Visited Amerigo today for a business lunch, and I gotta say it's been awhile.
I have this preconception that Italian places are all pasta... and trying not to eat the carbs with the cream sauce and the cheese and the bread... (sorry, I digressed a little)... have been sort of avoiding them as a rule of thumb.

One of my companions began talking about how terrific their salmon was.  I thought "Salmon?  At Amerigo's?"  But since she raved so much, I decided to try it.  (Oddly, she and the other women at my table did not try it.  Their loss!)

The fish was a plump, juicy generous portion grilled nicely and served atop a black bean salsa.  If you're thinking spicy black bean salsa - no, that's not it.  It's a fresh salsa, had corn, onions, cillantro I believe, and a mild vinegarette type base holding it all together.  Quite tasty.  Also served with green beans that were a tiny bit al dente, but I kind of expected that.  Wouldn't you?

So yes - salmon at an Italian place.

The real award winner was the dessert we all shared - the Pecan Butter Crunch Cake.  Oh my goodness.  I hadn't paid much attention because someone else at the table picked which one we should share while I was distracted.  Sooo good.  It's a cake, but an extremely-moist-almost-to-the-point-of-a-pudding cake.  Lots of nuts, diced up apples that were not tart at all, and a large scoop of vanilla ice cream rounding things out. Really, sooooo good.

It's not at all that often that I leave a restaurant (often that my absolute fave stand-bys) and think to myself, "I would order that exact meal again."  But, I would order that exact meal again.  The healthy salmon entree makes you feel slightly less guilty about the dessert, it's a nice combo.

The others at my table had good looking salads (I've had those before), and one had a wrap with soup.  Our only (small) complaint from the table was the wrap girl had requested no olives in the sandwich, and it was chock full of olives.  Otherwise, our server was quite good.

Their bread is always nice with the infused rosemary and oil for dipping, today was no exception.  We parked on the street right in front of the place... only paid $1 for the meter.  I realize the lot behind would have been free, but when have the chance for a front door parking place, how can you not spring for four quarters?

I've been to this Amerigo location twice, and both times I've had very positive experiences. The first time I went to get dessert, which was delicious. I believe I had tiramisu, and my sister had butter pecan crunch cake, and is obsessed. We had a super nice server, which made it that much more enjoyable. They accidentally brought out gelato with it (which tasted amazing), so they offered to change it and comp it. We said they didn't have to comp it or bring out vanilla ice cream, because it tasted amazing, like I said.
The second time I went there I got their bolognese, which was sooo good. I split it with my sister, who got the fettucini alfredo. The bolognese had almost a cinnamon-y, clove taste to it? I don't know what they put in that stuff, but it's delish.
If you're looking for  a small, local vibe, this isn't your restaurant. The interior definitely has that "chain" flair to it.
I definitely recommend it, though. Reasonably priced, good food. I know I'll be back at some point or another!

I'll preface this review with saying I don't go out for 'Italian' food much because paying $10+ for pasta = retarded in my book. I make mean sauce(s) and honestly, store bought .99 cent publix box noodles don't taste much different than schmancy handmade noodles to me.

All restaurant pasta hatred aside, I really dig Amerigos. I generally order something like the divinely fluffy polenta or a nice ratatouille or something a little more culinarily difficult to create at home, but I have sampled the pasta of my friends and I'll admit it. Okay, they do slightly better than I can do ;)

Lets also talk about the bread and oil they serve, its simple but I think its the best free bread in a restaurant in town. (Not free biscuits and/or cornbread, thats totally different!)

I think what really makes Amerigo's stand out is the large amount of choices on the menu. Usually when there are a lot of things to choose from quality suffers greatly, not so here! I mean, obviously I haven't tried everything on the menu. (I'm chubby but not THAT chubby) But the goat cheese salad, the yummy chicken, the veggie polenta dish and yes, the simple ravioli's and pasta dishes - I've never been disappointed here.

Price points are fair and one of my favorite aspects of Amerigo is actually the atmosphere. You cant go wrong. You feel appropriate in jeans and also dressed up before a show or charity event. The servers are always friendly and timely and can accommodate a large family or date night.

