Yum! I love this place!
The workers are absolutely nice. Their service is quite attentive and hard-working. They always come to your table to make sure everything's well and to refill your water. They also provide you with a seafood pancake that's absolutely crisp and yummy!
Their rolls are HUGE, which is why their prices make sense. I've ordered the unagi donburi here and it's so yummy! The eel wasn't overcooked and it matched well with the veggies and rice in my bowl. Yum!
Definitely would come back here again! :). -

Heard good things about American Sushi House, so naturally had to come check it out.
Fast and friendly service which is not typical of asian restaurants.
I opted for the all you can eat special which cost $22. Each individual roll cost roughly $11-13. A friend and I ordered 4 rolls which is a good deal and saved us about $8. The rolls are gigantic. I had asked the waiter about the portion sizes and he explained, "we serve American sized portions."
Overall, an above average quality sushi spot at a reasonable price, with nice staff. -

Mmmmm sushi! A colleague suggested this place so we came here to have dinner. I ordered 3 rolls and before I could even finish one whole roll, I was already full. He got the bento box combo dinner of tempura and chicken teriyaki. Came here another time and got two rolls instead...full tummy. Lesson learned!
They give you this fried pancake thing (on the house) that's sooooooooo delicious! The soy kinda sauce makes it even better!
We always get great service whenever we come here and we even have one of their frequent eater cards. =) I think it's a little pricey but eh.... -
Review from Jade W.
Pretty solid sushi house and I'm usually not a fancy dancy sushi roll kind of gal - ordered 3 rolls
Pacifica Roll - similar to a rainbow roll but filled with tempura shrimp with a surprise of cream cheese. Def out of the box for me but a nice surprise and delish
Futo Maki - I know this place is Korean owned this was a super expensive and much larger kim bap you find as street food in Korea. A few more veggies and not served with kimchi. A bit pricey for not containing any fish and delish! My favorite of the bunch!
spicy Scallop roll - same as everywhere and good
overall everything was solid and well priced. I wished that they had kim chi sides (considering their Korean owned and all) -

Montara, CA
Worst sushi experience I have had in a long time. The quality of the fish was very poor. The only fish that was good was the fresh salmon. The rolls were 70 percent rice and skimpy on the main ingredients. beef teriyaki tasted like dog food (even my 4 year old wouldn't eat it). The edamame was squishy and cold. They get one star for a very good customer service and another for an extra star for the delicious soup and tasty salad.
I am not coming back. -

I love this place. I know that the huge size of the roll is attributed mostly to the rice, but I LOVE the food! The rolls all taste so delicious to me. I have been a regular here for years and still crave the food. :) My favorite are the A's and Y2K rolls. Yummmm! I never really get anything other than the rolls here though so I cannot comment on that.
I miss the old sushi chef, though. I don't know what happened to him but seeing him was definitely a plus when coming here. He always provided top notch service. The servers are also very nice and attentive. The owner is also extremely friendly. -

Sushi Restaurant run by Koreans.
Free chewy, cheesy Korean pancake on the house with spicy sauce
The menu indicates that they serve "Ramen" as well as "Korean tofu soups" and I think they should sell that instead of sushi.
Sushi review: A lot of rice and the Spicy Tuna did not taste too fresh. The Unagi didn't taste like regular Unagi either. Ranges $3.95-$4.95)
Weak green tea
Overall --- the service was good and the place was homey.
I don't recommend the Sushi here.
Parking - easy lot -

My friends and I had a small reunion here and I must say I was impressed by their rewards system. I think is something along the lines of for every $ so spent, you get a stamp. My friend redeemed a good amount of stamps and they gave us a whole bottle of sake to take home!
I was very, very impressed by this. As for the sushi, I cannot recall the names of them, but I really enjoyed the baked ones. One of them reminded me of the lion king roll from Sushi House in Alameda. It was a baked california roll with salmon and some type of white of sauce poured over it.
Also, one thing I was impressed about was that we were the only other table that was in there on a Sunday night at 6:30p.m. By 7:00pm the entire place was packed! I had no idea many locals went here.
The only thing I'd have to say is that it is a bit hard to find the place, as it is not easily visible from the streets surrounding this little plaza.
I'd definitely come back here. -

I enjoy coming here. The servers and the sushi chefs are really friendly and welcoming. Water is always filled, always checked on to make sure everything is okay. The sushi is good. Some rolls are bigger than I can stuff in my mouth, but that doesn't bother me.

