I would come back here again for breakfast if I am back in Jersey.
The diner kind of reminds me of a diner you might see on Guy Ferrari's diner show in the Food Network. But not as fancy and does not have that wow factor. Just saying it looks like a diner.
I got the 2X4 (Pancakes, Ham (choice of meat), Eggs, Hashbrown) and I love their pancakes! It's not that expensive. They're quick to seat you - food time is decent (not fast but not too long).
Note: There is no Biscuit & Gravy here! Total disappointment! But their pancakes makes up for it. :-) -

OMG - the food here was so fresh and delicious! We go to diners semi-frequently and, being from NJ, have practically grown up in them.
There were 3 of us and we had a breakfast entree (can't remember which one), a burger and a chicken gyro. Everything was SO good! The fries were outstanding.
No complaints about the service. For some reason, I left with an impression that the lights were really bright--I don't know, something was off in that regard.
Give it a try. After many disappointing or just plain mediocre diner food lately, I just loved the food here. -

Rates right up there with the best diners in central Jersey, although the service is casual. Their specials, many of which appear to be scratch-made with care and attention, have been very good when sampled. There is an Americana diner in the Princeton area (E. Windsor, I believe) which isn't anywhere near this good. The extensive menu and equally extensive chrome trim are a part of the diner genre; they just taste better here!

This remains our go-to place when we're visiting our grand kids.
We visit the area for at least a week, twice a year (some years three times) for the past six years. We eat at the Americana at least three or four times during those visits. My son and his family eat there about two or three times a month. Never had any service issues of any kind. In fact they're very accommodating to special requests we make on behalf of the kids.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I don't how anyone rates this diner less than 5 stars. Big portions, tasty food, excellent service, nice atmosphere and clean.
This is the best diner in the area without a doubt. -

Typical Jersey style dinner, nothing strikes us as above and beyond. Actually we were struck by below and gross. Service was horribly slow. I mean who goes to a diner and can't get another cup of coffee during breakfast time. I had to keep asking other servers and they gave a nasty look with each pour. The cream that was served was expired and sat in the cup like a mucus ball.
We will not be back and asked our hotel NOT to recommend this place. -

Great omelets and breakfast combinations, extensive menu of lunch specials which are piled high on your plate. You always have enough left to bring home for dinner. Many Greek specialties including spanikopita (spinach pie) which is freshly made and the portion is generous. It gets VERY crowded at lunchtime during the week so if you are not there by 12noon, expect to wait. HINT : Ask for a booth because the little back room with the tables is cramped and there is an issue with the cooling system in that room. The service is top notch and they do not get upset by special orders & substitutions like some other restaurants do.

Typical diner style and feel. Cheeseburger deluxe, the standard by which all diners are judged is A-OK !! Definitely ranks in the upper half of diner burgers, which for some reason all seem to have the same taste!!

Not to be confused with the Americana Diner/Restaurant in East Windsor, THIS Americana is what a Jersey diner should be. Breakfast all day. Doesn't try to be upscale or trendy. Gigantic menu. Bright interior. Quick, no nonsense service.
Gets very busy on the weekends. Has its own parking lot, but at peak hours you may have to circle a few times to get a spot. -

Hello Pancakes, have you met butter and syrup? Once these three ingredients married on my plate I was happier than Santa in a Cookie factory!
Sunday morning at the diner is as important as making it to church, ok in some cases dare I say it's even more important than going to church!
The Americana Diner is just like what you'd see in the movies. It's got the aluminum looking exterior and fluffy plastic booths on the interior. I'm learning the average weight for a diner menu is in the vicinity of at least a pound and a half, The Americana is no exception.
I ordered a 2 x 4 - 2 eggs, home fries, 2 sausage links and 2 pancakes. I also opted for a side of English muffin (i like to break my yolks over it). I am not a fan of breakfast meats, but these sausages were GOOOD! The pancakes phenomenal! The only thing I felt fifty fifty over were the potatoes, had they kept warm longer or been a little more cooked I may have devoured them, in this case however I only took a few bites.
The service at diners, I'm learning is pretty good. The people are nice and efficient but not overly friendly. They kind of just let you eat and go, I don't mind that too much especially when I'm running off to the beach to sleep off all the breakfasty goodness I just ate.
Breakfast accomplished Americana, thanks! -
Review from Neal E.
I ate breakfast in here one morning - I could not believe the wait for a table! I figured I must be onto something if the locals come out in force for diner food!
The outside of the diner is very retro - the place has a stainless steel finish to it - feels like a bit of diner-dom from ancient days of yore!
I finally got a table - the place was really busy and the place appeared to be a bit understaffed wait staff-wise.
When I finally got the attention of a waitress - I ordered the Gyro omelet. First time I've come across gyro meat in an omelet. Turned out to be really good! Paired with some home fries and strong coffee and it was a quality diner experience! -