An italian winna' when I'm in the mood for that sort of dinna'!

My first time at Amerigo was a great experience.  My wife were on an anniversary date and had the fortune of being near a quieter part of the restaurant (by a wall).  The service was great, patient while we took our time to enjoy our special evening.  Food was excellent, Tiramasu and cappucino topped a great time.

This is a seesaw review. I feel like I am sitting on a fence of sorts.

Here are the pluses of Amerigo:
    1. Service: The service here can be equated to fine dining.
    2. Wine list and unique drafts; They have an impressive wine list and feature drafts that are not available in your average Nashville establishment.
    3. Seating (lots of it and private dining rooms): I really like the private rooms and nooks where you can enjoy your privacy.
    4. Presentation and ambiance: Very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The music is just right so that it drowns out those around you but you do not have to yell to be heard. Very clean and classy.
    5. Appetizers: We had the cheese fritters (OMG - think of a meatball sized cheesy fried goodness) and mussels (cooked well, lots of broth and bread).

    Here is a negative:
    1. Food (entree)

Let me explain. Coming from a very Italian family, I have certain standards for dishes. And, as a connoisseur of good food and wine, I have to say the previous is disappointing.

I had the PASTA DI MARE fresh fish, scallops, mussels and shrimp with
caramelized onions, mixed vegetables and Gemelli pasta in a light seafood broth.

The seafood was fantastically cooked. I was very satisfied with the perfect tenderness of all four items. However, the pasta was overcooked (rather soft and falling apart, the vegetables were still crunchy - a weird combo with the soft pasta - and there was virtually no broth. I understand it says light. But, Pasta Di Mare specifically relates to seafood in broth. It was even difficult to wet a single piece of bread. I did read the reviews on this prior to arriving but wanted to formulate my own opinion.

Overall, I will give Amerigo another try. I would like to give this review 3.5 stars and will update this review upon my next visit. I feel that other menu items will be more satisfying and plus they have pizza. Which, I have to try!

    Hot Chicken Alfredo.  Boom.  Done.

I've been a fan of Amerigo since my high school prom date took me in 1990-something.  "Dude!  They have Scope in the bathroom!"...to this day it is one of my favorite date night spots...and they still have mouthwash in the water closet so you can freshen up after garlicky delights.

Okay, there is a lot more tasty offerings, but that Hot Chicken pasta is freaking awesome.  I reeeally don't want to know the nutrition information on it, but it is worth the occasional splurge or extra time on the elliptical.  I'm also a fan of the Chicken Margarite with scallion cream sauce.  One of our last date nights, my boyfriend ordered the Osso Bucco.  I tried a bite and was almost in tears, it tasted exactly like my late Grandmother's Sunday roast...a flavor I haven't enjoyed in almost 20 years.  Brunch is also excellent.  I cannot resist big buttery croissants with Nutella.

Service has always been great.  On a particularly chilly night, they even had a guy driving diners to/from the parking lot in a golf cart.

Came here for dinner on New Years' Day and it was a pretty quiet night. My friend and his wife were already seated when we got there so we were already playing catch up. Our server came back and ran through the specials of the day or 'features' as he called them and I went with the steak and bacon wrapped scallops-not exactly the most Italian thing on the menu but I was hungry and it was what I wanted. The gf got the wild mushroom ravioli while we all split the calamari appetizer.

The calamari was a pretty good one, not overly done but far too little. I forgot whether we got a large order or a small order but it's too small.

I really liked their feature that I ordered, so much so that I just focused on it and didn't taste of everyone else's plate like I usually do. I tried to balance out the steak with the two scallops that came with-they were pretty big though so no complaints, enough to go around and by around I mean enough for it to go around for me and my steak. I don't think he mentioned the risotto that came with it, but it was a big heaping scoop of it with a rich, cheesy flavor to it.

Our server was pretty good, he came by pretty frequently before I arrived as my friends said but I think waiting and waiting for a late group kind of took a toll. He did come back with everything we asked of him when he came by though.

After my husband got over the baby strollers in the aisles and the men with hats on (we thought it was a little more upscale) we settled down to a very good dinner.  Salad excellent, scampi very good, tasty focaccia bread and prices were not bad.  Staff friendly and fod came hot, always a bonus.

