This is my second review for Cuinn and his team. I simply had to give Marcel kudos for coming by at the last minute (because of course the a/c only breaks down Friday afternoon). It was after five, he had just finished his last job and was on his way home, but stopped by because he knew it was an emergency. (no, he did not charge me extra for working until nearly 7pm)
Like Cuinn, Marcel was thorough, knowledgeable, and super nice (on a hot day with no a/c, nice goes a long way).

American HVAC is the BEST! I own a small business and our air conditioning went out on a Thursday. It was an extremely hot week and our customers were not coming in because our store was so miserable without air. I called Cuinn at HVAC and explained the urgency. He was understanding and able to fit me in that day to look at our unit. He showed up on time, was excellent about communicating with me about what was going on with our unit and very honest about what our options were to get it fixed.
Ultimately, we decided the best decision was to replace the unit. We had to do it quickly and Cuinn was more than willing. He made it all happen in less than 24 hours. Extremely impressive.
I highly recommend American HVAC to anyone needing service, repair or replacement in the Bay Area. They are professional, fair and timely. I will use again and again for both my business and my home. -

We had a great experience working with Quinn and appreciative his speedy, knowledgable, and professional service.
Our A/C stopped working yesterday, I found American HVAC on yelp, called this morning, and within 20 minutes he called me back and made an appointment for this afternoon.
He wasn't able to be here exactly when he said he would and called to say he was on his way but slightly late. So appreciate the clear communication!
When he arrived, he took a look, and quickly identified the problem, had the part in his truck, and within a few minutes switched it out and had our system working again. He made sure that all was working correctly before leaving.
I couldn't ask for better service. Good communication, knew what he was doing, and of course I'm delighted that the repair was a simple $25 part and an hour service charge.
Would use him again. -

Quinn was very helpful on the phone and took the time to listen and understand the service installation I was looking for. He ended up referring me to a general contractor due to the nature of the install. I really appreciate that he spent time with me on the phone (multiple times) especially when he knew he was going to refer me to someone else.

American HVAC is the best! Cuinn is professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly listens to your needs. We had some work done at our rental property and AmHVAC made the best recommendation for our tenants that our property manager will now use AmHVAC for his properties. We had 3 HVAC's provide us a quote and Cuinn's was the most thorough and competitive. I highly recommend AmHVAC and will not hesitate to provide them with referrals. They made us feel like our job was a priority.

American HVAC is an exceptional company. They replaced my very old furnace, but we found out that the ducts were to small to support the new furnace. We worked with the owner Quinn to solve the problem. Quinn quickly responded to my calls. In addition, he added additional duct work at his own expense on a Sunday so that we would have constant heat. My heating system is working perfectly, thanks to Quinn and his tech, Brian.
I am so impressed by the quality of their work, their professionalism, their responsiveness to the customer and, most importantly, their ethical manner of doing business. Quinn does business the old-fashioned way - putting the customer's needs first. I highly recommend American HVAC!

I was so impressed with American HVAC! Our heater stopped working in late November and they were the only company out of three that could see me that same day. They quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and came the next day to repair it and get our heat working - yeah

Great service and solved our problem. We had a different furnace outfit out the previous day who got our furnace running again, for one day, and they suggested we might need a new one. Not true. American diagnosed the problem, made an adjustment, and things have been running smoothly for weeks. The technician followed up a couple of times to check that things were still working properly. These are the guys to use for a service call. They came out the same day.

Cuinn from American HVAC just left my residence after working for two days on a 25 year old furnace. He was able to get the furnace working better than it was before he arrived.
After two days, several parts and many phone calls, he got it running. He took the time to explain every step along the way. Cuinn apologized for the time it took him to make the repair and told me he didn't know how much longer it would last. He then offered to deduct the cost of repairing the old one furnace if I decided to have a new one installed.
What I liked about Cuinn and American HVAC is that it is run like a family business. Cuinn was brutally honest and told me upfront that my furnace was old and I should consider buying a new furnace before putting a lot of money into the old one. He explained that the new furnaces are much more energy efficient and would save me money in the long run. I told him I would like to try and get the old one running and use it for another year so he commenced to replacing one part after another.
Bottom line........furnaces are complicated. Quinn seemed to have a general interest in customer service. He made me feel like he wasn't just there to turn a wrench and pick up a check. I will be sticking with American HVAC for my heating and AC needs. -