This is a typical small Japanese restaurant. It's pretty authentic, but a bit bland for me. Soy sauce couldn't even save it. There is this food challenge that's for $39.95. It looked huge! The specifics of the challenge are posted on the wall and placards on every table. Overall, decent prices for just decent rolls.

Review from Allan Y.
I heard about this place because of the quantity of food served. I was told this place has huge platters of sashimi for a reasonable price. Plus they do some sort of food challenge where if you eat a 4.37lb sushi roll in like 32 minutes you get your picture on the wall and a free body fat measurement (or something like that). BUT don't be fooled by its name or by its looks or even its cheesy eating challenge gimmick. American Sushi House is the REAL DEAL.
I am usually weary of the quality of a Japanese restaurant if they have a Sushi Combo A through D on the menu, which of course comes with miso soup and salad. Unimaginative name generally equates to unimaginative tastes. But alas this place surprised me.
They have your very generic sushi offerings that are fitting of a place named American Sushi House. They even have an all you can eat sushi deal for $21 plus an all you can drink sake deal for $10. Again this place sounds like every frat bro's favorite sushi spot.
My friend and I ordered fried soft shell crab for an appetizer and shared a Super Super X Roll and $50 plate of sashimi (which is approximately 50 pieces).
The soft shell crab was crisp and crunchy and overall very tasty. It wasn't soggy and mushy, which are key indicators for old fried food. Okay doing good so far.
They even brought out us a free potato pancake thing. Thanks guys!
The Super Super X Roll, which sounds like the name of a really bad game show. This was surprisingly better than okay. This was made with oyster tempura. You get six pieces, three of which were sweet and three of which were spicy.
The plate of sashimi was enormous and incredibly fresh. It had all of my favorites including: yellowtail, ahi tuna, touro, etc etc. $50 for 50 pieces? That seems like a pretty good deal too me considering how fresh the fish was. Like buttah.
Overall, I enjoyed my eating experience here. The food was good; the sashimi was exceptional. I also enjoyed the service here. The servers are friendly and funny. Good times indeed. Next time I am here I will for sure tackle their $100 for 100 pieces of sashimi platter. Mmm. -

Not bad for a place you can get all-you-can-eat. I got stuffed. Was slightly disappointed that some items were excluded from the all-you-can-eat menu. The hosts were very friendly.

In the Bay Area's wonderful culinary landscape, this very bizzare phenomenon has taken hold where you can find sushi - errr, fish that is cut by Chinese cooks in places that lack that wonderful Japanese hospitality those of us who have experienced appreciate.
I love Sushi. Real sushi: Quality Sashimi that boasts serious knife skills that only a talented sushi chef can produce. I love Japanese hospitality - the bowing and smiling, the kind, courteous service that reminds you that no matter how rude people in the world are, there are other people who carry themselves with the epitome of class Asians are notorious for: grace, kindness, excellence.
American Sushi house is not your ordinary restaurant - but it can be found in the most ordinary and unsuspecting of places - the cursed Fairmont mall where none of the businesses are anything to rave about. Until now. . . this place. The space is not large, but you can make reservations and they have a small private room for a party of 10.
These are the things I love about this place based on my visits:
101 types of Sake (I love the highest quality ones)
100 piece assorted sashimi plate (great for about 6 hungry people)
Incredibly fresh sashimi options
Toro Tataki special
Hamachi Sashimi
Gyoza regular and vegan green ones (GET THE GREEN ONES!)
Private room for a party of 10
Chad, the bestest server
Very busy takeout
Free, abundant parking in the lot outside
When you visit, you get a rewards card that is good for wonderful things for free like (I will only list the ones I like - you can see my photos for the entire list): medium sake, large beer, agedashi tofu, baked mussels, gyoza, or combo tempura.
Nice little extra dishes of yummies they give to you for free before your meal and after is really sweet.
Don't forget to share a shot of your great bottle of sake with your sushi chef and your server. Then again, you already knew that because you have great manners.
Kampai! Unless you are hardcore drinker, then Banzai!!
Thanks to my beautiful Yelp buddy and real life friend Angela L. for inviting me to dinner here my first time - it was definitely not my last!
I do not come here for the rolls - I come for the amazingly delicious and fresh Sashimi and the gorgeous silky smooth top shelf Sake. I love you American Sushi House!Listed in: Dress Down Eats!, Makin' My Mom Proud!

