Amenity Day Spa is very nice and the staff is polished and helpful.
I see Patty for laser hair removal. She is amazing and super professional. I've have had laser removal done a ton before and I found Amenity day spa because my plastic surgeon in California uses a very high end laser hair removal machine that does and incredible job. I did some research and Patty owns that same machine. I find that her prices are very reasonable because the service is far above expectations.
Those who have had laser hair removal know that it's not pain free nor will the area look perfectly normal immediately following. If you focus on the long term goal the pain is worth it.
I highly recommend Patty for laser hair removal. -

I had to find a replacement aesthetician....and someone that was good at doing brazilian waxes. The person I previously went to at Shapes Salon and Day Spa left and I was bummed. I went to Amenity and got Mandy who is part owner of the spa for my wax treatment. Not only is Mandy excellent and efficient, she's personable as well. I have also had Gail for facials and she's really one of the best facials I have ever received. (And I get around for facials- be it Vegas, Hawaii, California, etc.) Amenity Day Spa's only little surprise was that it is in a corporate park and I kept thinking, "I'm in the wrong place." But once you get inside and see the spa, you'll be transported to a different place altogether.
The ADDED bonus - besides the wonderfully heated toilets (an experience in of itself) - is that there is no HAIR salon attached to it. So you dont hear the nonsense and bustling as you would at other day spas. You come here to relax and get away... and you definitely get to. I think I fell asleep once or twice during a facial or massage. It's worth a visit. I haven't been disappointed yet. -

I'm pretty easy going when it comes to expectations of a salon/spa. I don't even care that this place can be difficult to find/get to if you're not familiar with the area... However, in today's economy, there's really no place for people being rude, and less so for people lacking skill to do multiple hundred dollar procedures.
I had the "good fortune" (in the Chinese curse kind of way) of visiting Amenity twice, related to Xtreme lash extensions. WIth both, the apppointment time I was quoted on the phone was the time I showed up at and both times I was told/treated as if I was late. Now if it's me and I'm just getting old and can't remember anything, why is it only happening at Amenity, and not the 4 or 5 other places I have regular appointments at? I had actually tried to schedule things online originally - but they either don't read or choose to ignore emails about making online appointments... might be better if they went that route exclusively though so there's proof of what time was agreed to. Anyhow, Amenity made sure to remind me at regular intervals that I had been late (rude, unprofessional - so much for the customer being right - how about you just keep it to yourself!?) and make me wait as long as possible (okay, so I'm not positive it was on purpose, but considering the rest of the review it wouldn't surprise me either).
The lash extensions themselves were so-so. An aesthetician who does not work for Amenity said it hadn't been done right, that the lashes closest to the inside of my eye were supposed to be shorter/different somehow instead of being as long as the others. Another aesthetician from a third shop said it looked as if some had already fallen off (2 days later). Well, I wish that was what HAD happened. After about 2 weeks that was it, I'd had enough of the things twisting around and poking me in the eye and being generally uneven. So I called Amenity to schedule a removal (after having done extensive online research and not found a way to take them off myself)... and the woman on the phone ARGUED with me. "You don't get them taken off, they just fall off." To which I replied, "Yes, you CAN take them off, and I WANT them TAKEN OFF" - not that she heard me, because she had already put me on hold (how gracious and lovely, right?).
Normally I would feel a little guilty about a bad review, but in this case, I think it's important for people to know they can expect hit-or-miss service (in my cases, 2 misses for 2). -

I love Amenity! The place has such a relaxing atmosphere and the staff are very nice and never try to push you into buying extras. They offer so many different services that there's always something new to try. Their prices are reasonable and they do accept SpaFinder gift cards. This may sound odd, but don't leave without using their bathroom! Best. Toilet. Ever.
Be sure to bring cash for tips as you can't add a tip on to a credit card. -

This is a hidden gem that's super close to my house. I've been going to this spa for more than five years. I've had many services by the part owner Patty; does GREAT facials. I especially enjoy the hot stone pedicures that Bo is a master at performing. While the front desk service has been hit or miss over the years, I think the current staff are professional. Felicia, one of the new office managers , keeps the environment professional and warming to customers.

I LOVE THIS PLACE.
Randomly tucked away in an office park, you might be turned off of this place at first... But once you enter, you forget that you are minutes from the toll road and that traffic really sucked getting there.
The reception area is separate from the spa area (you actually walk down a small corridor to get there), so you really feel like you are in your own oasis. Upon your arrival, you check-in and are escorted to the dressing area and offered a complimentary beverage from a menu of teas, juices and wines (bonus!!). The robes are comfortable and the spa waiting are is plush and lit with just enough (not too much, not too little) light to help melt away the stresses of your day. There is even a feux fireplace to help you feel miles away from home.
I went in for a massage and it was awesome. The room was spacious and the therapist was fantastic. Before the session started she asked me a series of questions to determine what type of massage I needed (rather than just getting down to business) to ensure I got the most out of my 45 minute session. Oh, and did I mention how affordable this place is???? $65 for a 45 deep tissue massage... Red Door in Reston is $118 for 50 minutes!!!! Ive had both services and much preferred the massage at Amenity Day Spa.Listed in: Just off the Dulles Toll Road

