in a world where nail salons are on every corner that theres a starbucks, its hard to pick one that will have that wow-factor.

peter did my nails and wasnt too talkative, though had a thick accent. he was nice, efficient and did a great job. they use this wonderful orange scrub instead of soaking your hands in a too-tiny bowl and massage you before they buff away your cuticles.

$14 but take cash to tip.

I went here a few weeks ago for some pink-and-whites and was very pleased. Beside not being offered to wash my hands, it was a great experience (4 stars) with Peter. He was quick, precise, and friendly, and my nails looked great when I left. Everything was perfect about them--which is why this is a three-star review rather than a two-star. Read on...

I went back for fill-ins this week and had a totally different experience. They open at nine, but when I got in at 9:30, only one person was working, and she was talking on the phone. It took her about five minutes to recognize that I was present, and I was quickly told that the nail guy on duty was running late so I'd have to wait five minutes. I waited, then Tom started. I told him he could take some time to get settled (he seemed hurried and stressed), but he either didn't understand or ignored me.

In my experience, fill-ins take 35-45 minutes. After 90 minutes, my nails still weren't done, and they were all misshapen: Some flared out (becoming wider the longer they extended), some were shorter than others, and they had different edges. He first made the white start slightly above my moons (gross), and I had to keep prompting him to take off more white. He was getting annoyed, so I just said, "Okay, fine." He realized I was irritated, because he kind of reset and tried again, which was much better. However, the whites were not consistent on the nails: Some were almost straight across, some were curved (to different degrees. The pink was too wide in a lot of areas, to the point that a couple of digits look like hammertoes. :(

I asked for square with well-rounded corners--I like the white to be equal depth all along the nail and curve with where the pink ends... the nails should NOT  be square, and NOT be oval. This seems to be really hard to translate to all nail techs, which I never understood (it's the most natural-looking!). My tips ended up square or oval, depending on the nail.

By this time, I'd reached the 90-minute mark, so I asked him to stop without finishing and putting on topcoat, knowing I'd be leaving and correcting the shapes myself. I got home and spent an hour fixing them as much as I could, but there are a few that just look weird if looked at closely.

I will try this place again if I can have Peter work on my nails, but I'd be hesitant about walking in and taking whoever is available... I get the impression from my visits that they make most of their business from pedicures, so maybe nails are an afterthought. I'll definitely be looking around for another shop but would feel fine about going here for a pedi.

It was $58 for acrylics (with sparkle powder) and a pedi. They did a pretty good job and the pedi was full on with the hot towel wrapped legs and a scrub. My acrylics look really good and they listened to exactly what I asked for.

I always, always, always came back to this salon.  Nothing in Thousand Oaks compares to what I got in SF.  The manis and pedis were above average for the area and the salon was very clean.  Once they talked me into a brow wax and it was actually the best  (and cheapest) I've had so far.  Just one piece of advice don't let them talk you into all the premium services unless you really want them.  Just go for the basics.

THis is one of only two places I go to in the conejo valley, I go there for my waxing and pedicures, its the only place I get waxing that I dont break out on and the place in very clean, the people are very friendly and I love that they have individual packets for manicures or pedicures so you know you wont catch anything :) Love this place!

Are we for real with these reviews?

I was visiting my mom and really needed a fix up and based on Yelp reviews decided to go to this place.

I'm just waiting for my limbs to slowly rot off one by one.

The water was cold, their tools were wrapped in plastic wrap (not packaged and sealed), they put their lotion in little plastic wrapped covered cups, and decided to go to town on my finger nail cuticles (which didn't need it), but barely tickled my feet.  I have nice feet, it was nothing personal haha - she just sucked at doing a pedicure.

They did a horrible job at painting, very sloppy and uneven. AND they do not have a sign posted anywhere that you can't add a tip on to your credit card. I'm fine if that's your policy - but you have to let people KNOW. Or is the owner ok with his girls not getting tipped?

I got what I paid for - guess I shouldn't have gotten so excited over a $22 mani / pedi.

one of the worst mani/pedi's I've ever had. To start, when I walked in they acted as if I was bothering them...no greeting, no smiles, just what do you want. The water was cold, the instruments weren't sealed, they squirted the lotion on my arms and told ME to rub it in! I like my nails buffed to a high shine, something my old manicurist did so well my nails shined for almost 2 weeks. When i asked for shiny buff, she rolled her eyes, then barely buffed them at all. Yes I know its work, but I tip big for a job well done...not that she ever found that out. My big toes were both filed very slanted with the outside of the nail being much longer than the inside. The color on my toes was all over my skin. He didn't even attempt to clean it up. Then they charged me $38. Overall I'd rather do my nails myself.