My husband and I are so happy we went with American HVAC to get our heater fixed! When our heater broke, we were worried that fixing it would turn out to be a long, expensive ordeal. But instead, it was easy, fast and inexpensive.
Cuinn was incredibly responsive - he was able to fit us in the very next day after we called and figured out and fixed the problem very quickly. He thoroughly explained what he was doing the whole time, so that we would know how to check for the problem ourselves next time. He was willing to answer all of my questions, and even offered to walk us through another minor repair (replacing the thermostat) on the phone, because we had bought the wrong kind so he could not install it during that visit.
We would not hesitate to call Cuinn again if we have another heater problem (hopefully we won't!), and we will be recommending him to all of our friends in the area. -

We had a great experience with American HVAC! Our elderly furnace had stopped working (after some failed attempts to fix and hacks done by another company). They were able to get our furnace working and install some new venting to an older portion of our home in a single day.
Quinn was very professional and responsive, and was able to work around our schedule and our location in the Santa Cruz Mountains. He talked us through every step and gave us realistic expectations. As an added bonus, we were able to do some of the prep work ourselves to keep costs down.
It's great to find contractors like Quinn who know their trade and work extra hard to keep the customer happy. -

Came on Thanksgiving Day eve to diagnose and repair an ancient wall heater - my only source of heat. Only needed the generator replaced. Cost was reasonable, job was completed in a little over an hour. The technician, Matt, lives in 95033 - he knows how to deal with quirky old mountain homes.

First, let me say that we have never yelped any business at all. Period. We don't do facebook, twitter, none of that social networking stuff...until now. After having Cuinn and Matt help us with our furnace, I was eager to yelp about American HVAC.
Cuinn and Matt are incredibly honest and fair. We had this small, round plastic part/fan to the induced draft motor of our furnace that was making noise and, thus, not working properly to cool the motor. Instead of trying to sell us another motor outright, Matt tried one solution with electrical tape to get the plastic part/fan to stay in place because he actually thought it would work. The whole appointment took all of 15 minutes at the most. I still had to pay the first one hour fee and trip fee, but I knew that this would be the case even if the entire hour wasn't needed to fix the problem. Matt was even apologetic for having to charge me for the full hour, but like I said, I expected to have to pay and was appreciative of him not trying to sell me a bill of goods or find other "problems" that would require even more hours of labor, something that I have experienced other businesses try to do.
To my chagrin, the noise returned a few days later. I called American HVAC. Matt was scheduled to return the day that I called at no charge to me. Cuinn wound up contacting me instead (because Matt was swamped) and promised that either he or Matt would come the next day. Cuinn arrived on our doorstep the next afternoon. He identified that the plastic part/fan needed to be replaced, but needed to get the part. (Realize that replacing that plastic part/fan was only a few bucks compared to $150-200 for an entirely new motor.) Even though Cuinn and Matt were super busy, Cuinn returned to replace the part the same afternoon.
And the kicker for me is that Cuinn didn't charge us for the additional time. He talked with Matt about the initial time spent and recognized that it was fair to charge me what I already paid.
I'm "yelping" about American HVAC partially because I was pretty much taken for a ride by another heating/cooling company (that shall remain unnamed, but let's just say that their cumulative yelp rating isn't that great and it seems like every other yelp posted for that other heating/cooling company, the owner is trying to reply and do damage control). I'm "yelping" about American HVAC also to thank the other folks who yelped this business with such high regard. Thanks, Cuinn and Matt! -

