Please visit this place, please. It must, it just must stay in business!

We had three pieces of pie here, sour cream apple, blueberry, and key lime. The key lime was very, very good. A tad bit bit on the pudding side with the filling, but OH SO tart and tangy. Best key lime flavor I've tasted in a very long time.

The sour cream apple and blueberry slices were definitely to die for. My mom makes some of the best blueberry pie around and I can honestly say she has some competition with the one at American Pie.

And of course the crust makes the pie. Every crust was wonderful, sweet, flakey... I could have just eaten that part of the pie and been happy.

If you have not had alforjores; try American Pie's. Just one will fill you up quickly (but of course, we had two!).

Although the pies were fab, the place could use a little sprucing up in the sitting area. Leave it kind of eclectic and fun, but make it feel more inviting and not so cold.

Pie is like the new cupcake.

Pie places seem to be popping up everywhere in Seattle.  The trend has yet to hit Tacoma.  Maybe next year.  We eventually catch up.  *Sigh*

So, when I saw American Pie, I assumed it was American, like eagles, and apple Pie American.  This place is ran by South Americans.  Huh.  Oh yeah, the other America.  Even more interesting.

So, when we came in, no one came to the front for a while.  When someone did come, he was kind of mumbling.  We finally deciphered that he was having trouble with his oven and several other things.   In the end, these mishaps meant we didn't get to taste one the main pies we came for:  the beer and beef pie.  Wah.

Friend and I did have the seco pie, which was decent, but lacked some good old salt.  The surprise, however, was the sour cream apple pie.  Generally, I don't gravitate to apple pie, but there was something addictingly good about this pie.  The apples were perfectly tart and sweet, still had a tiny bit of snap left to them and it was all glued together with this amazing (sour) cream.  We also had the key lime pie, which had great flavors, but for whatever reason didn't work for us.  I'm not sure if it was the texture or what.

At any rate, this place has perfected their crust.  I usually leave the crust, but this crust was gone in my belly.  Perfectly, buttery and flaky.

Those other Americans are a-ok, I tell ya.

The other plus are some of the locals.  They seemed very chit chatty, and friendly.  I almost feel like I wanted to go until everybody knew my name, and they were always glad I came...

and I'm back.  I'll definitely go back to try the beef pie.

    LOVE DA PIE!
This place has FOOD to back it up, not just hype.
Tried the sweet little pie for $2.75, Like a mini Pecan pie. I could inhale five more easily.
Hope it's around for a long long time in this economy.

With all of the popular pie places popping up everywhere, this is a refreshing low key reasonably priced place the competes with the best. And I have to say of the 2 kinds of pie we tried, my favorite sweet was the Peruvian creme filled shortbread. Yum!
We tried the chicken pot pie and chocolate pie to round out the mid day meal. My coworker who normally hates chicken pot pie actually liked this one and the triple chocolate pie impressed me - who originally went for the lemon pie, but the owner graciously told us it hadn't properly set and offered the chocolate as an alternative.
I love the Peruvian influence with the American Pie theme, reasonable prices, and unpretentious atmosphere. Seems pretty fitting for Georgetown.

Got me a beef & aji amarillo empanada for my afternoon snack.  Delish!  Will be back for more.

(Btw, aji amarillo is a type of South American yello chili pepper, predominantly found in Peru.  Oh, and the empanada's not bad cold, reheated it in the office microwave, that made it soo much better.   Should've taken the owner's rec of having them reheat in oven, but had to get back to the office.)

Good pie doesn't come along very often. Pie is either good, or it isn't, and the thing that makes or breaks it is the crust.

My fella and I stopped by American Pie yesterday and tried the Strawberry-Rhubarb. It was the most spot-on rendition of this seasonal classic that I've had in a long time. It wasn't overly sweet, and managed to have just the right ratio of strawberries to rhubarb pieces. Everyone knows that rhubarb's tang can get out of control.

Most importantly, the crust was solid. Really--it is actually pretty good. This comes from someone who spent weeks and tons of flour in the attempt to perfect her pie crust. For the crust alone, I would recommend this pie shop above all others in Seattle.

Tony catered empanadas and pie for my birthday party and it was awesome! He even made special request apple pie cookies. Tony was a pleasure to work with and had lots of creative ideas.

YUM American Pie! I can't wait to 'have' to get empanadas from you again!

