This was my second time having America's Dog but first time at the Lincoln Park location.
I came here with a Groupon and got the Tucson Dog (Jalapeno hot dog with chorizo, jalapenos & melted cheese topped with crispy tortilla chips) along with a small order of curly fries. The Tucson Dog was a great twist on your ordinary hotdog and I loved it.
I do feel that the prices are a little high for hotdogs so I'll be keeping my eyes open for the next Groupon deal because I did really enjoy the food! -

If you are looking for a hot dog, this is the place to go as they have many different options when it comes to how to dress your dog. My personal fav would be the Milwaukee Dog which is a brat with kraut and mustard. They also have wheat buns for a healthier option.
Beyond dogs, they offer curly fries, and all sorts of wraps, some chicken sausages, and such.
It's affordable and check to see if they have a Groupon Now before you go. We did and we saved a few bucks! -

Their veggie dog is terrible, it tasted weird. I have had better veggies dogs out of box, never again will I get their veggie dog, it was disgusting and a waste of money.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Mmmm.... America's Dog. Been here twice - once downtown and once in Lincoln Park. I like the LP location better because its bigger with large windows open so we got to sit with a nice breeze. We came with a groupon - 2 hot dog deal. We both had the Tucson dogs - jalapeno hot dogs with cheese and tortilla strips. The first time we went we both had the Richmond Dogs which is a dog topped with mac n cheese and bacon. Both were really good but I liked the Tucson because I love spicy food! Their curly fries are really good. Place is pricey but they always have a groupon now or a deal going on. Not huge portions but a dog and fries does the job.

I purchased a Groupon a while ago that was for 2 jumbo dogs. I bought it bc they have veggie, and I wanted to try it. Luckily this LP locations opens till 3am so my friend and I drove up there. We both chose veggie, which was an extra cost plus some curly fries and mozarella sticks.
Everything was ok, but not anything special. We asked for no mustard, and still had it on our dogs. They also didn't give any ketchup for the fries.
I was full, but not satisfied.
It's great to go if you're drunk, considering the area and it's on a corner spot. But I wouldn't specifically go here as my number one choice. -
Review from Sadat A.
It's the best hotdog spot in Lincoln Park (Depaul Area) since the Demon Dog days. Don't get me wrong Nothing compares to Demon Dog (RIP) but it's the next best thing.
America's Dog has a killer location on Lincoln and Belden, but it sort of sucks when your looking for parking. Great if your on foot in the area.
Okay, so they name all of there hot dogs after cities, and when you think about each hot dog's toppings, it's very fitting. My girl and I tried the Baltimore dog ,Green Bay dog, the BBQ special Burger, and curly fries. Everything was super tasty and made perfectly.
It's no where near the best hot dog spots in the city but definitely one of the best in the Depaul area. -

The best part is the curly fries. The dogs are just okay. America's Dog has various toppings and regional specialties which make normal hotdogs somewhat exciting.
My major complaint is that I've felt nauseous after eating here... twice. I think that the food is just too heavy and greasy. Coming from me, that's serious! -
Review from Mike S.
I think I've found a new late-night guilty pleasure.
While my attempt to hit every hot dog joint in Lincoln Park up until now has yielded no chains, America's Dog gives strong consideration for two reasons.
First, unlike other places, they actually have pocket menus you can take home, which comes in handy because 2nd.) Their gimmick is to take hot dogs from all over the country, each prepared a different way, and name them after cities. It's total schtick, but I find myself wanting to go back and try them all. I had a Chicago (I can never resist) and a New Orleans, which is BBQ, Tomato, and carmelized onions. Who knows if this is actually how it's done in NOLA, but the result was delicious.
I can't believe I'm saying this because it's not like it's roast duck or anything, but the curly fries are also cooked exactly the way they should be. Big curly curls, not shriveled deep-fried potato shavings. I'll be back....late night. -

Veggie dog lovers unite!
The big to-do in Chicago as everyone knows as far as hot dogs are concerned is Hot Dougs. But, veggie dog lovers only have one option there...so my boyfriend & I make our way up to Lincoln Park to dine on America's Dog, who offer ANY dog on their menu as a veggie!
The place is always very clean with very fast service! A little on the pricey side but totally worth it. Plus curley fries? Yes, please.
I'll take America's dog over hot doug's any day.

