I'm a member who hasn't yet visited yet, so I can't comment on the museum itself.  But I can comment on a little of the great work the Museum's doing, and the perks associated with Museum membership.

First, the Museum's purpose is to be a repository and conservator of all things angling related.  This includes angling art, tackle, books, etc.  In addition to in-museum exhibits, they organize traveling exhibits to showcase their interesting fly fishing artifacts around the country for folk like me who haven't had the chance to visit.  Their collection of tackle is truly amazing!  Some day soon I expect to take a trip east to do some fishing and a visit to the museum is high on my list!

So for now membership to me pretty much is limited to receiving the museum's quarterly journal.  The quality of this magazine alone makes the cost seem trivial!  If you're like me and tired of the national fly fishing magazines which regurgitate endless "new gear" and exotic angling destination reviews, this magazine is a real treat to find in your mailbox.  It's loaded with detailed historical recounts of angling, past and present with some nice fiction sprinkle in too.  For example, this past year they included a three part series covering the rich history associated with the fabled Salmon fishing up on Quebec's Gaspe- where on earth will you get info like that sent to you in the mail!?!  Ok, angling history can get a little dry at times, but interesting photographs and artwork are reproduced to accompany each article.  Seriously, the museum deserves kudos for a job well done on the journal- it really is one of a kind, and in terms of overall quality of writing there are only a handful of specialty fly fishing periodicals in their league in this country.  If the journal interests you at all you should join.