I really like Amerigo. The service is great and consistent. The food is good.  We always get the cheese ball appetizers which will blow your mind.  I swear there is crack in the bread or wait maybe the oil. I probably could just eat the bread and the cheese balls and be very happy, but the salads and entrees are good.

This location is always slammed busy everyday of the week from 5:45pm-7:30pm. You will wait. You will probably get annoyed because a table of 14 just walked in. Make a reservation and be patient during those busy times. They have a very affordable lunch menu -- that also comes with bread! (hooray!)

I've noticed some reviews talk about it being bland or salty, and i can see that. Some of the dishes are somewhat plain. Try something different! They have their menu online!

Limited parking in a small lot around back, street/metered parking out front.

We often get carry out at Amerigo and they've never screwed up the meal.

It can get a bit loud in there at peak times, - and try the tiramisu with coffee. Its just heavenly!

We tried Amerigo three times in the past few weeks. We like the food quite a bit, but I'll let others review it.

Amerigo should be commended for setting the bar on how to deal with kids.

First, setting the kid's menu prices (and part of the adult menu) so low during the early evening is fantastic! Kids are people too (kinda), and I don't know where else to go to get such great quality for so little. They even (often) have leftovers. The paper tablecloths are great, as are the triangle crayons.

I know that there are nicer [read "haughtier"] restaurants in Nashville. The decor in Amerigo is not playland, and I'm thankful for that. They give families a place to go for great food without dumbing the kids down.

I have 5 kids (ages 2-9), and when we come in I appreciate that from the front desk to the table to the checkout, my kids are treated well. The staff treats them kindly and speaks to them kindly and smiles at them while they are talking. I mean to say, that the servers are treating my kids like they treat my wife and me.

In essence, we take them there because it's a great place to learn how to eat good meal like an adult.

Other restaurants and decors have their place. But I hope that we will continue to enjoy Amerigo as a staple for our "finer dining with the kids" place.

If you love my kids, you've got me.

I generally don't like to reveiw a place until I have been there a couple of times.  We dined at the Nashville location once & the Cool Springs location twice.  The atmosphere is nice at both & great for our date night out.  The staff has been excellent at both restaurants with great service.  We have always treid something different & have not been let down once.  The food has good flavor and is well portioned.  The veal, seafood & mushrooms have all been cooked corectly & enjoyable.  Often times restaurants fail to cook proteins correctly.  The staff has also made good food wine pairing recomendations with our menu selections.
We will definately dine at one of these locations again.

I have been here 20+ times over the years both by myself and in larger groups.  I have always had a great experience and really enjoy their food.  They have a diverse menu with plenty of options for everyone's taste (pasta, steak, seafood, & pizzas.  I almost always get the Cedar Roasted Fish of the Day which is amazing.  Fish cooked and served on a cedar shingle with veggies and mashed.

Only downside I can think of is that they pack the main dining pretty tight, tables are very close together.

Get on their mailing list - they have great specials and wine events.

This is also one of my staples for dinner when I don't know what else to get. In my top two for Italian eats in Nashville (with Cafe Nonna).

Chicken Piccata is so good here. As is the 3 Cheese tortellini with crab.

If you are daring, get the hot chicken with alfredo.

Service is always very good, and they have Gerst beer, which is a Yazoo brew only served in 2 other spots in the city.

Their head chef used to be the sous chef at Zolo's, so they also have Farm nights once a month where he will get whatever is fresh from a local farm and do work.

    Great spot!

This place was recommended by hotel staff and it was within walking distance.  I had Layered Eggplant Casseruola with fresh tomatoes, basil,
mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, finished with basil pesto oil.
Served with sautéed mushrooms and spinach.  A Cheese fritter appetizer and a  side salad.  The Eggplant was tasty but not spectacular.  The Cheese Fritters were interesting.  Service was good.  All in all it was an ok meal.  I  didn't feel like the meal match what I paid.  I would not rush back.

