I had an appointment as a new patient here in March of 2012. The staff at the front and the dental assistant were very friendly. However, my appointment lasted three hours just for cleaning and x-rays. I actually had to get up from my chair and go find someone to ask if my appt would be ending soon because I had been sitting waiting in my chair for cleaning after the Dr consult for almost an hour. Dr. Aguilar recommended I have a filling removed and re-done even though it's not bothering me and is not chipped - when I asked why I needed it re-done he didn't say why, just suggested that I do so. I've switched dentists a few times in the last few years due to switch in insurance and haven't had any other dentist tell me I need the filling re-done (plus it's only about 5 years old). In general the staff was friendly however the Dr. seemed to be more concerned with recommending services not needed, including Invisalign (yes I need it, and would love it - however I told him I am in graduate school without dental insurance and cannot afford it right now, however I was still told I should proceed with it). There was an extremely long wait time between services without any communication from the dental assistant or Dr as to when they were returning (each time someone left my chair, it was 30-45 minutes later before someone came back). All in all not a great experience but I guess I got what I paid for by using a coupon through Amazon for a cheap cleaning/xrays deal.

First of all, I was forced to give this facility 1 star by the computer. Really I would score this facility and the Dentist that treated me (Dr. Emmanuel Aguilar) NEGATIVE 5 stars. He talks alot of game, but his work is horrible and I don't know who would give him any certificates to work on humans. He did a root canal for me years ago and becuase he did such a horrible job it is all coming back to haunt me now. I was experiencing miserable and horrible tooth aches, so I went back to see him. He took an x-ray and was staring at it blankly for 5 minutes straight to the point of me having to ask him to say something. (The stare was probably because he was looking at his shotty work). He gave me antibiotics and ibuprohen for the pain and said that he could not do anything for 2 weeks because I had to wait for the infection he caused to go away. I could not believe this 2 weeks of this pain?! ( I went to my car and started crying my eyes out).
The very next day, I went I got a 2nd opinion because the pain was unbearable. This dentis (Rob Low) is the best and informed me that the root canal was not done correctly and this was bound to happen. Apparently, when the root canal was done Dr. Aguilar didn't not get to the root of my tooth and now my jaw is so swollen it looks like I have elephanitis. PLEASE BEWARE AND DO NOT STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE. -

I went to American Dental but ended up switching to Torrey Pines Dental Arts. While Dr. Aguilar was really nice and gave me lots of information, their equipment and facilities just did not seem that nice and the x-rays they took ended up needing to be redone at my new dentists! So that was $50 down the drain. I didn't feel comfortable having a wisdom tooth operation there so I switched dentists. It was fine for routine cleaning but I would go elsewhere for oral surgery.

I agree with the woman who would give this place negative 5 stars - and I would rate them even less. THEY ARE LIARS AND CROOKS. Do not go here. They do the bait and switch with the pricing and on top of it do bad work. I brought my son here for a cap and once we got there they had a completely different pricing. My son was in such pain I agreed. They told me he might need a root canal and if he started to feel pain to bring him back and they would do it for the difference of 200.00. After 2 months he started feeling pain and we scheduled to bring him back in. They called me the day of the appointment and told me they were referring us to another "specialist" because they couldn't do it and when I called the specialist they told me it would be 676.00 PLUS 96.00 for the office visit!!! This after already being charged $700.00 for the cap! When my husband went to talk to the dentist they told him that he was on lunch and would return at 3:00. He went back and 2:45 and was told he was seeing another patient and refused to come out. I found another dentist to do the work for 323.00 but couldn't get in for several days.. My little boy spent that night in severe pain - as a parent it is a horrible feeling to watch your child cry in pain while you are helpless to fix the problem and I completely blame American Dental - they do not care about their patients, they overcharge and they lie straight to your face. DO NOT GO HERE - go ANYWHERE else!!!
