Review from Lukey B.

I love going in to American Eagle Outfitters. Their clothing is always all american, incredibly casual and very affordable. When American Eagle Outfitters has a sale, they really have a sale. I tend to like their style. You do have to be choosy on what you buy because a lot of it is very poorly made. Not like H&M poorly made but definitely not Hollister or Fitch quality. Every time I have ever been in this store, the staff have been incredibly helpful regardless of how chaotic and packed the store is. When go here be sure to check in on Four Square because AE always has a 10-15% off coupon just for checking in. It is valid for the entire purchase including already low sale items.
The only thing that would make it more perfect would be if they would establish a check-in deal with Yelp, so I didn't have to break out the Four Square **wink wink nudge nudge**. Four stars: one for a great shop, one for great prices, another for great style and a forth for great staff. Subtract one because the quality is not there with a lot of their items. I will definitely be back again and again to at least see what they have on the sale rack. -
Review from Lisa X.
I am really impressed with the level of customer service at this store. When I needed a size, the guys at the fitting room didn't hesitate to grab it for me. They even pulled a chair up for my boyfriend to sit outside my room AND cracked jokes with him. I didn't feel any pressure to buy anything at all.
The only thing about this store is that things are set up a little weird. It's hard to find what you need. I had to walk around twice to find a t-shirt that seemed to be in two different spots. Otherwise, the clothes are über cute and they tap my wallet at the right spot. -

American Eagle is exactly what you'd expect: a place for pricey clothes designed just for cutesy teens with mommy and daddy's credit card. This store has a nice open layout, but the clothing is nothing to write home about. I do like their shorts and pants. Not only do they run true to size, but they are soft and affordable. Other than that, I haven't shopped there since I was fourteen. The fitting rooms at this particular store are very clausterphobic and the male staff a bit too...friendly if you know what I mean.

I absolutely love this store! The customer service is fantastic--I was helped by two sale associates in finding sandals and a nice pair of jeans. I couldn't bring myself to buy a $50 pair of jeans. The clothes give off a relaxed "California cool" vibe. The price range is a bit above my budget, but I come here every couple of months to splurge anyways.

Their sale for Black Friday was just awesome!
I also love their staff, always so upbeat and energetic especially the girl by the door that kept shouting "GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SALES WOO HOO!" you go girl! -

This store has some quality clothing i have to admit. Compared to the scariness of Hollister, the disorganized poor quality of Forever, AE is the perfect balance of long lasting clothes, comfort, and fashion.
I stay away from most of their branded shirts and what not but RECENTLY
IVE SUCCESSFULLY FOUND A PAIR OF JEANS ( Jeggings that feel like jeans and look it) THAT FIT!
The guys at the dressing room are hilarious and helped me decide my jeans. One told me he wasn't on cosmission so if the pants are ugly, he would tell me. That was sweet of him haha I also have a hoodie from this place that is still going strong from about four years ago.
There are a lot of coupon codes floating around on the internet, and that day my bf scanned something on the wall and we got 15% off
Sometimes it can get crowded but still worth a walk through before going into the mall on market -
Review from Cara D.
Not long ago, I was looking for some jeggings in Express, and the salesperson there straight up told me to go to American Eagle. Now, I've been a fan for awhile, as both my husband and I were able to find clothes there while living in Houston, but this location is my favorite ever.
Why?
Because it is the biggest American Eagle store I have ever been to.
Because it is always crowded but the line always moves fast.
Because the associates in the dressing room area are always helpful, as are the staff on the floor.
Because they carry so many different sizes and colors of their materials.
Because the accessories are conveniently located so that you may continue shopping without losing your place in line.
I also love AE because their sizes run consistently -- You've tried one t-shirt, you've tried them all. Makes shopping MUCH easier! They also have a great return policy. They also have great sales -- Labor Day Weekend everything was 40% off in store and online, and they offered free shipping online.
I only took one star off because that store is always so hot when I am there. I am sure it's because it is crowded, but I wish they were turn the a/c up!
The Verdict: Great people, great stuff, great sales. Love it! -
Review from Constance C.
East Bay, CA
Used to love American Eagle, but not so much anymore. I think I'm getting a little too old for it, not to mention the fact that their stuff looks super different online than it does in real life and I'm tired of getting attitude from the people who work here about returning my stuff.
Last weekend, they asked me why I was returning things and I said because things look different online. And the cashier told me that's why I should go to the store. Ya ever think the reason I don't go to the store is because it's inconvenient for me, not to mention the fact that prices are usually lower online? Hmmm? No? Well too bad! You're not getting my business anymore!Listed in: Worst of the Worst!