Amerigo was an good choice for Italian here in Nashville, but I had some issues.  On the good side, we got some choice on-street parking, were seated right away on a Saturday night, and the portion sizes were very generous.  The pomodoro was very tasty, as was the lasagne.  Especially nice was that the ragu used on the lasagne was fresh, obviously made on the property, but warning, it is spicy !  Service was great and their bread with olive oil and spices was a nice treat.

So on the down side.  The goat cheese walnut salad was nice but the dressing was as thick as motor oil - I don't know if it was just that fresh and had not sat long enough to lose the froth or what, but it was not appetizing to pour that on a salad.  Second issue: caprese stack is not a caprese in my opinion.  Just a couple slices of mozz between these giant slices of tomato with onions and sprinkles of basil.  No flavor.  Could be I am spoiled - see my review of Il Bel Lago.

I am hard to please when it comes to restaurants. I have been to Amerigo's about 3 years ago and had a less than memorable experience. On a date night with my guy last Friday, though that changed. We made reservations at Amerigo's after receiving a Groupon that day. When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted by the host and immediately taken to our seat. Our server was a very nice young man by the name of Sam (I think). He was very patient as we were indecisive over our dinner choices. I decided on the Filet w/ Gorgonzola and my BF decided on the Chicken Tuscany. The filet was AMAZING and perfectly cooked. The potatoes that came with it were just OK, but the steak was so great that I didn't care. The Chicken Tuscany was very well prepared and the angel hair pasta perfectly cooked. We both raved about our food as we gobbled it down.

I'd definitely recommend anyone to go here in the future. Not sure what happened on my last visit, but this visit definitely made up for it threefold! We will be going back soon :)

First night in Nashville my friend and I were looking for a dinner restaurant  that was close to the hotel we were at and fancy-ish as we wanted to be able to get a bottle of wine to celebrate our reunion.
we yelped amerigo and based on the reviews and the price listings we thought this would be able to work.  granted, when Kyle told me about it i really thought we were going to some sort of "American Style" food place instead of an italian joint. Granted, to me this is american style italian, but they did a decent job.  i still need to teach kyle how to actually use this site though... burgers do not compare to tortellini.
we walked in without a reservation and only had to wait 10 minutes to get seated. however, there was a group in front of us that i got the impression had been waiting for quite a bit when one of the guys leaned over to the waitress and asked her if "this is the kind of place you need to make a reservation to get into", i guess he felt a little out of place in his jeans and button up shirt, which he shouldn't.  to me, in my obvious nola bias, this was a place one could get away with jeans, nice shirt, and/or a comfy dress/ skirt. lord knows kyle and i weren't wearing anything special... i did see some full on seriously dressy clothing though, super short satin skirts and sports jackets and the like. i wold define it more as dressy casual than dressy.  the decor was like an upscale applebees to me, but a bit more intimate.
the wait staff were all very nice, i think they were a little surprised by how much fun kyle and i were having together. this place is obviously a date night place and that we were laughing and not flirting and interested more in jabbering at one another, even inviting them into our conversation seemed to throw them off a little.  also that we weren't extremely picky over every little thing seemed surprising, but they did their jobs and they did them well and they even cracked a more than polite smile at several of our comments.
as for the food and wine.... well, we paid $36 for a bottle of "Woop, Woop" wine that we found in the wine store the next day for $14, but we knew we would be overpaying, this was, after all a restaurant, with the atmosphere of ... well... you'll pay out the nose for the soft lighting and bench seating. the food was pretty decent, the cheese fritters were tasty, basically just a round friend cheese stick, but def had more flavor than that. i was totally down with the red sauce they served with it, but the other half of the sauce on the plate was a honey mustard concoction that just didn't hit my pallet right. we then ordered the spring salad, which was decent, the lettuce was fresh and the housemaid vinagrette was pretty tasty, it's a recipe i would be happy to get my hands on. They did do one of my favorite things on the planet which was to bring us out a plate of cibatta bread with the olive oil and vinegar and spices, i'm old school italian man, that just speaks to my heart.... so i instantly started to commit carbocide as soon as that was out on the table. as for our entress....i was a little too toasty from the wine at that point to remember exactly but i think kyle got the chicken margaritte (mostly because he was afraid to mispronounce anything else... the man can click away in senagalese but he was too freaked out to try to pronounce italian... tsk tsk) which he seemed to enjoy, there were no complaints, but he couldn't finish it all and mostly just left the pasta at the end. i had the tortellini with spinach and crab and white sauce.  i really have to admit to being disappointed by the lack of spinach, but i am a spinach lover and i guess when you're catering to a large clientel like that you don't necessarily want to throw more than a few springs in there....maybe.....  however, there was a TON of crab meat on the plate and the portion size was huge. sauce was tasty, nothing that i can absolutely rave about, but it was good. i didn't actually end up finishing anywhere near half the plate from everything else i had ordered, and ended up accidentally leaving the boxes at the table in our determined search for wine, so i didn't even get to give it the cold tortellini test (which i always do because yes... i am that person that likes leftover cold tortellini... and pizza... and sushi).
prices varied from a  reasonable $14.00 for my entree to a whopping $32 for the filet (which is what i pay for a filet in nola in an EXPENSIVE restaurant).  i didn't look at the bar menu, but the cheapest bottle of wine started at over $25 and house wine is only sold by the glass.  we didn't get desert either just because of how stuffed we were.  so plenty of food for the price in what we ordered.
overall i give this place a decent night out.  it wasn't spectacular, but i am food spoiled so it takes a lot to impress me, but it was in NO way as bad as i thought it might be on our first walk in the door.  its worth a try if you're ever near by.

