Review from Jeremy E.
This is a review for their Chef's Dinner that they have once a month.
It was a 5 course meal with drink pairings. One of the better meals I have had in Nashville, or anywhere for that matter. Expertly done.
First course was a soup of Jerusalem artichoke. Absolutely delicious. It was garnished with yukon gold potatoes and caramelized wild mushrooms. Very unique flavor and it went well with the paired cocktail.
Second course was a winter salad. Not bad, not great. It was red and yellow beets with blood orange and a lime vinaigrette.
Third course was a trout dish with roasted cauliflower. I do not like fish, but I absolutely loved this dish. Pan seared trout with buerre blanc sauce provided a hint of sweetness, to go with the buttery goodness.
Fourth course was my favorite! Roasted lamb shoulder with polenta and asparagus. The lamb shoulder was almost like a sausage without the casing. The flavor was robust. Had a hint of game flavor, and was cooked perfectly.
Dessert was an Olive and Sinclair chocolate mascarpone. Great way to finish the meal. Sweet, flaky and light.
They also had a Sierra Nevada estate beer which was fantastic. Estate beer is the new thing with brewers, and I am sure we will be seeing more of them in the future.
Great job!Listed in: Franklin/Brentwood

Review from Nickie G.
I don't typically choose Italian restaurants when I go out and I definitely don't go out to Brentwood very often. But I had a work dinner to attend and Amerigo was the place. Man, I should be frequenting this place!
First off, the atmosphere is very nice - dark, upscale but not too fancy pants. They have private rooms at this one so you can reserve the room for your group dining needs.
On to the food. The menu is extensive and includes many Italian classics and other items that aren't so you are sure to find something to please everyone. For appetizers I tried...
Cheese fritters - blended cheeses with tomato sauce and honey mustard fried into a ball. Like an upgraded cheese stick but in ball form. I love fried balls! These were amazingly good.
Artichoke cheese dip - This dip was some of the best artichoke dip anywhere. I could have had this as my entree.
Calamari - good, standard
Bruschetta - good, standard
On to the entree. I got the ham hock osso bucco served with Parmesan polenta and seasonal greens which turned out to be turnip greens (or similar). DAYUM people, this is the entree. The ham was melt in your mouth good and naturally the bones were there for you to dig out the marrow if you want. The polenta was also excellent. And I freakin' love greens. I want this over and over again.
We also shared a dessert. Get the pecan butter crunch cake with ice cream and apple cinnamon glaze. OH MY GAWWWD. Rich, buttery, sugary, delicious. Paula Deen would be proud because I think a vat of butter went into this. It was the type of dessert that you want to devour even though you have no room for any more food. Thank goodness we were sharing because I would have forced myself to eat it all otherwise. AH-MAZ-ING.
Honestly, I should have given Amerigo a chance before now because I was thoroughly impressed. Go here now!!Listed in: Private Party Rooms -…

We had an excellent dining experience. The place is just a little dark but otherwise a really nice atmosphere. We were seated on time & everybody was friendly. The service was excellent!
The food was terrific! The crab cake appetizer was superb. There were four of us & we had Lasagna( excellent ), fettuccine Alfredo (very good),
Bolognese Pasta ( excellent, with a hint of all things Cinnamon) & an Eggplant ? Casserole ( also excellent).
Cheesecake was New York style & good.
The best Italian food around.
We will return!! -
Review from Tim G.
Our next trip to Amerigo's was much better. We did stick to pasta and pizza. Which as always was great. Our only problem with Amerigo has been when we have ordered non-pasta and pizza. I can't fault them for that, as it is an Italian Restaurant and they do Italian very well. However, it is not a seafood or steak place.

