I came here with my girlfriend and dog in August, I mainly chose it because they allow pets and were reasonably priced.

The rooms are well sized.  Our's was a basic suite with separate living and sleeping areas.  The room was well sized and the bathroom nice and big.  However things looked old in general.  The TV was old and had a fuzzy picture and the carpet was mildly stained in a few places.  They skimp on the bathroom soap and shampoo.  Everything is in a giant wall dispenser (public restroom style) and I swear the soap was actually hand sanitizer.  It didn't foam!

They charge $10/night as a pet fee which is a great price.  The room doors open directly do the outside, great for dogs when you have to take them on a bathroom break.

The people working the front desk are not the friendliest but this hotel does have the word "Value" in it.  Remember, you get what you pay for.

I found the grape vines around the rooms and parking lot to be nice.  I actually picked some and had them for breakfast.  They were ripe and sweet in August!

I think I paid about $180 for a Saturday night in August here.

Its a short trip to downtown healdsburg but it's not the prettiest route. If you are gussied up for a nice dinner I suggest you drive the 5 blocks instead of walking.  You'll see what I mean when you get there.

Overall if you have a dog and are just looking for a clean place to sleep this is it.  Other pet friendly hotels in Healdsburg are at least $50/night more than this place.

DO NOT STAY HERE.  If a tornado/earthquake/locust/December12-2012 comes and you have nowhere to stay, DO NOT STAY HERE!  Now, with that said, some quick pros: The lights worked. There was a bed, and contrary to other reviews, the bed bugs decided not to stay here anymore.  Here's where our experience began.

Mrs. and I  needed a short notice place to stay in Healdsburg, and found this place on-line.  Compared to $300 a night local accommodations, $180 seemed reasonable.  After checking in, we immediately left for dinner.  Upon our return, expecting a nice relaxing evening, we turned on the TV in the "parlor".  No workie.  Turned on the TV in the bedroom.  No workie.  The satellite seemed to be "searching" for transponders or whatever.  So, I thought I would set the alarm clock while this thing reset.  Alarm clock:  No workie.  It was like 12:00 the only time displayed, like a prop clock used in a furniture store.  Fine, let me call the front desk about the TV and the clock.  Telephone:  No workie.  There seems to be a trend here, don't you think?

Luckily, I'm not a big drinker, since I would have walked over to the little bar area (coffee machine, mini-fridge, and sink) to make a Scotch and water.  I would have turned on the water and:  No workie!  There is no way a two hundred dollar (after taxes/fees) room could possibly have this many failed amenities.  They front desk guy was absolutely no help.  Had I not had business in the morning, I would have insisted on some type of refund. I'm not a hotel snob, but I would barely put up with this at a Motel 6, not at a franchise chain that I just paid $200 for.

Don't take any chances; there are plenty of other options in Healdsburg.

Don't stay here, this place sucks. Rude staff, beyond rude, down right rediculous. Worst hotel experience I've ever had.

I paid $200 for a flea infested room. First off, the rooms here are worth about $40 but they jacked up the rate so much because of the wine road event. I saw little jumpy bugs in the middle of the night and realized it was fleas after I checked out. I have about 20 bites on each leg, feet, and  arms! The other people that stayed in the room also have bites. I called to complain but the lady could only tell me "I'll have the maids check on it and let you know." Let me know what?! I saw the fleas jumping around while I was there & ALL of us have flea bites now! I really hope they comp our room because $200 for a flea infested room is pretty BS.

My stay was in May 2009

Poop sheets - that's right, I have pictures.  Our sheets had a crusty nasty something on them!  And housekeeping acted like we put it there and was surly about changing them!  Yuk!

Light switch in the bathroom sparked and had to be wiggled to make the lights come on.

Unbelievably surly front desk.  Indian punk 20-something wearing a worn out old sweatshirt, exceptionally unfriendly.  The room was the most filthy I have ever seen, nasty stuff smeared on the walls, gross carpet, gross bathroom, wobbly toilet with toilet seat broken clean off (cleaning person helpfully propped it in place), had to wiggle the toilet handle to stop running, no towel bars or hooks, shower had the cheapest nastiest curtain imaginable and also still had tracks for glass doors which of course were filthy, grunge ring around the shower provided a complete dna record of all previous guests.  Holes in the walls, really poor lighting, note that second floor rooms are steps only - no elevators, this is a motor lodge style hotel.

