What I love about this filipino market is that it is very clean and inviting.  The atmosphere is nice and what's even better is the "turo-turo" food selection they have.

WAY better than DJ Bibingkahan that's for sure.  What's nice too is that they have boxes of Porto's cheese rolls so if you're craving some, no need to drive to downey or la anymore.

OVERALL: Great market with all the basics you would find/look for in a filipino market.  Too bad the location is sort of odd.

As a mini-restaurant, I love the food they serve here. I used to always come here on my lunch break; their price is absolutely affordable and there's a large variety to choose from. As a Filipino Pollo-Pescetarian, there's a limited selection for me to choose from--- a fair amount but not so much. If you're a normal Filipino who eats red meat, then lechon, dinuguan and kaldereta galore! You've found the end of a rainbow! A lot of the time I'm here, I've been tempted to be naughty by breaking my Pollo-Pescetarian ways, but the Pampano or BBQ Chicken with steamed rice always hits the spot!

As a market, it's alright. I like that it's clean and that they sell Porto's goods, but let's face it-- it smells like a fish market (because it is one). Their grocery prices are a little bit above what it should be, but it's okay.

I wouldn't come here to do my grocery shopping, but lunch? Hell yeah, baby!

It's inside the Filipino supermarket! Friend took me here one time for lunch. Servings are huge. I got a two entree plate. Rice + kare-kare + calamares. Yummy in my tummy. I'm salivating just typing up this review. There's plenty parking since it's located in a plaza slash shopping area.

American Ranch & Seafood Market. I've eaten all around this place but never knew that this place served food - prepared foods, cafeteria style, but they serve food is the point.

I'm not reviewing the grocery store but from the little I did see, seems like an authentic Filipino market.

Anyway - a coworker and I ended up here for lunch, and I ate some Filipino food. At first, we didn't realize the ordering system - they have a ticket dispenser that uses the numbering system. Once we figured it out - we were ordering our food within minutes.

I ordered the pork Adobe, squid and rice (well the combo comes with rice). 2 item combo for $7. Not too bad. The pork was so fresh - it was off the stove as the server went back to the kitchen and brought out a whole dishpan. He was pretty generous with my serving too.

The squid was ok. I don't think it was sitting too long because it wasn't soggy yet. Smaller pieces which I don't mind, but I prefer the pieces to be larger.

Overall, the food was ok. I'll have to try the other dishes because some of them looked pretty tasty.

There are some places where it's  good to be the only round eye in the place.  This is one.  Here's what you'll find: fresh fish (don't be afraid of the heads.  They will even grill or fry 'em for ya.  Try heads on shrimp fried - my Filipino friends luv those) , every Asian ingredient you've ever not found elsewhere (think taro root, Tianjin red beans),  fun candies ya haven't seen since the last time you visited Tokyo & all at very reasonable prices!

Couldn't find the large (we're talking huge!) bag of sesame seeds that I bought last time, so I asked. They were very good about looking around, asking others & finally said they just carry the small bag.  Then as I was checking out, someone new came from the back, sought me out & said they carried the toasted sesame seeds in the large bag.  I thanked him but wanted the reg seeds.  I'm a decent toaster.

This is a fun store - full of interesting ingredients.  Go & explore!

This is a place not only to go grocery shopping for Filipino foodstuff, but also to purchase hot Filipino food to go.

Favorite things to get here are the tocino (sweet barbecued pork), fried bangus (milkfish), turon (banana fritters) and barbecue pork or chicken on the skewers. So why cook when you can just stop by here and pick up dinner to go? Just a word of caution: Some of the more popular food items are gone within the first hour of the store opening, so it pays to get there early if you really want something, especially the tocino. It can get REALLY busy on the weekends, especially on Sundays mornings after church.

There is also an adjacent bakery that sells the usual goodies like pan de sal, ensaymada (cheese rolls), not to mention treats from Porto's, which saves driving all the way to Glendale.

One more thing: Debit card payments are only accepted for purchases of $10.00 or more.

Fast and friendly service here as well.

First time in a Filipino store, walked in unknowingly.  Heard the Tagalog on video and immediately thought "ube". Among the frozen items stocked which caught my eye were  frozen coconut milk and even grated coconut.