I LOVE Amerigo! Their food is outstanding and their service is unbeatable. I worked at Amerigo as a hostess for a year before I moved away from Tennessee and as a former employee, I can tell you this is a restaurant that has integrity and genuinely cares about its patrons.

I moved 3 years ago but every time I go back to TN I HAVE to go to Amerigo! Everything on the menu is GREAT but I usually get the Chicken Ravioli or the Mediterranean Salad. The tortellini is also really scrumptious and everyone knows the bread they serve with every meal is the best in Nashville!

I am proud to be a former employee of such a fantastic establishment and I would recommend it to anyone living in or visiting Nashy!

While there is nothing truly unique or special about Amerigo in either its menu or ambience, I have found it to be a consistenly delicious and comfortable dining experience. (OK maybe that is unique in itself!)

The service is helpful and friendly, although a couple of times on a weekend night we have found ourselves waiting an unusually long time before the waiter came over to take our drink order. No big deal.

I have never had a bad meal here. We always start with the artichoke cheese dip. It's incredibly cheesy, indulgent, and sinfully rich! It's hard not to overdo it, so I always have to remind myself to save room for the entree! I have had several of the pasta dishes and they were all good, but since I discovered the Chicken Margarite with garlic butter sauce and added mushrooms, I've never looked back. Kiss your diet good-bye on this one. Tender angel hair topped with perfectly grilled chicken and sauteed mixed mushrooms, all swimming in butter sauce with just the right amount of garlic, aaah! Worth every calorie, in my book! The only dish my bf has not cared for was the Lasagna. He thought it was a little dry and didn't care for the sauce. He still ate it, but sticks to Alfredo or Margarite now.

Amerigo is not going to win any awards for originality, and it may not be upscale or "gourmet", but it is reasonably priced, has a classier atmosphere than your average fern bar, and the food is better than most Italian restaurants I have been to.

My husband & I came here on his last night in town before shipping to boot camp. We wanted something Italian and I require gluten free. Amerigo fit the bill. We previewed the menu online before going since many restaurants claim to be "Gluten Free" but offer one or two options. This was not the case with Amerigo. They had gluten free pasta as well as a variety of other dishes, salads and appetizers available to those of us who cannot tolerate the evil that is gluten.

We started with a GF Ceaser salad and found it to be delicious, though a little heavy-handed with the parmesean. Hubby ordered the shrimp bisque and I sneaked a bite (NOT GF)- delicious with a sprinkle of freshly ground pepper.

Hubs got the Rosemary Gorgonzola Filet with potatoes and asparagus and it was AMAZING. Everything on his plate was good, I found myself eating more of his dish than I did of mine.

