Just drove by there last night and the place is closed! Building was totally empty. What a surprise - had no idea. Their Chaddsford location closed recently as well. Very disappointed because it was one of our favorite local hangouts. Does anyone know what happened?

Great live music some nights but the food isn't great.

Maybe brunch is good. I ate dinner with my family here, though, and it was anything but.
First off, the menu is HUGE - way too many things and it is all over the place. Tapas to Cajun to Italian to Sushi. Jack of all trades and master of none comes to mind. Since I am a bit on the paranoid side when it comes to the handling and freshness of my food - this giant menu set off warning bells in my head.
The server we had was pleasant enough. I was openly struggling with the huge menu and she really did not offer any suggestions (such as our burgers are edible). I ended up with a pasta and it was fine. It was the same quality that I would expect in a cafeteria. Precooked pasta, probably jarred sauce, and some unremarkable sausage.
My son had a grilled cheese with fries, which was fine and my husband ordered a seafood pasta - also quite unremarkable.
The decor of the place is somewhere between a dentist's waiting room and the day restaurant of a Hilton Garden Inn. Very dated.
The prices are about 20% more than what I would expect to pay for such mediocre fare and the drinks are very expensive.
Water glasses were never refilled.
All in all, unless you have to out of desperation, I would skip this place. It is in dire need of a complete overhaul. -

In 1999 I had my rehearsal dinner here at American Bar & Grill, and they did a great job. I've always liked it because it has a nice ambience(more contemporary feeling decor than many suburban strip-mall restaurants) and the food was always very good. I still think they do a nice job, but my hubby feels The Drafting Room is better. It's a tough call.
The other night we went for dinner, and it was amazingly smoky - we sat in the dining room, far from the bar and the smoking, but I still left smelling like an ashtray. Which is a major bummer because I'm pregnant and have super senses at the moment. It's a good thing my husband's too strong cologne drowned out the smoke smell on the ride home. ;)
I can't wait until all the PA restaurant's go smoke free - that will be heaven!
One fun point about this restaurant - they have two kids menus - one for younger kids and one for "young American's" with slightly bigger portions and more mature choices - good idea, eh? -

The location of America Bar & Grill is at the end of the strip mall. This is a bit different compared to the Epicurean (sister restaurant) which is up the road a bit. But don't let that stop you from visiting!
Everytime I visit here I *have* to get a burger. I still haven't found a better burger in the area! I come here everytime I'm craving one. Though they do have a pretty good selection of food here. From burgers to seafood to pastas to sandwiches and wraps there's pretty much something for everyone.
They also have a pretty good bar. 20 taps with 4 or so dedicated to the "regulars" the rest all craft beers. It's funny how America Bar & Grill has a good tap selection yet the Epicurean has all of the bottle selection.
Overall definitely worth a stop in if you're in the area!Listed in: Beer Bars

On a hot day last week, we made a quick stop for a cocktail. Didn't take time to get anything to eat, just sat at the bar for a quick one. To our surprise, when we were ordering our martinis, the bartender let us know included in their Happy Hour were $5.00 martinis to include top end vodkas like Vox. 2 martinis for $10.00, what a deal. What really made our pit stop memorable and enjoyable was meeting one of the best bartenders in the world. Her name is Amy. Attractive, oh yeah. But that's not what made her so great. It was that old fashion, over the top, super fantastic service. This is well worth the trip.

America used to be a great establishment. It was always busy and the brunch was good. We used to eat there frequently, but after a few recent bad experiences we won't be going back.
We went out for dinner. Our waitress seemed flaky. She didn't bring out any bread like other waiters have in the past. And two other waitresses had to keep coming out to us in her place, which didn't make sense, because even on a Saturday night it was hardly "busy".
There were flies everywhere, all around our table and our food. We could hardly enjoy eating our appetizers because of the flies. This isn't the first time we've seen flies in the dining room but it was really terrible that night. When we said something about this, one waitress just said, "Oh, I guess it's because we left the doors open too long."
Next, our main courses were DISGUSTING and we felt sick after eating barely half our meals. The meat tasted rather off, and we were displeased with our lukewarm lettuce in the salads. When we told our original waitress the issue, she just apologized and didn't offer us a refund.
Overall the service is pretty mediocre, the food is not nearly as good as it used to be, and the menu is flat-out boring. It hasn't changed in nearly a year and a half. It's so plain compared to other eateries nearby in Exton/Chester Springs like Bonefish.
If you want a more modern experience, go someplace else. Many of the people I see going in are either families with kids or the elderly!!! -

REALLY good food and terrific service. The halibut was very fresh, just a tad too much seasoning but still delicious. This is also a great place to have a private party or meeting.

Decent place. Atmosphere was nice, service was good. I had the lobster pasta special, which was surprisingly excellent. Would go here again.

We were there a couple of months ago for dinner on a Saturday night. The food was good, but came too fast (if you can believe that). We wouldn't be done with one course before the next course came. The drinks were excellent though.
Today, we went for the Sunday brunch. It was the worst brunch we've ever had. The place was dead, which should have been a clue. The potatoes were cold, the bacon was one big lump and the chicken nuggets were tough. I couldn't cut through the carved roast beef or the eggs benedict muffin. Service was OK
Try this place, but don't do it on Sunday buffet!!