Found some frozen ube rice balls. They look like mini purple mochi balls. According to the picture on the front of the package, it's added like dumplings to stew. Mystery ingredient alright.

Both cashiers went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. If you're in the market for jicama, this store has an ample supply. Bought a small jicama, the price was less than my neighborhood grocery store and the selection, about 5x more, at least.

The number of hot deli items was staggering. Reminded me of being back in Hawaii at luaus. Mostly meat based so I didn't try any of those. I did pick up a tray of Rainbow Puto which was nearby. I tried one when I got home and was disappointed to taste more of the baking powder than the dessert.

I'm a big fan of Porto's baked goodies, sorry I missed that, oh well, something to look forward to next time I'm in the area.

Okay, so Monkey is bumping this up another star after taking another try at the take out counter...

Dinuguan - I've never liked it as much, until now.  I like it alot.

Kare Kare - Excellent!  Must go for the Large bowl next time.

Mungo - Just can't get enough!

Service is excellent - friendly & patient with each customer.  We went at 5pm, so there was quite a few people waiting.  Since we cannot speak Tagalog, I greatly appreciate the Take A Number system for the wait.  I love how they wrap each container nice and tight and bag it so nothing leaks on the ride home.

Spent over $1000 to cater our daughter's 1st birthday @ Cerritos Park East Community Center. Warren promised delivery @ NOON. We confirmed with him TWICE days before the event.  Today, we called the caterer @ noon and they said they're loading their vehicle and they'll be right there.  Called them @ 12:30p and they said they're loading their vehicle. Called them @ 1:00p and they said they're on their way. They came @ 1:30p; their business is 10-15 minutes away. Pilipino time is such a lame ass excuse.  But they're quick to charge your credit card when you place an order. Really?!?!

They finally arrived w/o apologies, dropped off food and left. They looked upset actually. Didn't tell us they WERE NOT coming back to pick up their equipment after the party. You would think it's the least they can do for being about 90 minutes late. We called them to get their stuff and they said they had no available drivers.  Instead of packing up gifts and taking an exhausted 1 year old home, we had to go out of our way to pack up their equipment to drop off, then go back to Cerritos Park East to get gifts, etc. before going home to the South Bay. What a pain in the ass!

Supposedly Warren tried to call to apologize, but we have no missed calls or voice mail on our phones. Thank goodness the food was all right which is the only good thing I can say about that place. You can eat there, but don't have them cater your event 'cuz you're going to get pissed off since Warren can't keep promises, unless you're ok with Pilipino time. He wasn't there when we returned their stuff either (even though I overheard a lady say in Tagalog he was). We wanted to sign something showing we returned everything but they said no it's ok; didn't check - just took the stuff.  Shady, don't you think?  The guy we talked to assured us Warren will call.  Still waiting after 3.5 hours of being told. Maybe, he'll call tomorrow? Right...

Don't have time to make your own Filipino food, or just don't know how to make it? This is the place to go. They have a good selection of Filipino food. There are a few occasions when they run out. They have seating inside and outside. There are times when it gets busy and you would need a friend or significant other to save an open table. They also sell the usual products that you would normally see in a place like this.

Came here for their Filipino prepared food, my 3rd time trying this type of food. I had an order of the pork adobo and the menudo top on a bed of rice. The menudo was the best i ever had, right on point and seasonings too. The adobo on the other hand was good but really fattening. Very reasonable prices here. Big portion as well. Will come by to satisfy my hunger for Filipino food.

Shopping here is ok.  You are probably better off shopping at 99 Ranch if you are comparing prices.  But the one thing that sets this place apart from the rest is the little to go place they have inside.

For Kare-Kare lovers out there they have the BEST Kare-Kare!  The other foods are good, but a bit greasy.  They do have a large selection of food to choose from.

Definately the place I like to go when I am craving Filipino food to go!

This was a totally random find.  It was driving on Artesia Boulevard after getting some gas around 1:00 PM and saw their sign and decided to take a look. I was expecting to find a Whole Foods type place.  But it's a full on Filipino market, complete with Filipino style breads, desserts, a fish market, and prepared foods. The TV was blaring as the Filipino TV station gave reports on typhoons and weather on the islands. After my experience here, I'm thinking they ought to change their name to Fil-American Ranch and Seafood Market.

