Hands down the BEST catfish I have ever had!! Who woulda thunk it? Not I, that's for sure! The fillets were huge with a great breading and not greasy or dirt-tasting at all like some other experiences I've had. They were served with an amazing tarter sauce, some taters, and some veggies. You may be wondering how I ended up in BFE Illinois?? Well, my step mom grew up in that little hick town, surrounded by corn and bibles. I wasn't so thrilled about dining at the American Legion, until I had their catfish and witnessed their nightly karaoke session!! It's amazing what years of practice can do! There was some great serenading going on... including a little from me when I got up and sang Deana Carter's "Did I Shave My Legs For This?" stone sober!! The snooty veterans weren't so impressed that I was stealing their limelight, but the family cheered me on! Many establishments could learn a few lessons in culinary excellence and character from these podunks, that's for sure!

Ya, this place is great! Great catfish and good sized steaks at a decent price. The place is really home town local. My grandpa is a veteran of WWII so its nice to see him hang with a couple of people he might know and my step mom to introduce us to some locals.