I got the GF chicken Picatta with pasta- comes with sauce, mushies, capers and lump crab. It was good but I just couldn't get enough of hubby's dish! The foccacia bread was served warm with olive oil for dipping and I can report that also is yummy.

Would definitely go back if I had the opportunity. The price was reasonable, we paid $60 before tip for two entrees, shared salad and a bowl of soup. Service was great- everything was on time, served hot, and pleasant interactions with all servers.

Ooh, I like this place.  I did not think I was going to as I had a couple of work-related meh experiences a few years back involving an ok pizza and some pasta that was not spectacular, but last night Amerigos grabbed my tongue and assaulted me with flavor.

We (me and the wife) started with the goat cheese and walnut salad which at first was ok but at spots was worth writing a small poem about. They split an order in two for us, which was quite nice of them.

The bread and olive oil they left on the table for us was really good, it's a rare time when I feel that the olive oil/bread combo is actually drool-worthy, but this was such a time.  I could have eaten nothing but bread and olive oil at this place and been happy.

We had some of the house merlot, which was pretty good, on seconds I was considering a chianti they had but was not sure about, they let me sample it which was quite nice of them.  I didn't go for it, opting instead for some more of the house merlot.

Our main courses arrived, mine being an eggplant parmesan and hers being what I think was a vegetarian version of the Tuscan crab cakes, but I cannot recall.  Both were delicious.

The eggplant parmesan was served drenched in pasta sauce that I still am thinking about, it was on top of a bed of angel-hair pasta that I believe was in some sort of butter saurce of its own, but I could be mistaken.  The flavor mugged my already assaulted tongue and was delightful.  I have no idea how they got the sauce that good.

The vegetarian crab cake style concoction was good I am told... I had some of it but do not really remember as my food was just screaming for me to savor it...

We finished the meal off with a pecan butter crunch cake.  Nothing is as disappointing on a desert as plain Jane ice cream, and we were not disappointed.  I do not know how to describe the perfection of this desert.  Let's leave it at it was probably the best restaurant desert I have ever had.

Follow this up with a very good customer service experience when the Android version of Groupon did not function as the iPhone version did (Groupon had been inaccessible all day so we could not print the page out, but the app was working).  A manager came out, took down the barcode/number, and told us the business model of Groupon etc, which was actually pretty darn neat.

Had a great experience, was treated very nicely even though I felt I was severely under-dressed for the place.  Left in nearly a food coma

Went to Amerigo for the first time in several years last night. There was no wait, which was nice. Our waiter was friendly and efficient and the food was really good. I got the Chicken Margarite with the garlic butter sauce. It was so yummy and probably made with 14sticks of butter. The bread is better than Maggianos but still not as good as Macaroni Grille's.

Came to Amerigo based on reviews and desire for Italian.  We came early (5:45) and was pleased to find they have an early bird menu.  We didn't use it, but for the cost conscious, nice to know. Lately, I've been evaluating italian places by their seafood pasta (Pasta De Mare).  My wife had the Mahi mahi special and my daughter, the muscles.  We also had ceasar salad and carrot soup (SOTD).
The Ceasar was a tush over dressed and a tish garlic heavy.  Still, flavorful and I like that it was "side salad" sized rather than monstrous.  Great review in the Soup Of The Day (carrot).  Fresh from the oven foccacia bread was a good add as well.
Seafood Pasta varied widely and often is done with a heavy hand when it should be a delicate dish.  My favorite of all time was found in Melbourne Australia, a town that knows seafood.  I was enticed with Amerigo's as it included both fish and shellfish. The addition of Italian Sausage was a puzzle given it's in a light broth.
At first glance, it's hard to tell what to think beyond relatively large "squiggles" of pasta seeming to dominate the dish rather than a more elegant linguini.  Upon inspection, there ate good Perkins of fish, muscles, scallops, and shrimp.  A little hard to see as the bland color co
Es together as a mass.  There is also the Italian Sausage Nd Green and Red Peppers (am I looking at 2 Dishes???)
A nice brith sits at the bottom with a subtle sense of broth, garlic and...either thyme or rosemary.  The clumps of pasta dominate the dish as I had feared and are a bit over cooked.  Generally, the dish is under seasoned with bland fish and scallops that have lost their sweetness and have taken on a slight taste of... Green pepper (and a bit sandy in one case)?  The broth is good, as are the muscles and shrimp (perfectly cooked).
Overall, the dish is not a winner, but again, I picked a tough one to begin with.  As for the others, the special Mahi was special and my daughters muscles were very good.
The service was exceptional and the price was fair.
Overall a good experience and I'd cone back and order something more mainstream.  The other dishes around me looked great and i can see this being a semi-favorite place to visit.