So happy I called Cuinn at American HVAC! We bought a house in the SC Mtns and some of the things the owner builder did were kind of wacky, so I wanted to be sure the propane furnace was hooked up right and working properly. Also we could not, for the life of us, figure out how to change the filters in the thing because it looks impossible when you first look at it. It uses 2 filters in a V-shape in a small space.
Cuinn demonstrated how to do that, then walked me through doing it, and then drew a little diagram for me, both on paper and on the furnace, so we would remember how it went.
He answered all the questions I had and he discovered something about how our furnace and thermostat were wired that was interesting, but not a problem. Our 2-stage furnace had a 1-stage type thermostat and had wiring for a 1-stage furnace, so our 2nd stage feature wasn't working. It's really only for very quickly heating a cold house and uses more propane, so we're happy using the 1-stage for heating and it doesn't cause any problems for the system to do that. But good to know about.
He really knows his stuff and is really good at explaining it to a non-technical person. Also friendly, has good prices, honest, and didn't complain about how hard it is to find our house!
This is the kind of person I want to do business with. -

Americah Hvac is the best. Cuinn was so responsive and came out promptly to give us a quote. Given the reviews and our timing we waited for an opening on his schedule. The work was excellent! Brian came out to do the work and it was completed very thoroughly. The cleanup was excellent as well. We couldn't have asked for better service.

On a Friday night, our heater did not seem to be working right. I didn't want to wait until Monday to get it fixed because my parents who were visiting from Hawaii were freezing in our 65 degree weather. I had a hard time finding someone who worked on the weekends but I finally called American HVAC based on the great reviews from http://yelp.com. Cuinn came on short notice on a Saturday and gave our heater a thorough check and determined that the heater was working normally but that our 15 year-old thermostat was out of wack.
Cuinn was knowledgeable, professional, on-time, honest, and best of all, not a hard-sell. He said there was nothing wrong with our heater; and though our thermostat was not calibrated right, he did not push us to replace it. We highly recommend American HVAC. -

Cuinn has differentiated himself and his business from others due to his commitment, timeliness, and value. Our A/C went out during a hot week when it is generally difficult to find HVAC people. Not only did he show up when he said he would, he waited for our unit to fail to best diagnose the problem. From there, it was a quick part to order (vs changing out the entire condenser unit) and the replacement was quick and everything is up and working. We then had him quote us for a new ductless system for one of our rooms and received a very good price and turnaround time. The new unit is working great and we couldn't be happier.

My husband & I have known Cuinn (the owner) since he was 5 years old. He grew up with our youngest son Damain. What a great surprise & bonus to find Cuinn had started his own HVAC company ! Now we could have work done by a friend rather than a stranger. We actually had him make repairs to 2 furnaces at 2 seperate locations. Both came out a 10 on a 10 scale. He also made some recommendations for saving ourselves problems in the future. Were glad he was able to fix the noisy furnace from H-LL. We lived wih that racket for 5 years. I had a problem with airflow in my house, some rooms did not get enough heat in the summer and not enough a/c in the summer, so I went on yelp and found Cuinn at American HVAC. He was able to figure out my system and explain it to me and quickly re-balance the house.. So far so good. He was on time and did not pre-charge a service fee to come out and check it out. And the balancing was so simple he didn't charge me after either. We also discussed what the next steps would be if the quick fix was not good enough... I will definitely be calling him back for my future HVAC needs.

Don't know why it is so hard to find consistant Craftsmen in the AC biz but it is. Finally came across American HVAC and have had them do a residential package at my home and after that signed them up to do the maintenance on a commercial building. They are big on communication and keeping you informed as to their progress. Do clean installs and cleanup after themselves. (Extra points in mmy book.) I don't think its the most fun to try and maintain units that are 10-20 years old, but they are in place and someone needs to do the upkeep. Not so worried about getting the cheapest price but more so, a quality job that gives you peace of mind. I'll keep using them as long as they keep showing up!! ;-)

We found Quinn from American HVAC on Yelp. We liked the reviews so we called him. During the coldest days we had recently, our heater broke down. Quinn responded to our call quickly. We made and appointment with him and he showed up on time, on the day we requested. He evaluated our problem and gave us an estimate. He had to order a part for our heating system and returned back the next day to complete his work, so we could finally have heat. His estimate was right on target with the final cost. He was very helpful and quick. We are very grateful we called him and that we now have a warm home.
