Typical AMC theater, don't expect anything fancy. This is a good place to go for a matinée to see a nice movie with the kids. Kids work here and kids watch here, that's my experience at this AMC.

We enjoyed watching 'Bed Time Stories' with Adam Saddler with our kids at this AMC.

I generally only go to an AMC theater because I like using my rewards card, so when I moved to the Westside I started going to the old Santa Monica AMC or the Century City one. Then about a month ago, I went back to Montebello to catch a Matinee of Zombieland and I realized why all my East LA/Montebello friends now refuse to come here. Once you go somewhere where the seats don't have lumps, you can never go back.

It was early enough that the kiddies hadn't yet swarmed the theater, but it didn't matter because their parents were there and they have no manners. Everyone was talking the entire time or fiddling with their phones. It was so distracting. You can report it all you want but no one does anything.

Next, the sound in that place hasn't been updated since it opened in 1993. The sound was so bad you couldn't hear most of the dialogue. I talked to the manager to say the vocals were muffled (but the sound effects were fine). He apparently fixed it, until it went out again about 5 minutes later. My friend went back out to talk to the manager this time, but nothing was done. We complained once again after the movie, because what's the point of seeing a dialogue driven movie if you can't hear the dialogue?

Anyway, once you've gone somewhere that is even remotely nice, it's kind of hard to go back to the sticky floors, never been cleaned bathrooms, and unhelpful staff.

Bleh, the seats aren't very comfortable and the people here are just inconsiderate.

Most of the people here pay for one ticket and go to several movies, which is fine by me because we all do it once in our lives. But these people are loud and constantly talking...ruining the movie.

Oh. My. Gawd!  I was instantly transported back to high school when I came to watch a movie here.  Right there in the lobby was a snapshot of my whole high school experience.

The three girls in similar outfits, leaning up againt a wall in a similar pose....looking for thier friends who looked exactly like them.

The boy and girl making out near the concession stand, their only moments of romance before getting home before curfew.

The wild herd of teenage boys whose collcective IQs drop as they spend more time together.

Man I hated high school.

This theater is so over run with young people that it's nearly impossible to focus on the movie and the seating is the traditional narrow seats with armrests that will bruise your thigh if you bump them in the dark.

As the movie started, most of theater settled down to watch the feature presentation. The young couple next to me continued their conversation. I don't care if I'm perceived as the "mean old lady" by some teenage lovers. I want to see my movie without being interrupted by these two who were plotting how to get around their curfews.  SHUT UP ALREADY!!!!

1-star.

Definitely a teenie hang out place.  Too many kids congregating; so you know obnoxious behavior is inevitable.  The theater staff doesn't really help, they're also kids and hold no real authority.

I gave this place two stars because you can bring in outside food.  Or maybe they just don't care, it's become a tradition since the "kids" blaze the trail of sneaking in food.

Suggestion for all:  Come here early, before all the rowdy kids wake.

Small theater in a plaza w/ not many places to choose to eat from.  The best thing they have there to eat is the ice cream shop next door.  Otherwise, all youcan do to pass the time is check out what they've got going on over at ... ugh... Sears.  Or you can play Time Crisis 4 at the theater's arcade.

Non-stadium seating, but the good thing is that the place doens't get too crowded either.

As w/ all AMC's now, you can watch any movie b4 noon for $4 on Sat/Sun

I should have yelped this AMC before hand but I really wanted to check out the Montebello Mall so I just went with it.
Well I shouldn't have even bothered to buy tickets because you can just walk in. There was no one at the door checking tickets...
We went in midweek early afternoon so it was DEAD (Thank god after reading the reviews...)
The theater we were seated in was empty :) but the sound was HORRIBLE!! it was staticy all through the previews. Not so bad during the actual movie though.
The doors remained open until we decided to get up and close them ourselfs because we could hear the other movies playing.
I loved the movie I watched... but I'm not reviewing that.
I will not return to this theater.

One of the worst AMC theaters I've ever been to. I'm an AMC cardholder and only see movies at AMC theaters, but this one by far is one of the worst ones, I'm not sure if it's because the theater is an old one but there's no stadium seating, the sound quality is HORRIBLE (you only get sound coming from the front of the theater which was so strange...and when the movie had loud action parts or music, the sound would sound like static), and what was strange was that, some of the theaters left their house lights on dim, so when we were inthere we could look around during the movie and actually see people clearly.

Overall, bad experience.

First off its a simple theater in my opinion, as they only have the bare minimals of a movie going experience!  If you are looking for something good to eat, you might as well have ate before you left, because there isn't much.  The closest places to eat are a taco bell, and a carl's junior.  Oh and there is a Chili's next door, but it's always packed.

They do have a little ice cream store next door that helps pass the time and lets you taste a nice ice cream and seating suitable for short talks.

If you decide to go on a weekend prepare to look for some parking, sometimes you might even have to park near the sears, which is a 1 minute walk to the theater.  The best time to go if you are in fact looking for a time to go would have to be during the week, Monday through Thursday usually make the place look like a graveyard.  So if you are into the crowds, go on a weekend, if not, during the week!

Now I know where teenagers go on Friday nights.  This theater was packed with them and they all meandered about in the lobby and concession stand.  There wasn't an usher to take our tickets.  So it's quite possible that a number of people could have walked in without paying for admission.  The auditorium was not cleaned from the previous batch of movie goers and when we were seated, there was a group of pre-teens and/or teens behind us who were hyper, loud, and generally disruptive.  Fortunately they quieted down when the main feature began.  I give the movie three stars and the theater two stars.

Save yourself the trouble of disappointment and just go to another location, TRUST ME. The seats are uncomfortable and there is always trash on the floor. The last time I can here, my friend said that the show was starting in 15 mins so we should just go to this location since it's literally 5 mins away. We should of just driven further and caught a different showing time. Throughout the movie, there was this old couple in front of us talking during the whole 2 hours! WTH?! I mean, the crying and screaming kid in the back is bad enough and the mom didn't want to take him out cause she'll miss the "good action" part of the movie. She did eventually take him outside but she was standing right next to the door and held the door open with her foot so she can continue to watch the movie. Which by the way doesn't help cause the light from the lobby is coming in and the kid is still screaming. Well back to the couple, it turns out that they didn't understand English that well so they were helping each other out by translating each scene, are you kidding me?!?!
