Review from Danny Y.
A little expensive, but it's a must when you want to avoid annoyingly chatty teens and long lines on opening weekends.
We were full when we arrived, so I can't say anything about the entrees. But, we did try their crab dip/bites, which were surprisingly good. Like, REALLY good. Plus, it paired perfectly with my pinot.
Verdict: Assigned seats are great, but avoid rows A-D or be prepared to have your view blocked by servers walking around. -
Review from Osiris V.
Usually you have to make "reservations" for tickets. It's so worth it! No kids screaming or crying, no Tweens acting a fool, no one under 21 is allowed in there and they have very comfortable seats. Yusss!
They give you free popcorn and keep refilling it. You can get dinner and drinks and watch your movie. Try it for yourselves. -
Review from Ashley J.
Make sure you make a reservation before the show.. it's difficult to get through on the phone to make a reservation - and you can't buy tickets online..make sure you call their local number 630 495 0048. Even then, it's hard to get ahold of someone live - their phone lines are only open after 4:30.
Big, comfy seats. No kids, crying, etc. You need to be 21 and over, so that filters a pesky crowd. It's a fun idea for a date night or a fun night out with friends..
Drink list is small, as well as the food menu. The food is relatively good, not very fresh, and can be a little cold at times.. but it does beat concession stand food that you get at the regular theater.
For about $15 you get the tickets to the movie, unlimited soft drinks (bar drinks not included), and unlimited popcorn. -

Oh, Arclight Cinemas, how I miss you so. (That's an LA theatre delicacy for you Chicagoans - if you ever hit up the west coast, see a movie there and your five-star reviews for this place will be swiftly lowered.)
Here's the thing about this theatre - it's supposed to offer a high quality movie-going experience, but they fail miserably in the "experience" part.
Positives:
+ The movies they choose to play are usually great - exactly the new releases I'm wanting to see.
+ Seats are large and comfortable, and reserved seating is stellar.
+ Sound level was just right for the size of the room.
+ Bathrooms are clean.
+ Free popcorn. Considering about $5 for popcorn in a regular theatre (and that's conservative), I think this ticket price isn't too outrageous.
Negatives:
- Food sucks. And it's way over-priced.
- The staff is totally mediocre. Take a cue from my beloved Arclight and find a way to motivate your employees to care. This would make a world of difference in how your patrons perceive their overall experience and value of what they're getting.
- They fill the popcorn cart with popcorn from a giant clear trash bag. I don't expect my popcorn to be birthed from a golden goblet, but please fill the cart BEFORE the patrons are all settled in their seats watching the previews. It's tacky and gross to watch it come from a garbage bag.
- Find a way to pass out the popcorn bags that doesn't require your fingers to be shoved down the top of every single bag.
- Offer the butter for the popcorn earlier than halfway through the movie. -

This was our 3rd or 4th trip, but it will be our last.
The service was horrific! It started out ok., we ordered drinks and the crab dip to share then decided on a flat bread pizza to share. There were only 2 other tables eating at the time and since no one was paying attention, my husband asked the waiter if he could put the Hawks game on...he said he didn't know the station because it was a dish, but would ask. Never acknowledged out request again.
We didn't finish our pizza so asked for a box. It never came and the waiter then ignored us for the rest of visit. I mean literally would not look at us or come over. We went in to watch the movie, he had to walk past us to wait on the people next to us several times but never asked if we needed anything. A manager came about 30 minutes into the movie and asked if we needed anything, my husband asked for a water. It was 30 minutes before she brought it!
I wouldn't have been upset about the pizza had he just acknowledged the mistake and apologized, but ignoring us was unacceptable. When my husband mentioned it to the manger who cashed us out (the waiter still wouldn't come by us), she was like "oh well, sorry". At the very least they shouldn't have charged us for the pizza, we'd only eaten a quarter of it!
Anyway, we won't be back. Hollywood is MUCH better and cheaper! Plus the food is 10x better. Consider spending your money there instead. -

So can I give this place 6 stars? Because I will never go back to a regular movie theater again if I can!
$15 plus change for a ticket; only about $6 more expensive than a regular theater - but there are no screaming kids, no loud teenagers (you must be 18 to get in!), and there is pure comfort! Lots of leg room, a big comfy armchair with a side table for your enjoyment! A server that will get you drinks and food - yes they serve wine here! If you want to dine here before the movie, they have a small restaurant and bar in the front. We did not try any of the food, as we had just stuffed our faces at Adobo Grill, but they did have a fairly extensive menu, not just hamburgers and stuff. And free popcorn - that right there will equal the admission to a regular theater.
If you are going to a movie, may as well be super comfortable! The only problem I can see with this place is that it is easy to nod off during a movie because the seats are so comfortable. -