Stopped in on a whim to check 'em out, been back two times in three days!!  I'm a fan of good pot pie, and who doesn't love dessert pie ;-)  First up for review, the pot pie.  I tried the beef pot pie, slow braised beef with mushrooms and onions.  Crust was flaky, light, and buttery with just the right amount of thickness.  Beef filling was fall apart tender with a compementary amount of mushrooms, onions, and au jus.  Would have prefered a bit more au jus, but that might have soaked the crust and it's an acceptable trade off.  Dessert pies of choice were apple custard and key lime.  The apple was right on target, right proportion of sliced apples and custard filling, right out of Grandma's kitchen!!!  Key lime filling was a trip for my taste buds to Florida, the crust however was a diffrent story.  It's the same crust as used for the other pies, an excellent crust it is, just not what I prefer for my key lime.  As an additional delight there is an ample selection of empanadas to choose from when you just want a small snack.  Same crust (yum) as the pies, filling choices are seemingly endless, no bad choices to date.  All in all a great and delicious find, worth the walk if you live in the neighborhood, and definitely worth the drive if you don't.  As an added bonus, stopped by on the 30th to order some empanadas for a NYE snack, Tony came in on his day off to provide us with a dozen tasty treats!!  I am a customer for life!!!!!

Omg, I don't even LIKE pecan pie... but this place's chocolate pecan was incredible!  I'm not into thick crust, but the baker put chocolate IN the crust.  OM NOM NOM!  (Ok, so I've converted.)  Oh yeah, and try the broccoli and cheese souffle!!!

We ordered empanadas from American Pie on a Friday night. They weren't open on Sat, but Tony made a special order for us and opened early Sat morning so we could pick them up.  They were amazing.  The beet and cheese were incredible and the ground beef empanadas were as good as the ones we used to get in Buenos Aires, Argentina.   We also got alfajores (Peruvian cookies) that were delicious.    We will be back for sure!!!

Love the pies here! I have tried so many.. I don't have just one favorite. But if I had to say which one was my Favorite..I would say its the .. gosh I don't have just one! I love the apple with sour cream.... so so so good.. The rhubarb pie was out of this world. The berry pies, key lime, and the esplanades are so so so so so so good! The owner Tony is so personable, and always there to greet his customers with a  smile!

Went in today and had the Breakfast Pie, the Peruvian Chicken Pot Pie (not sure on the real name) and a slice of Chocolate Cream.

First off, everything was tasty. Ask after whatever is unlabeled in the case, that is how we got the Peruvian variation on the chicken pot pie. The owner said that it was based off a stew his mom makes. Chicken, potatoes, peas, cilantro and herbs made for a tasty filling and the crust was good, flaky and not too buttery. The breakfast pie was full of savory goodness and the chocolate cream was also very tasty.

The downside is that it took a bit for our pies to get heated. Bring a book. The plus of this is that they are no using microwaves, which do not mix with pies. The owner seemed nice.

I am looking forward to going back and seeing how the selection and hopefully, the hours expand as they get settled in.

I tried this place because I figured that the pie has to be good to build a whole shop around it. I tried the blueberry pie and it was competent but not mind blowing. Perhaps my pie palate is not sophisticated enough to taste the difference? But for sure that piece of pie was not worth the $5 I paid for it.

Went here over the weekend - it was delicious! We ordered the seco pot pie and breakfast pie; they were both FULL of filling! No skimping here. The pies were heated up in an oven which made the crust crispy and the insides perfectly warm, like it was just made. I took the sour cream apple pie home. It was tasty as well! The owner was super friendly and helpful. I look forward to watching this business grow and more delicious pies!

Perfect pie. Absolutely perfect. The pastry crust was perfect. I can't stop using that word.

Sour Cream Apple was different and incredible. Pure pie porn.  Empanadas were a deal and equally good. Seco Pot Pie, unlike any chicken pot pie I've ever had. Delicious. (You'll have a short wait while your pot pie bakes, but it's worth it.)

The owner/baker is friendly and knows what he's doing. The space is beautiful in an old school, kitchen with yellow walls and high ceilings kind of way. The perfect place to relax and enjoy pie.

Went for a walk in my own neighborhood and discovered I need to get out more!  American Pie has been there six months and somehow I had missed this!  Made up for it by getting a round of Peanut Butter Cup pie for the family, which was phenomenal.  Not too sweet, just the right peanut butter, cream cheese, and a wonderful graham cracker crust.  We'll be back.

American Pie Bakery made pies for our wedding. We chose 4 flavors, including pumpkin, sour cream apple (wow), mixed berry, and peach/mango. We were very happy with the quality and service! Tony's prices were reasonable, including his delivery charge, and he pre-cut them for us when we found out our venue would charge us extra to cut them. He even tried to find me pedestals to rent for display (though we ended up ultimately renting them from another vendor). Absolutely no complaints. Tony was wonderful to work with. The guests raved about the pie...highly recommend this as an alternative to wedding cake.

I picked up takeout savory pies yesterday. My husband is a chicken pot pie aficionado and he said this was the best he's ever had...loved the crust! I'm a vegetarian and the small curry potato pie and it was great too. The pies do take a while to bake, but hey this isn't a fast food joint. I'm looking forward to picking up a dessert pie soon. I wish this shop every success!

I love the blueberry pie. Not too sweet. You can actually taste the blueberries and layers of flavor in the filling. The crust is great too. The bottom crust is crisp and the top is flaky. Tastes like home, only without the dysfunction.
