.
Overall, I like the clean lanes, and overall vibe. I'd never come here during regular priced hours because there are other bowling alleys with better prices. But I think the location definitely drives many customers because I'd have to drive about 20 minutes to get to the next bowling alley. -

I came in to bowl on 8/29/11 around 10pm with a group of 8 since it was only a dollar a game. We each paid for 2 games but the blonde cashier lady ended our game early because she thought we only paid for 7 people... we were like ok lets bring her our receipts but when we showed it to her she made up some dumb excuse like those receipts were duplicates because they were printed a minute after the other one... I was thinking "ARE YOU RETARDED? IT'S BECAUSE WE WERE STANDING INLINE TOGETHER SO OUR RECEIPTS' TIMESTAMP WILL BE A MINUTE APART" Then the guy who rang us up couldn't remember what he charged us so he was like "it's only two dollars" and gave us $2 dollars from his wallet. What a slap in the face... we don't need your money, we already paid for the games! How bad can your memory be? I hope when they count at the end of the day, they realize that they have $2 extra dollars in their register. I don't understand why they couldn't just check their system? I'm sorry you guys have to work a minimum wage paying job but don't take it out on the customers with your shiitty customer service & attitude.
ps. the pizza sucks -
Review from Tram N.
I think this place is a little pricey than Clover's in Fremont. I came after 6 for the lights and music but to my surprised the place isn't more dimmed... the music and the screen was fair and the guy that helped me was really nice and helpful. He gave me and my Daughter direct attention and gave us several bowling balls to try before setting us up.
The menu is way overpriced. I got the chicken tenders combo and a drink for freaking $18! Never again! The chicken tenders were good, the fries were a tad soggy and was not given generously. But I guess I can't expect much.
Overall we had a good time.. $60 later and a little over an hour.. 3 games, shoes, and the food. -

Mission Lanes is like the ugly girl whose super chill to hang out with. Compared with other bowling alleys like the 300 and Strikes, its a little run down and outdated.
But at the same time it's alot cheaper to bowl here then other places. Employees are friendly, and it's not too expensive to get wasted at the bar. Drinks are STRONG and after a couple Long Islands, drunk bowling with friends is the best.
No injuries (yet) and I always have a good time when I come here..so why not! Chill spot. -

This review is for the bar. If I could, I would give them 0 stars.
Came here with a group of friends to bowl but since I don't bowl I decided to buy myself a drink. Tried ordering a drink but apparently they don't carry redbull so they couldn't make it. Instead I ordered a Midori sour for me and a friend and the bartender Lanesha had to go to the corner to ask this lady how to make it. She poured midori and lime juice in it and handed it off to us. We order it enough times from different places to know what it should taste like and what we got didn't taste any alcohol at all. We came back and told her that it was missing a splash of vodka and so she walked back asking the lady (also a worker) sitting in the corner and the lady starts arguing with us that it only consists of midori. Umm hello lady, if I really wanted to just drink that i'd rather go to the vending machine to buy a soda, idiots. So we pulled out our phone and searched up the reciepe to make midori sours and yep 1 shot of vodka is called for. We even showed her but she continued to argue with us. I don't know about you but i'd feel pretty stupid if i were the lady and just correct our drink so we can be happy and on our way. So MANAGEMENT, PLEASE FIRE THAT OLD BLONDE HAIRED LADY from the bar please, apparently she is training your new bartender (Lanesha) on how to incorrectly make simple common drinks. The bartender herself doesn't seem to know how to bartend either. Maybe their clients are only beer drinkers and all they do is open beers but don't claim to serve alcohol if you don't even have people who know how to work the bar. If you don't know how to make that particular drink, just say so instead of pulling it out of your a$$ as if you do.
Moral of the story, I basically paid $11 plus tip for an alcoholic drink with no alcohol and had to continue to argue about it even after we pulled the reciepe online. -

I bowled a 137 here. And for that reason... I love this place.
Had going in thinking that I was about as good as 90. But then 2 games later I was 137 & 134 for each of the two games we played. I think these were the best scores I've EVER done.
Yay AMF Mission Lanes. You complete me. Well.. in bowling. -

