This place is a gem in Tooele. My bf and I each had a bacon cheeseburger and we ordered some onion rings, fries, and shakes. The burgers were fantastic. They used a high quality beef and the bacon was thick and generously piled on the burger.
The onion rings were crispy but the batter was flavorless. They were better once we sprinkled salt on them. The thick cut fries were also better with the addition of salt.
The shakes were thick and flavorful...every bit as good as the shakes at some of the well-known places in the Salt Lake valley.
We're definitely going to stop here the next time we're in Tooele. -

I should stop being surprised about burger joints in Utah, and just know that every locally owned hamburger restaurant serves a wicked menu of Greek food.
Here I am, passing through Tooele after a day of romping through the hills with my pup, and I get the hankering for a post-hike pick-me-up. Enter American Burgers, and I'm holding a chocolate banana shake and trying to drive home before the rain comes down.
I was indeed tempted by their menu of standard burgers in their single and double forms, but also very intrigued by a few creative twists, chiefly the jalapeño, veggie burger, and of course the massive pastrami-topped monstrosities. The Greek menu also called my name -kebabs and gyros mostly. Breaking out of the burger joint mold completely, they've also got steak and shrimp dinner plates, salads, and a surprisingly large coffee menu. The bright neon sign in the window lets you know they brew Rimini and you can get your latte in iced or hot fashion.
In the end, the chocolate banana shake was pretty tasty and exactly what I wanted. The consistency was just right, not cement but definitely cold and scoopworthy. It was a little too heavy on the chocolate, but the banana was fresh and not too ground up inside.
I don't often find myself in Tooele, so I was proud of the Yelp app for leading me to burger and shakeness on the other side of the Oquirrhs! -

I recently moved out to Utah and I tried American Burgers. I ordered the American Burger with fries and a drink. I have only eaten here once.
American Burger- regular cheeseburger with pastrami added onto the top. The pastrami was really good pastrami, it wasn't chewy and really fatty. It was tender and had good flavor.
The side of fries weren't anything special, they had fry sauce and it was pretty good. I actually like fry sauce even though being from CA they don't have it there. I think they use the fry sauce on the burger also. Service was good and the food came out pretty quick. I give them four stars because it was good but not amazing. -