Wow. What a bad experience. First, I call and the receptionist or owner (some woman who answered the phone, Julie) tells me they don't open for 10 minutes (at 8:50 am) and can I call back after 9am? So, I go online to the online booking service and book a 9:30 75 minute massage followed by pedicure. I call at 9:10 to confirm everything is copacetic --in fact it is not. She says her massage therapist isn't due in until 10:30, can I hold while she calls him? I hold for about 10 minutes, after which point I hang up and call another spa and book the appts. I call back to cancel, and *after* holding for 10 minutes, am asked if I can give them my number so they can call me back. No, I can't, I'm cancelling.

I visited Amenity Day Spa for the first time yesterday. Following a car accident, I had some mild back pain and decided to treat myself to a hot stone massage which I conveniently had a gift card for!
I was greeted very warmly at the front desk, and was given a detailed mini-tour of the spa. The spa is absolutely gorgeous, and definitely felt like an escape!
The changing area is a little small; I can imagine it getting a little crowded in there on a weekend, but there are private changing areas which was a plus!
The relaxation room is beautiful and cozy, and very quiet.
On to the massage.
I felt a lot of time was wasted on putting the cold stones away/retrieving new stones from the Crock Pot (for lack of a better term). I filled out paperwork prior to the massage stating that I'd like a lot of focus on my shoulders, but I didn't feel like they were given any special attention at all. My neck was barely touched. My shoulders and neck actually hurt worse now than they did when I went in, and have since last night! Tylenol PM to the rescue!
I still have a balance on my gift card for a facial and manicure, so I am totally going to give Amenity another shot (I would have anyway). Hopefully I'll have a better experience next time.
To the person who was upset about having to provide a credit card number upon booking, I worked in a spa, and that is a very common practice. Just so you know! -

Very disappointed in the product and service. I would not go back here if it would not be I have gift certificates. I have had pedicure and gel nails. The pedicure lasted 2 weeks and the gels, one day before my nails chipped. I went back to have my nails fixed the next day only to have them chip the very next day. The nail tech made me feel like I was doing something wrong. I have had gel on my nails before. I haven't had gels chip as these did. I will not go back. Customer service is lacking. I didn't feel that the nail tech likes her job and had no customer appreciation. She even told me that she came in to repair my nails when I came back in the second time with a fever. One I felt bad she came in just to repair my nails and Two, that she came in with a fever. poor customer service and quality

I've been a client at Amenity for 5 years, and the services I've had there - pedicures, lunches, facials, massages, etc. have always been wonderful.
My one star rating is purely in regards to a recent bad experience as well as the follow-up handling of that experience. Without going into the boring details, I brought 2 friends to Amenity for birthday pedicures, and they basically made a mess of everything. Most noticeable was our treatment by the receptionists - terrible. So, I have decided not to return. Keep in mind that I've been going for 5 years. I don't want to even have to find a new spa - so you know this had to have been bad. The experience we had though alone is not actually what's making me not return - it's their lack of response or apology after our complaints.
Anyway, to be fair, this is a great spa as long as you don't mind dealing with rude receptionists and as long as you never have an issue; they are definitely not what I would consider even average at customer service / retention.Comment from Patty W. of Amenity Day Spa 10/25/2011

I went here for a facial and a massage last year and have been going back for facials ever since! I recommended it to all my friends and family! I loved the service and the robes!
I had had one other facial before and it was at Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon and Spa in Reston but I thought that this one was much better. It's just a spa so they escort you into their private, very quiet, and relaxing area to wait and sip your complimentary beverage before your appointment.
They are very flexible as I have added things while there and I have found it very convenient to make appointments. -

I go back and forth between three and four stars. I think the truth of the matter is that I want to like it more than I really do, and as such I view it a bit more favorably.
The front desk staff is always sort of eh - they look bothered by almost anything you say, do, or ask. It's only when you get there that they look pleased to see you.
I've never had a bad massage there, and only one that was mediocre - that was my pregnancy massage. They really need to invest in one of those tables with the belly hole - lying on your side is not the best or most comfortable for a massage. I wouldn't get one of those again.
Facials are good, the atmosphere is fun and small, and comfortable. Sure it could be fancier, but it's just fine for me.
And seriously. Check out the toilet. -

I really like this spa for several reasons.
1) No pushy or rude sales people.
2) The toilet in the bathroom (just check it out - you will see)
3) The massages are wonderful
4) The changing room is very nice and private (with nice lockers).
5) They take SpaFinder gift certificates (you can purchase these at Costco for cheap $100 GC for $75 and then use them here!)
6) They offer an array of packages, but are somewhat pricey (so use SpaFinder gift certiciates!!)
7) They offer you a beverage while you wait (water, tea, coffee, wine, beer, champagne!)
I must admit, the first time you go - you will probably think that the location sucks and is hard to find, but if you go back again and again - you may just appreciate the location being so hidden (as I do) and you feel like you are taking a private trip to a Spa no one knows about!
One drawback is that they only accept cash for tips, they won't allow you to put the tip on your credit card, which totally blows.
Overall, I highly reccomend this Spa for a massage - I have not tried any other services there yet, though. -

Seriously? I need a CC on file just to book an appointment at this place??? I think NOT! Who does that, anyway? I don't care how good they are...why would I give out my credit card info to some place that I have never even visited. Big fat NO before I even try...hmph!