I love American Eagle.
Now, I generally prefer the one in Stonestown over this one but hey! This one is more convenient so whatever.
The Aerie connected to this store is really nice, the staff members are cool, these two stars are for them.
American Eagle itself...not so much.
I'm the type of shopper that likes to keep to myself. I don't want people talking to me or helping me unless I specifically approach them. So when I came into the store a few weeks back...Man was it irritating.
First of all, working in retail myself, I understand the fear of having your stuff stolen. Really, I do. But is it really necessary to have every one of your employees approach/follow me throughout the store? Might I suggest that you guys also be a bit more subtle about it? Because there are "kids" who come into the store, with money, who actually are there to buy clothes you know. So finally, after being approached by nearly every employee (or that felt like it) twice, I decided to buy what I had and take my business elsewhere. I have yet to go back there since then.
And although I'm just one consumer, I'm sure I am not the first or last to feel this way. -

Sophomore year of college I shopped here for tanks and tops, and thought I'd outgrown them now that I'm working.
I was wrong. Saw this satiny floral dress on sale for $30, and in the dressing room a very cute black salesman couldn't stop complimenting me on how gorgeous it was with my wavy hair (in a surprisingly hetero manner). The dressing room experience was clean, spacious and awesome. It's still one of the best buys I've made this year! I probably wouldn't buy the regular-priced stuff here tho -

I walked in here the other day to peruse their foot-ware selection and in a matter of 10 minutes had received four lovely compliments from four different staff members here.
Sooooo Whaaaaaat's UUUUUUppp.
Forget Disney World - as the happiest place on Earth - if you want a massive self-esteem boost - just stroll on over to American Eagle Outfitters.
Outside of big grinned staff - who's eyes seem to light up - over any customers - over the age of 12 - in this store - I've always been a fan of their shoes. Primarily their men's hiking boots. Currently they carry a sweet pair of red laced, thick soled hiking boot - that are so on point - that I even considered wearing two pairs of socks just to fit into their smallest size.
I ended up leaving the pair, but while debating about it, had a great conversation with one of their staff about the beauty of Tom Robbins, the Green Tortoise, and San Francisco in the 60's and 70's.

Walked in so my wife could get some jeans, walked out with one for me too. The sales staff on the floor and in the dressing room was superb, helpful, friendly, and exactly the right level of committed to help (not too pushy, but right there when I needed them). Honestly, I had little interest in even setting foot in the store before today, but that's officially changed here forth.

This is quite an odd review for me. AE is a little outside of... let's say... my "age group" according to their target market. When I saw that they advertised things like:
"I can wear this any time... Like if i'm going to class or out that night to a party"
okay... I get it. There may be some mid-thirty year olds in "class"... but not me.
But... back to the review. If you can get over the music "pumping" and the overly cheerful (but super nice) staff you must find your way to their denim / jeans section. This is the reason for the review. Their jeans are great. They're really cost effective and the style is up to speed with... well... "what the kids are wearing". I love the way they fit and they have enough styles that you can really find something for every day (class schedules aside).
The only down side to them is that they're quite stretchy. While this makes for ULTRA comfortable fit they tend to loosen up after a few wears meaning you need to run them through the washer a little more often than others.
Aside from that - I love them. I keep a bunch of them on hand. For the fit and the price they can't be beat. -
Review from Kara R.
I'm a little old to be shopping here but I found a $100 gift card that my parents had given me a few years ago when it was a bit more socially acceptable for me to wear clothes emblazoned by logos.
Turns out if you don't use their gift cards within a certain amount of time, they deduct money from it ($10 per month!). So, after wasting 45 minutes navigating the crowded store, I was told there was nothing they could do, and that my parents' gift card was worth nothing. Keep that in mind next time you want to buy a gift card... -

American Eagle Outfitters has always been less expensive than the nearby Abercrombie & Fitch and just about as cute! Now, it's much, much less expensive since Abercrombie has hiked up their prices.
I love AE's sale section as well as their super cute boxers and boy-cut underwear. They often also have cute sweaters, tops, purses, tank tops, and pants. -