If this theater was located closer to me I would probably make it a point to go there at least once a month.
If you've never been let me lay it out for you...
You call in your reservation and hold your seats and movie time with a credit card. You could go there without making a reservation but the chances of seats being available woutd be very slim.
So you show up for your movie and I think they suggest showing up at least 20 minutes in advance. We show up quite a bit earlier to have some drinks at the bar. Yep, I said bar. Not your typical theater. You walk in and check in with the host, sign your credit card slip and then they have a bar area and also a small dining area. Menu is burgers, chicken sandwiches, mini pizza's, wraps, fries, nachos, bruschetta, cheese sticks, stuff like that there. They also have a full bar and the bartender serves up a damn good margarita.
About 15 minutes before the move starts they start the seating. They call names one at a time based on the order of when you called in your reservation. So someone who called in their reservation hours and hours after you did won't score a better seat. Love it! You walk into the theater and the seats are these big cushy armchairs. So you got two cushy armchairs and a side table, two cushy armchairs and a side table. Side tables obviously so you can put your food, popcorn and drinks on. Theater is pretty small so but it is stadium and you have a ton of leg room.
Popcorn is included in the $15.50 movie ticket and servers will come to you throughout the movie to see if you'd like another drink from the bar, soda, refill on popcorn, some chicken fingers, etc. etc. But they do it in a way that doesn't obstruct yours or anyone elses vision.
Great movie watching experience! They just need to build one in the city. -

This is a comparison between Hollywood Blvd and Yorktown Premium.
Prices:
Hollywood: $8 regular, $6 matinee/student/senior
YT Premium: $17. Period. You get unlimited popcorn, but your meal is NOT included in this price.
Movie selection:
Hollywood: Six screens, all new movies.
YT Premium: One screen, whatever new movie they pick.
Seating:
Hollywood: Comfortable desk chairs. Table is in front of you.
YT Premium: Seating is more comfortable, but the table is to your side, which makes eating and watching the movie more difficult than it should be.
Food:
Hollywood: Selection is phenomenal, and all the food has cute movie-themed names. I had the crab rangoon, and it was pretty good, better than most I've had. Reasonable price, too... it was $8 for 4 very large crab rangoon. My husband had a cheeseburger.
YT Premium: Selection is okay. I had the grilled chicken, and it was dry and tasted old... it was like eating a brick! My husband had the chicken sandwich and thought it was a little better than his cheeseburger at Hollywood.
Note: Since I'm a student, my ticket was $6, and my meal was $8. That's $14 for dinner AND the movie, which $3 less than just the movie at Yorktown Premium.
Movie screen size:
About the same, smaller than a regular theatre.
Crowding and movie-goers:
About the same. Hollywood seemed to be bigger, and the night we went there was barely anyone there, but other people have said it gets crowded.
We did not see ANY loud teenagers or crying babies at either Hollywood or Yorktown Premium.
Service:
Both had friendly waiters and waitresses, but Hollywood seemed to be a little nicer. By the time we'd made it out of the theatre, we had FOUR people wish us a Happy New Year, and drive safely! YT Premium's staff was not unfriendly, but, I don't know... they just seemed nicer at Hollywood.
Location:
Hollywood: Woodridge. Ouch.
Yorktown Premium: Lombard, by Yorktown Shopping Center. MUCH closer to us.
After going to Hollywood Blvd, I don't think I'd ever go to Yorktown Premium again, even though Hollywood is much further away. Why pay $17 when you can pay $8 (or in my case, $6)? Why settle for one movie when you could have your choice of 6?
If I'd never known about Hollywood, I still have given Yorktown Premium 2 stars though. $17 for a movie is just too expensive, no matter if there's a bar there or not. And I did not like the food at all (though in the interest of fairness, my husband did like his sandwich). -

I visited this theatre when they had an attached restaurant. They have since closed the restaurant which is sad because they made a heavenly portabello mushroom dish.
I saw Autumn in New York here. There are maybe 20 seats total in this whole theatre, deep, tan leather, with your own personal space, personal table, free popcorn and ushers/waiters to take food and drink orders. Oh, and talk about surround sound, dolby digital - whatever, the acoustics are awesome. You feel as though you are in your own private screening, and sometimes you are. The last time we went the show was a test showing of a movie not available in all areas.
This place far outshines Hollywood Theatre - if you have been there and think that Premium is anything like that, it is not. -

This is the best kept secret. It is a great place to see a movie, grab some dinner and a drink. The Chicken Satay is wonderful,Nachos are yummie!
Doesnt matter what you order the food is always good. If you dont want to have a sit down dinner then you canl catch a movie, popcorn and soda(17.00) all refills are free then this the place for you.I go with girlfriends,my husband and the nephews. We Love it -You can eat and see other movies too which I love.
The staff always is great and makes sure your glass/food or popcorn is never empty. They come to you at your seats and ask if they can get you anything not just once but several times during the show -not in a annoying way .The Girl who makes the reservations(checks coats also) is awesome she knows her regulars! f -

This place, like all Movie Theatre's now is way too expensive. But if I am paying as much as I do I expect to get good service. No one is friendly. I ordered popcorn and a soda and it took the guy so long. There was one line only, and I swear the guy was high as a kite! I don't know why they would not have more employees to open up another line. He got my popcorn from this case that was already scooped into the bag sitting there. The popcorn was gross and stale. The floor in the theatre was sticky. Gross. Would way rather wait til the movie I want to see comes to the Tivoli or Ogden 6.