Came here to see the freedom roll, which is this gigantic 4 pound monstrosity with a bunch of ingredients piled on. I didn't do the actual challenge since I'm getting too old to subject myself to that kind of punishment, but between two grown men we were able to finish the whole thing. It was really pretty delicious, though it doesn't have that much fish. This place also has an all you can eat option for about the same price as half the freedom roll. That might be a better option to try out different flavors with more fish on it. The service here was also really friendly.

My hubby and I waltzed into this place on Friday night, and unlike Kamameshi in South City, which I love, this place wasn't crowded at all. We found this place via GPS. Right when I walked in, there was a laminated picture of competitive eater, Joey Chestnut, who finished their six pound "Freedom Roll" in three minutes and some change. I took a minute to look it over, and the rules explicitly say no vomiting or bathroom breaks, and I couldn't help but snicker.
The next thing I noticed was that my husband was having one heck of a time trying to understand the waiter's thick accent, and I would have to try and be sly about interpreting for him. Also, the menus were sticky. Meh.
I looked at the rolls, and none of them have the price next to the item, first of all. I picked the Pacifica roll, which has tempura shrimp, avocado, and cream cheese, topped with 7 kinds of fish. Decent, but... not worth over ten bucks that we paid for it. Also, the rolls are super repetitive - almost all of them have crab (read: imitation crab, which I'm allergic to), so it severly limited what I could order.
They come out with their free "Japanese style pancake" on the house, which is honestly really yummy, but -- it looked like ours was missing a slice, whereas the table next to us got one that looked quite whole.
My husband ordered a nigiri platter, but couldn't touch it because he didn't know there was wasabi underneath the fish. When the waiter noticed my husband didn't eat it, he immediately sent the chef over - the chef also had a thick accent, and my husband again had a difficult time understanding, but they simply came to the understanding that the chef will automatically but wasabi unless otherwise specified - my poor hubby! He asked for the spicy mayo (which is basically just kewpie mayo and sriracha) and was told it would be an extra charge. This is the ONLY place I've ever been to that does that!
Also -- none of the rolls have Masago. NONE. I was sorely disappointed. Also, their Philadelphia rolls area good dollar or two more expensive than their competitors.
On the plus side, because of the wasabi misunderstanding, we both got free green tea ice cream, which I loved.
I would really only want to give this place two stars, because it's tiny, not particularly clean, overpriced, and has a very meager selection but all the comps earn them an extra star. -

Not recommended.
I came here a couple of times back in high school (um, 7 years ago?). It was good, but not particularly memorable. After high school I had little business hanging out in Pacifica, so I hadn't returned until about a month ago. I had a fair amount of confidence in this place since it was getting a lot of high reviews, including those from my own friends.
Service was good, but I felt that the food quality was a little lacking. In additional to a couple of sushi rolls, we ordered some sashimi on special, and it did not taste fresh. It was hard to finish.
Plus, we had to listen to a woman (solo customer) complain to the owner/itamae about legal issues she was having. Something about suing people. I think a car accident was involved. Hard to enjoy your meal when someone is xitching loudly about personal issues. Props to the owner for humoring her, though.
Nothing worth coming back for. My experience here has cemented 8 Sushi as my local go-to for sushi. It's up Skyline, less than a mile away. -