FALSE ADVERTISING
My co-worker and needed some happy hour clothes and so went to the Westfield American Eagle in Downtown SF.
I see this sign, "Clearance Take an Additional 20% off ... 19.95 (select styles)". I pick one of the polo's below the sign, try it on, and head to the cashier.
The cashier rings me up and she charges me the original price of 24.50+ tax. I asked about that sign and she says, its "select styles and colors". We head back to the sign and it doesn't say "select colors' just "select styles" A nearby AE staffer confirms that some of the other colors are marked down but not the one I was holding. This AE staffer also concedes that yes the marked down polo had the same "style number" as the polo shirt I was going to buy.
So we went back to the cashier and she says even though it doesn't say color, we mean color too... That I say is false advertising and she was clearly making up her own rules.
The cashier's manager was next to her and changes the story saying the sign wasn't for the polo shirts but for the shorts below... My question to him was why wasn't the sign by the shorts and why where some of the polos marked down? I smell bullsh*t...
In the end I bought the shirt because I was looking frumpy that afternoon... and I didn't want to be those yelpers that complain about a store/restaurant when they haven't bought/tried the food.
Yes American Eagle you have an extra $5 I feel I was overcharged, but its going to cost you a lot more if you want to try and bury/remove this post. =)
For those that think this is story is false, please PM me or see Lauren Y's "Check-In" on Friday June 19th. -

Yeah I feel like a weird nut shopping here, considering I'm turning 21 soon and have graduated from college, while their target demographic is something like high school kids.
But no matter, I am a HUGE fan of their Aerie FIT line. AE stuff is always always marked down and their fitness clothes is top notch. So I get to look semi decent while I work out and I am not forced to pay the price that Nike or Adidas or Lullemon asks of you.
I never liked their regular clothes when I was in high school, but I always respected their quality. I would say their clothes are better than the clothes at Gap. Anyways, I was really surprised at myself when I found myself buying some denim bottoms and blouses here. It's always reallly cheap and if you just stay away from the clothes that carry huge AE logos.
Two last points, I'm a size smaller at AE than at their older demographic line, Martin + Osa (weird), and secondly, AE in-store is ALWAYS cheaper than AE online! -

Bite me for becoming a recent fan of American Eagle. Yes, no one in this city likes the mall yet alone corporate stores...I normally don't either. But I'm also a fan of cheap shopping for decent quality clothes.
My normal dressing style doesn't consist of the typical "American Eagle/Abercrombie"-ish look. Yet, somehow I've ventured in here several times lately to notice a bit of a change in their clothing. They still carry their typical look, but they've been displaying some stylish clothes lately.
And there's mostly young teenagers swarming this store, but I've managed to make some of their clothing look a bit more "grown up."
I've been buying just their basics with a few surprisingly cute dresses. Plain colored lengthy v-neck shirts & tank tops for layering purposes all for roughly $10-15 a piece. Beats American Apparel's ridiculous $500 plain v-neck shirts for the same quality! Plus cute stylish underwear which usually is roughly 5 for $20!
It's organized, clean, and the staff here is always friendly & helpful.
I walk in here lookin to simply pick up a v-neck shirt and well, my shopaholic self walks out $150 less in the wallet. But you won't make fun of me for shopping corporate when you break the bank being hip & buying ONE plain cotton shirt at American Apparel for $50, when I have ten plain cotton shirts for the same price from AE. -

I know I'm no longer a college scrub scrounging for pocket change to buy a Jumbo Jack so I really do need to graduate from this store.
But the quality is pretty good and they have great sales. I buy lots of over-sized sweaters during winter time and they're pretty durable. -

Decent size AE store, but selection kinda sucks. Also filled with mall rats...
But I got Eugy to buy a new pair of jeans and shorts, so I'm happy! -
Review from Steven T.
Since when did AE start a fitness line? In fact, I never even heard of this aerie line let alone the fitness one. I guess I haven't been there in some time... but even then I think it's only for females; discrimination! Oh well, I guess I wouldn't try and doll myself up to hit the gym anyway, I mean I know I wouldn't. Great job AE, way to make some more eye candy for guys to ogle over at the gym. What stood out about this AE to me was the customer service. Personally, I wasn't looking for anything, but my friend was. She had nothing in mind except for a color and that is what we set our minds on for the day (it was green by the way). So we walk in from the inside mall entrance and are greeted by not one but 3 ladies. One of young women asks me if we were looking for anything in particular. I simply said no, but she is looking for something green.
AE Worker: Green?
Me: Yah, green
AE Worker: is that your favorite color?
Friend: how'd you know?
Me: *thinking* uhhhh
AE Worker: omg! Me too!
She literally started going to town pointing out EVERYTHING that was green. She gave us the play by play on what she thought was cute, clearance items not excluded. It was like she knew every little green thing in the store even if it was hidden in the nooks and crannies. I swear everywhere I looked and manning every entrance was at least 3 employees ready to serve you... in AE? Maybe because it's a high traffic store? Not only that, but the check out despite the long line went super quickly. Depending on the store in question, that is exactly what I want done. I want to be helped, find what I am looking for, and be out as expediently as possible; time is money folks! -

