6 reviews for America's Best Value Inn and Suites
I did not have the desire or the physical cash to drop $400-500 on a room or at a B&B in Healdsburg for a minimum of 2 nights because I was already planning on dropping a good amount of dough on a fancy dinner at the 2-star michelin restaurant down the street. This place is a great option.
Make sure to reserve ahead of time - at least a month in advance. Booking online is quite convenient. The good rates ($90/ night) vanish somewhere 3-2 weeks prior to your reservation date and get jacked to around $130-150, but ... still a good deal compared to the other B&Bs/ hotels in the areas...
The room is very clean, with no musty odors that often characterize older or bargain accommodations. We requested and received a King bed, which was appropriately large, with nice soft linens. The bathroom looked updated, the water pressure strong and good, and the towels a little rough but adequate. The room also comes with a hair dryer, mini fridge, a microwave and coffeemaker. A couple of very teeny tiny minor gripes: poor lighting in the sink area makes for slightly difficult shaving, and we were not provided with at least one extra roll of toilet paper (which I suppose we could have easily remedied by calling down to the front desk).
All in all, highly satisfactory accommodations... and they're pet-friendly!!

My stay was in May 2009
Poop sheets - that's right, I have pictures. Our sheets had a crusty nasty something on them! And housekeeping acted like we put it there and was surly about changing them! Yuk!
Light switch in the bathroom sparked and had to be wiggled to make the lights come on.
Unbelievably surly front desk. Indian punk 20-something wearing a worn out old sweatshirt, exceptionally unfriendly. The room was the most filthy I have ever seen, nasty stuff smeared on the walls, gross carpet, gross bathroom, wobbly toilet with toilet seat broken clean off (cleaning person helpfully propped it in place), had to wiggle the toilet handle to stop running, no towel bars or hooks, shower had the cheapest nastiest curtain imaginable and also still had tracks for glass doors which of course were filthy, grunge ring around the shower provided a complete dna record of all previous guests. Holes in the walls, really poor lighting, note that second floor rooms are steps only - no elevators, this is a motor lodge style hotel.
Here are some positives but honestly, how do you get past the poop sheets? The mattress was good, the pillows OK, the microwave and frig worked, there was lots of hot water, a wall mounted bottle opener in the bathroom which was amusing, the tap water was pretty good tasting and they did fix the toilet seat when we complained about it.
Short but highly ugly walk to Healdsburg downtown.
Outside has been recently painted and fixed up, inside did not receive a cent of improvement. Very noisy highway nearby, cars coming and going in the lot felt like they were in our room.
We were most offended by the terrible service/attitude at the front desk and overall filthiness of our room. Run down is one thing, but there is no excuse for this level of filth.
I'm convinced the positive reviews are fake.

These are very decent people. The staff were especially polite and reasonable. We were in a pinch with no reservations and they had the last room available for miles in any direction, so we found ourselves here. Definitely not the wine country getaway most would hope for. The room was dark and musty, but everything appeared to be clean. And they're pet friendly ($10 extra), which can be hard to find. I'm not sure under what circumstances you would seek to stay here (the rooms are quite depressing), but in a pinch you might feel lucky to find them. Low price for the area, and it seems clean with some recent updates.
Formerly called the Fairview Motel, this place is now an America's Best Value Inn. It's a step above a Motel 6 and sort of like a Days Inn. I stayed here during the Wine and Food Affair weekend where I knew every other nicer hotel would be like $250/night. I got a rate of $90/night which was decent for the location. You are literally a one minute drive from downtown Healdsburg. The distance is walkable, too, if you are in no condition to drive after dinner or wine tasting.
This motel is newly refurbished. The rooms are pretty spacious and the bathrooms are clean. The lobby is bright and cheerful and the owners are very nice and polite. Check-in and check-out was smooth with no problems. ABVI was completely sold out the night we were there, but the walls are pretty sound-proof since we didn't hear any noise from either side of us. The only thing is that sometimes the doors stick so we did hear some opening and closing of our neighbors' doors. The air conditioning worked well and was quiet enough to not disturb sleep.
The beds were not the firmest, but comfy enough. The sheets were your basic white motel sheets, but for some reason they felt really soft and smooth. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom along with shampoo and lotion. You might want to ask for extra soap if you plan on taking more than one shower since the size of the bar is sort of skimpy. The room also has a mini-fridge, microwave, and iron/ironing board which are great amenities to have. There is also a small table and two chairs. The small pool and hot tub across from the lobby looked clean and sparkling.
Breakfast is included in the rate. It was pretty good and you could definitely fill up on it and save money by not going out to eat before a day of wine tasting. There was toast, bagels, cornflakes cereal, peanut butter and jelly, butter, and cream cheese. For drinks, they had OJ, coffee, and milk. The real winner was the waffle machine. A waffle machine!!! It worked really well and fast and the waffles turned out perfectly.
There are just a few minor negatives to point out. The TV was blurry and the color was off. The shower stall is a bit dark and smelled a bit of mildew, but it was clean. Also, the lobby smelled like curry. The Indian owners have an apartment connected to the lobby and unfortunately, the smell of their cooking wafts into the lobby.
Overall, if you are looking for cheap, basic accommodations near downtown Healdsburg, I highly recommend ABVI. I would rather stay here than a fancy hotel and use the money saved for a nice dinner instead.

The key word is value. Our room was small with an awkward layout, the bathroom was older and the TV had awful picture quality (the contrast was so bad- you could not see any night scenes). The bed was pretty lumpy, but the sheets were clean and soft. You could definitely walk into downtown Healdsburg from this location- although we didn't end up doing that and the room was quiet- no noise from the street or other guests. Overall it is a good value if you don't feel like forking over the money for a $200 or more bed and breakfast, our room was only $90 a night. But don't expect the hilton or even a holiday inn. If you don't care about luxuries or ambiance. This is a safe, affordable place to stay in wine country.

This place was great! You can tell that they remodeled the place recently - everything was freshly painted and very clean. The rooms are big with a good size bathroom (great water pressure in the shower). The sheets on the bed were nice and soft - not the usual cheap scratchy ones. For being right near the plaza and being clean and pleasant the rooms are an incredible deal. We paid ~$90 a night (that includes all the taxes and such). So if you're looking for a nice clean place to crash after a full day of wine tasting this place is the best!