We used to love going to this theatre, after today's experience....
We got there and the earlier show had a problem with the end of the movies burning up, So 5 people (yes 5 people) didn't get to see the end. The theatre answer, Call a manager to give them free passes, but it took 20 minutes, at which time all of them said "We are leaving." After they actually left the manager showed up with the free passes. Wouldn't you offer them to step into the adjoining theatre to see the end of the movie in addition to those free passes?
Service was non existent. We sat at our table to 10 minutes before being asked if we wanted menus. (What!) We finally got our order in, we ordered a bottle of wine, the server brought it over and never poured it.
We ordered the Nachos as an appetizer and stated that to our server. Please bring the Nachos before the meals. You guessed it we got the nachos after we had our meals. We tried to cancel them, but of course they were already on the tray to be delivered to us.
Service in the theatre itself was much better. Apparently we should have tip that waiter, better than our waitress. -

i almost hate giving it four starts because i really don't want all you ppl to go. i'd rather you go to hollywood blvd when as show time approaches you get in line smashed up against one another smelling bad beer breath until they lower the rope only to get mowed down by ppl trying to get to the best seating....ahhhh enter premium theater where civility reigns. you call ahead make reservations and they book the seating. once you attend it would be hard to go back to the former way of watching a movie. i'd give it five stars if the food didn't suck so bad.

My Fiance had been talking about this place.. so we finally went and it was great.
We rarely travel outside city limits but this was definitely worth it.
Popcorn bought to your seat, dinner server to you and dessert if you choose.
The full bar is great you can get anything you want and they bring it to your seat! -

This is one of those places I had been meaning to check out for a few years, but haven't until recently. Already I'm hooked and have been back a couple of times since. It's really close for us, so the convenience makes it easier to be a repeat customer.
Reservations should definitely be made before going, especially for the weekends. Because it is such a small theater, the seats can fill up quickly. Getting through on the phone can be a problem at times, as the line can be plagued by busy signals or it keeps ringing even when they are open. It's not a big deal though, just keep trying back and eventually you will get through.
Since your seats are reserved when you call, there is no need to get to there early for seats and wait around if you are not interested in dining there. They do open an hour early for people that want plenty of time to eat first. Others get there closer to starting time and either have a drink at the bar or have drinks and appetizers served in the theater.
So far, we have opted to eat there first and have always enjoyed the food. We're pretty sold on the convenience of it all too. They have a decent selection, as well as varying prices. The drinks from the bar have always been great. If we have extra food wrapped, they hold it at the bar for us and have it ready when we exit the theater. The only problem with eating there first is that we are too full to even think about eating the free popcorn!
The staff is incredibly sharp and professional, completely lending to that feeling of being a little spoiled. They check on people a couple of times during the movie too, in case anyone wants another drink or something to eat.
All in all it's a slight splurge, but worth the extra price for the comfort and service that we have received. -

We went to Yorktown Premium Theater on a Saturday afternoon for my girlfriend's birthday. The lounge /dining area and bar area were small but quaint. We did not eat at the tables in the dining area. However, we should have done this because trying to eat at the little side tables in the theater was very uncomfortable and awkward. The theater its self was wholly unimpressive. The seats were no different from the seats in the regular theater area. The food was overpriced and less than mediocre- a $13 hamburger and $11 dollar microwave nachos. Eat before or after going to the premium theater, but do not buy their food. I have been to better premium theaters and Yorktown premium was a second-rate movie/dining experience. Do not waste your money on this premium theater there are other places such as Barrington Premium Cinema that offer a much better atmosphere for your money.