Tho' I've been here for 10+ years, I've never thought to step into A-E.
This unusual summer heat drew me in with their manne's sportin' shorts + tanks (on sale) in their windows.
I was pleasantly surprised by their helpful service with a smile + a thank you to top it off. -

Keir knowswhats up. Others don't. Style means style. Not color. It should be on sale.
my friend wanted to buy a light blue polo that was on the front table with "SALE on selected styles" he went to pay and the people who worked up front said, "this one is not on sale because there is no tag on it." "the sign says selected styles, not colors." Keir, who worked the front said, "You know, you are right. It is the same style, just a different color." He told us that only the store manager could do something about it, but that person was no where to be found.
eh cheap clothes for the look. -

[thinking to self]
Time to vainly try on a pair of jeans and see if these FUN cable-knit wool sock-house-slippers will fit me... *la la la* yeah it'll be nice to have warm feet in my freezing apartment at night
[walks into fitting room, closes stall door]
so let's see how this goes. god, I haven't been to AE in a few years, not since I lived in suburban LA/OC.
DID YOU KNOW THAT FITTING ROOMS ARE PERFECT FOR EAVESDROPPING?
"like, ohmagawd, why does everything look weird on my body? no WAY, brianna, but your butt TOTALLY looks flat in those jeans. do you think this shirt looks okay on me? ohmagawd, jenna, you, like, already have, like, four of those shirts at home, right?"
...
YEAH... sooo... I'm still in San Francisco, right? Because I could have sworn for a minute there that I was back in Southern California.
I got the sock-house-slippers--super comfy and fun. Don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. Unless I get homesick for local flavor or decide (again) they have something I can't find anywhere else. -

I decided to spend the day after the Yelp holiday party shopping my hangover away. I should have brought some vicadin along with me to help deal with the pain....no, not from the Yelptini induced hangover but from the loud, horrible music that this store had playing. The headache got worse when the sales girl asked me three (3!) times if I wanted to open a charge account. Eh, no thanks.
This store gets three stars for being less expensive than Abercrombie and for having clothes that won't make my niece look like a tramp. -

This location is always very busy, I've never liked shopping here, but they do have more choices. The staff is very friendly, especially the girls working at the Aerie section.
**The following review mainly targeting the quality of their clothes**
Back in Ottawa, I was huge fan of AE, because maybe that was the only store in my home down that carried the style of clothes for university students.
The T shirts, although very soft, but they tend to stretch out a lot.
The Tanks and Tops, not too bad, especially the tank tops, they have many different designs, and cheap too.
The jeans...yuck..you can't find any other brands of jeans that are capable of making my butt so flat.
Despite the fact that I am TOO old for wearing a pair of panties with "Booty Camp" or "Love Love Love" printed across my butt, I love love love their Aerie line!Listed in: My Retail Therapy Sessions

So....crowded. The spatial orientation of displays and clothing cabinets do not provide an ease of crowd flow. My boyfriend is the ONLY reason that I make my way to this store b/c if it were up to me, I wold avoid it like the plague. It is very much an adolescent crowd and with the kids are the parents so the line to check out is always miles long. *GROAN*
Plus, people, I've got curves. I'm not a stick-thin junior sized female any longer. I belong somewhere where the clothes take into account for my boobage. -

After Abercrombie & Fitch began selling their clothes for $200+ that would fall apart within a matter of months, I knew I had to start shopping somewhere else for petite clothing. American Eagle clothes are of better quality and much more affordable.
The SF location is my favorite because they have a better selection, the workers are helpful, the lines go by fairly quick no matter how crowded it is, AND I can run in the store right from the street (totally convenient)!!
I buy most of my boybrief underwear here, too! I love the fit ;D
I buy from their online store because they offer sizes XXS and 00, which they don't carry at their store!!! -

