This place was hard to find. I passed where it was and ended up waiting for ten minutes at a light on Telegraph Road. I turned back around and found the Shoppers Plaza and saw a sign pointing towards the alley. Once again, hard to find since the sign pointed towards a lane that said "do not enter." When I figured out you had to use the side street nearby to get into the parking lot for the lane, I finally found the place.

I think this alley's clean and decent, and the pizza they served (when I got a slice---our party ate the pizza up quickly) was good. Customer service needs work, though. The woman (why they only had one person working the register when a long line was forming was beyond me) working at the moment had a nasty attitude, and referred to one of the members of my party as a "little girl," though said little girl is close to 30.

Kind of a bummer. I read a lot of these reviews before going, and I didn't figure it could be as bad as everyone said. We went on a Saturday night, which means cosmic bowling, or, more correctly, the lights are off and it's hard to see. Of course, you're going to be paying more for this experience than if they just had the lights on. $5.75 per person per game. 32 bucks for 2 games for 2 people and shoes.

All of this could be accepted if the place wasn't just so poorly managed. Seriously understaffed. We waited ~10 minutes just to check in. Trying to get a beer was completely fruitless after waiting 15 minutes. Whoever was supposed to be running the concessions left after serving the customers in front of us. There are as many security officers/bowling cops as there are people on staff, which is frustrating, because the security guys will see how long you're waiting and make comments like "I wonder where everybody went."

Despite all this, the place is pretty popular. The facilities aren't that bad, but the experience leaves much to be desired.

I'm not a bowler, my boyfriend does, and he said that the lanes were much better than what you get at Lucky Strike.   They are not overly oiled so you can get a good spin on your ball.

For me, I just appreciated the very attentive customer service, and the affordable prices.  There were plenty of lanes, and it was definitely a family friendly place on a Saturday afternoon.  I'd imagine that it would bring a more adult crowd later in the evenings.   Lots of food and beer to be had.

    Bonus Points:
Really Warm and Doughy Soft Pretzels
New Rental Shoes! (I hate it when they're old and smelly)
Decent Beer Selection (Not just Buds)

Shady, slimy, expensive and the lane kept breaking down.

I liked this place. Nothing quite like an underground bowling alley. Since my father has lived in the area most of my life I remember going to the various shops above this place and hearing the strikes. I finally got to go!

My father hadn't bowled in..um....30+ years and he didn't do too bad! It was a family outing with my brother and husband. The crowd was pleasant, it's always nice seeing smiling people, and people texting while throwing a ball down the lane. :D

As for food delivery to the table, I'd be ready to chase your order down. We ordered a pretzel and some fries and the fries never came, even after almost 40 minutes. :(

At least they were quick to refund.

It was fun! I would definately go again!!

I'm not tooting my own horn here, but I spent A LOT of time in this place when I was in grade school(league) and when I competed in tournaments in highschool. I would practice twice a week, league bowl and then roll in a tournament over the weekend.

I'll always have fond memories of winning tournaments, bowling doubles with my brothers and bowling with my grandfather. If I had to rate this place, now thats another story.

I haven't been here in awhile, I stopped bowling regulary years back, but as I remember they tried updating the place after AMF bought them out. They changed managers 4 times. They changed the ball returns and resurfaced many of the lanes. The center was never really a high end tournament contender based on the time and care they would put into there lanes. It was always more of a blue collar everyday Joe league night spot that offered cosmic bowling at night.

It's pretty dingy inside, the bathrooms are less then desirable, but either or it isn't that bad. It needs to be renovated. And from what I remember it always had a seedy 70's bar feel to it. Now that the smoking ban is on, I'm sure the air is lighter inside of this place.

In short, it needs to be gutted and heavily renovated. I wish they'd step this place up.

Note: it is located UNDERNEATH the Shoppers in the shopping center.

The place is clean enough, plenty of lanes (2 sides to the alley), but the general crowd of people that were there kind of killed any thought that I would bring my children with me here.

$5/game, $4.50 for shoes.  No fancy scoring computers or anything of the sort; actually the system seems much like the one I was used over a decade ago.  They did have a lot of balls for each weight, so no worries about finding your preferred weight.