We were supposed to try J.A.C. on the other side of the plaza, we got there a little before 9 and the place was closed, no lights, no cars, no one's there - CLOSED! On their Yelp page it says they are open till 10:00 p.m. but on the door it says 9:00 p.m.. FAIL.
So we look around and found this place. They have some unique choices for special rolls. We went with the Golden Gate roll and the Dragon roll and both were good. Not amazing, but good. We also had the beef teriyaki and the tempura and those were both good too.
But what really made this dinner special was our server, Chad. He's one of those people that seem to actually enjoy his job. He was amazingly nice. I'd come back just because of him. Thanks Chad! :) -

I didn't know there was a Japanese restaurant in this plaza until a friend took me there. I had a quick run through of the menu and was surprised to see prices on the high side. But kept an open mind. We were both starving so we ordered a lot of food. We split a Caterpillar roll and I was disappointed at how there was hardly any eel just avocado and rice. I had the combination dinner with beef and sashimi. The dinner came with a many slices of beef and at least 6-7 thicker slices of sashimi. The bonus was the potato pancake which they included with no extra charge. It was too much food so I had leftovers. The food is ok and the wait staff was friendly. There seem to be a lot of regulars who come here to pick up take-out from this restaurant.
When it came time to pay the bill, it was $25 per person. I consider that expensive because I normally pay about $15-$20 and can get a 3-item Bento and a roll. It's a decent place to go if you're in this area. -

I went here Thursday night, trying to find a japanese restaurant in Pacifica. Our first choice restaurant had a bad parking space so we went here instead. The guy who sat us down was very welcoming. Once we got the menus I decided right away I wanted to try the special which was the tofu soon soup (spicy). We decided to try the green edamame gyoza for our appetizer. The gyozas tasted like fried tortellinis, I thought it was good especially with the sauce. They also gave us this bean sprout pancake which was on the house and it was pretty good. We were confused at first when she brought it in because all she said it was a pancake. They brought out our food, I was surprised that my soup came with rice. I love spicy food, my soup was the perfect kind of spicy. I don't mind coming back next time to try out the other foods. Service was good since it was a small restaurant. I noticed that they have a lot of regulars who go here.

"Woohoo! As good as it gets!"
Yes. It is.
If it weren't for the calorie content of giant sushi rolls, I'd be coming here more often. But during the times that I've come here I have been very pleased with everything: the service, the food, and the price.
It's plain and simple, you get the most for your money. All of their sushi rolls are huge, hence the name "American (sized) Sushi". It's a pleasant surprise when you come here for the first time. And to those who got some sort of policy for paying for your leftovers, you're not paying attention to their menu. I believe that only applies if you decided to get the "all you can eat" sushi. Or at least that's what I remember reading when I went there. Because it's not like a buffet kind of "all you can eat" thing. They make each plate of sushi as you order it. I ate there once with my brother and my mom and we took plenty of leftovers home and didn't pay any sort of fee. So, get your facts right.
They always greet us very nicely when we come in and say "Bye" when we leave. They're always very attentive during the meal, constantly refilling my hot tea and water. If you go for dinner they give you this complimentary fried pancake thing.
I don't care what anyone says, I love this place. It is definitely one of the top sushi places I've been to. So in my opinion, American Sushi is as good as it gets. -

American Sushi is great. I love the Mexican Burrito Roll. The people there remember you and are very friendly. Prices are decent. Miso is delicious.
Definitely worth a shot.
Also, Fuck their "free" pancake. We are given the "free" pancake everytime, and it's lost it's "oh wow, they like us" effect. -

