They get the job done. This place is the closest hotel to beautiful downtown Galesburg. An easy walk to Knox College, restaurants, bars, shops, what have you.
I stayed here for $45 a night, which is pretty ridiculous. You do get what you pay for, though: only one of the three ice machines worked, the pillows are pretty lumpy, and my telephone was from a (I assume defunct) hotel in Florida. You don't stay here for the ambiance; you stay because it's a place to rest your drunken ass and grab some Broadview at 3 am. Get the All American City. You can thank me later.
They truly are America's best value. Every floor of the building has their own free wireless connection that is super-fast. The rooms are clean enough for the price (though I still won't touch the comforters). And you can get a balcony overlooking the train yards or the square... quite the view! :) Not to mention, the Broadview is downstairs, which is the perfect place to people watch and eat when you're too drunk to notice the quality of the food. I'll be seeing you in August, America's Best.