I came here with a group from work. We were able to use a private room and the place is clean (big pros in my book). We had 3 lanes. BUT...If you're a serious bowler, you may get frustrated because the automatic pin counter didn't count the back corner pin, the resetter would get stuck, we'd have to throw down gutter balls after a strike or spare to get it to reset, stuff like that. I pushed the help button twice and never received help (they did not have extra staffing to prep for spring break). So I'd say if you were serious about your score, this place would be annoying. BUT the lane lights and fun stuff made up for it for our group and the lanes didn't feel too warp and they were well oiled (i.e. balls didn't go all crazy). ALL IN ALL- We all had a blast. We had another group bowling event at a SJ alley and I'd rate this as a better "fun" experience but the other bowling alley was a better bowling experience (i.e. the equipment worked flawlessly).

I used to come here all the time back in 2005-2006. It was usually busy, affordable and they're well-equipped with enough range in shoes and bowling balls.
If you're looking to just bowl, this is a decent place to come. I was just here on a Saturday night and the place was pretty empty. There were maybe 6-7 lanes being used and there were probably 3-4 visible staff people around. Place still smells like cigarettes and beer, but there's
plenty of air conditioning and fans to counter this.
Good place for families, great deals on certain days and plenty of parking. Bathrooms, bar and food
counter seem to be well-tended
and stocked. I do enjoy coming here. Usually a good crowd full of people who wanna bowl. The crowd at other bowling allies are a little more pretentious, if you ask me.
I did have one problem that stopped my night of bowling from being a smooth ride: The girl working the counter was rude! As I turned in shoes and wanted to ask about Sunday morning specials, I waited until the girl was finished talking with another (drunk) customer. I tried some obvious gestures to catch her attention: I stood right behind the drunk customer to indicate the start of a line, I looked her straight in the eyes although hers never met mine after I turned in the shoes, I paced so that she could hopefully catch my movement and look at me - but NO - I got nothing. I even listened in on their conversation and they were talking about working at bowling allies! Like seriously, I just had one freaking question and I wanted to be acknowledged, you rude ass!
Another staff person came from the back office after he saw me standing there for hella long. Too bad he couldn't even answer my question about the details of Sunday morning specials. His answer was loaded with a bunch of "I'm not sure" or "I don't know" responses.
2 stars because this place used to be good to me and because the bowling environment is fun and not rundown. Needs some serious training in appropriate customer service, though. Geez. -

I was not too impressed with this place due to a few things. First thing I noticed right away, trash on the floor (napkins, plates, crumbs, etc). o.0 You would figure people would be a bit more clean and organized. Definitely not a good start. Also, it's a bit pricey if you come early. $6 per person plus $4 for bowling shoes... no thank you.
Also, it gets SUPER crowded. When it gets that crowded, their service gets pretty lousy... this will be my first and last here. And if you're looking to go elsewhere, D&B's is down the street -

We went here for ABT Sunday morning. The layout is almost identical to AMF Pinole Valley Lanes.
The service was nice and friendly. The food was typical of AMF. I always get chicken tenders but the wings are good too.
The facilities were maintained fairly well especially for an AMF establishment. The only issue I ran into was a ball would be thrown and the rack would come down but nothing else would happen. I would have to press the reset button to get it to move again. This happened about 3 or so times. Several of the fans didn't work very well either, how hard could it be to clean them or even replace them? Other than that, there could be more seating. -

I love bowling.
I have not been to this bowling alley in forever, and it is just as i remember it. Well, except for the price being way higher than I remember, but coupons help with that. They have a ton of league bowling going on so call ahead and make sure there is a lane available.
All in all I recommend this place for a fun night with family, friends or any combination of that. -

Sun-Thursday- $2.50/game after 9PM

This place has seen a pretty significant face lift from the last time I was here years ago with newer bowling balls, lanes, and machines. Staff is somewhat friendly, but you're not here to really mingle with them anyways. You're here to bowl! Turkey anyone? -