I'm going to give these guys 5 stars because I want to.
My Japanese friend tells me that good sushi should look like a piece of art. He describes not only super fresh fish but every grain of rice needs to be perfect, not too soft but not too hard. Not only is cooking the rice exceedingly important but the rice to air ratio needs to be perfect in every ball of rice. It's no good if it's tightly pressed together. It's no good if the rice are falling apart. Will this restaurant get a 5 star stamp of approval from my friend.... NO! But for me, someone who was born and raised in the Bay Area and feels that I know Japanese food and thinks my Japanese friend is kind of crazy and no restaurant would ever satisfy him but whatever, this restaurant is A-OK.
I think they earn a solid 3 stars for quality of food. There's a lot of rice but I don't really mind. The fish taste fresh and the sauce is better than most. I give them another star for selection. The menu is huge and you can almost find any combination of ingredients. I will add the final star for service. I cannot think of another restaurant in the Bay Area (of course discounting those that you pay over $100 per person) with more consistent good service. You just feel welcomed here and that's important to me. -

I came here for lunch with my boyfriend since we've both have been craving sushi and our favorite sushi spot that we usually go to is like an hour away so we decided to try this place out. On Yelp, it says it opens at 11am while on their door it says they open at 1130am. My boyfriend and I ended up just sitting in the car till 1130 to go in, lol.
Anyways, I ordered the lunch bento box with tempura and beef teriyaki while my boyfriend ordered the spider roll and mountain roll. They gave us some complimentary fried pancake thing. It sort of reminded me of a Filipino dessert. The beef teriyaki was disgusting. The meat seemed old and it wasn't even hot. I ended up just eating the salad and tempura instead. The mountain roll was our favorite but really messy to eat. The spider roll was huge! I didn't really like it though cause there was some ginger (I think that's what it was) inside it that I didn't really like so it just killed my taste buds. In the end, our waiter gave us an awards card. After you spend $200 there, you get a free appetizer.
FYI: The rolls are $10+. The price isn't given on their menu (the one with pictures on it). My boyfriend and I didn't even know till we got our check -____-, loll -

I am so tempted to take on their sushi challenge and succeed.
But I doubt that will ever happen anytime soon.
This place is great. I'm a little iffy on their over-pricing, but I think the food is worth the money. They have a great variety of unique sushi rolls (I love the 49er roll. Not because it's named after my favorite team, but also because it has avocado, unagi, AND salmon.. my favorite sushi trio!) The service is great here, too. I don't like how they close for lunch at 2pm, though. -

very cheap during lunch time...My daughter and I ordered the bento box with the three items to choose from. They gave us the free pancake they call it...this was so good esp. the sauce. The tempura was so good, except they only give one shrimp...but everything is else is perfect. The california roll was already filling and we don't need to order another one. Usually, they only give 4 or it's very small that's why it makes you order another one...but this one was pretty big.
I will definitely go back here for lunch. Another place to add in my favorites. -

San Bruno, CA
So a few things. To start with, note that I'm trying to be stingy with 5 star ratings. I don't like grade inflation. Also, I'm addicted to the Honey Walnut Ebi Roll from Sunshine Sushi in San Bruno and so any place that doesn't offer that roll gets docked automatically.
Enough blather, on to the review. I think I figured out why this place seems to be so polarizing, and I know what the solution is. Many of us Amerrican (long r, that's deliberate) consumers of sushi have long ago realized that most sushi places have what we would define as "small" portion sizes (despite those portions being completely sane, roll with me here). So we've learned to compensate by over-ordering.
Now you walk into the very appropriately named American Sushi House, and you do your usual ordering shtick, and then the portions come and WHABAM it's too much food, and your bill seems oversized and you cry foul. But there's an obvious solution here...order less food!
My experience here was excellent. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was high quality, except the beef teriyaki that was gristly. The rolls were delicious, but they are BIG, and yes a lot of that size comes from extra rice.
So if you're going to try this place, my advice is just to order cautiously. A single house special roll is really enough food for any normal person. I ate a house special roll and two of the normal rolls. I can barely move. -
Review from Janice T.
Not bad. I went for Saturday lunch. No wait.
I liked that it is located in the mall, so I can run errands and get some food + Starbucks in the same parking spot.
I tried their hamachi sashimi meal for $14.95. It was not bad. Good 10 slices of hamachi with rice and miso and salad. However, miso was big portion and it was kinda bland. Probably the most bland miso soup I have ever tried. I guess, they used too much water.
My mom tried their Lunch Bento 3 items for $9.95. Not bad. The Teriyaki Beef was a bit fat, but not dry. The sashimi slices of 2 tuna and 2 salmon were good. The saba shioyaki was decent.
I do like it they give free korean pancake. It is thin and if it is too cold, gets too hard to chew. But sure, for free, why not.
I also saw other items on the menu I'd like to try. Power Lunch is $9.95 with main meal and a side of sushi. I think that's pretty good price for a main course (udon, etc...) and side item (sashimi, etc...). They also have $21.95 all you can eat sushi. Good idea, but I am not an all you can eat person.
I'd go back if I am in the area. -