Review from Chuck D.
I was teetering between 2 and 3 stars, but the caption for two says "meh. I've experienced better." and that is eeeeexactly how I feel about Yorktown Premium.
I. was. so. pumped. to go see a movie at this theater the other night, especially with all the glowing reviews on yelp (yelp never steers me wrong!). I don't know how this has 4.5 stars! There is sooo much potential for this place to be as absolutely awesome as it was in my head. Let me lay out my expectations vs reality (a scary comparison sometimes, but I assure you, I didn't have impossible expectations). Keep in mind my expectations are based on things I had heard about this theater combined with what I think needs to happen for me to pay $17 for a movie ticket and make it be worth it.
I was told there are comfortable leather chairs with moveable tables to the side.
Expectation: Comfortable leather chairs with side tables (I know, ridiculous, right?)
Reality: Leather movie chairs that feel the same as movie chairs from the late 90s (a little less great then the big tall ones of the 00's that lean slightly back and you can move the arm rests up and down, but still decently comfortable) with table that are not moveable to the left and right of two seat groups.
Why this matters: the seats weren't anything different or more comfortable, so why am I paying more and why are people raving about this? Also - the tables were sort of nice if you had a lot of food, but I ended up holding everything in my lap (and putting my drink on the side table that could have easily been replaced with an arm rest cup holder) because it was more convenient and comfortable anyway. The tables were sort of annoying because there were 3 of us. My boyfriend and I were able to sit next to each other, however our third person was isolated.
I was told the food is delish, the mixed drinks well made and just about anything I order will be great.
Expectations: Good food and strong drinks
Reality: Food was good, not great and also over priced. $14 for a "sampler" that included only 2 potato skins, 4 mozzarella sticks, and two southwest egg rolls (cut in half to make "4"). All the food was fine, the egg rolls were even pretty darn good, I got a Long Island that was nothing special (and I'm afraid to know how much it was, as the drink menu listed prices as "varying" instead of anything helpful, like, I don't know, listing the prices for us).
Why this matters: I don't like to pay for overpriced food. I will pay ridiculous amounts of money for excellent food, but ridiculous money for OK food? Not okay.
I was told there is nobody under 21 allowed.
Expectation: Sweet, nobody obnoxious ruining the movie.
Reality: Right, 21 means people can be drinking and be trashed. Old people can be just as obnoxious as screaming kids and teenagers. Actually, probably more so - since they should know better.
Why this matters: Just a heads up that only 21+ does not save you from obnoxious people, and just because there are waiters occasionally wondering in, does not mean that they will say anything to shut up said obnoxious people.
I was told there is great service and friendly staff in the lounge area if you show up an hour or less before the show.
Expectation: What you would normally expect from a server as well as a small but nicely done lounge type area to sit and have drinks.
Reality: Waitress, who basically ignored us, took our appetizer order and drink order (we arrived an hour before the show to check out the "lounge"), brought us our food and drink, and never ever talked to us again (empty long island means I might want another one?), didn't even come over to clear our plates that were sitting in front of us for at least 30 minutes. I would understand if it was busy, but most people seemed to show up 15 - 20 minutes before the show - most tables were empty and there were multiple waiters/waitresses. The lounge was just kind of a room with tables, no real atmosphere.
Why this matters: Who doesn't want good service? Also - they could easily have a decent lounge if they put any amount of effort or money into it, so much potential and they have done nothing with it. Again, why am I paying extra when I could have just gone to any restaurant/bar in this area, paid the same amount for better food, drinks and atmosphere, and then gone and paid $12 (at the most) for a movie?
Lastly (but definitely not least(ly)), I assumed (my bad) that this would be a nicer theater with a nice screen (or at least on par with the rest of the AMC that its attached to that has big screens, nice theaters, and comfortable up to date chairs).
Reality is, the screen was pretty darn small, the sound was way louder then normal ( to cover the clanking of silverware? ), and the theater chairs were fine, but not worth paying extra for - they were certainly nothing special.
My thoughts? Not worth it. -
Review from Joy G.
ok, i'll compare the premium and hollywood blvd, too. cuz i've also been to both.
yorktown: pricier, but worth it!
hollywood: cheaper, but dirtier and divier.
yorktown: very friendly and attentive waitstaff!
hollywood: slow service which distracts from the movie.
yorktown: i still crave their chicken alfredo and spinach artichoke dip, with a nice glass of wine.
hollywood: i can get a bucket of beer and waffle fries anywhere. they weren't even good fries.
yorktown: it's 21 and up, with reservations, so you don't have to deal with obnoxious children or college kids.
hollywood: any ass can walk in off the street.
yorktown: big comfy seats with tables you can move. like being 1st class in an airplane, but even better!
hollywood: uncomfortable office-type chairs with a little bar in front of you for a table. felt like i was in a meeting at a bowling alley.
if you're worried about the prices at yorktown, here are a few secrets: the price of your ticket includes free unlimited popcorn! and if you're a member of the amc moviewatcher club {which is free to join, and you get points for every ticket you purchase}, you get $3 off each entree, and can earn points for free desserts or free drinks! -

Great place for a date, or night out. Has its own entrance, as well as bar and restaurant. Only complaint would be its limited movie selection. Pretty much always date type movies. Would be nice to see some midnight shows on the weekends with horror/action/ etc. Under 21 not admitted. Seats are very comfortable, free popcorn, and waitservice right at your seats. Would be a great place for a private party!