Want a free game of bowling? Check it out: http://cs.silverpop.co... Up to 10 people get a free game. COOL RIGHT?
My mom wanted to plan a "family night." I have a feeling it's because I've been spending my weekends with my boyfriend... But YAY for family time :D So, I packed my party van with me, my bf, mama, papa, brother John, cousin Stephanie & my godson Simon. Ain't a bad group, right?
When we got there, I showed the guy my printout coupon for free games, and asked for my lane reservation on a Friday night at 7:30pm. They lost the reservation (WHAT??) but the good news was that there were tons of lanes that were available. We decided 2 lanes would suffice for a party of 7. Let the fun begin.
GAME
Friday night was league night, so the PROS took up most of the lanes. They placed us at the end so that we would have a bit of privacy (lanes 39&40). AVOID LANE 40. We had tons of problems on this one!!! Pins got stuck, the reset button didn't work, etc. We had to buzz in a couple times. =/ Lane 39 was a bit better, but my dad's strike didn't register once. He was excited about it too! At least we all got a glimpse of it.
PRICES
On a Friday night at 7:30pm...
$4.75 for shoes
$6 per game
ENVIRONMENT
AMF Mission Lanes is a CLEAN bowling place. It doesn't have the stinky, sweaty smell that the usual bowling places have. PLUS! And there was also an attentive waitress offering food & drinks.
OVERALL
Minus a star for losing my reservation...
Minus another star for crappy things that disrupted our games...
But regardless, bowling with the fam & bf was fun.
In the future, I'd probably hit up 4th Street Bowl... -

Cheap Drinks + Cheap Bowling = Great Times!
A game of bowling after 9pm runs for $2.50. A pitcher of beer runs for $7.92 (tax included). Bring $15 bucks and your good to go for the night. Can't beat that!
This place is slowly pasting 300 as my favorite spot to bowl. The lanes are comparable and you can get pitchers of beers(no pitchers @ 300 so its $5 for a bottle of beer). Makes sense why the past 4-5 times I've gone bowling its been here instead of 300. -

Been bowling here for about a year now every Sunday and usually one more time during the week. After 9pm on Sun thru Thur, each game is only $2.50 which is a really good deal! This place is not fancy and you definitely don't come here to just chill like some of the newer bowling alleys. You won't find any comfy couches, black lights, loud music or wait staff to take your food orders. If you are looking for that, go to 300 or Strike.
You come to Mission Lanes to bowl. I feel this place at least tries to cater to actual bowlers. However, I wish they would let you have two lanes even though you have less than 6 ppl, but I understand why you can't. This place gets packed after 9pm especially in the summer when the high school kids come by. On Sunday, definitely call ahead to reserve lanes or you will wait 1 to 2 hrs. Food is nothing special but I do like the fries here but sometimes it can be too salty so to be on the safe side let them know that you want less salt when you order. Service is pretty good overall: they will deliver your food if you have lanes once you order, quick to fix your lanes if something goes wrong, and if you ball is damaged by the lanes they will fix it for free! -
Review from Thao N.
Before you step out for a night of bowling, you'll want to give them a call to see if the leagues will be playing that night and what time they'll be finished.
I went here on a Wednesday night after 9pm and it was super packed. It was packed with people in leagues and people who wanted to pay $2.50 per game. We had to wait 30+ minutes for ONE lane. It was just our luck because we got a lane right next to these ANNOYING people. They kept going into our lane after they bowled down theirs.
In my opinion, 300 in San Jose has a better atmosphere and appearance, but you pay for what you get right? When you pay for your games, don't forget to ask for the FREE HOLIDAY BONU$ SCRATCH-OFF PIECE. Who knows, you might win something good. I won a buy one game and get one free...too bad it's not valid after 9pm though. Everyone is guaranteed to win something. Good luck! -

This place is straight up whack for the following reasons:
- Over crowded... and when you put your name on the list, the clerks act like fuck faces you just wanna use the airhockey things and hit them upside the head. If you work there as a clerk, yeah, I'm talking to you- FOO. STEP UP!
- The place smells like the 70's eventhough they've renovated the place.
- It's always soooo nippley in the place because of the ceiling fans. Is there only a "super fast" setting? The breeze makes peoples' germy sneezes enter my breathing bubble. wtf.
The only mediocre thing about this place is their french fries and food service people. They're cool... gotta be cool with them so they don't hack a loogie in your food. knawmsayin????
Bowling in general is just a weird sport... I'd rather play it on my brother's Wii.