Great Sunday brunch options today. I opted for the lunch menu and ordered the grilled trout special with tomatoes and capers over asparagus and polenta. My wife went with an omelette stuffed with mushrooms and cheese. Both were outstanding, and we were quickly served despite arriving at 12:15 on Sunday.
Four stars because the portions were a mite small and the price was a little too much. -

So glad we decided to give this place a try! After a long day of Christmas shopping we were ready for a nice, quiet dinner. First, they take reservations and our table was ready when we arrived. Second, atmosphere was perfect. White table cloths, dark lighting, relatively quiet. Third, our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive and made great recommendations. Last but certainly not least, our food was excellent. From wine to appetizer to entree to dessert, everything was fantastic. The high points were definitely appetizer and dessert. We had the fried cheese balls which absolutely oozed yummyness. Then dessert...so glad I read some reviews before we came because thanks to Nickie G's enthusiasm, we tried the pecan butter crunch cake. It was ooey gooey melt in your mouth deliciousness. I can't wait to go back to Amerigo and eat again!

Not normally a pasta fan since I have a tendency to avoid eating entrees at fancy restaurants that i can easily make myself.
Amerigo's does a good job of bringing that special extra to its pasta dishes: fresh, very flavorful and generous proportions. Good variety of vegetarian vs meat dishes. Nice variety of appetizers and wine assortment.
Their bread is yum and so is their calamari appetizer.
Consistent food quality, overall friendly staff and service and a nice atmosphere that can support more formal corporate events, family dining or a nice date.
Keep in mind that Sunday lunch is always a line.
You can't go wrong with Amerigo's unless you are allergic to pasta. -

Food was pretty good. Only thing didn't understand was why every single dish was served with asparagus... Would have been nice to have some variety in sides offered!

Some friends brought me to Amerigo for a birthday lunch recently, and I loved this place! Service was quick and courteous, the food tasted fresh, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. On my first impression, I thought I was underdressed for the seemingly swanky restaurant, but as it turned out, I was just fine. Their lunch menu prices (I had pasta and salad) are on par with one you'd find at Red Lobster or somewhere similar. But Amerigo is nicer, and I can't wait to try it for dinner.

While this may be a silly, or pedestrian aspect to focus on, I really like it when restaurants provide quality bread for their customers. Amerigo's, in my opinion, has some of the best bread around. While shaped like a big biscuit, the surface is salted and oiled to perfection. They also provide a wonderful dipping oil for the bread that I really enjoy.
The lunch specials are very affordable, but when I have been here for dinner, I have left feeling that I could have done better elsewhere for the amount of money I spent. -

Lunch today: Soup and salad $7.00. To elaborate - a delicious tomato/basil soup with just the right consistency and a very nice flavor. Salad of fresh spinach, greens, grilled red peppers, onion and a touch of red cabbage with a nice balsamic vinagrette dressing.
I looked over the wine list for future reference, and they offer several nice choices. The dinner menu is varied, and I've heard the lasagne is worth the trip. The ambience is warm and inviting - probably a place I would prefer for dinner. And I will definitely give them a try for dinner next time I'm out this way. -

Intimate lighting in the evening, nice decor, nice napkins, utensils, etc.
Girlfriend ordered pasta with vegetables and tomato soup. Pasta was very oily, but that could have been how it was intended. Complimentary bread was decent, spaghetti with giant meatball was decent.
They offer beer tasting before purchasing which is nice.
The service was pretty good.
Overall, it is a nice place, decent food, but nothing to rave about. -

My family just went to Amerigo's last night for dinner. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Our server was extremely attentive and never let our drinks get empty. Our food was hot and delicious!!! We went early (at 4:30...we have a 2 year old) and the restaurant has a crazy inexpensive early bird menu from 4-6 daily. The crab cake is amazing . My husband had the pasta with sausage and he kept saying over and over how delicious it was. Fantastic experience!!! We will definitely go back soon!!!