The building still seems new.  Overall, the place seems clean.  There is a teeny bit of the 99 Ranch market smell when you get near the fresh fish area.  But when I left here, I didn't smell like a fish factory like at 99 Ranch. They have at least 20 varieties of fresh looking whole fish on tables with ice on top and under.  I don't know how fresh it is, but rigor mortis hadn't set in yet in some of the ones other customers were touching.   There was also a butcher shop had beef, chicken, and pork.

The produce section is small. This time of the year in October, the number of product items starts to wane without the peaches, plums, plouts, and apricots, etc.  They did have the usual apples pineapples, melons, and Asian vegetables such as long beans, bitter gourd (umpalaya), Japanses. long eggplant (talong), bok choy, and regular American veggies.  They also had the manzano small bananas, the macho platanos, green papaya, ripe yellow papaya, and mangoes.

There were a few items of many things, unlike Seafood City that has at least double the variety and number of items on the shelves. They had various tropical juices including mango, guava, calamansi (calamondin), and coconut.  There were some sodas from the Philippines as well as Vietnam. Lots of staple items such as noodles such as bihon and bean thread.

This has the best looking Filipino cafeteria food around.  I am not a fan of Filipino cafeteria food.  However, the dishes made here are fresh and have eye appeal -  even though they're in metal trays at 1:15 PM. You can see red bell pepper slices still turgid with shape, the yellow squash with green skin on, and the bright red tomato color on the (blech to me) Spaghetti with hot dog. I always though that was one dish that would kill the image of Filipino food being delicious.  There are places to sit inside.

I just opted to buy some desserts, including the coconut covered sapin-sapin, fruit salad, and the Ube Halaya which is great for taro fans. It is really a good find if you want some Filipino food staples and ready to munch on food.

Hungry? Too lazy to cook? Don't want to spend an arm and a leg on dinner? Well get off the 91 freeway and visit this place for the to go food. There are tons of dishes to choose from and all of the ones I have tasted have been really really good. I order the combo and they load a heapful of food on your to go plate. This is not your panda express where you only get a small scoop each. Expect to have left overs for each combo you buy. I always have left overs good for my lunch the next day. It's a full service marketplace but I only go here for the cooked food.

My faves are the tapa, kare kare, beef steak, and chicken adobo with quail eggs...as you can see my choices are limited to just the meat dishes. They also have desserts like bibingka, turon and even cheese rolls from Portos. The best part is you get your money's worth...only $6 - $6.50 for a generous sized combo.

by far the CLEANEST asian supermarket i have seen. yeah, it could be that its because its new.   Its on the corner of Pioneer and South Street, by the KFC and across from the Fire department. in the same area as  pinoy pinay, red ribbon...behind the Korean BBQ buffet place.  I dont recall the plaza name, but the plaza is new with other stores around too. I'm not sure why they refer to it as "American" since the products are predominantly Asian, but to each his own.

When you enter the store youll see the grocery aisle to the right, and the fresh meat and seafood to the back of that.  to the left is a mini eatery, like a point point joint.  Their food ranges in prices.  You can get small medium and large quantities from $2 - 12.  You can get combos also i think ranging from $5-7.  depends on if you get meat and seafood, all seafood, all meat...you get my drift.  They prepare and sell typical asian foods, many types of fried foods (fish, eggrolls, turon..mmm...mini turon) as well as the stews and such. you can even sit down there if you wanted, with a cafe like seating area inside.

In the same area they have their baked goods.  I dont think they prepare those themselves.  the best part! they SELL PORTOS CHEESE ROLLS AND GUAVA ROLLS! no lie!  the boxes, well the grease soaked through them....but better on the box than in your stomach right?  so happy since sometimes someone craves a good cheese roll and burbank is a drive...

i took a couple pictures, but im not a photographer so interpret how you wish...

so all in all i gave it four stars...the food was fresh and looked appetizing, but there was something missing in the flavor department.  I did enjoy the turon (4 for $1). nevertheless, i shall be back....

Clean store but dead blue crabs.  I bought canned young coconut juice + pandan pudding.  I didn't see the Porto's cheese rolls.  I'd go back to try breakfast.   Employees are conscientious about keeping carts out of parking spaces.