Here are some positives but honestly, how do you get past the poop sheets?  The mattress was good, the pillows OK, the microwave and frig worked, there was lots of hot water, a wall mounted bottle opener in the bathroom which was amusing, the tap water was pretty good tasting and they did fix the toilet seat when we complained about it.

Short but highly ugly walk to Healdsburg downtown.

Outside has been recently painted and fixed up, inside did not receive a cent of improvement.  Very noisy highway nearby, cars coming and going in the lot felt like they were in our room.

We were most offended by the terrible service/attitude at the front desk and overall filthiness of our room.  Run down is one thing, but there is no excuse for this level of filth.

I'm convinced the positive reviews are fake.

We have experienced the worst nightmare of room reservations ever! My friends reservation was not honored so when I offered to share my king upgrade and asked for them to make up the sofa bed, we were declined! Really?! I would never stay at this hotel again! An unaccomodating manager who would rather call the police than provide quality customer service.

Formerly called the Fairview Motel, this place is now an America's Best Value Inn.  It's a step above a Motel 6 and sort of like a Days Inn.  I stayed here during the Wine and Food Affair weekend where I knew every other nicer hotel would be like $250/night.  I got a rate of $90/night which was decent for the location.  You are literally a one minute drive from downtown Healdsburg.  The distance is walkable, too, if you are in no condition to drive after dinner or wine tasting.

This motel is newly refurbished.  The rooms are pretty spacious and the bathrooms are clean.  The lobby is bright and cheerful and the owners are very nice and polite.  Check-in and check-out was smooth with no problems.  ABVI was completely sold out the night we were there, but the walls are pretty sound-proof since we didn't hear any noise from either side of us.  The only thing is that sometimes the doors stick so we did hear some opening and closing of our neighbors' doors.  The air conditioning worked well and was quiet enough to not disturb sleep.

The beds were not the firmest, but comfy enough.  The sheets were your basic white motel sheets, but for some reason they felt really soft and smooth.  There is a hairdryer in the bathroom along with shampoo and lotion.  You might want to ask for extra soap if you plan on taking more than one shower since the size of the bar is sort of skimpy.  The room also has a mini-fridge, microwave, and iron/ironing board which are great amenities to have.  There is also a small table and two chairs.  The small pool and hot tub across from the lobby looked clean and sparkling.

Breakfast is included in the rate.  It was pretty good and you could definitely fill up on it and save money by not going out to eat before a day of wine tasting.  There was toast, bagels, cornflakes cereal, peanut butter and jelly, butter, and cream cheese.  For drinks, they had OJ, coffee, and milk.  The real winner was the waffle machine.  A waffle machine!!!  It worked really well and fast and the waffles turned out perfectly.

There are just a few minor negatives to point out.  The TV was blurry and the color was off.  The shower stall is a bit dark and smelled a bit of mildew, but it was clean.  Also, the lobby smelled like curry.  The Indian owners have an apartment connected to the lobby and unfortunately, the smell of their cooking wafts into the lobby.

Overall, if you are looking for cheap, basic accommodations near downtown Healdsburg, I highly recommend ABVI.  I would rather stay here than a fancy hotel and use the money saved for a nice dinner instead.

I did not have the desire or the physical cash to drop $400-500 on a room or at a B&B in Healdsburg for a minimum of 2 nights because I was already planning on dropping a good amount of dough on a fancy dinner at the 2-star michelin restaurant down the street.  This place is a great option.

Make sure to reserve ahead of time - at least a month in advance. Booking online is quite convenient.  The good rates ($90/ night) vanish somewhere 3-2 weeks prior to your reservation date and get jacked to around $130-150, but ... still a good deal compared to the other B&Bs/ hotels in the areas...

The room is very clean, with no musty odors that often characterize older or bargain accommodations.  We requested and received a King bed, which was appropriately large, with nice soft linens.  The bathroom looked updated, the water pressure strong and good, and the towels a little rough but adequate.  The room also comes with a hair dryer, mini fridge, a microwave and coffeemaker. A couple of very teeny tiny minor gripes: poor lighting in the sink area makes for slightly difficult shaving, and we were not provided with at least one extra roll of toilet paper (which I suppose we could have easily remedied by calling down to the front desk).

All in all, highly satisfactory accommodations... and they're pet-friendly!!