Nice place for a date or family dinner. Low light ambiance with hard wood decor.
Service was respectable, but lacked better execution. Dinner was poorly timed and entrees came out way too quickly... I can't stand that. This was a slow night so you think they could have asked if we were ready for the entrees.
Specials sounded delicious, but I ordered the pasta, which was mediocre and nothing to write home about.
Soups were made on-site and delicious.
Look to spend about 35$ per person (including tip).
Servings were generally large.
Appetizers need a little more variety.
Wine list was weak, but house wine was surprisingly ok. -

I really love Amerigo in Cool Springs. It's probably one of my favorite places to eat on this side of town.
I started eating there with my parents, because they were/are way into the "early bird special" that goes until 5:45. I would get off work, run over there and have a nice drink and a light meal or a snack with them. My dad is an alfredo guy.. my mom loves anything done acuto.
Highlights - they have several appetizers that I love. The sausage app is way better than you would imagine it to be. Their soups are really lovely, too.
The grilled apple salad is fantastic. I usually order it with salmon, which is always cooked to perfection. They have a spinach and prosciutto salad with house made ricotta that is really nice. Love to get a side of polenta with their salads to make a good meal.
I am not a huge fan of their pastas, They have a new pasta de mare, though, that my sister ordered last week, and it was damn good. Perfectly al dente rigatoni. I had the new scallops entree and it was super delicious.
Never had dessert there... but the drinks are nice, and they'll give you samples of wines and beer.
The service ranges from stringent and cold to super-friendly and exceptional. -

Whenever we come home to Nashville through BNA, we look forward to a relaxing repast at Amerigo Cool Springs before the drive home to Giles County. We've been there as early as 5pm and as late as 9:30 and we've always been very pleased at both the quality of food and the level of service. The salmon over black-bean and corn salsa was a perfect dinner. Good portions and delicious.

Wonderful atmosphere and the calamari, while not the best I've had, was excellent. The wait staff is TOP NOTCH! Excellent value for the dollar.

I went here yesterday for a company lunch. We had a group of about 14 people, but that didn't intimidate our servers. The service was friendly and prompt in spite of our group's size. We ordered a few appetizers, but seeing as I have to eat gluten free, I couldn't partake. But the great news here is they have a gluten free menu! The gf menu has several salads and salad dressings on the list plus several entrees including gf pasta! I was so excited to see gf pasta on the list - it's just not that common. I ordered the Spaghetti Pomodoro and a house salad with Parmesan Peppercorn dressing. It was all very good. The pasta was perfectly al dente - and as anyone who has to eat gf pasta knows - overcooking gf pasta is very easy. Amerigo did it just right! The salad was also great. Because we were there at lunch I ordered the half pasta and half salad, and it was more than enough food. My only complaint? The sweet tea just isn't good. It's definitely not worth the calories. Next time I'll stick with diet coke.

Itialian restaurants usually don't excite me and this one is not really an exception. I'll go ahead and give Amerigo's four stars because it is a totally decent restaurant where the others in Cool Springs aren't much better than Fazoli's. The service is really good, the décor is nice and classy. The food is very serviceable. Better than the West End location.

Briefly - visited again on Sep. 22 - great service by a giggling fellow named Mark, who was attentive in the right way (and not too-too). We were pleased by the food, drinks and ambiance. Was being taken to dinner, I suggested the place, my dinner pal wanted a good martini, I was assured that would happen (she likes the traditional straight gin versions. She didn't appear to be disappointed & was impressed w/the serving approach). Our server offered me a generous taste of a wine I wanted to try, then didn't order it (glad for the taste). I took his recommendationn what to have w/my meal, which was perfect. My friend had the Chicken Marsala, loved it; I had a seafood stew-like dish (with too much pasta and overcooked shrimp), & ate almost all of it, b/c it was tasty (love good flavor)! Amerigo, you are a shining star in the land of too many chain restaurants, and this location especially. Keep up the great staff training, good cooking and fine overall experience you give the customers.

I'm going to tell you a little secret.. The best tiramisu in Nashville and Brentwood is at Amerigo. It's not like any you've tried. It comes with both a chocolate sauce and a vanilla sauce that taste purely homemade. It's worth the trip just for dessert. Get it with a cappuccino and you're in heaven.. I give it a five-star based on dessert.

me and my wife really enjoy Amerigos. One dish I love is the bow tie pasta. Bread is great. Creme Brule cheesecake is one of the best.