Going to 99 Ranch afterwards made me realize that I didn't see any parking 'tards with crooked cars here.  I didn't notice a smell inside.  If you're not familiar with Filipino food, the steam table labels do not elaborate on ingredients.  Most of the customers are at the prepared food section.  My parents buy sweet and sour fish here but that is just okay because sometimes there are bony parts.

Not the right sweet or thin soy sauce for Thai food.  Prepared meals corner plays Filipino dramas loudly.  The labuyo hot sauce seems twice as much as at Seafood City.  There was barely anyone in the aisles outside of a couple of workers who kept arranging jars after a clerk passing by noticed me take photographs.  What is up with the blue cake roll?

The only Filipino grocery store I know that consistently carry my fave junk foods: Mr. Chips and V-cut.  That alone makes me happy enough to reward this store with 4 stars.

The store is clean and I didn't get assaulted with weird seafood-ish smell associated with Asian grocery stores when I entered the place. I'm sure this place has been open awhile but whenever I come, there's me and maybe 2-3 other people shopping. No rude shoppers bumping their carts to other people... wait, that's me. lol.

I also tried their readymade food and I would say it's a notch better than the usual turo-turo [point point] place. For a less greasy option, try their beef steak tagalog and grilled dishes.

3 stars because ur kare-kare is really really good. Ur bagoong that comes with it lately has been salty but still at least it's cooked compared to the other pink raw bagoongs they put in with kare-kare that's gross. Most of the dishes are good far from the dishes of Pinoy-Pinay and of course a looooot of selections. You wont even tell its from a turo-turo place.

But recently, their prices increased to I dont know what their basis was. The packed green mangoes from $6.99 are now $9.99. I would understand  maybe a few bucks but $3 on mangoes, are u kidding me??? Wonder what else has increased in this place. Aside from the grocery items thats always been more expensive than seafood city or island pacific.

I don't shop here for groceries, but they do have a great fast-food Filipino corner. When my mom's too lazy to cook dinner, she likes to come here to order food. They're food is really good, not too greasy, & not too salty.

I would recommend trying the spaghetti (all time fave), hot & spicy chicken wings, the turon, kare-kare, pork asado...etc...etc..

The line can get long after people get off of work, so don't get pissed if someone tries to cut you! haha

The only thing I didn't like was the calamari, it was TOO crispy, it tasted like chicharon!

I hardly like eating Filipino food outside of my house because what's the point of buying it when your mom can make it at home, but this place passes and great for those on-the-go people who need to feed their families without being stressed!

This is the cleanest Filipino market that I've ever been to in the history of my existence (which is saying a lot).  The fresh fish section doesn't smell fishy and the free fish fry area smells great.  Their turo-turo food place has decent Filipino food, and I'm extremely OCD when it comes to that type of cuisine.  I can find almost anything Filipino here, and it's less busier than Island Pacific.

For all you Porto's cheese roll lovers in the Long Beach/ Lakewood/ Cerritos area.. you no longer have to journey all the way to Glendale to satisfy your cheesey roll needs.. Porto's delivers them here and sells it by the dozen for about 13$. It's tucked near the take out section of the market.. make sure you grab the one in the Porto's box for they have another brand in clear takeout containers. They always taste fresh and never had I bought any that were stale..
Now on to the takeout foods.. Lutong Bahay offers Filipino food staples such as adobo, kare kare, soups, BBQ, pancit, turon, and fried fish. You can order as a combo or a la cart. Their catering service is popular and so is the breakfast. This was actually where I had my first Filipino breakfast. Never knew anything about garlic fried rice before until the boyfriend introduced it to me.The Filipinos have been keeping this a secret.. keeping it to themselves.. such a simple recipe but so delicious.  Since then I've had garlic fried rice elsewhere but Lutongs has always been my favorite. Breakfast is offered from 8am to 10 and includes corned beef, longinisa (sweet Filipino sausage), beef tapa (my fave), eggs, tocino, and fish. A combo comes with garlic fried rice or white rice, eggs, coffee, and a choice of meat for 3.99$. That's pretty cheap considering all the food you get. And if you wanna eat there.. they have many bar like seats and tables.
As for the market, it contains the usual Filipino grocery items, fresh produce, meat and frozen food, native desserts, and baked goods.
If you sign up for their email club on their website, they will give you a coupon for 5% off.
So come have breakfast, do a little shopping, watch some TFC, take a box of Porto's home, and be happy!