Been here only 4/5 times. They always give you a free pancake appetizer thing and say it's on the house. On top of that, the service is really good here. But because of that, I always feel the need to tip more (bad for my wallet.)
I wouldn't come here for anything but the rolls. Every bento item my friends have tried have been meh.. If you're a fan of giant rolls (half of it rice,) then this place is for you. -

I've read a couple other reviews of this place here in the Yelp-verse, and I'm kinda wondering WTF the other reviewers are talking about. Did we go to the same American Sushi House?
First off - the portions are indeed huge. My hubby and I ordered an appetizer each and a roll each, and that was more than enough to fill us up. If you go here, order a little, then order more if you need to. The rolls DO have a lot of rice, but if you take away the excess of rice, the toppings and filling are equivalent to a "regular" sushi roll.
Second - I don't know what the whole "leftover charge" is that people were talking about, but we had a large container full of leftovers (even with how little we ordered!) and there was no additional fee on our bill for taking leftovers home.
The staff here is almost excessively friendly... my tea was never empty and as soon as we were done with a dish they wisked it off the table. It didn't feel like they were hovering though. My only real complaint is that the menu, while large, is a little confuddling. I'm still *fairly* new to sushi, and while they have all of their house specialty rolls in the back, they don't list the "basic" rolls - you just kind of have to know what to ask for.
All that being said, the food is yummy. A little over-priced, but definitely yummy. We'll probably go back again, maybe for the all-you-can-eat sushi, or maybe if we have a coupon...Listed in: Wombat Eats Things

This place is HORRIBLE! Upon entering the waiter told us about their leftover policy. "We will charge you $6 for leftovers and $1.50 each piece." His face looked like this -____- unhappy and grumpy. It was my first time there and I wanted to really like this place but there were just too many fails.
Don't ever subject yourself to a sushi restaurant that wants to fill you up with rice. They make their rolls with SOOOO little fish and SOOOOO much rice so that you will feel satisfied and full. What a way to bamboozle the average joe into paying full price for half quality.
The all you can eat is a trap. They get you full off of "free pancakes" and extra rice in your rolls that you literally are too afraid to order more or get your monies worth because of their left over policy. A policy that they like to repeat if you try ordering more. NOT that one SHOULD order more because with that much rice in a roll you wouldn't need more than one roll. I say it's a waste of money. Shaking my damn head at places that rob consumers of good quality sushi.
I think its HILARIOUS that this place is called, AMERICAN Sushi house. First of all, if diabetes is infecting our nation and as more restaurants are trying to serve healthier items to its customers, this place is the complete opposite. They want to stuff you with rice because its cheaper for them to give out more rice than it is to dish out fish or the real ingredients in your sushi.
These types of places are not healthy for your body or your wallet. Sushi is an art and these chefs aren't in it for the passion of serving great food to consumers they are in it for the money. Don't let them take your money and serve you this crap. PLEASE! Try another place... Sushi Raw in San Bruno is a good start. ;) Hope this helps! -

The American Sushi house has come highly recommended to me. The only problem is...I don't really like sushi. However I wanted to try this place because of all the good things I heard about it.
I ordered the chicken teriyaki and some tempura. As I was waiting for my food, I was pleasantly surprised when the server brought as a complimentary appetizer. I thought it was a potato pancakes, but he told me it was a flour cake. Very nice of them to day that! The tempura and teriyaki were very good as well. I will definitely come back with someone who likes sushi so they can try it and tell me what they think - but I loved the service and the food the first time around. -