Went here because Chicago's Dog House was closed that day, and someone on the street recommended this place, which was nearby, and I just had to have a hot dog that day!
Small place and the first thing I noticed is they don't have A/C!! Or maybe it was broken. I don't know. But it was hot that day!! In the lower 90's outside. But the service is great and friendly. We got a Chicago Dog, Dallas Dog, and a corn dog, and some curly fries. We got 1 more and I think it was the San Francisco. The one with cole slaw. All of the dogs were pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. I'll probably go again if I happen to be near one of their locations. -

We came for lunch with a groupon, and were lucky to find parking right in the front of the restaurant. The place has a big map of the states with different kinds of hot dogs, and pictures of the owner at many places. We ordered
SF dog - good, with everything on it. loved the chili and the celery salt.
special dog of the day - with chili and cheese on top.
curly fries - LOVE IT!
sweet potato fries - also good.
I thought the hot dog are normal dogs with different toppings. I do love the fact that the fries are curly fries! -
Review from Matt G.
Big deal.... it's a hot dog and you're pouring chili or some other topping over it. No char, no unique dog, nothing really worth busting my ass to get there to have another. Just seemed like a really commercial version of a hotdog stand. Not such a great deal either.

This is not a place where you can have a doll version of your own dog made. It's a restaurant, fool! and a good one!
Awesome veggie dogs! Any of their amazing hotdogs on the menu can be made with a veggie wiener. You may have to pull some ingredients to make it vegetarian, like bacon or chili, but when's the last time you had a real Chicago hotdog?
I had two NY style (brown mustard and sauerkraut). A little chewy, but delicious!
Nice outdoor eating area too. -

I normally go here before I volunteer. I don't suggest going here before a date.
I normally get the chili dog, and cheesy curly fries. The curly fries are a tad bit salty but everything else is pretty good. I have of course had better, but I'm not complaining. I would come here at least once a month if it were possible to.
so to review
try the chili dog. Its pretty good.
I believe they have Hi-C fruit punch on tap. sometimes When I am feeling a tad bit daring, I'll put half fruit punch and half something else. This is my way of "letting my hair down".

This place is okay. I went here because they had a Groupon and having been aware of this place for ages, I decided it was as good a reason as any to give it a try.
I had a Detroit dog, topped with chili, mustard and onions. The chili was adequate, I suppose. I wouldn't say it would fare well against Wendy's chili. Then again, I really like the chili at Wendy's.
I do give them a lot of credit for the idea of different hot dogs representing different cities. I just wasn't so impressed with the actual food.
It's not bad food by any means, but nothing worth noting. -

Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum. If you order the right treat.
Although the location is super convenient to my apartment, it takes a bit more to lure me into a place which a giant plastic hot dog outside. The fiances rave reviews tempted me, but what really did me in was the huge garage-style open windows. And the sign for the $3.99 Greek wrap. Deal, right? (Side note: only if you have cash. Otherwise, the stupid ATM terminal charges you an extra $3.50. Seriously, what business these days only takes cash?! I guess a place that sells hot dogs.)
The wrap was so yummy and healthy-feeling. Fresh tomatoes, feta cheese, grilled chicken (while I waited, none of this "already cooked" chicken in a container), hummus, and cucumbers. Seriously such a good wrap! My fiance had the Ceasar salad wrap and has been asking ever since to go back. This is saying a l.o.t. The fiance hates anything that isn't mean and potatoes.
We ventured back to the joint yesterday and decided to try cheeseburgers. Gross. I hate half of mine before the boy decided that yes, he really was still pretty hungry, would I mind if he had the rest of mine? It's not that they were terrible- just more charcoal grilled than I prefer. I prefer my burgers to either be medium rare and dripping pink or the type of hamburgers you get in a McDonalds kid's meal.
The fries were awesome- I had normal, fiance had spicy.
Also, I just have to mention that every now and then, I get a craving for a corndog. I love corndogs. You don't really see them too many places other than at a state fair, but have no worries- they have them here! -