Save yourself some hard earned cash, keep your natural hearing ability longer and don't be stressed out by the mysteriously incomprehensve store layout - just don't shop at Abercrombie & Fitch.
Instead, steer over to American Eagle - their men's clothes are even catering towards the tall population (size L for 6'4" for all the ladies looking to by me presents there) and the store, the music, the everything doesn't make me as antsy as A&F does.
If you're surfing on the very crest of the fashion wave, you might be disappointed: a friend once pointed out to me that the pocket design of a pair of pants I got there would be so last year. And you know what? I so don't care. -
Review from Ariane E.
San Francisco, CA
American Eagle is a really good store, but it used to be better. I used to love almost all of the clothes, but now, it's only okay.
It isn't the worst, though. I recently bought cute floral sneakers for $14! They were so fucking cheap! Their other store, Aerie, has really cute undies and bras, too. -
Review from Caroline L.
San Francisco, CA
I love AE!!! Much better than A&F (and you know how much I despise that place), and I find that their sizes work better, too. Their stuff is less sexed up, and more prep-styled with rugbys, polos, hoodies, etc. My latest purchases from there have been a soft purple hoodie (and I mean super soft... it was only 40 bucks, and folks to me that's a bargain if you compare it to A&F, Hollister, etc) and a green striped cardigan. I love them because they're simple.
BUT ... I used to love their jeans too, but it seems that everywhere I loved buying jeans in the past year have changed their fits. I can't wear AE jeans anymore because I don't really see any rises that are just at the waist. Sometimes I mistakenly try on a pair of jeans that are super low rise, and I end up trying on a size three times bigger to fit my ass in them. So if you're not into the super dee duper low rise jeans (a fad that should DIE a horrible death NOW), then AE's not a good place. Also, I have a big butt, so that sucks, too.
Still love the shirts, sweaters, etc, though. I also dig the sales, especially clearance. Sometimes those are worth waiting for! They always have really nice bags, and I always wait for the sales because they seem to have a lot of them by the end of the season. -
Review from Petra S.
American Eagle, my high school and early college years wardrobe of choice. I love their comfy and stylish clothing. I remember this being the only place I could buy killer jeans that looked great on my bum.
Unfortunately, nowadays the style has been some what lacking and their jeans just don't fit the same anymore, as the rise just keeps getting lower and lower. No offense but no one wants to feel a draft down there or have their undies showing. I still occasionally drop by this location whenever go to the SF center and still like to buy the lingerie and sleep wear..occationally a t-shirt or hoodie.
Still many fond memories of this store and definitely my lounge wear of choice during that time of month.
Only complaint is that it can be over crowded as many find this store a good short cut in or out of the mall due to it's location. The staff is usually pretty friendly and try to be helpful most of the time. -
Review from Joanna W.
I love their new Aerie FIT line.
Never shopped here except after their Aerie alist program started. I would come in there for the monthly free gifts and would always browse around. Their panties (one of the alist gifts) are really comfortable. The waistband is tight; the panty hugs your butt - not like those VS cotton panties that I usually feel uncomfortable in. The size was perfect - I may have to switch from VS to Aerie!
Nice, comfortable workout clothes that do not cost a fortune. I'm in love with this line.
The workers here are usually nice; I always get greeted in and out and asked if I need any help. -

Ever see a sci-fi movie where we all wear the same clothes in the future? I know, scary isn't it?
At American Eagle Outfitters, outfits A-C are on display in the windows of this Market Street store. I'm opposed to things that limit individual expression instead of doing what clothes have the potential to do which is bring out aspects of a personality or express someones style!
The other beef I have is that if I go out and spend a couple hundred bucks on clothes I happen to think they should appear new not tattered, torn, or faded. American Eagle Outfitters is not the place to shop if you're like minded. -

Once you walk in you're constantly greeted by annoying salespeople. They go on and on about the deals and stuff. By that point your shopping mood is destroyed.
They don't have a sale rack that is actually noticeable, which gets annoying when you're short on money. Otherwise, the costumer service is great and the quality is too. -

American Eagle is sort of hit or miss for me. I have bought some really nice stuff there but other times I have not found what I'm looking for.
It is quite a bit cheaper than Abercrombie and you get mostly the same sort of look and same sort of selection.
Expect to pay $40-$50 for a pair of jeans or khakis here and $30 - $40 for a button-up shirt. Its pretty much on par with the prices at GAP and these days I like what AE has a lot more than GAP.
The SF location is pretty nice. Its right off the street in the Westfield Mall. Its one of their better locations. -

the music is wayyyyyy too loud up in here. I bought some ugly shoes that I love a few days ago. they used a funky credit card machine that wasn't attached to any cashier to complete my purchase but it didn't work for like 20mins. so after so many attempts, she gave up and used the reg cashier.

This is the biggest American eagle store I've been to.
Love the layout.
Clothing line is meh. Too plain, kinda expensive for what you get.
Also, stop putting the damn ugly eagle embroidery on all your shirts. It's not as cool as you think it is.
