Slightly overpriced, but if you have time to dig, you may find a gem or two. I recently found a really nice silk dress circa 1950's.
Warning, it does smell kind of weird in there, like stale dead stuff.

The woman at the register has an attitude,  no matter what day you go.
If you don't want to deal with the 'tude, here are some other great shops in Los Feliz you should check out for vintage:
    Meowdy
    Cherry pick vintage
    Popkiller
    Weltenbueger
    Replay
    Squaresville
    Una Mae's
    Goodwill

Dang, all these places are walking distance from my house. I'm a freaking' lucky girl. No need to drive in LA!

Totally irked by the rude girl that works here. I have been here before and bought a few items, so when a friend came to town I took her here to shop, upon entering the girl that works there said "I m closing for lunch in 5 min" umm ok, we barely got in the door and she wasn't kidding when another customer came in she told him the same thing in the same perturbed voice. I guess to me it's just annoying because the place is not that big so why not just let u's shop a minute and wait for your lunch break, I mean she already was scarfing a bag of chips!! It was crazy, needless to say our 5 minutes were up and she booted me my friend and the other guy in the store. It fine went went up the street and blew 200$ on another vintage store.  Lame

Selection and pricing here can be hit or miss but if you're in the mood for vintage shopping, you don't want to skip this one. The occasional gem is well worth it.

Random finds over the past couple years:

Suede fitted 1970s jacket in perfect condition - $25
rust colored petite leather gloves with knit lining - $14
pale tan microsuede driving gloves with chocolate trim - $12
    1960s sunglasses - $10 each
vintage button up blouse - $10

    Happy digging!

I was walking back from HOME and saw a hippie purse outside which would just go perfectly with my alter-ego (Indigo Rain), who I have decided to let loose at Coachella.

Needless to say, I grabbed the purse off the mannequin and ran into the store, planning on only paying for the purse and leaving.

However, as I went into the store, I realized I must look around. I was hypnotized by the worn shoes and shocked at the obviously used - but washed - undies and corsets (which thrilled me to no end - I mean, used undies? C'mon!).
If it wasn't for the guy I was with, I would have stayed here for a couple of hours.

The service guy was nice and I just absolutely loved the place. I will definitely be coming back when I don't have someone breathing down my neck and nudging me out the door!

Small store, wonderful selection of fantastic finds and I thought everything inside was priced quite fairly considering how tiny the store was. Stores gotta make money, you know?

Then I purchased three men's vests (they're about $12-$16 each) and asked the associate if he could do $30 for all three and he obliged. WONDERFUL!

Once I've got money to spend on clothing, I'm definitely coming back to this shop.

Yay for this store! Not only is it loaded with awesome vintage dresses, BUT I found an awesome black Fedora that fits my noggin like a dream. Seriously, I can't tell you how excited I was to find this after stalking them in New York and coming up empty handed and this one was only $25!! Saasaasaascoooorrre!!!

I guess it's only been around a month or so, but I hope they stay in business and do well, since this is a great after stop shop next to Home. Go here and support em and rock that vintage like ya mean it! :)

Useless.  A lot of this stuff isn't vintage, isn't one of a kind -- it's just stuff they found in some other thrift store, I'm guessing, and then brought here to charge a lot of money for it.  If you go to a thrift store and search through the racks, you can find all this stuff, except for four and five dollars.  Plus, you get that warm fuzzy feeling of knowing you dug and searched for it, which part of the adventure of the clothes.  When you go to this store, you pay someone quite a bit of money to have half the fun.

I bought something here once.  I was bored, waiting for a table at Home and I went in and bought this crazy sequined top.  It was really unusual and I thought I had found this very unique find that I should definitely buy because I'd never see anything like it again.  A few months later, I saw a girl wearing the same top at an of Montreal concert in Pomona.

This stuff at "American Vintage" isn't vintage.  It's just stuff from thrift stores that looks good that  they're reselling for a lot more money.  Don't be a sucker!  I'm warning you!

This place seriously rocks my grandma's socks. I love it! I was in a terrible mood until the sun peered through the clouds and I happened to notice that the store opened up recently. I relived my unicorn circa 1983 childhood days. What can I say...this place is awesome.

The staff is also very friendly and helpful. They have a great selection of band t-shirts, 80s prom dresses, and short short adidas running shorts. Robert palmer and his back up gang might have dropped off some of their wardrobe. I may be slicking my hair back tomorrow. Also, the prices are reasonable especially for the memories.

I can only speak to this store in terms of Halloween, but I have to say I found everything I needed here and more! Better still, I was able to buy vintage for cheap and thus avoid buying a dress that just screams "Halloween Costume." Their dress section was amazing and if money weren't so tight I would have tried on a bunch more.

My boyfriend looked at the boy-clothes while I shopped, and while he didn't buy anything he was pretty impressed with their selection and prices. They seemed to have a pretty equal selection of boy and girl clothes, which is great since most of the vintage stores I've seen skew towards woman's clothing.

The store is really nicely put-together and the dressing rooms are great, though since they're moving (to Hollywood) those aspects of the store may change soon.

I always stop by when I'm going to have breakfast or lunch at Home Restaurant;  2 birds 1 stone. I suggest if you have never been to either, make a trip out of it. Do lunch or breakfast at Home and stop by American Vintage. Your bound to love one or both of them.

Store is neat and organized. Nice staff. Not cheap but not to expensive, but after all it is all relevant quality vintage ware.

Oh and if you ever wanted a cashmere sweater and didn't want to spend big bucks on it. Take a look at there selection. I got my first ever cashmere sweater from this place and it is amazing!