Pretty tasty dogs. I love that you can get any combo with a veggie dog. Always nice to have the option! My veggie dog wasn't particularly delicious, but I'm going to try something different next time.
The curly fries are excellent.
The ambience is cool, and the counter folks are top notch!
Will return! -

Delivery is fast, and the food doesn't come all soggy (a worry of mine when ordering Chicago style dogs). Huge selection. If you're looking for a place that does more gourmet type dogs like Hot Dougs, you are in the wrong place. These guys do industry standard, delicious hot dogs in many varieties. Great hours too - open late.
Their curly fries are delicious too. Service is friendly, delivery is accommodating and quick. If you need your staple Chicago dog, these guys are one of the best in the city in my opinion. -

My recent experience at the Lincoln Park America's Dog was a good news, bad news kind of thing.
The bad news first (as that's the kind of guy I am): I think I may have accidentally ordered (or they may have accidentally given me) a regular hot dog instead of a veggie dog. I have no biological proof of this - either from my stomach or from the dog. But all I know is I ordered two dogs - a Chicago style and an Atlanta style (that has nothing to do with the Olympics news, it was mere coincidence). And these two dogs were vastly different in presentation (the Atlanta style was cut in half) and taste.
The good news: if I did accidentally eat a meat dog, it didn't make me *that* ill. Which might be bad news for my carnivorous friends as it means there's not much meat in the dog. Or it might be good news as there's possibly not much meat in the dog.
Due to not knowing what the guts of the Atlanta dog were made of (because guts are a primary ingredient of meat dogs - bad news), I'm only rating on the Chicago dog. It was pretty lacklustre. For almost $4.00 (veggie dogs are 79 cents extra - bad news) a notfurter, I expected the dog to have more taste and more substance. The doggie was incredibly thin and overwhelmed by the toppings (including far too many sports peppers - bad news). Which, oddly, I didn't taste either (you get the point news).
I do give this place credit for having such a diverse lineup of encased meats (good news). I didn't even know so many cities had their own styles of hot dogs (just news), I thought it was just us (I no longer feel as special living in Chicago - bad news). And they have a side menu (including a veggie burger) to boot. But their namesake product left me flat this time. I had their veggie dog at Lollapalooza and it was good (news) so maybe I just caught this location on an off night.
I'll give it the third star just because I'm being nice (good news) and because the curly fries are incredible. But if they present me with more bad news next time, I may have to reconsider.Listed in: Get Your Group-On, The LP, Not Stinkin' Lincoln, Encased Not-Meats

Sure, there's better places for hot dogs, but this place gets an A+ for spelling out all the different city specialties. I ordered the buffalo dog that had hot sauce, blue cheese and celery salt on it. It was good, but not OMG good.
I do have to say that my friend's chopped salad looked really good, and the french fries and onion rings were off the chart.
It's veggie friendly, offering veggie dogs, along with a few (slim pickings) veggie options.
I'll go back, but only cause it's in the 'hood.Listed in: Dude, I'm hurtin!, Dog Friendly Establishments

Because sometimes I just need me a veggie dog & since I don't have a car & Hot Doug's is just. too. far. to walk.
Hot dog!
So happy to have found out that this corner dog dig serves Morningstar veggie dogs, all charred up for my eating pleasure. Not only that, but (drumroll please) ... they deliver!
So wait ... you mean any time I want a couple tasty veggie dog delights but am too damn lazy to walk there ... someone will bring them? To ME?!?!?!
Oh happy day. -

