I just wanted to update my previous post. It was time for my yearly checkup and I called and made an appt for both my husband and me. First, appts are really easy to get, they are very accommodating like that. The front desk staff is still super friendly and sweet. They hired some new people and they were nice as well. One of the new girls helped me and my husband pick out frames. The doc was right on point as always and we got three frames for a great price (I need two pairs and my hubby needs one). We also got an amazing deal on some discount sunglasses. Great experience. They are still professional, helpful and overall great. I def recommend them!
I also walked in with a pair of sunglasses that I had bought from them about a year ago and one of the legs had fallen off and they repaired it no questions asked, free and it took a few minutes. Their protection coverage on their frames is unbelievable. I have never had a problem with it.
Also, I want to add they have the latest seasons/style of very high end brands. The frame selection is really huge and they also have lower cost ones. So there is def something for everyone and they will work with you on the prices.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Fluorescent lighting in a small space. Everyone was overly friendly after they realized I was on yelp- before that I was pretty much ignored. Dr. Stadlen was ok, seemed knowledgeable. Not super impressed overall so we will try another place in the future.
If you need to pick up your glasses and you call ahead and say I'm right around the corner and they are closing in 10 minutes, forget about getting your glasses- they closed and refused to hand over the glasses. A bit lacking in customer service- this place doesn't go the extra mile for their customers so we will go the extra mile to somewhere better. ;0) -

I love them. I was able to make an appointment that morning. I was in and out in under an hour, including my eye exam, picking out frames, ordering glasses, and paying for everything. This was important to me because I parked at a meter. The eye doctor told me info on glasses I never heard about. His exam was efficient and he really knew his stuff. The person who was fitting me for glasses went the extra mile and got me insurance discounts I didn't even know about. The doctors assistant was wonderfully pleasant. The only thing now is to pick up the glasses. If something bad happens I'll be sure to write back but for now I'm sticking with them.

I've been going to Dr. Stadlen at American Eye Care for 2 years now.
After 15 years of wearing contacts I've never, until Dr. Stadlen, waited for an hour on average to see my optometrist. This is standard here.
Also be sure you know who you are and what you're doing there as they don't keep very good files and he never checks the file before seeing you. Nor does he remember you as a patient.
Every time I have to remind him what I do and what I'm there for. This winter I went in for a specific problem and saw him twice in one week. From Tuesday to Friday he'd completely forgotten my name, why I'd come in, etc.
Most importantly he told me to ask the front desk to order me new contacts-it's now been 5 weeks and they can't seem to find the order, they don't return calls, etc.
Don't use these folks they're not your best bet for eye care.Comment from Kayla D. of American Eye Care 12/21/2010

I went to see Dr. Stadlen for the first time in the fall for a medical issue.
I just went back for an annual exam and to buy new glasses. They asked me if I was a new patient and apparently couldn't find my chart. I met with Dr. Stadlen, he asks me if I'm here for an exam for glasses, a routine exam, or for contacts. I said annual and I'd like to get new glasses. He goes into telling me about a foaming cleanser, that I had bought during the 1st visit, and was trying to sell it to me again. Maybe his real profession should be a car salesman.
I ask him if he found my chart. He says "his assistant is looking for it in the back office and that he can check my contacts when I come back next week for a follow-up." Brings me right away up front so I can buy my new glasses. I ask him if he's brought my old glasses with him. He says "He left them in the Lab". The service was rushed and disorganized. It seems like a vanity business, I'm not sure about the doctor or employees training.
How does a doctor's office lose your chart? Especially with your social security number is on it? Never heard of that one. Apparently American Eye Care has their own system that does not work, among the 8 people staffed behind the 4 foot desk.Comment from Kayla D. of American Eye Care 12/21/2010

The optometrist seems capable, but is overbooked. Appointment times are not honored, so it's important to allow waiting time. Despite Dr. Stadlen's evident expertise, he seem heavily motivated by financial concerns. Prices for lenses are much higher in the store than they are online. Be sure to check his prices against online prices, since the difference is substantial. Various attempts were made to sell me items I did not want. A fine doctor in an unfortunate commercial setting, and one that does not really operate with courtesy and efficiency.

part of their problem is they see too many patients and they have dollar signs in their eyes. even the optician. i wish i had read these reviews before i ran over one night at 5:30 and waited until 6:45 to be seen. dr. standlen seemed personable and informative but very rushed. many of their frames are priced at the magic number of $249. even with coverage i just didn't want to pay more than $100-150 for everything including routine exam. the staff was helpful enough, not terribly sincere, polite but robotic (happy to have a job). well i suppose that's the price i have to pay for convenience???