I wandered in here on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The music was bumping Al Green and two customers were dancing wildly as I entered the store. At first glance, everything looked well organized, neat, and packed with merchandise. When I began to sift through the racks however, I didn't really find anything to my liking. Also, I thought the prices were too high. Average cost of dresses were $27 - $50. I didn't think the styles of dresses were all that great. Mostly a 70's look with flower prints and rayon and spandex fabrics. However, they did have a great selection of vintage boots - average cost $45.

The owner, I think he said his name was Aaron, wore mirror lens aviators inside the store and was very friendly. As an avid vintage shopper, my overall opinion of this place is that I probably wouldn't go back.

**There are only a handful of parking spots for this place, so you have to park in the neighborhood, which can be challenging.

I love this shop. They have a rad selection of boots for decent prices. They have 2 store locations,  this one and the other one on Sunset in Echo Park. I'd say if you want a more boutique experience, go to the Hillhurst one. If you want a raggity, thirft store feel go to the Echo Park one.

Both have a decent selection...it ranged from boots, dresses to even a snow mobile and surf boards. You can find almost anything there!

I might make a trip to check this place out in person, but then again, I might not; the woman who answered the phone was so incredibly unhelpful, I'm tempted to simply look elsewhere.  Too bad -- a nearby competitor who didn't have what I was looking for actually recommended that I contact them.

Not a bad vintage shop, though I have to say this one isn't as good as their Fullerton location.  I love the huge row of dresses at their Fullerton store, and this one had a small, but nice selection of them.  Decent selection of clothes and shoes in general, didn't find anything that stood out to me though.  Maybe if I'm in the mood I'll make another trip here, for now I'm off to explore what other vintage LA has to offer.

I like American Vintage despite myself. On a scale of 1-10 in the organization dept, they get about a 7.  The quality of the items is spotty, but the prices correspond to the quality.  It is a really fin place to pop into, have a look-see and enjoy the music and atmosphere. This is the kind of place I will go to again when not looking for something special, just looking for a new discovery.

Wow. I mean, wow. Located next to one of my favorite places to sit outside for a nice meal and a cocktail or two, American Vintage has brought the heat with their ecletic selection of vintage clothes, hats, glasses and overall badassness. I didn't stay long because I had my Sancho with me but if I did I could have done some serious damage (in a good way). I highly recommend you peruse this place if you happen to find yourself at HOME or the Drawing Room. It's rad.

I guess the secret to finding a great vintage shop can often be with the timing (i.e. what stock they have), but upon my first visit here I came out with two big bags of purchases! Their selection of knitwear is particularly good, but I agree that there could be more dresses. I'd say everything is pretty reasonably priced, but I was pretty happy that when I stumbled across this place they had a sale on!

I have gotten some really great finds in this funky little shop. They have a great selection of cute little sundresses which I am a big fan of. My favorite find is a pair of grey boots that I snagged for just $35.00... can't beat that!

This is a store for girlie-girls looking for a dressy fix - one of the better places to find quality vintage dresses, handbags, jewelry, and the like.  But I do have a personal bias - I prefer Sheena's selection in Downtown, as well as that of Immoni's in Long Beach.  But this is a nice stop when you're on a shopping spree in the Los Feliz neighbourhood.  Otherwise, American Vintage has a great shopping atmosphere (read: never too crowded) and very attentive staff ... prices?  Meh.  Good, but I've seen better.  And sadly, parking is not a pleasant experience - you're doomed to find the impossible parking space somewhere along Hillhurst, unless you're wizened up to the local side streets.

I enjoyed browsing in here and I see the potential of this store, but I didn't walk away with anything in hand.  There was a good selection of dresses, and an OK selection of vintage handbags.  I love vintage furs/stoles and they had a great selection at a reasonable price.  All of the items here are in good shape.  True vintage not just old clothes.

The selection is well-curated and the prices are on occasion shockingly low for what you get (certainly compared to other cities). Fun browsing and it's never been crowded while I've visited. Come while your friends are waiting 45 minutes for an outdoor table at Home.

I'm a t-shirt freak. My mind operates in two modes: 100% cotton and 50/50 blends. So, of course I go down to visit Los Angeles and all I pack are the tees. But we have to go out later and I should try and look at least a LITTLE bit more respectable. So I'm hanging with a few ladies and we swing into American Vintage to find me something with a little style. Well, first of all this place is super cool, set up all nice and organized and cool dark wood little compartments with only quality vintage clothes. It's a small store but deceptively has a ton of cool duds to pick from. Well, lo and behold this sweet brown western short sleeved shirt with gold thread running through it practically lept off the the rack for me. It was like a little hipster alarm went off and light shone down from the heavens and - oh okay, it was just a cool Levi's shirt and it was only $20. Perfect. My look was set for the night in less than 15 minutes. Oh yeah, they had cool shades and blazers and some kickass old school roller skates in this corner cubby that I don't think were for sale. But hey, what a damn cool store.

TONS tons tons of vintage. My arms got sore trying to navigate through the clothing. I'd recommend for those looking for some good true vintage finds. They also make their own clothes out of vintage fabric I think, but its so overpriced. I didn't buy nothing that day, but I was so amazed at their HUGE selection.

absolutely amazing selection of vintage dresses!  i did some damage today while waiting at the obscene line at home.  i bought two dresses and two scarves for around 60 bucks, which is really good for the type of selection that they have.  also, we're not only talking about dresses for tiny ladies, which is a huge deal for us curvy folks.  i will definitely hit this place up the next time i want/need a new dress.

really decent prices and a great selection. i regularly hit vintage shops from sf to chi to ny and i can tell you that this store AV, lot of times, has stuff way underpriced. for a small store they have great racks of "wearable" clothes. it's not tailored to any particular era. the pieces are smart and it will leave you coming back for more. plus.. it is in the best neighborhood in the country. big up Los Feliz!!!!!