Silver Diner, Hollywood Diner, they want to be Americana Diner. What composes of all the restaurants in Jersey? Pizza places, Japanese Hibachi/Sushi restaurants, and your classic American diners.
You can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner all the same time here. With a menu that would take years for you to finish if you chose to eat 1 different dish everyday.
Had the pot roast sandwich special. Nothing special, but the service was fantastic. Everything you would expect from a diner. -

Best Diner in Monmouth County. They have the best Matzo ball soup, french toast and breakfast. They give you huge portions and a friendly smile. It can be a bit pricey but its good quality. My favorite is the french toast, they use the Challah bread and egg to make the yummiest tasting french toast. They have a huge menu, as diners usually do and everything tastes fresh. Whatever you desire, Americana will have it. They have a lot of booths, plasma tvs and the usual counter service. It does get pretty crowded in here, but its worth the wait.
Enjoy Jersey finest diner!!! -

This is probably the only reason I'm proud to say I'm from New Jersey. I know I've been reviewing a lot of Waffle Houses because I hit the road a lot while I was in college, but those breakfast food chains are just poor imitations of the classic Jersey diner. And the Americana Diner is the paragon of Jersey diner.
I've never been disappointed when I go here (which isn't nearly enough). I highly recommend their breakfast specials -- they're a steal. 2 eggs of your choice, coffee/tea AND juice, toast, homefries all for under $4! Add a meat to the platter and it's still under $6! The portions are ginormous for the price. The service is just top notch. The establishment is retro in design but slick and clean.
Come here for a good meal and to get an idea of what the REAL Jersey Shore is like, not what MTV has been telling you. -

This place is great for families traveling. Cool retro-50s decor makes for a fun atmosphere. Clean facilites, courteous service. I ordered a simple breakfast and the food was fine. Not spectacular. Cookie cutter... which would serve a traveling family well. If you're looking for something special or original, this is not the place. Good parking. Accessible.

Good daily specials. Stopped in for lunch and had the fish and chips. Very good. Always a crowd in this diner. You can have counter service if you need the feel of an old time Jersey Diner.

Today I went to the Americana Diner in Little Silver, New Jersey with my brother. We had two eggs over easy, $3.95 on the menu, and a spinach and feta omelette $7.95. And $.50 for egg whites. I had a diet coke, and the bill was $2.00 more than we expected, so my brother went up to the register and asked the cashier why.
He doesn't care about the money he cares about the discrepancy between advertised prices and what he was billed. The cashier called over the waitress, who said we both ordered lettuce and tomato instead of toast. The manager then appeared, and told us there was an extra charge for lettuce and tomato.
My brother, a successful retired photographer, real estate investor, and now middle school teacher (giving back), said it wasn't stated on the menu and the waitress didn't tell us. The manager flipped the six-page menu all the way through the breakfast part, the lunch part, and the dinner part. At the end of the menu, it said: no substitutions.
No substitutions on that page, when "egg whites avaiable $.50 was clearly listed with the omelettes? Defending the indefensible?
My brother pointed out that "no substitutions" is not the same as "lettuce and tomato $1.00 extra." The manager replied, "don't get rude, I am taking it off." it never dawned on him to say, "good point, we will tell our waitresses to tell that to people," or "when we reprint the menu, we will fix that." instead. He said, with heavy irony, "have a nice day."
Up until then, I was pretty disengaged, but his tone finally swayed me. "you don't really give a fig," I said, using the other word you shouldn't use in blogs.
And out the door we went. My brother told me later that he gave the waitress a $5.00 tip on the $10.00 check. "It wasn't really her fault," he said.
Food doesn't matter if attitude sucks. -

This is the go-to diner in the area. If you aren't from Jersey, wait until you're bored and hungry with friends at 11pm and then go here and order... whatever meal you're in the mood for, cause diner menus are like that. Or go here any other time. I'm a fan of their breakfast items. Burgers/wraps/sandwiches are all good too.
The food is good for a diner. Prices are a little high, but that's normal these days. The manager always comes and greets me and my bro, which is heartwarming. -

As diners go Americana is top of the heap. They have a huge menu. The portions are extremely generous and fairly priced. The service was perfect. The decor is really just fun. It's very brightly colored and well lit with lots of Yankees paraphanalia decorating the walls.
I was glad we made this stop after going to the movies in Red Bank. -

Best diner in the area. The menu is like reading Huck Finn...it's like two hundred pages and covers almost every cooking style out there.
The staff have always been very attentive and professional, and the food is delicious, quick, and served in generous portions. Definitely worth it. -

Pretty good diner. Pancakes are delicious, I think they put vanilla in the batter or something. Really great.
Pretty typical NJ Diner. Wait staff can be hit-or-miss, but food is consistently palatable. -

yes, this indeed, is one of the best diners i've been to, in most recent memory. this is how a diner should look like, bright, a bit gaudy. the four of us friends enjoyed what we had here during early dinner time; i had large greek salad, several cups of coffee, stuffed mushrooms (greek style), & those others shared me by my friends from their plates. it's a mini-feast! it was simply filling! great friendly service, too!