Great food and service in Pacifica!
They are so nice to families here. It is always a treat for everyone. The chefs go out of their way to prepare special things for the kids and entertain them.
They put rubber bands on the chopsticks for the kids to practice with.
For the adults, there is an eating challenge that I have seen some people succeed at. Give it a try! -

This is the kind of restaurant that you typically see in irving street or geary in San Francisco except HERE there's no metered parkings, there's freebies, its near the freeway and AND it offers BOTH a little KOREAN and JAPANESE mix....and a little bit of DOWNTOWN SF with the oysters :)...
Eating here is comforting, relaxing and warm. -

I agree with a previous comment about rice rolls...I left here kind of disappointed with the food. It was a TON of white rice (mind you, they don't offer brown, and while I do understand that traditional sushi is made with white, they also offer a Mexican Burrito Sushi Roll on the menu, so not really sure where they are drawing the line here...) The seafood wasn't anything amazing, and the shredded crab was very obviously imitation. All in all I had to use ample soy sauce to really taste anything. The service was friendly and we were very amused by the giant sushi roll challenge (Eating a 4lb sushi roll in under 30 minutes sans puking=FREE!) Honestly that's probably the only reason I would ever go back-to act a fool and conquer that challenge...

I'm surprise that this place got plenty of 5 stars. I'm sorry but these ppl haven't had good sushi.
This place is soooo not worth the price you're paying for. You're better off going to kome for lunch buffet for $11 dollars and still have decent sushi. On top of it, for every 4th and after piece you don't eat, you get charge $6 dollars. To put it plainly, You're basically paying 21 dollars to eat rice. I'm not exaggerating. When they say the portions are big, the first thing i thought of is that there are more slices in a roll. Not a fat up roll.
And Okay, it wouldn't be soo bad if theres a lot rice on the sushi. But they didn't really prepare the sushi rice correctly. They didn't put enough sushi vinegar in it. So you eat this sushi rice that is basically plain and cold. Almost tasting like a regular rice. (Yes, i know my sushi quality)
All I taste from their sushi is the thick layer of rice, the minuscule very thin slice almost nonexistent piece of unagi/salmon/yellow tail/scallop.
I tried their giants roll. for one thing, they put a dime size of scallops. The cream is very creamy to the point if you have 2 pieces of sushi, you're tired of it already. and theres 8 pieces.
Theres plenty good reviews on sexy roll. I got it, and its pretty much a thick layer of rice to be specific 2 cm thick around the middle part. On the top you get this really thin slice of unagi. And when they say it has tempura in the middle. Its tempura batter.... At this point i'm like. Okay, i understand you want to make money, but this doesn't have shrimp in it? just tempura batter? I'm sorry you're just ripping ppl off. And if you actually want to make money, why not make your sushi quality better.
Atleast they use decent wasabi and not instant powder wasabi. Their ginger is okay.
I guess their definition of American sushi is big proportion and sayonara to quality.
I am only giving 2 stars. 1 star for customer service. Always asking if everything is okay and refilling my tea. and another star because the food was edible. But sorry, The sushi they have here doesn't pass my standard. Will not come back again. -

If you're craving sushi, this would be an awesome location. Portions are huge and the waiters are super duper nice. If you're not sure on what to order they have great recommendations as well. My tea cup was never empty. Actually, I didn't even see the guy refill my cup! Maybe I was distracted by the food... The All You Can Eat is worth it if you can eat at least two rolls. Each house roll is about $10-$12 and the deal is $22. I think my fav is the Sexy roll. The Giant's roll and Fire mt roll is too creamy for my taste.
I was sooooo full after that, my brain decided shut down. There are lots of regulars there and the chefs remember it! They even come out to greet/hug them. Oh! and they give yummy candy with your check! Not cheap mints or gum that lasts 5secs that most asian restaurants give. ANDDD they're Japanese! Not chinese or latino, but Japanese! Rare nowadays isn't it?? I'll be back! -
