The renovated concession stands are very nice and the menu signs now contain calorie information. They also now have the self service Coke machines with lots of soda options and optional flavors like cherry or orange.

Like most of Brandon, it appears that this shopping center was erected in a rush to accommodate the massive amount of people moving to the area. In this rush, and poor city planning, the space was denied any attention to detail that would make driving, parking, or shopping a good experience.
We were lucky enough to come here during the daytime, so we did not have to deal with the rough behavior of the hyper teens in the area. We ended up parking directly behind one of the retail buildings, only about 500 feet from the entrance to the theater.
At least we were able to purchase tickets from the automated kiosk. AMC no longer has their Movie Watcher card, now they have something called Stubs that you have to pay like $20.00 a year for. Tragic! We had to wave our arms in the air to get the attention of the girl that is supposed to take out tickets, she was involved in some personal conversation and was not interested in working.
We did not even go near the concession stands after seeing that the price for a bottle of water was $4.50. The place smelled of burnt popcorn and there was food all over the floor in the lobby. Once we entered the actual theater seating, my husband exclaimed, "This is dirty!" I did not even feel comfortable putting my head back on the seat, next time I will bring a towel.
For a city as large as Tampa, they only have like five movie theaters and no independent films. It is strange.Listed in: Sarasota Nightlife

The last time I visited this theater I was going to see Change - Up as a free sneak preview - What best can you ask for than free. I expected a super long line since it was free, but the theater handled it extremely well and organized.
The seats are older but they are still fine. The sound of the movie was fine. You can tell the age of the movie theater but all in all it was fine. I would not necessarily go back bc I am not usually in that area, but I really can't complain especially since I got to see a hilarious movie for free.
The area itself is not the best at night. Just be mindful of that.
The same plaza has tons of different stores and restaurants to shop and eat.
Go out to eat rather than spending your money on the food at the movie theater, it's pricey and not all that great. -

Carlos is right. This place is AWFUL. And guess what? It's not getting any better!
He reviewed this in 2006 and yet, here we are.
The sound quality is not existent, the screens are still running film (rather than the optimized digital), they recently raised their prices (again) for tickets AND concession.
There are kids loitering outside until all hours of the night, parking is in terribly lit areas that I don't feel comfortable walking through, etc.
Honestly, there is no redeeming value here. NONE. Do yourself a favor and drive the six miles up 75 and go to the Muvico out there. Digital sound and projection, helpful employees and while it's still expensive, you feel like you get your money worth. -

I can't give this movie theatre a very bad review because it is by far not the worst theatre I have been too. The service isn't bad here either. The seats are a little older but I have noticed them getting newer seat in some of there theaters. As for talking about the second concession stand I have noticed it being open most the time I have been there and haven't had a problem with topping for popcorn. The sound quality of the theatre is pretty good also it is very crisp and it depends on the movie the surround sound will shake your seat. This spot like all other movie theaters is a middle/high school hang out spot so you should expect that. I really haven't experienced any of what the previous reviews have said not saying that its not sometimes like what they are saying. It does need a new face lift though the outside is very plane. But overall it's not a bad theatre.

This should be easy...
This theater s**ks!
The only reason this theater does much business is because of the location and lack of competition. It's needed a facelift for years now, the last time it had an update was in like '94. It's a good hang out for the hoodlums though, so if you count yourself among that crowd, this is the spot for you!
The back concession is always closed, and they never have any of the toppings for your popcorn.
My girl and I recently caught a flick here for our 'date night' anniversary and the evening ended with a creeper sliding his hand on her leg...
He kept jumping seats in a 98% empty theater until he was right next to her with one seat in between, and had his hand stretched across the empty seat next to/on my girls leg.
Unfortunately she didn't tell me this right away for fear of a scene in the theater, but we reported the incident and the girl at the counter said it's happened before SO BEWARE LADIES! I also mentioned it on facebook and a friend of ours said she had the same thing happen.
Bottom line the prices have gotten to be ridiculous for a night out at the movies and until this theater does some housecleaning and gets a much needed update, we won't be back... -

While I can understand some of the complaints about this theater, I think they overexaggerate the terribleness overall. Yes, on a Friday or Saturday night this place is overrun with tweens and teens loitering outside and seemingly paying no attention to the film inside. Often times, it would appear that they have purchased a ticket simply to have a place to talk and play with their phone in the dark.
However, any other time of the week this theater is actually pretty solid. The majority of theaters are stadium seating with large screens, but the old ones from before their 12 theater addition leave much to be desired. In particular, the 2 theaters on the immediate left and right of the first concession stand are both tiny and have a gag-inducing popcorn odor (note: I don't hate the smell of popcorn, this is something much much worse. old? stale? moldy? who knows?). It's disgusting, avoid these at all costs.
So, if you are going to a newer/bigger release (less likely to be in the old theaters/stench zone) and also avoid the Friday and Saturday night hoards you're golden. -

