One of the 1 star reviews accuses the glowing responses of being from Amerisave employees.  Well, I can't say one way or the other if that's the case, but I'd guess it has more to do with the fact that Amerisave offers you a small amount of money off closing to post a review on certain sites and that includes Yelp.

I am here posting a review not for the $5, as I waited till after closing so I could review the complete process.  And ours was a good one.  Any of the negative reviews I have ever read on this company appear to be from people who are more angry about the things that are outside any mortgage companies hands, such as the appraisal or rates going up a bit after their credit scores turn out to be not what they stated they were.

Or I'm sure it's certainly possible that these folks received bad service.   But our service was great, and the entire process went smoothly due to the timely updates we received from our Amerisave reps.  Both Thomas Kelly and Nona Taylor kept in touch with us through the entire process.

The rates were better than we received anywhere else.  We even cancelled another refinance application after we found the rates Amerisave were offering.  It seemed too good to be true.  I still wouldn't believe it if it weren't for the fact that I signed the paperwork last night.

To give you an explanation of how good the rates are, we refinanced both pieces of our previous 30 year 80/20 loan after only 3 years into one 15 year loan and our monthly payment on our 15 year loan will now be cheaper than the 30 year.  I should point out, this factors in extra money we were paying on the smaller portion of the loan.  If this weren't the case our new loan would be only slightly higher than our old one.

The settlement attorney came directly to our house last night and the closing couldn't have been any easier.  I would strongly recommend Amerisave to anyone looking to refinance.

I was looking to refinance to consolidate my rental home mortgage and HELOC.  Amerisave had the best rates for any type of loan that I could want.  I submitted an application, but didn't lock on a rate.  Karen Shumski, one of the reps there, repeatedly called me once every other day to see if I was ready to lock, even though on my app I had ask that I not be contacted.  Anyways, once I locked, I had to get an appraisal.  Everything hinged on the appraisal, as it determined how much I could actually take out.  I informed Ms. Shumski that we had concerns about the loan going through, but suddenly, Ms. Shumski was hard to track down.  She didn't return my calls.  She didn't return my emails.  For someone that is banking on a loan going through, you'd think that you would try to do everything possible to help it along.  I saw none of that from Ms. Shumski.

I think if you're not in a situation where everything is banking on your appraisal, then Amerisave may save you a lot of money.  If you're in the same boat as I was, then using Amerisave will just cost you time and money.  Customer service sucks, once they have you locked in.

I had financed my house through this company two years ago and their business practice is purely unethical!

Rates were dropping as we were near our closing date.  I asked for a rate drop as stated on their website we were allowed to do.  I called and I emailed with no response from anyone.  Finally the week before, I get a cowardly email saying I have to close the loan on the closing date or else.  Still no word of whether they would drop my rate or not.  I called and left several more phone messages and no response.  Only after I signed all the documents that they cowardly replied through email that because of the lender, they cannot drop the rates (even though its a policy on their website that they can).  What a load of horse crap!

I would not recommend them, I successfully refinanced my loan with http://Americaninterba... a year later.  I would also recommend http://aimloan.com

so far a great experience.  very nice with the personalized website with the progress of our loan.   did not want to correct a major error of the appraiser until we showed them the proper numbers.  if my wife had not been in real estate profession we would not have been able to get the loan and correct the appraiser.  other than that a great job.

update.  absolutely terrible service at end of process.  we even cancelled signing the loan the night of our signing the papers due to the massive changes they tried to sneak in on us.  they even called and yelled at my wife on the phone.  amazing they are in business still.

THESE GUYS ARE HORRIBLE! Look several of the following [glowing] reviews. The copy is directly pulled from the Amerisave website. Huh, I wonder why these folks have only written ONE review . . . of Amerisave. It's probably because they are ALL Amerisave employees. I have seen this on numerous review / epinion websites. Amerisave agents writing reviews of their own company. They need to do this because they SUCK! I got a quote from one of their brokers and locked the rate, as it was so good. Then, when I got the good-faith estimate, the closing costs were $2000 higher than the guaranteed "sure-fee" that they had quoted me at locking. Then, they had the nerve to try to charge me a "lock cancellation fee" even AFTER they had completely changed the terms of the loan. What a bunch of shysters! Unbelievable! After consulting with my attorney and threatening legal action as well as a complaint to the NC commissioner of banks, I finally got them to back off. Do business with these jokers at your own peril. Oh, better yet: find a local broker that you can meet face to face. Several local brokers beat the pants off of Amerisave, and I was able to have a face-to-face relationship with them. So much better! I won't mention the name of the broker here, because I'm sure that the poor fool is just a cog in the pyramid-scheme machine that is Amerisave. Hope he finds another job where he can earn an honest living.