Let me preface this review by saying that I used to be a huge fan of America's Dog. I have been to the Loop location on several occasions and always was pleased with the quality of the food and the service.
Yesterday (Sunday), I went to the Lincoln Park location with a girlfriend of mine. I ordered the Atlanta Dog and she got a salad. We waited for about 10 minutes for the food which was a bit unusual (the Loop spot is usually WAY faster). After picking up our orders, my friend went to the condiment station to grab a fork only to find that there were none. No biggie. She went back to the counter and asked for a fork. The employee told her that they were at the condiment station and my friend politely informed him that there were none. Then, in chimes another employee who said that they were completely out of forks. OUT OF FORKS?? The employee then snidely told my friend that she would have to eat the salad with a SPOON!
Now, I've never worked in the food service industry but, I do eat quite a lot of food. Enough food, in fact, that I know that basic utensils are required when eating your meal. I would consider a fork to be one of those basic utensils!
If the staff knew that they were out of forks, why didn't they say something when my friend ordered her salad which is traditionally, a food eaten with a fork? Or better yet, why didn't they go to a CVS or Jewel down the street and pick up a few boxes of plastic forks?
Call me crazy but the no fork situation at this America's Dog location has put a serious bad taste in my mouth. Bad enough that I wont be headed back to any of the locations. -

going back to school tomorrow makes me start taking inventory of all my between class lunch spots. this is one of them... Now that I am going back to the cult of vegetarianism (well actually pescatarianism) I am happy that they serve veggie burgers and hot dogs. With enough onions and sport peppers they taste just as Good as the real thing!! their diet killing fries are good too! Non- veggies Go for the wraps they are awesome.Listed in: You know you go to Depaul…

I went here for a late night snack last night. I ended up getting the roadhouse burger with fries (~$8). It was pretty good for a fast food type place. The guy yelling out the orders was a prick though. He was screaming numbers and yelling at people for taking too long to pick up their food. His face was red and sweaty and it looked like he was going to blow a gasket.
Recommended for a quick late night bite.

I came here late one night after the bars had closed.
It's best to come here right before the rush or there will be no place to sit and packed with drunk people.
I've had better hot dogs at other places but if your drunk can you really tell?
The best thing I had there was the deep fried twinkie. I'd eat that even if I wasn't drunk. -

I LOVE me a good hot dog, and America's dog gives me just that. Most recently, I had the Westport dog--pretty good stuff, especially if you are a fan of sauerkraut. One of the best dogs I've had here is the Buffalo Dog, with blue cheese and hot sauce--sounds like a crazy combo, but it's super delicious. Their curly fries are also top notch, so be sure to order a side of those with your dog.
A few notes:
--Regular dogs are kinda small, well worth it to up it to a jumbo for $.40 extra
--Service is SUPER fast here--definite bonus
--One downside--good luck finding a "legal" parking spot -

This is America and its blend of dogs. From the Kansas City Dog to the Green Bay Dog, all dog is a dog with a special seasoning and at the end, you are getting a Dog. Yes a Hot Dog! This place is clean and offer real good selection of Hamburgers as well. The service is fast and I definitely will go back and this time I am trying the:
Baltimore Dog --- Deep fried dog, melted cheddar cheese & grilled onions.

This place has decent hot dogs. You can get Chicago style, Baltimore style, NY style, Houston style, etc etc. But they are more than just a hot dog joint, they have salads and burgers, including veggie burgers!
I like the buffalo popcorn chicken and seasoned curly fries personally.
They keep the place pretty clean and the staff is friendly.
Good luck finding parking, be careful of the permit parking too..Listed in: Lincoln Park

Nothing distinguishes this hot dog place from all other hot dog places in Chicago... It turns out that no matter how much stuff you put on TOP of a hot dog, it's still tends to taste like a hot dog. Even if you charge an extra $2 compared to everyone else, it's still a hot dog.
2 stars for excellent service every time I go in there. Also, the sandwiches are not half-bad. Stick to those. -

New location of a small hot dog chain with lots of different options for toppings (ex: Chicago Dog, Houston Dog (topping: chili), Atlanta Dog (coleslaw, chili, mustard, ketchup and onion) etc). The hot dogs are tasty and quite long.
But the best, a delightful surprise: the curly fries. Oh, curly fries, I love you. And the cheese topping for the fries was different than the usual fake cheesy topping - it tasted real.
Really enjoyed my dog. And just FYI, if you're a Lincoln Park bar scene regular, the place is open until 3am on Friday and Saturday. -