Brandon, FL
I have been going to this AMC since it opened YEARS ago when they only had 8 theaters. Since then it has been the best option in Brandon. I have experienced many technical problems at this AMC and the sound is not as good as the newer theaters in Tampa. The parking is not the best but you can park on the other side where the shops are and walk through fairly easily.
Over all it is the best option for Brandon unless you want to drive to Ybor. -
Review from Jeremy T.
This place is terrible. The parking is nonexistent on a busy night, in fact it is nonexistent almost anytime. This place was designed by the letters GED if you ask me. There's plenty of available space around the property, two words "parking structure". The crowds are unmanageable due to the design of the theaters and their location within. The management is terrible, the staff tries, but is handicapped by its leadership.
Also they have no crowd discipline as well, in other theaters (even AMCs) they will not allow loitering in the hallways to hold social hour. Also no one wants to tell a patron to keep the commentary to themselves when they are holding social hour in the theaters. The theaters themselves need to be rebuilt on the inside because there are no clean seats anywhere. -
Review from Nic J.
It's only getting 3 stars because at night it's quite scary. Anytime they need to post a sign that states to make sure to lock your doors and hide your valuables, isn't a good sign AT ALL! No matter what time of day! But, the movie theater itself has always been pretty clean and up to date. I'll come here regardless....but during the day. At night there's police...doesn't make a good impression.

Great theater if you go early in the day during the week. It changes at night and on the weekends especially on a Friday or Saturday night. It gets packed with teenagers that don't seem to have gotten any home training. I try to bring my family early in the day so I'm not forced to tell a high schooler to shut up so my kid can watch the movie.

I have to agree with the other reviews on here: this is a typical mid- to lowclass suburban movie theater. The seats are worn out, you'll get a lot of teenagers hanging out in front of it, and the theaters themselves all have a bad odor to them.
However, as this is the only theater on this side of Tampa and it does not have any competition it's not a total waste. The parking lot is big (but badly lit), and there are two concession stands of which I have yet to see the second open. -

I've been a Brandon resident for most of my life and at one time this theater was great. Now I am worried about coming out of the theater at night because of all of the people standing around, goofing off and generally up to no good. When you see 5 to 6 deputies you know there's a problem. Anyway, this last vist was tame and not that bad. I really wish they would get their act together and make the experience worth the $50 we spend.

Not the best, not the worst. If you go on Sunday Morning, tickets are only $6 and you really can't beat that. The screen size and sound quality are fine. The seats are not the most comfortable things in the world. The location is what makes this a go to place. It is very convenient for people living in the Brandon area.

First off, the parking was horriffic! I had to park so far that I could not even see the movie theater sign...which meant I had to walk (in the rain!)... The ticket prices were about average. The actual theater itself was small, so it was hard to find a seat. I was surprised that it wasn't larger. I would probably come back, but definitely not on a Friday or Saturday, and this place would not be my first choice! Overall, after searching for a spot to park for about 15 minutes, and then walking in the rain for another 10 minutes, I enjoyed myself, once I dried off!

Not great, but not horrible. Biggest problem is just that they are so popular, the place if often packed. Parking also kind of sucks, but they've done some things to try to alleviate it, like walkways so you can park behind the mall.

Review from Carlos H.
I hate this AMC with a passion. Too many people flock here on Saturdays and most of them go to the movies just to walk the hallways and hang out outside the whole time they are there. I would not have a big problem with that if they did not disturb people during a movie by slamming doors open and closed and also screaming into the theaters. People just pick up their cell phones here during a movie and start to talk, it really upsets me when I pay seven dollars for a movie, I need to get better service. The management does not do anything about it's horrible establishment either. Like I said, I hate this place.

I would agree with the fact that you really don't want to go see a movie on the weekend unless you like tons of annoying teens and tweens having social time and trying to cop their first feel in the dark. However the theater in and of itself is fine. I do agree that it stinks to get an old theater because the arms don't go back and it's not stadium seating. However if you see something while it's still reasonably new you'll get a new theater. The seats are reasonably comfy. The concession is expensive but if you join the moviewatchers club you will get coupons pretty regularly. I would also recommend the movie watcher membership because it allows you to buy tickets ahead of time online with no extra fee. The membership is free. If I absolutely have to see a movie I have the best luck going before noon. You can go any day before noon to see any movie (even a brand new one) and the ticket price is only $5! This also eliminates the annoyance of the teens & tweens and people who won't shut up in the movie. While it's certainly not the best it's the only theater in the immediate area and with a few insider tweaks you can make it by just fine.