Went on a busy, busy Friday night and the wait was over 1 hr for a table for two!  But other than the fact that I wasn't smart enough to get a reservation in advance, I have no complaints.  I ordered the cannelloni and my girlfriend ordered a vermicelli dish.  I thought mine was to die for and hers was just a little above average.  Also, I liked the bread that was served before dinner, simple but delicious.

Pros:  Good pasta, nice atmosphere, great staff.
    Cons:  Pricey drinks, long wait without a reservation;

Check it out (with a reservation).  I'll be back after I try a few more of Nashville's many restaurants.

I really like Amerigo's! Great atmosphere and good location. Parking was not a problem.

I cant write much of a review about the food, because I didn't eat anything. I just went to meet up with some friends to drink and watch the Predators game.

The cheese balls looked awesome and the peanut butter cake looked really delicious. Next time I go, I am planning on eating there, and not just drinking.

I'll keep you posted on what I have.

I ate here twice: the first time the pasta di mare had so much hot-pepper flakes and pepper, I had a heartburn all night. After tasting the actual mussels and scallops and clams, I realized the reason why it was so spicy: to hide the fact the 'frutti di mare' were so bad!

Decided to give them a second chance an went for lunch, after peak hour, a handful of table only. It took 15 minutes to the lasagna to show up and it was cold in the middle!!!! I returned it and set for a salad instead.

My first experience with Amerigo was at the Hot Chicken Festival this past July.  Several restaurants had huge lines, while this place had no line at all.  I soon found out why - their contribution to the Hot Chicken Festival was a Hot Chicken Alfredo pasta dish.  Now, don't get me wrong, I love hot chicken, and I love pasta, and if it's done well, I love things Alfredo, but who the hell thought that was a good dish to serve in the blazing July sun?

Fast forward 3 months....my boyfriend wanted to take me somewhere where I could get some serious carbs on since it was my birthday.  He offered the suggestion of either Valentino's or Amerigo. Since I'm fairly new to this area, I had to check a few things out.  Valentino's looks all nice and romantic - but then it hit me.  Wait, wasn't Amerigo the place that had the hot chicken pasta thingie?  After a quick menu check, I saw that indeed, it was a regular menu item. Hmmm....romance or hot chicken......romance or hot chicken......

Romance be damned I say - bring on the hot chicken!

When we got there (around 7pm on a Thursday night) it was pretty crowded but we didn't have any wait at all.  The woman who seated us, Erica,  also said she'd be waiting on us.  She was very professional, but also very personable.  Took our drink orders and delivered them promptly.  Also brought some yummy, still warm from the oven bread with olive oil for dipping.  The bread was interesting - I swear it has a lemony taste to it, but it was good nonetheless.  It wasn't lemony like I just sucked on some lemon fresh Joy lemony.

We ordered a caprese salad to split - it was good, though not outstanding.  The tomatoes were a bit blah.  But hey, copious amounts of mozzarella cheese can make anything better.  For entrees we went with - surprise! - the hot chicken dishes.  I went for the hot chicken pasta alfredo and my boyfriend went for the hot chicken pizza.  Erica said the alfredo dish was a favorite of the employees.  I told her about how I was at the Hot Chicken Festival and we laughed over how that was an epic fail.

The dishes came out and wow, we were in hot chicken goodness.  Ok, let me just say - this was like hot chicken light.  Nowhere near as hot as Prince's but tasty nonetheless.  The pizza was a thin crust - no sauce, just mascarpone cheese, mozzarella, green onions, and hot chicken.