Okay...from the moment I walked in the door I was greeted with a smile and full respect. I was there for a manicure and pedicure and Mai attended to me. She was attentive, skillful, polite, and made sure I was comfortable on every level. This was my first time there and I was so happy. For any one putting down the service there shame on you and try showing up on time or early like I did. Don't take your frustrations out on these wonderful people. Take care!

First spa experience ever and I am HOOKED!! Everything was incredible. I really like that the location was secluded and the interior was so tranquil and peaceful.
I had a massage and facial - I felt so taken care of and pampered. I really appreciated how comfortable they made me feel and that there was no pressured sales pitch at the end. I definitely see more spa days in my future here! -

Wonderful Spa! The massages and facials are the best! Definitely pampered! I've been to other spas Bellagio, Landsdowne Resort, Massage Envy, La Costa Resort, and nothing compares to the quality of treatment you get at Amenity!

Found a masseuse I love...Nick...overall review stays the same as the location and relaxation factor aren't great. For the massage, though, amazing. The aromatherapy coupled with his ability to get into overused and abused muscles made me finally realize that good masseuses really do exist in the area.

I have only had a wax here but it is amazing. I love the atmosphere and Lauren is fantastic. Very personable and make you feel comfortable in a situation that is so uncomfortable to begin with. I can't wait to get a massage there too.

I am SO glad this day spa is so close to my home - I just wish I could afford to go more than once or twice a year! They have great massages and facials (Patty is the best for facial treatments) and a lovely facility. I give it 5 stars based on how much I love it but I must admit I wish it was a little more competitively priced and some more of the good special offers they used to have...but I won't mark them down for that now!

This is definitely a "meh" for me. I'm a little surprised it's the same place everyone else has gushed about.
I was in dire need of a facial, and had planned a shopping day in Leesburg on my day off, so I figured I'd check out a new spa. Upon calling, I asked about getting a massage as well, and was told I could have the massage first and the facial after. In between, I'd have about fifteen minutes in the steam room.
Great! Fantastic!
I arrived 15 minutes early, changed into my robe, and sat in the waiting room to fill out paperwork and sip my complementary champagne. My masseuse came and picked me up a little early. She did ask if there were any areas I needed work on, etc, which I appreciated...but then she spent almost no time on the areas I specifically requested (back). It was a nice massage, but not worth the cost, and I feel just as tight and sore now as I did yesterday.
My masseuse offered to walk me back to the relaxation area--I reminded her that I was supposed to spend a few minutes in the steam room in between. So she brought me back to the "steam room."
Ugh. The "steam room" is really a curtained off area with a 1-person stall sauna and a large shower-like enclosure that serves as a steam room. My masseuse said the facialist would pick me up from the steam room in a few minutes. So, I sat in the steam room for what felt like 10-15 minutes (no watch and no sense of time). I figured it was about time, so went to the restroom (next door) and then sat on a chair outside the steam room in the curtained off area. And waited. Waited some more. Got annoyed by how loud and thoroughly un-peaceful it was (there's an exterior door in the room which is covered by a curtain when someone uses the steam room). I convinced myself I had no sense of time and waited some more. Finally I went to find someone and ask what was going on. I found out that over 50 minutes had passed (thank goodness I didn't wait in the steam room itself the whole time).
My facialist was very nice about the whole thing--she apologized for the confusion, and said she'd be sure to let the front desk know what happened. The facial was fine, but nothing amazing.
The kicker came at the front desk. When I asked about the scheduling problem, they told me that I was supposed to sit in the "relaxation room" for fifteen minutes, then have fifteen minutes of steam, then back to the "relaxation room" for another fifteen minutes. I'm not sure where that came from, but it was certainly never communicated to me (I was told to wait in the steam room the whole time). No apology from the front desk for the miscommunication, no discount. I was particularly annoyed because if I knew I'd have a long wait between treatments, I would have just had a facial.
So, now I'm still sore, I'm out $200+, and I wasted the better portion of my day off. This is as pricey as most places in DC without the customer service or amenities you'd expect. -

it's definitely an "ok" spa with a quiet atmosphere. the people great and do not try to push a sale. which is very important at a spa. there are so many places that me you feel like you are at a car dealership rather than a place of relaxation. the spa is small and quaint.

Thanks, Yelpers for recommending this place. I went for the first time recently for waxing and would definitely go back for other services, as well. It is tucked away and a bit hard to find, but that's my only real critique of the place. I had to chuckle when I went to the ladies restroom ... now I understand what "check out the toilet" means! Seriously, it's worth the trip.
