I'm surprised there are sooo many angry reviews here. I started getting laser hair removal on my legs and bikini while still in NYC because I got sooo many ingrown hairs from shaving or waxing that I couldn't even wear skirts anymore.
I bought a crazily expensive 6-time package with the 2-year guarantee. I cant remember how much it was now, but it might have cost more than my car!!
BUT it was totally worth it. That was like 7 years ago. I started at the ALC on the upper east side in NYC and they were more than happy to transfer the rest of my package to LA when I moved here.
Also, I continued to get treatments way longer than my 2-year guarantee because I still had some light hair growth and they totally accommodated me.
Yes, they did try to upsell me every single time (my only major complaint) and parking was a pain, but for the most part I had really nice, competent technicians. It hurt like mo-fo, especially the first few times.
But now my legs are super smooth, no more ingrowns, no more horrible expensive painful waxing and I only have to shave a few hairs every two (2!) months, I couldn't be happier!!
One caveat, I think I have the perfect skin type for this treatment, which is dark hair and fair skin. I've heard for people with lighter hair or darker skin, it doesn't work as well, but that's just a function of the technology. -

I won a $300 gift certificate from ALC but after googling about their services and finding out about the numerous lawsuits people are filing against them for unsanitary practices and fraudulent sales tactics I don't think i will EVER lay feet in their centers.

no stars! i was....was....a nurse there.....it does not work....it's all about sales....i do not believe in selling something that does not work. yes, all facitlities are flashy....do your research. you will find many law suits pending for any alc. sorry....this is the truth. i would never recommend a friend. i quit for this exact reason!

I made the mistake of not doing an internet search on this place before showing up for services. Look up "American Laser Center bad" or "American Laser Center rip off" or even just "American Laser Center review" which pulls up an ABC news story on how this company is hell-bent on getting your money. In my case, they lured me in by claiming I had won a "sweepstakes" and then once I was there for my "free consultation" they pressured me into giving a credit card, and that I would otherwise loose the $300 of my sweepstakes win. They told me I could cancel, then a month and a half later I received a call from the third-party credit collection agency telling me I was past due. They later said my cancellation "request" had been denied and now I'm spending all of my time filing with the FTC, CA Dept. of Justice, and anyone else I can to get this fee cancelled for a service I never began. If you read around the internet you'll find people who were literally burned and left on their own for medical bills, fake doctors reviewing files, not honoring contractual commitments, and a whole host of unethical practices. There is no corporate information listed on their website and if you call for customer service, you're routed to voicemail. Needless to say, they don't return phone calls. Stay away from this place!