These guys totally screwed us. We booked on Hotwire and when we asked for two double beds, they said "that'll cost you the difference between your Hotwire price and our rack rate." Since we didn't want to sleep in the same bed (two guys working in the area), they knew they had us over a barrel... they said "we'll give you a great rate the NEXT time you come." thanks but no thanks.. there won't be a next time.

3.5 is my real rating but I'm rounding up.  Slightly overpriced for what it is.

That been said you do get fully renovated rooms, clean and generally pleasant. Room had a microwave so I could make my green tea. Coffee maker and fridge too.

Bitchin' mirror in the bathroom for doing my eyebrows btw!!

We had the suite with king size bed and paid $159 for a Saturday night stay. Good choice for a no-frills clean place to stay a night or two.

Also complimentary breakfast observations...wafflemaker in the morning is pretty cool. How about some hard boiled eggs or yogurt for low carb folks.

The coffee situation in the lobby could be improved..very mind boggling first thing in the morning so just stick to the coffee in your room. I always ask for an extra bag and put two in at the same time. I like my coffee strong.

Also they were nice when I couldn't figure out the wireless connection.

If you are used to staying at Marriott, or even Best Western, staying here will be a change.  The room was fine, but the little amenities were absent (e.g., no glasses- just the plastic cups you need to unwrap; no little shampoos or conditioners, but they did have a pump in the shower for those items).  Bare bones but if you are looking for a cheap place to stay, this is fine (use priceline).

It is a 5 minute walk from the Healdsburg Plaza but I can see why another reviewer suggested you may still want to take your car- the hotel is right off the highway (you do here a little traffic at night) and the sidewalk does not exist the whole way into town (although there is clearly a path).  My husband and I still did the walk and found it well lit, even around 11:30 when we headed back.

The staff was helpful when we needed additional toliet paper (no spare rolls in the room) and we didn't hear any of our neighbors during the two nights we stayed here.

The key word is value.  Our room was small with an awkward layout, the bathroom was older and the TV had awful picture quality (the contrast was so bad- you could not see any night scenes).  The bed was pretty lumpy, but the sheets were clean and soft.  You could definitely walk into downtown Healdsburg from this location- although we didn't  end up doing that and the room was quiet- no noise from the street or other guests.  Overall it is a good value if you don't feel like forking over the money for a $200 or more bed and breakfast, our room was only $90 a night.  But don't expect the hilton or even a holiday inn.  If you don't care about luxuries or ambiance.  This is a safe, affordable place to stay in wine country.

I found America's Best Value Inn to be the best possible bang for my buck. The largest plus was that I paid $45 plus tax (through priceline) rather than shelling out $100/ night that many of the other hotels in the area were asking for.  The room was quiet and clean, and the bed was comfortable.  The staff was very friendly, and housekeeping didn't wake us up in the morning. The location was easy to get to, and I walked to Starbucks for coffee teh next morning.

On the downside, the room was  a little too cold, and the blanket didn't do a good job of keeping me warm.  I brought my own pillow, but my sweetheart did not, and he didn't sleep as well as he would have liked because of it.

The long and short of it: I'd stay there again, and remember to bring warmer pajamas, and have my partner bring a pillow.

This place is cheap but seriously not worth it if you want a decent night sleep.  The beds were Very uncomfortable.  No one in my family slept well!  Also, we had asked for sofa bed to be made up before hand and when we got there it wasn't.  We also asked for another set of towels and those were never brought either.  Again, it's in a great location and cheap, but it's just not comfortable.

These are very decent people.  The staff were especially polite and reasonable.  We were in a pinch with no reservations and they had the last room available for miles in any direction, so we found ourselves here.  Definitely not the wine country getaway most would hope for.  The room was dark and musty, but everything appeared to be clean.  And they're pet friendly ($10 extra), which can be hard to find.  I'm not sure under what circumstances you would seek to stay here (the rooms are quite depressing), but in a pinch you might feel lucky to find them.  Low price for the area, and it seems clean with some recent updates.

This place was great!  You can tell that they remodeled the place recently - everything was freshly painted and very clean.  The rooms are big with a good size bathroom (great water pressure in the shower).  The sheets on the bed were nice and soft - not the usual cheap scratchy ones.  For being right near the plaza and being clean and pleasant the rooms are an incredible deal.  We paid ~$90 a night (that includes all the taxes and such).  So if you're looking for a nice clean place to crash after a full day of wine tasting this place is the best!