But the star of the table was definitely the hot chicken pasta alfredo.  There were 7-8 small tenders on a bed of fettuccine alfredo.  The smell of this dish was just mouth wateringly good.  As with the pizza, there was also a small amount of sliced green onions in the dish and I found they really enhanced it.  The chicken was good (though not as hot as I expected) and the fettuccine alfredo was really good.

We debated getting dessert and at first I said no - after all, there was birthday cake waiting at home.  But damn, that tiramisu with the Kahlua chocolate sauce was taunting me.  Ah, screw it, I'm now 39 - I can have dessert with supper and have cake at home lol.  I will say, this was the most rich tiramisu I've ever had.  Super rich.  Almost too rich.  Almost ;)

I normally hate going out to eat at Italian restaurants because my thought is well, heck, I can make something better than this for less.  I will say for the money we spent I felt like we got good value.  The food was great, the service great, and I'd go back in a heartbeat.  Just an FYI - it was pretty loud in there.  Probably nowhere near as romantic as Valentino's - but, I had a great meal with the one I love - that's romantic in my book :)

I don't know what it was about this place but we were not impressed.

I got the salmon which was good, but then the veggies and potatoes were roasted on the cedar plank along side the fish.  It was one smokey mess.

The hubs got the salmon pizza with capers.  I dont know what they were thinking putting it on the menu or what he was thinking ordering it.  It was gross.  Tasted like a salty caperish mess.  This pizza needed diced tomatoes...or something to cut the salt.

I/m giving it three stars because I think it has potential and we ordered the wrong things,  I want to like Amerigo.

Ate here last night for the first time in about 15 years because we saw that they had a gluten free menu.  Food was excellent, service was great and prices were very reasonable.  Very happy we chose this place.  Will definitely go back again.

I grew up going to this place during my summer visits to Nashville growing up, and though their menu used to be much larger, they are still very good. Hands down they blow both Spaggetti Warehouse/Factory and Olive Garden out of the water, as the quality of their food is top notch.

My only complaint is they have condensed their menu quite a bit since I first went to eat here, but what they still serve is very good.

They do; however, last I knew, offer an early bird special during part of the week where some of their menu items are available at a reduced price till a certain time (I think 6 PM).

Gah, I love this place... the lunch time menu cannot be beat.  No hip waiters or ambiance, just some good ass noodles, bread, and salad. I like sitting at the bar, getting in and out, and ordering just what I previously mentioned: good ass noodles (alfredo on angel hair) and salad (Caesar).  Everyone's nice, quick, and their menu is priced well.  My lunch set me back $10 plus tip, and I didn't finish it.... well I'm about to now however. Might I add their take out is excellent as well.  Packaged conveniently and quick.

As Michelle M. stated, there is not really anything particularly unique about this venue.  But the quality of food is consistent, the ambience is stylish and clean, and the service is reliable.  Their efforts to change up the menu in order to keep things fresh is a point of contention for me, however.  I highly favored the spicy gnocchi, and was disheartened to find that it had been removed from the menu.  I have yet to find a suitable replacement.

Though you may have to wait a bit to be seated, rest assured you will do so in comfort - plush leather chairs and benches are provided.  Likewise, the bar is well-stocked and eager to please.

My meal was tasty, but wife had to send hers back as she could hardly eat it. The manager was excellent and brought her a new meal within minutes and apologized. I have had better Italian in town but if you are looking for something a bit different then traditional Italian then give it a try.

Found this place on Yelp (yay!) while staying at the Hampton Inn across the street. Went here for lunch my first day in town.

I got the insalate spinaci: Baby Spinach with domestic prosciutto, house-made ricotta, candied pecans, strawberries and white balsamic vinaigrette. Added chicken breast as well. It was awesome. I especially loved the candied pecans - would order a few extra of those next time.

The salad was enormous, and after I was done it looked like I'd barely made a dent, but I was stuffed. I'd definitely go here again in the future.

Why is the food so salty? The salmon and the spinach/mushroom vegetable mix both had way too much salt.  The bread pudding was dry, dry, dry and at $7, overpriced.

On the bright side, our waiter provided good service and gave us a good wine recommendation.