Best thing about this place, hands down: The cheese on the fries. It's very real--no cheez whiz here. And the fries are good, as it is, so it's a very solid dish, the cheese fries.
I didn't have any of the specialty dogs, but I find it incredibly hard to ruin a plain hot dog, and this one wasn't even close to ruined. (You also can't beat 50 dogs on opening day!) I'd absolutely return here for a cheap lunch on an "out and about" day. -

Pretty good food.
The curly fries kick ass, to put it simply. Seasoning, texture, everything.
The hot dogs, however, are not all they're cracked up to be. And they're unreasonably expensive compared to the other options in the city of Chicago.
If I were to return, I'd only order the curly fries and save the hot dogs for Portillo's. -

Chicago, IL
The hot dogs at this place are amazing. You go in and pick a city of your choice and that city has a specific hot dog for it. For example, the Baltimore hot dog is fried and covered with grilled onions and cheese, while the Green Bay hot dog has cheddar cheese all over it. The Buffalo dog is covered in buffalo sauce, blue cheese, and celery salt. A Chicago dog is obviously a Vienna Beef with everything on it. There are about a dozen or more cities to choose from. They make for some very tasty combinations. The value meal is: a city dog, a carton of curly fries and a small (16 ounce) fountain drink. This sells for $5.50, but you can upgrade your meal's hot dog to a jumbo for a total price of $5.83. Other than hot dogs, they also have burgers, Polish/Italian sausage, and beef sandwiches.
The interior is very generic which I don't mind because you can look out the windows on to a busy Lincoln Avenue intersection. The booth seats were comfortable. The people working there were very friendly.
They are open till midnight, except on Friday and Saturday when they stay open till 3am. Parking is on the street or in the Children's Hospital's parking garage, which makes it a hassle to visit unless you live in the area. They have a couple other locations in Chicago though.
One last piece of advice is to not go in there expecting a washroom because they don't have one. -

The great American road trip isn't complete without stops to the local wiener shops. America's Dog has all of your regional favorites from sea to shining sea.
The prices are on the hefty side but for the 3am location on Lincoln avenue's booze belt, dogs at any price go down like "buttah". The curly fries are on par with the greater potato status quo. And if you aren't feeling phallic, you can go for a burger, wrap or salad. The variety is there so it makes deciding on a post-binge place between pals as easy bet.
As for me, I tend to be the sidekick to my dog-loving friend's America's Dog visits. So the last time around I tried the a Veggie Chicago Dog and much to my surprise, it tickled my fancy. This isn't my go-to spot but if I happen to be dragged along, it won't be kicking and screaming. Hows THAT for patriotism? -

I have a hot dog maybe once every 5 years. And if you're going to do a hot dog, might as well be here. I had the Buffalo Dog. Good service and good curly fries.
I got one of those "mystery fried nuggets of wonder" mixed in with my fries, and ate it anyway. Even the MFNOW wasn't bad.
I might even be back in 5 years. -

I really like hot dogs, and America's Dog doesn't disappoint. The hot dogs are classic Vienna Beef, and the interesting toppings and combination options are delicious. The curly fries are great too.
Dallas - could have used much more chili.. there wasn't much on there
New York - very good if you're a fan of sauerkraut and mustard, obviously
San Fransisco - a Chicago style + chili, cheddar, ketchup(!!).. it was good
Westport - it was fine but the bacon didn't stand out and the relish didn't taste good with the sauerkraut
I'm excited to try different ones next time! -

I like hot dogs. I like a LOT of stuff on my hot dogs. I love chicago style, ny style, and any other style you can throw at me....besides plain style I really like hot dogs and I like to try a bunch of different kinds. This place is perfect for that. However, I wish that they had smaller hot dogs so I could get more different kinds. I'm always busting at the seams after 2....but I always want to try one more.
Get smaller hot dogs....and ill give you another star.
